CHAPTER 9❃ 10

As soon as they were led into a private room.

Ciara couldn’t contain her happiness and so she began to dance an off beat dance which earned her a frown from Reagan.

“What’s making you happy ?” He asked as he sat on the sofa and immediately she turned to him her eyes bubbling with happiness.

“The fact that I don’t have to marry you is what has got me feeling excited” she said grinning like a fool.

“And what makes you think that?”

“Didn’t you hear your mom…aah! I mean the queen. She specifically made it clear to you that I can’t marry you, you’ve got to listen to her, she’s your mom and she knows what is best for you, all mother’s do” Ciara stated.

“Just like your mother did before she gave you to me” Reagan taunted.

“Let’s leave my parents out of this and focus on the important thing which is that your mother doesn’t approve of me. You should listen to her and let me go now cause you….” A gasp escape her lips as he pulled her onto his laps, tightening his hold on her.

“I have no intention of listening to my mom and neither do I have any intention of letting you go. I chose you to be my bride and you will be my bride” he said with intent.

Ciara was taken aback by his words and she sat starring at him, lost by the beauty of his face.

She tried to get off his laps only for him to pull her back.

“Can you let go of me?” She asked slowly.

“Not until I make it clear to you that there’s no way out and that you will end up being my wife in every way” With that said Reagan swiftly pinned her on the sofa while he hover over her.

“You are mine Ciara and no one else ” he said before claiming her lips.

Ciara tried to fight him off but he easily made her succumb to his kisses.

His hands strayed all over her body, familiarizing himself with what will become his in the nearest future.

Ciara couldn’t help but to feel pleasure by his caress.

Never have she felt this not even with her ex boyfriend, she thought as she suck in a gasp when he suck on her throat.

She was about to ask for more when the door open revealing Regina.

“Oops! Am sorry for intruding” Regina said when she saw her brother and his wife to be making out on the sofa.

“Since you know you are intruding, you might as well leave” Reagan let out gruffly but Ciara stopped her knowing that once she leaves, Reagan will continue with his seduction and she won’t be able to stop him.

“Come in. You came to see me right?” Ciara said hurriedly as she went to Regina.

“I did but if you are…”

“We are not. Reagan is just about to leave” Ciara said wanting him to take the cue and leave but Reagan chose to stay which got her feeling more unedge.

But luckily for her, Willow came to take him away which got him leaving the room.

“My brother can be unbearable some time” Regina said as soon as Reagan left.

“Quite unbearable. Am glad I found someone who thinks just like me” Ciara added which got Regina laughing.

“Am glad that you are marrying him, he really needs someone by his side” Regina said which got Ciara looking away in guilt.

“Why does he need someone by his side when he has you and your siblings?”

” Just so you know. Me and my two brothers were not born by the queen mother”

“Our mother was the King’s concubine while the king and Princess Elvira are the only children the queen mother gave birth to”

“Due to this there’s been feud amongst the family which often weigh on the king which is why am glad that you are by his side, you will certainly make a perfect queen” Regina said.

Ciara could only nod to this cause she didn’t know if she will be pushing through with the wedding.

Now more than ever, she has to find a way to get out of this before she sink in deep.

A while Later, Ciara was being shown around the palace when Elvira came to join them.

“You can leave, I will continue touring her around” Elvira said to the head house keeper who gave a bow before leaving.

“Excited about being the queen?” Elvira asked.

“To be sincere it makes me feel strange. Just yesterday, I was living my life until I met his Majesty” she said having being told by the head house keeper to always refer to Reagan as his Majesty.

“So your story with his Majesty is one of being swept off your feet?” Elvira probe wanting to know more.

“Something like that” Ciara replied mildly.

“Why do I feel that there’s something more? ” Elvira asked.

“What can I be keeping from you?” Ciara asked in return hoping she didn’t notice some thing but the cunning Elvira did.

“You aren’t really in love with my brother right?” She asked suddenly.

“Of course I am, why would you think….”

” Do not lie. A girl who is eager to marry will be enthusiastic but you don’t show that sign at all”

“Tell me, is my brother forcing this marriage on you?” Elvira asked.

“Well he…he is” Ciara confirmed with a resign sigh. Some how she felt Elvira is the only who understands her.

“And you certainly don’t want this marriage right?” Elvira asked again which got her nodding in reply.

“Do you mind if I help you?” Elvira asked.

“Help me? Don’t tell me that you plan to stop this marriage. Reagan won’t allow it and he will be very angry if he finds out that….”

“I don’t intend to stop the marriage, I also don’t want to get my brother angry but he can’t force you into something you don’t want which is why am willing to help you escape” Elvira suggested.

” Escape? Won’t that be risky. I once ran away but he found me ”

“Don’t worry. The plan I have in mind will certainly get you far from him before he can do a thing to stop it. Do you want us to begin now?” Elvira asked which got Ciara thinking for a while.

“This is the only chance you’ve got at escaping and it’s the best” Elvira said which got Ciara agreeing.

A while later, Ciara made way to the throne room where she knew Reagan was having a meeting.

Willow announce her arrival to him and at first, she thought he would send her away but she was surprised when she was ushered into the room.

There was no one else present in the apart from Willow who left the room to give them privacy.

“I was told by the house keeper that I will be assign to little task like this and so I thought of making you one of my specialty” she said as she place the plate of hamburger in front of him.

“This seems fishy? Hope you didn’t poison it?” Reagan joke which got her pulling a long face.

“I didn’t ” she answered and was a little Surprised when he took a bite out of the hamburger.

Odd, Elvira had told her that one thing Reagan hates most in his life is hamburger.

Seeing the snack alone makes him angry and that had been their plan that he gets angry which will lead to a row between them and then Ciara will get the chance to be by herself and that’s when Elvira most trusted guard will come for her and help her leave the palace.

“Do you like it?” Ciara asked watching him with surprise.

“I do” Reagan replied.

” But I was told that you hate eating this” Ciara blurt out.

“Who told you that? Hamburger is one of my favourite….” He stopped talking when he suddenly cough out.

“Are you okay? Do you need water ?” She asked as she was about to pour him a glass of water when he siezed her hand.

“Who exactly told you to do this?” Reagan asked looking serious.

“Your sister”

“Which of my sister?”

“Princess Elvira, she told me that I…”

“What did you put in the hamburger?” Reagan asked as he found it hard to breathe.

“Just the normal stuff, are you okay?” She asked as she moved towards him cause he was coughing profusely.

“Reagan are you….Argh!” Ciara let out a scream when he cough out blood.

“Reagan! Someone help me” Ciara yelled for help and immediately Willow came running in.

“What happen?” Willow asked.

“I don’t know, I brought him a hamburger and….”

“What exactly did you put in it?” Willow asked.

“Nothing, just the normal ingredient” Ciara replied which got Willow pulling a suspicious face.

“What’s wrong? You do know why he’s like this right?” Ciara yelled at him while holding onto the unconcious Reagan.

“He’s been poisoned ” Willow answered.

Ciara stood against the wall starring at the closed door where Reagan is in with the doctor.

She heard footsteps arrive and she knew it would only be Reagan family.

She saw Regina and two boys whom Willow refer to as Rico and Rex arrive.

They all had worried look on their face and it’s all her fault. If something bad happens to Reagan , she won’t be able to bear it, she thought as she held onto her chest.

“The Queen has arrive” a call from the escort of the queen got everyone standing straight even the crying Ciara.

As soon as the queen got to where Ciara stood, she glared down at her in anger.

The doctor chose that precise moment to walk out of the room which earned him the attention of everyone.

“How’s my son?” The queen asked.

“Thanks to the immediate call I recieve, I was able to stop his allergy reaction from getting worse. If I may ask, who prepared the hamburger?” The doctor asked which got Ciara replying.

“And did you add beef to it cause beef is the one thing dangerous to his Majesty?” The doctor asked and she nodded again.

“I had no idea that he couldn’t eat beef? No one told…”

“How’s my son? Will he be okay?” The queen asked cutting Ciara off.

“He will, your highness. He’s been sedated and will wake up soon but until he does, he should be left alone ” The doctor told them before leaving with Willow.

When they left, the queen walk towards Ciara and gave her a startling slap.

“Were you trying to kill my son!” She yelled at Ciara just as Regina butt into the conversation.

“Your highness, she mustn’t have known that his Majesty is allergic to eating meat”

“Mind your darn business, you twerp. You are just like your mother who loves interfering in discussion that aren’t your business. Learn to stay in your place!” The queen yelled at Regina while Rex and Rico pulled her away to stop her from saying more.

“You’ve put my son in danger, it’s only right that you pay for it” the queen said as she turn to Ciara.

“That’s enough mom. She had no idea ” Elvira said as she walk into their midst.

“Why do you say that?” The queen asked.

” Cause I was there with her, let’s drop this issue already and hope that his Majesty gets well. Come with me Ciara” Elvira said as she walk off with Ciara.

As soon as they got to a room, Elvira made her seat on the bed before giving her a glass of water.

“You must have been scared?” Elvira said as she pat her head.

“Why didn’t you tell me that his Majesty is allergic to meat?” Ciara asked.

“That’s because I also found out myself. Reagan and I are siblings but we aren’t close, I hardly know things about him, if I had known then this wouldn’t have happened” Elvira said looking depressed.

” You don’t have to worry, I will take the blame for everything and…”

“No! If you do that then you won’t be able to get out of here. Let’s just put the blame on the maid who work in the kitchen with you ” Elvira suggested.

“But that will be cruelty and….”

“We have no choice. It’s either she takes the blame or you are confined here for the rest of your life. Is that what you want?” Elvira asked while Ciara shook her head.

“So then, we should try to make it work by….” Elvira didn’t get to finish her sentence when Willow arrived.

“I came to let you know that his Majesty is awake ” Willow said as he stared at Elvira who rolled her eyes in anger.

“Great then, I need to see him. Thanks Elvira” Ciara said as she left the room.

“What are you looking at?” Elvira said to Willow who kept starring at her.

“Nothing, your highness” Willow replied, giving a bow to her before leaving the room.

“Stupid servant! Luckily for that fool he survived this ordeal but I will make sure he doesn’t survive the next one” Elvira muttered to herself already thinking of a plan.

As soon as Rex got to his room, it was to see Bethany kneeling on the floor with her big @ss push out while wiping the floor.

“What a great sight” he said as he rested by the door way watching her.

“I was sent to clean your room and since you are back, I will come clean it later” she said wanting to leave but Rex stood in her path.

“Do you hate my guts?” He asked slowly.

“I dare not , your highness” she replied with her head bow.

“I think you do and I think it’s best that we resolve things with each other” Rex said.

“Tell me what you hate about me and I will try to fix it” Rex added.

“Am just a maid in the palace and whatever I say won’t matter. If you will please give me the chance to….what are you doing!” Bethany let out when he pulled her into his arms.

“It will matter to me, so tell me the grudge you hold against me and I will try to appease your mind” He insisted.

“Instead of manhandling me shouldn’t you be apologising for what you did at the pool side yesterday? ” Bethany asked.

“Why should I? It’s not everyday a maid gets to kiss a prince” Rex joked.

“You really think you are God gift for all women right?”

“I don’t know about anyone else but I do think myself to be one. Don’t tell me that you didn’t enjoy the kiss?”

“I didn’t enjoy it and I never will since it was tasteless ” she said as she got out of his arms.

“You’ve got a girlfriend right? Then I suggest you stay truthful to her cause guys who lie are the ones I hate most. Have a nice day your highness” Bethany said before walking past him.

Rex stood at the same spot thinking of what she said and slowly a smile lit his face.

He’s definitely gonna break that hard shell of her’s, He thought to himself.

Rico was in the garden going through his favourite novel when the door suddenly he saw someone jump over the wall and into the palace.

At first he was startled and thought it was a thief but when the thief turns out to be a very beautiful girl.

For a while he was stunned by her beauty that he sat still watching her but he came out of his reverie and quickly went to her.

“Who are you?” He asked as he stood in her path.

“Shit!” She let out and tried to leave but he held her back wondering how she got lovely green eyes.

“Let go of me!” She said trying to pull free.

“Not until you tell me who you are” Rico returned fiercely.

“It’s none of your business who I am so leave me alone” she said as she gave him a kick in the groin before running leaving the poor Rico in pain.

She kept running until she found a hidden spot.

“I can’t leave without helping Ciara have got to help her” she muttered to herself.

Ciara got to Reagan room only to see him sound asleep and not wanting to disturb him, she pulled a chair close to his bed and sat on it.

Taking hold of his hand, tears began to drop from her eyes.

“Am sorry. I didn’t know that you are allergic to meat, I only wanted to find a way to leave I didn’t know that my action will hurt you” she said under her breath.

” When I saw you coughing out blood, I was so scared, I thought you were going to die and…. Just get well soon, get back on your feet and bicker all day with me, we still have a wedding to prepare for” she added the last part without thinking.

“Does it mean what I think it is?” Reagan croak out softly which got her looking at him.

“You are awake ” she said In relief.

“Answer my question ” he said in return.

“What question?” The relieved Ciara asked.

“You said that we have a wedding to prepare. So, it means that you’re going to get married to me without making a fuss?” He asked.

“That’s isn’t what I…”

“There’s no going back on your word, You’ve agreed to be my wife and as soon as am up on my feet, we will get married” he declared which got her eyes widening in shock.
