CHAPTER 42… 😔

“what do you think your doing?!” Mira was taken aback by the hand that stopped her.

She looked at Anna who had the most serious expression she has ever had on her face.

“Don’t tell me you were about to enter her room?” Anna asked with a deadly look

If looks could kill..

” Actually I do” Mira just said instead looking casually. She didn’t want to rile her up cause she understood that Anna was just worried for her mother

“You have no right to”

“What does that mean?”…

“It’s means that this room is only reserved for family members” Anna said and pushed Mira away from the door and stood in front of it to block the entrance like a bodyguard…” and last time I checked you aren’t one of us”

Mira felt tears threatening to spill. Yes she wasn’t part of them and she had no one with her even in the huge mansion.

“Besides your the cause of her predicament” Anna accused.

” My innocence has already been proven ”

Anna smirked before saying… “If you had been the one to go first instead of my mom then she wouldn’t be in this condition”

Mira was baffled by what she heard
” So you wish I was the one to fall?”

“Yes”

“You know what.. I don’t care what you think but am glad am not the one that fell. You can’t blame me for how things turned out” Mira simply stated which angered Anna.

” You still have the courage to defend yourself? After what you caused?!!! ”

” I didn’t cause anything. The damage is already done and none of us can change it. So quit being tough and grow up Annabelle” with that Mira walked away…
Leaving Anna .

Everything had already been planned and it was to be carried out stealthily.

After all the planning, they came out from the study room when Mabel met them on the way.

“Good day sirs” she greeted . Ezekiel and Lucas responded but Mr Lockhart only nodded to her greetings and walked away probably to his wife room.

“Any problem Mabel?” Ezekiel asked as they move towards the staircase which was cleaned mysteriously after his Mira descended the stairs last night.

“Yes. It is a very sad thing that Bella had to leave us soon at such a young age” Mabel started and paused.

” How did her family take the news?”

“Not good. The mother is very desperate to see her child body as proof of her death” Mabel answered. The entered the large sitting room and Ezekiel and Lucas sat down .

“Tell her she will soon get to see her child corpse but will not bury her” Ezekiel explained.

” What?!! ” Mabel was surprised.

Why can’t her mother have the chance to bury her only daughter?

She knew this wouldn’t sit well with the family.

Bella was the only girl and they were poor people. She had an elder brother who was a drug addict and spent every little money he got on drugs. He was a black sheep in the family and Bella as the second born had to work hærd to take care of her two younger brothers.

Now she’s dead, the family especially the mother went hysterical hearing the news and Mabel knew it would worsen when they’re told that they can’t bury their own daughter.

“But that’s won’t sit well with her family” Mabel reasoned out.

” Well they have no choice cause we ain’t releasing her body for burial” Ezekiel said firmly leaving no room for argument.

” Anything else you have to say?” He sounded annoyed already.

” Well, as Bella is gone we need a replacement for her” was all Mabel could say. ” Or should I share her work among the maids?”

” there’s no need for that” Ezekiel said and yawned . So tired. Well…just put an advert for a new servant. Just replace her”

” How could you?”…
An angry voice yelled.

” I can’t believe you were saved once again Mira…. whyyyyy!!!!!” She dragged her hair. Not is working According to her plans anymore. And she had to get rid of her.

Yesterday she took her biggest risk to plan that fall for Mira. She didn’t only want Mira to be hurt but she wanted to also embarrassed her in front of everyone. She wanted to see her in pain but what happened instead, Mrs Lockhart got the pain. It destroyed everything.

When she saw that Mira stood at the top of the stairs,she was sure that they’ll blame her and throw her out but rather they decided to check the footage.

Thank God she decided to wear a cloak of not she would have been in trouble. She had already disposed of the cloak so no one would ever know she did it.

CHAPTER 43 and 44….. 🥵💘

CHAPTER 43… 🥵

“How could you?!!!” An angry voice yelled. It all happened in a flash and before anyone knew what was going on, a slap landed on Ezekiel’s cheeks.

Shocked….

That was how everyone was. Completely shocked at what had just happened. No one saw it coming.

“My daughter is dead . It has not been up to a day and you want to replace her already. Worst of all, you don’t want us to bury her. Who do you think you are?! ” The woman clutched his shirt by the collar.
The woman was Bella’s mother. Like Mabel said , she had been very hysterical after hearing that her one and only daughter was dead. In fact she couldn’t accept it. She wanted to see the body as pr proof before believing. That’s why she came to them Lockhart mansion when she heard that she won’t be able to get her daughter’s body.

Only for her to force her way in,side only for her to hear Ezekiel saying all this harshful things .. what annoyed her the most was hearing that she won’t be getting her daughter’s back.

“I’m sorry sir. I tried to stop her but she just forced her way through” the guard at the entrance of the mansion said apologize immediately.

“I want my daughter’s body and I want it now” she kept yelling and s¢ræming while clutching his shirt and rumpling it . Not like she cared anyway.

The guards had to forcefully pulled her away from Ezekiel Making his shirt year in the process.

“I want to see my daughter” she kept on yelling as she was dragged away.

“Sir I….” He couldn’t even complete his statement when Ezekiel raised his hand to stop him.

And left looking upset.

She yawned getting up. That was a very refreshing siesta. She didn’t enjoy last night sleep because of everything that happened but this little afternoon siesta she had really helped calm her down.

“God…. Isabella must be awake by that” Mira immediately got down from the bed and rushed to Isabella’s room but she bumped into Ezekiel on the way.

“Am sorry . I ….” That was when she realised he was shirtless. Mira inhaled deeply at the sight.

“It’s okay” his voice jerked her from her trance and she looked at him to see that he looks quite upset.

‘what made him turn sour like this’ mira wondered .

‘It must be because of the situations that have been happening since last night. I hope he cheers up soon’
Mira prayed in her heart.

She quickly headed to Isabella’s room and found that Isabella was still asleep. Not wanting to disturb her, she prepared her food and left it in hot water and left the room. Almost nearing her room, she remembered this morning when she wanted to visit Mrs Lockhart but anna stopped her.

But she remembered seeing anna leaving after that in the morning so this was an opportunity to go and see Mrs Lockhart.

She took a turn and headed for Mrs lockhart room. Standing in front of the room, she remember the one of the rules that Ezekiel told her before which was to always knock before entering her room. She gently knocked on the door and waited a while before hearing a soft voice saying come in.

Mira opened the door and entered and Mrs Lockhart gasped.

CHAPTER 44….. 💘

“You” it was obvious that she was surprised to see Mira in her room.

“Yes me” Mira replied back and entered fully.

“What are you doing here?” Mrs Lockhart asked.

“Came to see you”

Mrs Lockhart didn’t reply to that. Rather she tried to reach for the cup of water which she couldn’t because of her hand. She had a broken bone in her elbow which was taking its time to heal.

“Let me help you with that” Mira offered and got up immediately to get the water for her. She helped her to drink the water by placing the cup near her l-ips and tilted it for her to drink properly.

“Thank you” Mrs Lockhart was grateful. She had been feeling thirsty for a while. She tried calling someone to help but no one was hearing her calls. They seemed too far to hear her. Then when the door opened, she thought someone had heard her like the maids or her kids that’s why she was quite surprised to see Mira instead .

After drinking the water , Mrs Lockhart tried to lie down. Mira helped her again. Mrs lockhart leg which was partly swollen because of the fall wasn’t properly placed on the pillows so Mira also helped to adjust it . Till she was something that caught her attention.

The leg, yes it was swollen but it looked quite worsen. Maybe the drugs weren’t helping. Well she just started the drugs today though so it wasn’t a surprise that the leg was quite swollen.

Then something clicked in her head.

“I’ll be back” Mira immediately left the room.
Almost immediately, she was back with something in her hand.

“It’s balm” she sat at the end of the bed and carefully raised Mrs lockhart leg and placed it on her laps.

“Can I?”She had to take permission first in case she didn’t want it.

“What kind of balm is it?” Mrs lockhart asked .

“Tiger balm” Mira answered but Mrs Lockhart looked skeptical.

” It is said to relieve swelling on the feet or any part of the body I think” Mira said trying to clear her doubts.

” How did you come across?”

“My mom is a nurse. She uses it sometimes for patients with swollen leg and sometimes for herself”

Mrs Lockhart nodded.

” Should I? ” Mira asked once more and Mrs Lockhart gave her permission.

Mira opened the balm and began applying it gently on her leg . She massage it gently too.

“Hope it ain’t hurting?” Mira asked. Mira hadn’t heard a sound from Mrs Lockhart since she began the massage.
She looked at her. Mrs Lockhart eyes were closed . She was enjoying the massage that’s for sure.

“It isn’t” Mrs Lockhart replied without opening her eyes.

“In no time, your leg will be better”

“Hmmm”…

After a few minutes….. Mira stopped because Mrs Lockhart was already fast asleep. She had dozed off during the massage.

” Ma’am, do you need….” Mariam paused seeing Mira in Mrs Lockhart room arranging her leg pillow.

Mira looked at her and smiled.

“Welcome” …

“……”

“Don’t worry about her. As you can see, she perfectly well and resting”

With that mira left leaving Mariam mouth agape.

……2 weeks later….

Mrs Lockhart recovery was quite rapid and it was a thanks to Mira. She took out time to take care of Ezekiel’s child Isabella and his mother.

Mrs Lockhart could walk within a week thanks to the massage. Mira massage was really helpful and Mrs Lockhart decided to show her gratitude to her by helping her. She decided to train Mira in the university.

When the news was broken to Mira, it felt like a dream come true. She felt like she had wore a scholarsh¡p which it was only that Mira didn’t sit for any exam . She was given this for free.

” Thank you so much sir” it was Ezekiel who broke the news to her and Mira thought he was the one that offered it not knowing it was his mom.

But she also thanked his mom when it was revealed that it was Mrs Lockhart choice.

This caused Mira to become the enemies of many most especially mariam
.

She couldn’t believe her ears when she heard the news that Mrs Lockhart offered to have Mira trained in the university and for any course of get choice.

“Why is Mira always having so much luck?” The thing was frustrating and Killing her in,side. This was someone who started leaving in the mansion just a month ago and now… She was everyone sweetheart. But she … She had been working here for about 2 to 3years and no one ever notice the hærdwork she does every single day.

“Why can’t they ever notice me…. Why??? ”

” You have to go… And fast”.

Anna too wasn’t happy to hear this. Worst of all, it would be her university that Mira was going to attend since the university offered a wide range of courses.

This meant she would be stuck with Mira every morning and every evening except on special days.

She wasn’t even grateful that it was because of Mira that her mom was better . For all she cared, it was Mira that was responsible for her mom’s condition.

“I’ll make this journey a hell for you” .

Tomorrow, Mira would be starting the School. She felt so excited and eager that she couldn’t sleep. She went to the pool in the middle of the night and gazed upon the water.

“Can’t sleep?” She heard his voice . She turned around and saw him holding a glass of champagne. This had been his routine in the last 2wks.

“Hmm” Mira couldn’t even say anything reasonable yet. She was so excited.

” Have you decided on a course to study?” …
Mira then remembered. Yes they had already registered her, they didn’t chose a course for her to study. Ezekiel had earlier told her that she would pick a course the day she starts. And Mira hadn’t thought of anything reasonable to study. She had been too excited to remember anything.

He had even given her a phone to browse some good professions and maybe, just maybe , she would like one and pick . But then , she didn’t. She totally forgot about it.

“Yes I have” Mira lied .

“Really? Tell me what you decided on” Ezekiel asked and Mira froze . God… Why did she have to lie… What should she tell him now?

Doctor?
Lawyer?
Engineer?

‘nope’

“Well…. I…”

“Sir Ezekiel” Lucas called and Mira felt relieved. He had just saved her from thinking of another excuse.

“We need to talk” Lucas said and Ezekiel excused himself.

“Okay” Mira said and bade good night to them. They left Mira to leave.

After a while, Mira left. Feeling sleepy, she walked past Ezekiel study room till she heard some noise. She wanted to pass and ignore the noise since eaves dropping was good what they said caught her attention.

“Everything is falling. We are not only losing money but we are also losing workers”
