I gulped down the glass of vodka in total silence.
“Talk to me Iris, you’ve been absent for the past two days…” Glenda said

“Iris you might not believe me but I understand you perfectly! You have to look at things the way they are… Come to think of it, how possible is it for you to get a decent job? I mean you didn’t finish high school” Glenda said as I exhaled deeply.
“Glenda I don’t give a damn! All I want is to live a decent life so that no-one will dare talk to me the way that bastard Christopher Ramirez” I said
“You’re really so funny Iris! How could you forget so soon?” Glenda mocked
“Forget what?” I asked curiously
“Forgotten how this business helped you to survive” Glenda said
“Glenda! I don’t want this kind of life anymore but why is everybody against my decision?” I cried
“Am really sorry Iris but we have to face the truth” Glenda said as tears rolled down her cheeks too.

I opened the door and walked in.
My head was banging…. I was having a terrible headache.
I pushed the door closed and slumped on the couch.
Tears rushed down my cheeks.
Sometimes I wonder if I was born to suffer.

“Oh! You’re lucky you came earlier else she would have left for the hotel where she works” I said

“Yeah! As a waiter” I added as Iris walked to us.
She became visibly scared.
“Uhm… Sister he wants to see…” I said
“You get in,side Tina” Iris said as I nodded and walked in.

“What the hell are you doing here Chris?” I asked on a low tone
“I came to see you” He laughed

I picked up the clothes and arrange them into a box.
“My goodness Iris! Am so happy for you..i mean a date with…” Glenda rejoiced
“Enough Glenda! Why should I be excited? I hate that guy” I scre-med
“Oh please Iris! He’s going to change your life for good” Glenda said as she picked up a packet of biscuits and ate.
“Glenda you’re making me mad right now… Not like I really want to go on a date with that arrogant jerk, am only doing this so that Tina won’t find out the kind of work I do” I said.
“My gosh! Iris do you want to remain in poverty?” Glenda rolled her eyes.
“There are many good ways of getting money! Apart from dating the playboy” I said
“Still am very happy for you and your Prince Charming Chris” Glenda smiled.

I sat on the couch excited.

Finally, miss grumpy and I are going on a date.
I was still rejoicing when I heard a loud noise.

“How dare you Christopher?” She burst into tears as she landed a dirty slap on my cheeks.
I gulped angrily.
As I touched my cheeks and burst into laughter.
“Get out of here!” I scre-med as she flinched.
“You won’t get away with this Chris.. I will get back at you fool” She cried as she picked up her handbag and rushed out of the house.
“She’s so stupid! What made her think I want to have anything to do with her? She must be a dumb to believe that” I laughed.
“But boss… That woman looks really mad, I mean very crazy! She almost slapped off my cheek” Donald said rubbing his chin.
“That’s OK! At least she’s so out of my way” I said.
Just then, my cell phone rang aloud.
I looked at the caller’s name and smiled.

📲Hello…. The voice echoed from my cell phone’s speaker.

🔔 Ding Dong 🔔….. The doorbell rang noisily.
“Who could that be?” I thought
“Sister Iris! Are you expecting a visitor?” I asked

“No! Let me call her!” I said as I locked the door.
I walked into the kitchen.

“Yes ma’am! This is for you” He said and handed a big box of parcel to her.

“What’s this?” I asked as I kept the box on the table.
“My goodness! Sister Iris am really anxious!” Tina jumped for joy
I quickly opened the box as my jaw dropped.
it was a very beautiful long black ball gown… A black pair of heels and a black purse.
“OMG! This is really pretty!!” Tina said excitedly.
I saw a paper in it, so I opened the paper and read.
