Chapter 36

(A WEEK TO SCHOOL RESUMPTION)

(ROSEANNA’S HOUSE)

Every student prepares to return back to school, same as Roseanna who had already packed her bags.

Elizabeth is already at Roseanna’s house to see her off, She also assist too.

“So you’re really gonna leave me alone again?” Elizabeth pouts as she folds her hand.

Roseanna chuckles, “No way!! I am going to check on you when I get the chance anyways…” Roseanna says pulling the last bag out.

Soon, a car drives in and halts with Jason alighting the car. Roseanna pauses for a while but soon smiles brightly as she doesn’t know when she ran for a hug.

Jason spreads his hands apart to embrace her as she ran into his hands.

They embraced themselves tightly, staring at each other deeply as if it had been years since they last saw each other.

Elizabeth stood smiling they were really fit to ship as nice couple. “Awwwn… they look cute together”

Pulling out of the hug, Roseanna turns to Elizabeth. “Lizzy meet Jason”

“Nice to meet you” Elizabeth utters offering a handshake which Jason reciprocated, “And you too” Jason said smiling.

Turning back to Roseanna he asked, “Ready?”. Roseanna nods in affirmative yes!

Taking the bags from her, Jason puts it at the boot of the car and soon he was done.

Roseanna walks to Elizabeth and smiles, hugging her too. “See you later sis… Gonna miss you dearly”

“You too…” Breaking off from the hug, Roseanna walks back to the car. Waving at her, she enters the car and shut the door.

Jason turns on the ignition key and soon started the engine as the car slowly moves out.

“BYE!!!” Elizabeth screams, waving her hands numerous times till the car was out of sight.

Jason drives on the way on a slow speed with Roseanna and he glancing at him smiling he turns to look at her but she frowns.

“What’s it?” Jason asks with a raised eyebrows, confused at her expression.

“The car…”

“How???”

“You’re driving the car slowly!”

“Really… Okay” Jason chuckles as he increased the speed of the car.

Roseanna screams as she stretches her hand outside the car window.

Jason smiles at her naivety as he drives speed still road cautious.

Instead of riding straight to school, Jason took a U-turn and heads to the Park.

They stroll around discussing and laughing. They sat on the grass nearby, sitting close to each other.

“You did really not forget picking me up this week uh?” Roseanna says as she sips the pineapple juice.

“Why would I?” Jason says, and paused, “I missed you and couldn’t wait to see you again…”

Roseanna looks back at him and smiles, “I missed you too”.

Jason stares at her deeply in her face and curved his lips into a smile.

“You know what?… I think…” He deeps in deeply not knowing what to say.

Roseanna pauses and looks at him again, waiting for what he had to say.

“All this while, I cherished our closeness as friends even when we hadn’t known each other, that we always bumped into ourselves and it only made one meaning… Rosie… I want us to be closer than friends because you are the only one who I feel free to talk with and We even share similar past… I don’t know if I am rushing things out but I… want us to have a personal and closer relationship…”

Roseanna looks at him with eyes wide open, she was definitely surprised. To be sincere to herself, she also had feelings for him but she was scared of Starlet and just wanted to keep it cordial but…

On the other hand, Jason had said the truth. He could no longer keep it to himself, from the first day he saw her and the times they met at incidence, he developed a feeling of likeness to her…

” Jason” Roseanna managed to say.

” Shhhh… I meant everything I said … I love you…Roseanna” Jason said looking deeply into her eyes.

Roseanna eyes sparkled as she moves it round. She felt her cheeks turn red and flushing as smile crept up her lips, for the first time she felt shy as she darted her eyes away.

Roseanna and Jason walks together on the grass on bare feet as they were planning to leave.

Roseanna walks further than him while he paused for a while.

“Wait there Roseanna!!” He said as she turns back at him.

“What are you doing there…?” before she could complete her words, Jason ran up to her. Crossing his hands over her back, he slowly lowers his lips on hers.

(KALILA’S HOUSE)

“Mum… I will be leaving now” She says as she closes the boot of the booked car.

“Okay!!… Safe journey, always be a good girl” Her mom replies. She pecks her mom on her both cheeks and hugs her.

Katrina runs still in her pyjamas while holding her doll in her hand.

“You want to leave without telling me goodbye!” She pouts looking at Kalila.

” Oh, you’re awake, sorry…” Kalila lowers herself to her sister’s level and hugged her ” Bye” She says and stands up.

She heads towards the car and open the door. Entering inside she closes it and soon the driver slowly moves out.

“Bye Kalila!!!” Katrina shouts waving her hands.

” Bye!!!” Kalila returns throwing kisses in the air until the car was out of sight.

“Now come over and have your bath Katrina” The mother says. Holding her by the hand, they walked back to the house.

Chapter 37

ON THE ROAD
Jason drives on the road, this time heading back to school. Roseanna glances at him several times before darting her gazes outside the car window.

“I’m sorry if I told you this in a hurry, just …”

“It’s okay Jason, I understand” Roseanna said stopping him from completing his sentence. “Just promise me that you will stay and wait until I am through with everything concerning school…”

“I will…” Jason promised, he could wait as long as it was Roseanna who asked and he understood.

Driving back to school wasn’t a long journey as it only took minutes not up to an hour
.
Jason drives into the school straight to the hostel and comes to a halt.

He pauses and looks at Roseanna, “I hope you are not uncomfortable about what happened in the Park?” He asks as both alights from the car after taking off their seat belt.

A smile crept up on her face as her cheeks turns Starlet red with blush, without giving a reply to Jason.

“Don’t think ’bout that…”

” You too”

Taking her luggages out of the boot, Jason closes it.

“Don’t worry, I can help myself with it” Roseanna says trying to get the bags from him.

“No way!! I can do that myself too… least I carry you instead…” Jason said as he walks up the Hostel stairs with Roseanna following at the back.

Roseanna knocks on the door as Diana goes over to open it. Diana came back last night and Kalila in the morning.

“Thank you” Roseanna utters taking the bags from him.

“Okay… see you next time” Jason responded as she takes her bag from him and goes inside.

“Bye!!

Sure she was safely inside, Jason goes down the stairs, enters his car and drives off.

“Wow, it’s been so long since we last saw each other” Kalila says as she lazily sat on the chair.

“Yeah, so how was your holiday?” Diana asks no one in particular as she makes lunch.

” It was nice and okay but it didn’t stop me from missing you girls” Roseanna replies as she helps her out asks.

Class session resumes proper as students of Rick Foundation High School now attends lectures. Kalila and Roseanna almost attend same course as sciences while Diana as an art student.

Kalila wants to be a cardiologist, Roseanna a gynaecologist while Diana a barrister .

At the end of the lectures, the trios came out of their department and goes back to the hostel.

STARLET HOUSE
(The female friend doctor visit Starlet on a regular basis, giving her the do’s and the don’t about pregnancy).

She seats on the sofa with Starlet facing opposite her. Lea goes over to the kitchen to prepare meal for the three of them.

“You have to ensure that you take a well balanced meal, highly nutritious for you and your baby, have more intake of protein, minerals, vitamins and infact all the six classes of food should be in the right proportion and size”.

Starlet nods her head, listening very attentively as the doctor continues.

“Have a good personal hygiene, avoid strenuous work or exercise as you are advised to have a regular mild exercise and least I forget, you have to stop taking alcohol…” Lea comes in and serves her an orange juice with some slice of pancake.

Lea sits on the sofa too and turns to the doctor. “Felicia, can you please tell Starlet to avoid putting on tight clothing? She wouldn’t want listen to me!” she lamented.

“Yeah, Starlet. You will need to be wearing loose though comfortable dresses as your pregnancy advances. High heels should be avoided too!”

“What?? No! Not high heels!!” Starlet almost screams as she palm her face.

The doctor now known as Felicia chuckles, ” I mean it Starlet for your pregnancy and the good of you and your baby”.

Starlet sighs, removing her palm from her face, she rests her head on the chair rest.

“I think I need to get going” Felicia announces as she stands up after some minutes.

“Thank you so much Felicia, I will walk you out…” Lea says too and stands up, both goes over to the doctor’s car.

“Bye!!”

Lea walks back to the house, Starlet was seated but blank spaced.

“What’s on your mind?” Lea asks worried and concerned.
“My baby…, my parents!!”

Lea knowing where she was heading to, sighs.

“Starlet, remember our plan… Your parents will not be angry if they find out it’s Jason’s child… It will even make your marriage to him happen more quickly…”

Jason and Roseanna bonds grows deeper on a daily basis, always happy at each other presence. Visiting each other frequently and going out often, it didn’t make them neglect their studies.

Roseanna waits for Jason at a Garden, she stands close to a nearby river as the breeze blows soothingly.

She tries to remember some certain things but none seems to be coming through especially that of her childhood.

Jason arrives and sees Roseanna standing at the riverside, he smiles and walks up to her. He stands close to her, seeing her in thought, he gently taps her shoulder.

Roseanna jerks off from her thought and looks at Jason smiling as he smiles back. She turns to the river and watched it.

Jason stares at her closely as the breeze blows her hair gently making her look more pretty.

“The weather is beautiful isn’t it?” Roseanna asks, looking at him.

“Yeah, it is. It’s a part of nature, flowers, the river, the clouds are all beautiful… But you are more beautiful!!” Jason complimented.

Roseanna hits him playfully on his shoulder, “Here you go again with your words”

They walked round the garden holding their hands. Jason stopped walking, still holding her by the hand tenderly.

Roseanna turns to him, surprised he’d stop walking. She stared into his eyes, saying nothing. She removes hef gaze from his eyes to his hand seeing him hiding something behind.

“What are you hiding?”
Instead of replying, Jason held her hand. He brings out the Rose he hid and places it on her hand.

“I am giving you as my sign of love for you.. You’ve taken my heart and I want you to nuture it tenderly while you blossom… You are my Rose…”
Roseanna blushes as she held the flower firmly. She smiles and hugs him. “I love you too Jason”.

They spent time together until it was evening. They sat beside the burning wood to keep them warm as the weather wasn’t that friendly as before as it was getting cold.

They ate Barbecue sauce and drank some minerals while they watched the river, soon Roseanna fell asleep on his shoulder.

Jason looks at the sleeping Roseanna who rests her head on his shoulder and smiles, she was a cute sleeping beauty. Time to go, he carries Roseanna, heading out of the garden to his car.

Opening the front passenger door, he gently places her inside. He goes over to the driver’s seat, starting the ignition key, he zooms off back to the hostel.
