Chapter 33

(CONNOR’S MANSION)

Jason walks around the house, with a blank thought. He soon moves to the garden and stood for a while, he admires the flowers blooming and shading their different colors and fragrance. He sees the red roses that has bloomed brightly red, he remembers Roseanna and smiles brightly not realizing his mother standing behind him.

Carolina rests her hand on her son’s shoulder and looks at him. I grew the flowers myself and it seems you love it?”.
Jason coming out of thought nods his head and looks at his mother still smiling though not saying anything.

“You look so happy son, can I catch a glimpse of why my son is grinning so widely uh?”

” Mom is nothing actually…” Jason replied not wanting any further questions.

Carolina widens her eyes rolling her eyeballs and taps him teasingly. “No need to tell me Bec I already know the answer… ” Carolina smiles and looks into her son’s eyes.

“Starlet right?”

Jason let out a small sighs and stopped smiling. He curled his lips inwards looking for way to divert his mom’s question.

“Mom, I am totally fascinated about your love for flowers, well for me I love the rose flower most … and I will love to give one of it to her” Jason says looking in the direction of where the rose flower was located.

“Really son?, there is utterly no problem with that… Starlet must be very lucky to have you!” Carolina mistaken by her son’s sentence chuckles.

Jason stares at his mother. “If I keep on standing with her now, she wouldn’t stop mentioning Starlet name” he said to himself.

Taking the watering can from her, he walks a little bit and starts watering the plants
.
Carolina smiles at her son as she watches him do the watering. Her phone rings…

“Hello…. Oh yeah I will be there sooner” She says walking out of the garden.

Jason watches her leave and heaves a sigh of relief before he continues watering the plants.

(JEFFREY’S HOME)

Chatting and laughter is heard between Carolina, Helena and Hunter, the parents of Starlet at the dinning table.

“So how about your daughter… I mean my daughter-in-law” Carolina said in between chuckles.

“She totally fine, you know she is always okay and hardly have a problem and being with Jason makes her protected, younno…” Helena says as she drops her cup of coffee on the table.

” Awwwn, they always look cute together, wish they would get married after school, you know it would tighten up our bond the more” Carolina spoke.

Hunter, leaning his chair forward and slightly rubbing his beard thinking on what to say.

” Why don’t we invite our daughter and your son for a lunch with us, maybe there we will fully know if they are actually interested in each other” He suggested which both women quickly agree.

” Of course…”

” Surely, why not?…”

The trios concluded on the date when Jason and Starlet will be invited for lunch with them.

(STARLET ROOM)

Starlet picks her phone from the bed and goes straight to her contact, tapping on Alvin’s contact, she calls him as she holds her stomach.

“Alvin!” Starlet muttered as Alvin receives the phone call.

“Alvin…I-I-I have- s-s-some-th-ing to tell you” Starlet stammers.

“Go on…” Alvin confused by her stammering statement needed more clarification.

“Alvin… Alvin…”

“Starlet, please can you stop beating around the bush and tell me what is bothering you!”

“Alvin… I just want to tell you that I-I-I am pregnant, Alvin… I am carrying our child” Starlet let out.

“Excuse me!” Alvin lashed “I think you are entirely mistaken… because it’s totally not possible… Starlet it can’t be true!”

“Alvin do you think I am lying… I performed some pregnancy test and it confirmed that I am pregnant!”

“Did it also confirm that I am the father? You’ve gone to spend your night with someone else and got pregnant and yet you tell me that I am responsible?”

“Yes you are responsible!… I have not slept with anyone except you and now you are denying it Alvin!” Starlet screams admist tears which was hot and ready to fall down her cheeks.

“And how am I supposed to believe that uh?” Alvin retorted.

“Alvin…” Starlet slowly said as she finally let the tears streak down.

“Well… If I am actually responsible for that baby… you will have to ab*ort it because I am not ready to become a father!” Alvin spat.

Chapter 34
Continuation from the last chapter;

“Well… If I am actually responsible for that baby… you will have to ab*ort it because I am not ready to become a father!” Alvin spat out angrily which hurt Starlet even more.

Sniffing her nose into her handkerchief, she yelled in a lowered voice. “I will not ab*ort our child Alvin… If you don’t want to take responsibility… Then I will!”

Alvin hangs up the phone call which bitterly hurt Starlet, She felt denied. Thinking on what to do, she quickly opens her drawer and took out some pills, hoping to swallow each pills.

Lea walks inside Starlet room and gasps. She had been with Starlet all this while after being confirmed pregnant, she knew Starlet might act stūpìd.

She hurries over to Starlet and grips her hand in attempt to collect the pills from her.

“What’s wrong with you! Don’t you ever consider your unborn child?” Lea yells struggling with her to get the drugs.

The drugs goes up and landed at the other side of the room. Lea flared up and lands Starlet a slap.

“Don’t you ever try this again!”

Starlet held her right cheek in shock as tears roll down her cheeks, she was not expecting that.

“Why do you want to hurt the baby who did nothing wrong to you…”

” It did!” Starlet cuts her short. “It-did… It makes me look like a rejected and used person that I am not supposed to be!”

” Shut *up Starlet, you caused everything and you have the mind to speak… Have you forgotten who Alvin really is?” Lea lets out a loud sigh and continues. ” Starlet, remember if you try ab*orting this child, it’s not gonna be p the first nor the second nor the third…. You are completely damaging your womb!… ”

” I don’t wanna bear a child without a father… He shouldn’t be fatherless! ” Starlet sniffs I’m between tears.

Lea, placing her hands on Starlet shoulder and using her other hand to lift her chin up, look into her eyes.

“Father? You’re talking about father…. If Alvin refuses to take his responsibility, someone else- will-take-it” Lea smiles mischievously.

Looking into Lea”s eyes, Starlet was utterly confused. ” W-h-a-t what d-o do you me-an? She stammers blinking her eyes several times.

Standing up from the bed smiling, Lea folds her hand and walks round the room.

“You can make someone else your baby’s father… and that is… Jason…”

(AT ROSEANNA’S HOUSE)

Elizabeth is seen with Roseanna doing some embroidery designs on a cloth while Roseanna helps her out too under an orange tree.

“It two weeks to go for you to return back to school and I am already missing you… How do you plan to leave?” Elizabeth asks pausing what she was doing.

“I don’t know… Maybe next week or weekend… really I gonna miss you too” Roseanna replies concerned.

“Rosie! Rosie!!” Her grandma calls from inside.

“Yes grandma!”

“Can you help me with something over here?” her Grandma requested.

“Okay!” Dropping the dress with Elizabeth she walks into the house.

Jason is all dressed up, he goes down the stairs to the sitting room where his mother was.

“You’re going out?” Carolina asks.

“Yeah mom” Jason replied adjusting his watch without looking at his mother.

“Mind if I say something?”

“No problem…”

Taking her time to choose her words, Carolina sighs.

“Son… I and Starlet parents…”

At the mention of Starlet, Jason frowns but hid his reaction.

” Yeah… I mean… We planned that all of us. Both you and Starlet will have lunch at their house by weekend. So…”

Jason sighs and palms his face, breathing in very deeply. “Mom I wouldn’t be around during then and…” Not wanting to say anything about his new feelings, he kept quiet.

“Son… I knew you were to be busy but we really thought it would be nice for all of us to have lunch together at weekend… You love Starlet right? So why don’t reschedule your plans for the weekend and stay with her a bit at least know each other more at least before getting married “.

” Getting married?” Jason scoffs, ” Not…” Before completing his sentence a phone call came through.

” Mum… I will be back soon” he kissed her cheeks and left the house to his surprised mom.

Chapter 35

(BASKETBALL STADIUM PRACTICE)
The players of Red Tiger is seen practicing but Jason is half-spaced in his thoughts not fully aware of what he was doing.

The ball got to him every times but he misses scoring a goal or dunking the ball.

His pals notices his is disturbed and immediately practice was over, they walk up to him.

“Dude, what’s up, you look gloomy, you weren’t even concentrated on our practice?” Nicole asks Jason who takes a bottle of water and drank.

Jason sighs as he drops the bottle back to his bag and sat on a nearby bench as Nicole and Charles follows suit.

Jason palm his face, closing his eyes and let out a deep breathe.

“Starlet? Are you having issues with her?” Charles asks unknowingly to him angers Jason the more.

Jason doesn’t reply but lowers his head. Seeing that he wouldn’t respond, they gave him some time to be alone.

Driving back home, Jason was in a deep thought. How would his mom be able to understand that he doesn’t have feelings for Starlet not even for once, he just had to play that he does and now both families had planned for lunch at even Starlet parents home. Her closeness to Starlet parents wouldn’t be the same between he and Starlet. He sighs but keeps on driving.

(WEEKEND)
(AT STARLET JEFFERY HOME)

Connor and Jeffrey family are seen at the dinning table with Starlet but Jason is not yet present.

Starlet is dressed in flowery purple and white drape skirt and a white peplum top. She is eagerly awaiting Jason’s arrival and soon he comes in.

“Oh my! You’re here” Helena exclaims soon as Jason steps in.

“Son, how have you been?” Hunter Jeffrey asks offering a handshake which Jason reciprocated while forcing a smile on his face.

Jason looks at each of them and suddenly met eyes with Starlet but frowns. Starlet smiles as she sway her hair, blinking her eyes several times.

“I think we are complete now, so let’s start eating you know”. Helena says.

” Sure”

Starlet serves herself whole fully and turns to serve Jason.

“Never mind” Jason spats taking the plate from her.

Starlet feels uneasy after some spoons of the meal and covers her mouth. Trying to hide it, she takes another spoon but soon stood up running to a nearby bathroom.

Helena confused by her daughter’s behavior stares at her as she runs. Jason looks up too and shrugs.

Moment later, Starlet walks in back to the dinning room and sat down.

“Are you okay Starlet?” Her mom asks which she nods. She picks up her spoon and tries to eat but loses the appetite.

” Mom, I’m not hungry!” She sighs resting her head on the chair.

” Why?… You don’t like the food?… or is there too much spice on it? Tell me” Helena asks concerned and worried.

“No mum… I can’t” Standing up from the dinning chair, she drops her cutlery and walks over to the sitting room.

“Please, don’t mind my daughter’s behavior now, I guess she has already eaten before coming here or a little sick?” Hunter said to them actually referring to Jason.

Tired of the whole drama, Jason drops his cutlery and stands up. Slamming the chair to the table, he sighs and walks out.

He walks over to the swing and sat on it. Ruffling his hair, and palming his face, he cracks his knuckles.

Staring out into space, he suddenly brought back with a sudden tap on his shoulder.

“I’m sorry for the behavior I display at the dinning… it’s just because I am not feeling okay which made me uneasy. I’m sorry!” Starlet says as she joins him and sits.

Placing her hands on his thigh and gently stroke it, she looks at him. “I’m sorry if I have offended you in anyway. I want us to go back to the way we were. The love we once shared, that feeling…”

Jason eyes turn red, he squint his eyes and turns his lips inwards. Removing Starlet hand off his thighs, he sighs.

“We can never be together!… Please let me be!!” Jason spat.

Shocked and confused by his words, Starlet stares into his face with tears simmering in her eyes.

“You-you don’t love me?”

Jason fed up with it, stood up and sighs but Starlet follows him too.

She looks around and sees Carolina, Jason’s mom and smiles.

“Jason… I-I want to invite you for my birthday party, am sure you will come… Won’t you? ” She says as she draws closer to him.

” Sure, he will, isn’t it Son?” Carolina asks as she met them without waiting for Jason’s reply.

” Son, I always want the best for you and such is Starlet… I know you love her and certainly would do anything for her and me especially. Wouldn’t you? ”

Jason glared at his mother this time, she is definitely passing her limit.

“Mom! I have the choice and decision to make myself please!!” he sighs and walks out over to his car.

Carolina turns and sees Starlet in tears, she feels bad. “Shush… It’s enough now” She says as she uses her thumb to clean her tears. She hugs her tightly.

“I love you Starlet, I love you as a daughter… I hate seeing you cry… Please!”

Starlet watches Jason enter his car and drives off. She smiles.

You might ignore me now but not forever JASON!!
