✍️ CHAPTER TITLE ✍️: A Sight of her… part 2

The moment Caleb was done telling about his encounter with Crystal and was waiting on John for a response, Damien immediately started going to search for Crystal himself.

His inability to control his anger joined together with his irritation towards it earlier, and till now, he pulled the nose mask away from his face. Damien threw the mask aside without bothering about the consequences and neither did he stop walking.

“Oh, shit!” Caleb cried out when he noticed the people present, who were starting to realize Damien’s presence and had started going closer to him, without minding the anger on his face.

In the past, women found it difficult to always go to him, but due to the latest news in town that he had a photoshoot done with a female model for the first time, they did not see any reason to hold back and not move close to him.

“Please watch after Annabel for me, I’ll go help Damien get out of here,” Caleb told to John who had a stressed expression on his face.

Annabel where she stood with Salle had noticed the sudden noise in here and when she turned to see what had happened, her eyes ran into Caleb whom they’d been searching for, without knowing where he went.

Not wasting a second she ran to him, standing beside him, and was about to question, with her eyes observing the detective who was staring at her.

“Where have you been, Caleb?” She asked, but before she could get a reply or say more, John grabbed both her hand and Salle’s hand that stood beside him.

“Go with him for now, Damien and us ain’t safe here anymore.” Caleb rushed his words then he left the spot to go closer to Damien.

It wasn’t easy sending those fans away and bringing Damien out of the crowd. The number of times a flash of light came across his face couldn’t be counted and so was the amount of hands that touched his body. There was no way many highlights wouldn’t be up about him soon.

The three guards couldn’t do much, especially when one of them was strictly made to stay close to Annabel and protect her.

All the love from the fans was annoying Damien as he knew what they’d made him lose with their persistent attitudes. They allowed Crystal to escape from him because they decided to come around when he never wanted them to. Well, he has never wanted them around him.

“You shouldn’t have removed your nose mask. I told you she already left,” Caleb nagged while in the car that was returning them home.

“I don’t owe anyone how I live my life. Are you sure you saw her?” Damien asked, his phone making sounds in his hand as he operated it aggressively.

“Maybe I got myself beaten up to prove a point then,” Caleb answered sarcastically, not wanting the reply to be funny, but for it to annoy Damien.

“What did John say about Annabel?” Damien questioned, his eyes not rising from what he was doing on his phone.

“He’s on his way to drop her.” A short reply from Caleb and all Damien did was nod his head.

John should be in the mansion as soon as possible, so they could find out that demon’s whereabouts. Damien won’t spare her if he grabs a hold on her neck.

Annabel had chosen not to say a word all through the period of being with the stranger whom Caleb had asked her to go with.

Although Sally had tried to bring up a nice conversation several times, Annabel always waved it off, worried by the fact that Damien was in danger the last time she saw him.

They went out to have a good time together, and she started enjoying herself when suddenly everything changed and in the next few minutes Damien was in the crowd trying to be free from the fame.

Damien had advised to take off her nose mask earlier, but why did he remove his nose mask? All those problems wouldn’t have taken place and she wouldn’t be here sad and worried about him.

Annabel wondered how Vera was doing wherever she was. Has the princess started forgetting about them after she got her previous life back? Annabel missed Vera a lot and she had hoped for a miracle to take place during the outing and then she would probably meet with her, but not all imagination comes to pass.

When the car stopped by the mansion’s gate after driving for minutes, John had a problem telling the security guards who he was. Then Annabel took it upon herself, she made her appearance known to them in the car and the gate was opened.

The car drove into the mansion and before coming down, Annabel said to Salle who had stopped trying to start a discussion with her and was instead quiet. “It was nice meeting you, Salle.” Annabel smiled softly after saying then she got out of the car.

It was after getting down properly from the car that she noticed Damien’s other car that was parked. A sigh of relief, she was happy knowing Damien and Caleb had returned home.

“Thank you,” she murmured to John who faked a smile at her before walking to the building with her walking two feet ahead of him.

Damien came out of the building when they were close to the entrance and at that moment his eyes fell on Annabel, he moved faster to her side and quickly hugged her.

“Damien, are you fine?” Annabel asked and he answered. He checked her body all over to see if any scratch was on her body, but there was none.

“What have you done about the situation? Any information?” Damien asked John, bringing Annabel to his side and resting his arm on her shoulder.

“I’ll go back to the mall. Their security cameras need to be checked out. I’ve brought your sister, make sure to keep an eye on her. I don’t know why I feel that she came there purposely to announce her arrival to the country,” John shared his idea.

Damien raised his brows in suspicion, wanting to reason if what John said was true, or if Crystal had come over there just to take Annabel away. But, how did she find out about their whereabouts if she truthfully came after them?

“Go and stay with Caleb. Make sure to eat and no tears, I’ll be back.” Damien said to her and walked her inside the building before coming back to meet with John.

“I’ll come with you to the mall,” Damien told to the man who stood there waiting for him. “What about your face? You can’t come with me like this or there-”

“Don’t bother about that, I have my mask with me,” Damien informed before he could complete his statement. That should be enough to hide his identity, coupled with the fact that he has changed his outfit to something casual.

Later they both walked back to John’s car with Damien taking the risk of not leaving with any guards with him since he didn’t want to create another suspicion that would create problems over there or disrupt his mission.

“We’ll have to make use of your influence to get what we want,” John said after igniting the car and starting to drive, whereas Damien just remained quiet.

She wore a contagious smile on her face to the reception as she needed to pick her room’s key from there.

When the male receptionist smiled at the average-looking woman who gave him a sexy smile, he handed over the key to her without questioning her.

The smile on her face fell the moment she stepped into the room and locked the door behind her. Removing the veil that was being used to hide her identity just in case Damien had someone to trail after her.

The plan she had for the day didn’t go according to her plan and it made her feel terrible and angry at herself for failing to win today.

If not for that son of hers, she would have succeeded in bringing Annabel over here by now.

All thanks to that useless chef at Damien’s mansion who got her distracted with his complaint and Caleb managed to hear her voice.

How time flies and how kids grow faster than the parents would ever be expected. She wasn’t expecting to have grown so well. Caleb Is her son, and even if he doesn’t know about her relationship with him, there’s a bond that would draw him closer to where she is when everything is finally over.

Now that she’s back to her safe place. A place where nobody knew she was there, she could finally go for that son of do..om who almost got her exposed today. That Smart which he bears as his name was only a decoration, he isn’t smart in any way.

“Was it Crystal that did this to you?” Annabel asked, seeing the bruises all over Caleb’s back as he lay on his stomach.

“Hum,” Caleb hummed, answering her question.

“What a lazy man. You watched an old woman beat you up to this stage?” Annabel furrowed her brows as she stared at the bruises that had dried blood stains on them.

“Really? You asked to attend to it for me, and now you’re scolding me?” Caleb blurted out. His voice was heavy, many things running through his mind, and a lot of reasons to be restless.

“I wasn’t scolding you. I only asked a man who fights me often how an old woman managed to beat him up, “Annabel taunted, grinning hard as she saw the frown on Caleb’s face.

“The next time I meet with her, I’ll make sure you engage in a fight together. After all, you both are women with the same energy,” Caleb’s voice came out thick, due to his present position.

“That’s what lazy men do, they threaten others for their laziness,” Annabel hissed and brought the cotton wool which she had applied a methylated spirit closer to the bruises.

Caleb didn’t see that coming as he wasn’t in the position to see what Annabel was doing behind his back, he had to flinch the moment that came in contact with his skin.

“Where has Damien gone to?” Annabel wanting to clear the doubt in her mind asked. She gave him the space to bear the pain before he replied.

“To the mall,” he replied calmly and the rest of the moment was silence.

“I met them kissing and you weren’t expecting me to stand there and smile at that,” Andromeda scoffed. The princesses laid their bodies opposite each other on the bed and were trying to catch up with some past memories by discussing about it.

“Did he come to apologize later?” Vera asked, wanting to hear a positive response but it was all an imagination. Not all men realize their mistakes after cheating on a woman who loves them so much.

“That brat? He never came and I didn’t care. After all, I can always be with Caleb if I want,” Andromeda blurted and she didn’t miss the disturbed expression that appeared on Vera’s face before it disappeared like it was never there.

“Oh, that……” Vera simply replied and didn’t say much afterward.

Andromeda had noticed the sour expression of Vera, but could not say anything about it. Initially, she didn’t plan to like Caleb but tonight, she wouldn’t mind taunting Vera with the thought of the two sisters liking the two friends.

“Can I get Caleb’s number from you? I need to check on Annabel,” Vera requested and Andromeda didn’t waste her time before reaching for her phone while giving it to Vera.

Vera copied the number to her phone and immediately dialed the number, hoping Caleb wouldn’t mind it being a strange number and would instead pick up.

It rang twice and Caleb didn’t pick up. Seeing the number hung up for the third time, Vera’s shoulder relaxed where she sat on the bed.

“Should I call him for you?” Andromeda offered and without having a choice, Vera accepted.

“He didn’t pick, maybe he’s busy,” Andromeda confirmed to her disappointment once again and all she could do was sigh.

Vera could only hope that everything was going well over there and none of them had been faced with any problem. She hoped for Annabel to be doing well, as Vera doubted if she would be able to stop crying over her leaving.

“I saw it in the news earlier that Damien was spotted at the mall, and fans were all over him. They might be busy sorting that out,” Andromeda shared to ease the sadness of her sister who had a worried look on her face.

“If I don’t hear from them in the morning, I’ll visit the mansion. I hope that Annabel is fine, she would have cried so much.” Vera stated and Andromeda nodded her head in support of what she said.

“When are you going to your room?” Vera wrapping her mind over it asked, and a sharp glare came from Annabel to her.

“If you’re sending me away because of the light that is switched on, then I’m sorry to announce that I’ll sleep here tonight. Wrap your mind completely in accepting me,” Andromeda answered sharply and smuggled her body under the duvet.

“You’re a nuisance,” Vera cried out.

“Yes baby, I’m aware.” Andromeda winked at her after saying.
