” What’s he doing here?” Todd asks.
I sigh and cross my arms.
” We’re f-cking, get out.” Judah says behind me.
I turn around and glare at him as I swat his chest. He smirks up at me bites his bottom lip. He looks down at Todd and huffs. I can’t let them fight. Because physically Todd isn’t a match for Judah, I can’t watch my neighbor beat up my ex boyfriend.
” Can you excuse us? Please?” I ask Judah.
Judah looks down at me for confirmation and I nod. I gesture for him to go in,side and he did, not after shooting Todd a death glare. I shut my door and step out on the porch.
” Why’s he here Serena?” He asks and I cross my arms.
” You can’t just slap me yesterday and come over to my house to ask me why my neighbor is in my house.”
” This isn’t any neighbor Serena, this is Judah.”
” So what?”
” You know he’s gonna hurt you.”
” Hurt me more than you’ve hurt me?” I ask him.
Todd doesn’t reply as he sighs.
” Why are you here?”
” I’m sorry. I was angry and I couldn’t control my temper, I had to take it out on you.”
” Okay. I’ve heard you, you should go.”
Disappointment flash through his eyes as he looks at me.
” Serena please. I’m really sorry. I won’t hurt you anymore I swear. Please I want you back, you can’t just leave me for him.”
” Todd you’ve done enough. I’m not leaving you for Judah or anyone. I’m done Todd, we’re done. I was serious when I said it was over. I can’t deal with your anger issues. You want me to be more but I can’t be more for you, Todd. We can’t work and you know it.”
” We can work and you know it. I messed up big time, I know and I’m so sorry. Serena please forgive me, you should give me another chance.”
” No, Todd. I’ve given you a lot of chances and I’m not giving you any more chances. It’s over Todd and I’m serious.”
” So you’re breaking up with me because of Judah? What does he have that I don’t have? What’s happening to you Serena? What has he fed you with? This isn’t you, you can’t just leave, just like that.” He says.
I sigh. ” Todd, we can’t be together. I’m not breaking up with you because of Judah. I’m breaking up with you because I can’t tolerate you anymore. I’ve tried to overlook all your shit and keep up with it. You didn’t even tell me you had a sister and I had to find out yesterday. Todd, this is not gonna work. We can’t work and I’m not willing to take you back, not after the stunt you pulled yesterday.”
” I know and I’m sorry. Please Serena, I’m sorry and I mean it. One last chance and I promise not to f-ck this up.”
” We’re done. You are Todd and you’re rich , you can actually get whatever girl you want. I don’t want you anymore.” I say and walk in,side my apartment.
I turn around to look at Todd, his eyes holds different emotions that i can’t read. He’s disappointed. It’s like no one has ever rejected him before. Todd might be an assh-le, but a lot of girls would do anything to trade places with me, not knowing what they are getting involved with.
I shut my door and run my fingers through my hair and go to my kitchen. Judah’s on the phone when I entered.
” Talk later.” He hangs up and pocket his phone.
I stand on the other side of the counter and look down at the counter. For some reasons I can’t meet Judah’s eyes.
” What did he do to you?”
” Nothing.” I sigh.
” He hit you right?” Judah asks and I’m forced to look up at him.
His eyebrows furrows as he watches me.
” Did he hit you?” He asks again, this time anger laced on his voice.
” How did you know that? I mean what makes you think so?”
” His father.”
” So you know them that much?” I ask. Judah doesn’t look pleased with the question but he doesn’t show it.
” I don’t.”
” You said you worked for him once? Did you kill someone for him?” I ask him. It’s just so hærd to think Judah had killed someone.
His features doesn’t look like one.
” You don’t like murderers?” He asks and stands up. I watch him walk round the counter, his eyes not moving away from me.
” That is not answer Judah.”
” Hmm…” I tense when I feel him behind my back.
I feel goosebumps begin to rise on my skin. I breathe in a sharp breath at once. He’s not touching me yet and I’m already responding to him. This isn’t right.
” And you didn’t answer mine either.” Judah says. I feel his presence really close to me. I don’t move or say a word to him.
I freeze at once when I feel his fingers slowly push my hair to the side to give him access to my neck. The goosebumps are already visible. I can feel him smirking.
” Look what I do to you without even touching you.” He whispers against my neck, his hand going to my wa-ist.
I breathe in sharply and exhale through my nose. Oh Serena, put yourself together.
F-ck, no, I can’t. He has taken over my brain and I can’t think properly again. Judah plants a soft k-ss on my bare neck and I shudder. I grip tightly to the edge of the counter and bite my lip to stop me from mo-ning.
Judah plants another soft k-ss on my neck close to my ear and I’m already whimpering.
” You’re w-t.” He whispers.
His hand slide underneath my t-shirt as he car-sses my skin. I need to stop him, this is the part were it gets real. I mean I just had a fight with Todd, shouldn’t I be thinking of what I want and not falling for Judah’s sed-ction. His hand carress my stomach down to the wa-istline of my shorts.
His hand slip past the wa-istline of my shorts and my heart beat skip. I shouldn’t do this. Not now not with Judah. But I can’t stop him, i liked it. Judah stops his sinful act and pull away. He turns me around to face him. His green eyes crowded with lust. I watch how his eyes holds a lot of emotions as we lock eyes together.
” I’m not a murderer.” He says out of the blue.
” I don’t take lives, maybe I ruin a little.” He smirks and looks down at my l-ips.
” What type of job did you do for Albert?” I breathe out inaudibly.
” Something illegal. I can’t tell you, not now.”
He leans closer to me with both his hands on either side of me as they rest on the counter.
” You’re pretty, Todd has no right to hurt you. You deserve a lot better. Someone better than me.” He says and tuck my loose strands of hair behind my hair.
I watch him pull away and turns around as he leaves my apartment. This so difficult than I thought.
I look through my closet for a dress to wear to sorority. It’s evening already and I’m sure Chloe would be expecting me. I should take their phone numbers, I badly need it. I settle for a red dress and black stilettos. I curl my hair and comb it to waves. After applying a little make-up I walk out my front door to my car.
I slide in,side and drop my phone on the passenger seat. I ignite the engine and drive into the cold night. I t-rn on the radio, backstreet boys stream on the radio. My drive to the sorority house is short. I look at the lines of cars on the road and this so filled up. Who knew girls would love to throw a party by themselves.
I look for a s₱0t to park my car and every s₱0t is occupied. I park my car on an empty s₱0t which isn’t close to the sorority house as I step out. I pick up my purse and walk down the sidewalk. The outside is filled girls and red cups and most of them are already drunk. I promised Chloe I’m gonna be here. And it’s still strange, she likes this type of parties, isn’t she supposed to be a nerd?
I walk past the door and somebody wears a bunny headband on my hair. I turn to look at who did it and she’s already gone. That’s kinda weird. I look around the house and each couch is filled with girls who are either drunk or tipsy. The girls dance to the loud music blaring out of the radio while some make out in the corner. I go to the kitchen to find something to drink when someone grabs my arm.
I turn around and I’m surprised to see her.
” Diana.”
” Hey, what are you doing here?” She asks and smiles at me.
She still has her blonde hair on and she looks lively than the other day we met at her family’s terrible dinner.
” Partying. What are you doing here?” She asks me.
” A friend invited me. Since this is sorority’s first party, I thought I should storm it.” I smile at her.
She reaches for the bunny headband on my hair and pull it out as she stares at it.
” What does it mean? Some random person put it in my hair.”
She chuckles.” It’s like the hottest girl tonight.”
” What?” I giggle.
” You get one of these if you’re one of the hottest in the house. You’re hot.” She says and put it back.
” Who invited you?” Diana asks.
” Chloe, a friend of mine. Have you seen her around? Great blonde hair, wears glasses and…”
” I know her. Come on, let me take you to her.” Diana grabs my wrist and leads me back to the living room.
We walk to the extreme, girls sits around on the couch all with red cups. I scan the girls and a familiar blonde hair catches my attention. She’s sharing cup cakes for the girls as they take it.
” Chloe…” Diana calls her.
She raises her head up as she sees me. She smiles widely and rush to hug me.
” You made it.” She giggles as we pull apart.
” I thought you won’t show up.”
” I made a promise. I wanted to see how a sorority party rocks. Truth is , this is better than frat.” I tell her and we chuckle.
” You look beautiful. You earn the headband.”
” Yeah, I guess.” I smile and scan her outfit.
This is kinda a different Chloe. The hot version. She wears a boyfriend jeans and white short sleeve crop top. She still has her glasses on and her hair is nicely straightend.
” You look…” I trail off and smile at her.
” What?” Chloe laughs.
” Beautiful.” I say. Diana clears her throat behind Chloe.
” Oh, hi, Diana. You two know each other?” Chloe asks.
” Yeah. She’s my sick brother’s girlfriend. Of course I know her.” Diana shrugs.
” Um… we’re not together anymore.”
” You broke up with Todd?” Chloe exclaim loudly. Thank God for the loud music.
” Shh, Chloe, breathe.”
” I’m sorry, I didn’t expect that.” She pouts.
” Me neither. What did he do to you? Chloe go get her something to drink.” Diana says. Chloe nods and scurries away.
Diana grabs my wrist and walk me out of the living room. She opens a door that leads to the backyard as she shuts the door. The music blares silently through the closed door.
” What happened?”
” That night after walking out, Todd followed me actually. He slapped me.”
” F-cking prick. I’m really sorry about that. It’s kinda used to him, he’s just like my father.”
” I’m sorry about what he did to you…”
” No, it’s fine. I’m used to it. That’s why I sometimes skip the family’s Friday dinner on purpose. That’s just my dad, he’s been my beating my mom since when I was fifteen. And now I’m twenty one, that d*ck of a father still hits both of us.”
” That’s sad. Why not report him to the cops.”
” I’m not sure you know my father. He has his ways around. He always get out from any bad shit he planted. And Todd, he took after my dad. Always hitting his girlfriends.”
” Girlfriends?” I ask out of curiosity.
” Yes girlfriends. You know Summer right? That f-cking bitch that turns out to be Todd’s friend and they are still f-cking each other. Well, he caught her cheating on him and beat the shit out of her. Her family wanted to file a report but my dad took care of that. And then later, Todd broke up with her. Told her he’s tired of her and he wanted to end things. Summer being the clingy bitch she was, couldn’t do without Todd around her despite his sick attitude.”
” That’s crazy. I mean she knew Todd’s aggressive and abusive and she didn’t leave. She turned out to be his friend because she can’t loose him completely.”
” Yeah. They are both sick.”
” I’m really sorry about everything. It’s not always that easy.”
” Thanks. You should be careful of Todd too. He doesn’t like it when the girl tells him it’s over. He’s so dominant. He always wants to be the one to quit, you don’t quit it.”
” What?”
” Yeah. And I think he likes you a lot. His only problem is his ego. He doesn’t know how to care for someone. ”
I sigh and nod.
” Thanks, Diana.”
” You’re welcome. Welcome to my party by the way.”
” Your party?” I ask her.
” Yeah. I own the sorority house. My father said I can’t achieve anything good in my life, at least I achieved a sorority house.” She says and we laugh.
” It’s pretty. That’s a lot of work you put out there.”
” It was worth it. Let’s go party, Chloe will be waiting.”
We go back to the party as the loud music hit my soul. I see Chloe, she’s looking around the dancing bodies for me. I scurry past the dancing people and wave at her when she sees me. She breathe in a sigh of relief and give me one red cup. I look around for Diana and she’s nowhere to be seen.
” You like the party?” She shouts because of the loud music.
” Yeah, I love it.” I chug down the liquid as it burns my throat.
” What’s this?”
” Rum. You don’t like it?”
” I’ll take it, I don’t wanna get drunk cause I’ll be driving myself back home.” I say and drink the liquid.
” Where’s Thomas?” I ask.
” At home, babysitting his kid sister.”
” Aww, that’s so cute.”
Chloe smiles at me and drag me to the dance floor. We squeal and dance and dance. Our feet aches and we go to the kitchen to mix drinks before gulping down the liquid. We go back to the dance and squeal and dance and at some point Diana joins our pair dance.
We slump down on the couch and I’m exhausted. There are three other girls on the couch. The curly hair girl who has darker skin tone tells them a story as she slurs. She’s drunk or maybe almost drunk.
“… and then I told him to go f-ck himself. How could he be so boring in bed and have the nerve to ask for my number.” The dark girl slurs.
While Diana and the two other girls laughs loudly. I pull out my phone from my purse and check the time. It’s past ten already. Shit, I should be going home.
” I gotta go guys.” I say.
Chloe is already passed out on the couch. Diana is actually tipsy.
” I should walk you out.”
” No, D, I’m fine. Thanks for the party , it was awesome.” I wave at them and walk out of the house.
My feet aches and I can’t wait to get to my car. The outside isn’t that occupied like before. Just few girls who are passed out on the porch. I walk down the sidewalk and fight back the urge to remove my shoes. The night is chilly and I’m missing my bed. I really need a good nap. I walk to my car and open my purse to bring out my keys but someone slams me against my car.
I turn around and I’m met with Todd’s fiery eyes. I try to scre-m but his big hands wraps itself around my neck. I can’t breathe.
” Leave me alone.” I try to choke out but he doesn’t listen.
” You left me for that assh-le. Am I not good enough for you, huh? I try to be nice, I showed you how much I care about you and you took advantage of it, you f-ckin slut.” He yells at me.
I try to breathe as I swat his chest continuously. His grip on my neck is stronger the more I fight him. My eyes are about coming out of it’s socket. I can’t believe I’m gonna die miserable.
” Todd please don’t do this.” I sob.
Todd doesn’t listen. He looks like a monster as he strangles me. He releases me at once. When I want to breathe in a breath of relief, Todd grabs my hair and slam my head against my car window.
I collapse on the floor and blackout.
