“What did you mean at the store room?
She sounded unbelievable.

“You are not serous right?
She asked with laughs.

“Oh dear your baby witch is in the store room and i know by now the rats there would have devoured her as lunch”
He repeated his statement with a devilish laughs.

She rushed out immediately to the store room,she met the baby Eva crying.

“Oh my darling sweet baby am sorry for living you all alone”
She said teary and carried the child to her room.

“I can’t believe that my husband will have the guts to do this to a little baby that doesn’t know any thing not even her left and right,he is also heartless and wicked for him to do this to my baby”
She said angrily.

“Stop crying my Angel,I know you are hungry,Mom gonna get you your food okay”
She said to her with smiles.

She lay her down on the bed,
“I will be right back okay”
She said and pecked her on her forehead.

She went to the kitchen and prepared her food,went back to the room to feed her.

She started feeding her and even singing for her.

“Don’t worry my Angel I will never leave you all alone at home again,I will always go out with you I don’t care what people will say about you,what I knows is that you are my child and I will love you and protect you,I will not allow any harm to befall you,my precious Eva having you in my love is a blessing to me”
She said to her with a smiles.

After feeding her,she slept off,she webt to her dead child wardrobe and started bringing out some babies clothes.

She brought a fine pink dres,she admired the dress with beautiful smiles on her face.

“Mom’s Love!
She read what was written on the dress.

“This dress will look good on you my Angel,I brought this dress when I was a month old with my daughter had it been things didn’t turned badly she would have been here with us and she will be so happy to have a beautiful little sister like you but it’s well God have given her back to me that’s you my precious Eva”
She said with smiles.

She arranged everything then went to the kitchen to fix lunch,she was at the kitchen and her husband approached to her.

“Woman I need money!
He ordered her.

“I don’t have money to give you”
She replied to him with boldness.

“Don’t tell me that nonsense! I need money right now”
She shouted at dragged out from what she was doing.

“Mr Philip I said I don’t have money to give to you so that you will go out and gambling then come back home drunk”
She shouted at him.

“Woman if you know what is good for you this noon give me the money right now”
He shouted.

“And I said am not giving you any money,Don’t you understand anything?
She shouted.

He shouted angrily and grabbed her small purse at the table.

She rushed him and started dragging the purse away from him.

“Give me my Purse! Give me my Purse!
She shouted dragging the purse.

He pushed her forcely and she landed on the ground with butts,He opened the money and took all the money that is there.

She walked with her butts and held him on his legs,
“Give me my money! Give me back my money!
She shouted.

“Get your fruity hands off me!
He shouted and kicked her out.

The kick was not enough for her,he grab a frypan and hit hærdly on her forehead.

“Stupid Woman! Anytime you refuse to give me money,your name will turn to sorry that day,nonsense!
He shouted and walked out.

She cried out bitterly,the hit on her forehead swallowed up like a balloon and the pain was severe,she left what was doing at the kitchen and grab an ice block to massage the head.

She went to the sitting with the bucket of ice block,she was massaging the head and a knocked came from outside.

“Who is there? Please come in,side!
She said to the person.

Mrs Cantu a very good neighbour of hers came in,side,

“Augustina I went to your shop to get some groceries but you are not there,why didn’t you open today?
She asked and shut the door.

She went closed to her and shouted so angry,
“That your abusive husband did this to you? Not again Augustina! Not anymore! is the right time you report to your husband to the social welfare before that heartless end up killing you one day”
She said to being so concern about her.

” I can’t do that Cantu,I love my husband so much,I can’t call the social welfare on him and I can’t bare to see him suffer at the jail”
She said and massages her forehead.

“That heartless devilish human being did not deserve any of your love,look at your face Augustina,for how long will you continue enduring his torture? for how long will you keep on being a slave to your husband? For how long Augustina? My dear you have to stand boldly and be so courageous and report that man before he will kill you one day”
She shouted.

“See Cantu i know my husband will change one day,I know things will turn back to normal and we start living they we used to be”
She said to her.

“Augustina you keep on saying this for the past four years and he have not change at all,he keeps on beating and beating you every single day and he even turned you to his punching bag,when will he change? Is it when he succeed in sending you early to the grave? Please my dear Augustina you have to make a decision concerning your life before it will be too late,we got only one life to live my dear”
She said.

She said feeling the pain.

She said.

The baby wakes up and started crying,
“Am hearing a cry of baby in this house”
She sounded confusingly.

“That’s my baby Eva,she has waked up let me go and bring her”
She said.

Mrs Cantu became so astonished of what she said,
“Your baby?
She asked confusingly.

“Yeah,my baby Eva”
She said and went to the room to bring her.

“What is she taking about? Her baby from where? I don’t understand her,let her come out first she will explain it to me”
She sounded with so much confusion written all over her head.

Within a minute she came out with the baby,Mrs Cantu became so surprised with her mouth wide opened.

“Augustina where did you get that baby from? I know very well you told me that your husband forbid you from adopting a baby and had it been I have not known you very well I would have asked when you started child trafficking?
She said being so confused and surprised at the same time.

“Thank God you know I can’t involve myself with crime of child trafficking,this my baby Eva is a gift from God to me”
She said with smiles and sat down.

“A gift from God! What did you mean? Am very confused here can you make it clear to me?
She asked confusingly.

“It happened three days ago”
She said and narrated everything to her.

“This totally Unbelievable! I find this so difficult to believe Augustina, how could a mother have the mind to abandoned her baby?
She said surprisingly.

“That’s the question I asked myself but I have come to realized that this baby is gift from God to me and I will nurse and take good care of her as my daughter”
She said with smiles.

“What did you husband said about her? I know he will not never agree for you to keep the baby”
She said.

“Oh yes he did not agreed but i told him I will keep the baby and i don’t care he will do to me or the more pains he will cause me,I will take good care of this baby because is my own”
She said.

“She looks so beautiful”
She said and carried her.

“What name did you give her?
She asked with smiles.

“Her name is Eva,my Eva was the name I saw on her necklace”
She said with smiles.

“Wow Eva! Hey little Eva is me your Aunt Cantu am happy to see you Eva”
She said to the baby with smiles.

“Having this baby in my life makes me to feel happy,she is so precious to me”
She said with smiles.

“I can tell that,a child is always a blessing to us that’s why must love and care for them”
She said.

“Come and give me the groceries let me start going and prepare lunch before the kids will come back from school”
She said.

“Okay!

They went to the store room along with the baby,
“What and what did you want?

“I need tomatoes, cabbages and green pepper”
She said.

She opened the basket and brought out the vegetables,she packaged them for her,she shut the door.

“My beautiful Eva I will be going now,I will come and see you tomorrow okay”
She said to her and the baby said as if she heard what she said.

“She got a cute smile!
She said with laughs.

Mrs Augustina carried the baby,she handled her the vegetables and she payed her.

“See you tomorrwo”
She said and used the door.

She went back at the sitting room,lay the baby on the couch and took the bucket of ice block out to the kitchen.

She went back to the sitting room,
“Hmmmmh! Where’s that smell coming from?
She said at the moment she carried the baby.

“Oh it’s from you my Angel,let me go and change you okay”
She said and went to the room.

She changed her and fed her food,she lay on her cot singing and playing with her.

AT NIGHT
She had already taken care of the baby by bathing,feeding and making her to sleep,the dinner is already prepared,she sat on the couch at the sitting room waiting for her husband to come back as usual.

She was waiting and waiting until she slept off,she was waken up by the heavily sound of the thunder strikes.

“Oh my God! What’s still keeping him? This is half pass eleven and he is not here,it will rain heavily today”
She sounded feeling so worried about him.

Some minutes later,a knock came from outside she rushed and opened the door it was her husband,he came back drunkard as usual.

“Thank God you are at home!
She said to him and shut the door.

“Woman where is my food?
That was the first he asked.

“Is at the dinning”
She said.

He went to the dinning and started eating his food immediately.

She sat down facing him and waiting for him to finish his food so that she can clear the plate.

She cleared her throat to talk to her husband even due he got upset whenever she adviced him and he will beat her up but she keep on advising him hoping that one day her words will touches and change him.

“My darling husband it breaks my heart to see you coming back home late and drunk every day,please my dear turn a good new leaf and look for a job for us to start living they we used to be,my love i want you to know that Life is like a coin,Pleasure and pain are the two sides only one side is visible at a time but remember other side is also waiting for it’s turn and Don’t define your Failure by looking at somebody’s Success but
set your own targets every day to Break and also Do not count what u have lost just see what you have now because past never comes back
but sometimes future can give youback ur lost things”
She said to him.

“Motivational speaker! Have I not warned you several times to stop lecturing me? Have I not? You don’t want me to eat this food in peace”
He shouted angrily.

She sounded sorryful.

“Take your food and eat nonsense!
He shouted angrily and poured the food on her face.

“My eyes! Pepper! My eyes!
She cried out trying to reach out for water,her wicked husband removed the water.

“That pepper should kill you there! Wicked Woman,I wonder why I got married to you”
He shouted angrily.

Meanwhile it has started raining heavily and Baby Eva is up and crying.

“Baby is crying,I need to go carry her”
She said still feeling the pains in her eyes.

“This baby witch have started crying again,today I will kill her”
He shouted angrily and rushed to her room.

“Don’t touch my baby!
She cried out and stood up,she managed to walk with the help of the wall.

Her husband carried out the baby,
“I must kill you today,I can’t have a baby witch in my house”
He shouted angrily as the baby keep on crying.

“Where are you taking my baby to? What did you want to do my child?
She cried out.

He pushed her out from the road and walked to the door,he opened the door and dumped the baby outside the heavy rain.

“This rain will kill you and carry out your dead body to the trash bin”
He shouted.

“What have you done to my baby?
She shouted and ran out to the rain.

The rain cleared off her eyes and she saw her baby lying down under the rain crying helplessly.

Her husband hijacked her in,side and shut the door,she took her in,side her room and locked the room outside with a padlock.

“Please open the door,my baby need me,she is just an innocent baby please have mercy on the baby,am pleading open the door let me go and carry her out from the rain before she will die”
She cried out hitting on the door.

“I want her to die and she must die!
He shouted angrily and walked out.
