Chapter 44

SCHOOL CAFETERIA

Kalila and Diana are seated waiting for Roseanna, soon Roseanna walks in with Bryan.

Diana grins widely seeing her walk in with Bryan. “Such a nice guy” She exclaims.

“Yeah… but…” Kalila paused knowing where Diana might be heading to, looks at her. “But he can never be use as a compromise of Jason…”

“I know… I didn’t…” She sighs, rolling her eyeballs.

“Rosie!” Kalila called out to Roseanna who stands looking for them. “Over here!” she waved her hand.

“Ohh! ”

” Okay then, see you later…” Bryan says about to leave.

“Thank you!”

Roseanna walks towards where her friends were seated and sits too.

” How are you? Look here… I have a special meal for you to eat… It’s very good for pregnancy younno” Diana says as she nudges her teasingly.

” How would Jason react when he realizes that you’re carrying his baby?” Kalila asks.

Roseanna lowers her head at the question, she picks her finger as she suddenly loses appetite.

Lea who was seated at the back where the trios were sitting, chocked hearing their conversation. She quickly pulls out her phone from her purse and sends Starlet a message.

‘Meet me at dream restaurant”.

Tucking back her phone into her purse, she drops her cutlery and stands up.

Alvin has been trying for the past few weeks to get through to Starlet but she doesn’t pick his calls nor reply his messages.

He feels sorry for just neglecting her like that. He calls her again…

“The number you’ve dialed is currently not available… Please try…”

Alvin sighs and hang up the phone call.

“Please try again later! What else?”

Alvin needed to see Starlet though not actually her but his child she’s carrying.

He picks his car keys and left the house.

Dream Restaurant

“Tell me the truth Starlet! What actually happened that night… Did you spend a night with Jason or not?” Lea asks almost angry.

“No Lea… I didn’t! I tried but I couldn’t” She paused and sighs.

“I tried to indulge him… but… he left. I found him in the next room asleep without knowing what had happened… I knew he was drunk that night… So I took advantage of the situation and pretended that…”

“Psst! And you thought you really took advantage of that? You didn’t even care to check why he was asleep in the room… And perhaps if I may ask you… Where was Roseanna?”

Starlet paused confused by her question. “Somewhere else… I had someone to take care of her!” Starlet brings out her phone and shows her the video.

Lea scoffs, “Really? And is this enough proof to show she was rap*ed? Just taking her from the dance floor and pulling her to a room, closing the door behind… is that all?”

“What else did you want me to do?”

“For goodness sake, Starlet… had a night with Jason and she is carrying his baby!!!”

“W-wh-a-t?” Starlet glared in surprise and shock as she suddenly went blank.

” Exactly Starlet! And now our plans to make Jason responsible as your child’s father is gradually failing!!”

Alvin is shocked by what he’d just heard. Jason? Roseanna? Who could they be…

Not ready to approach her again, he just sat down doing nothing. ‘Maybe another secret may leak out’ he thought to himself.

“Though I saw him semi-covered with clothes and the mattress covered him entirely… I never knew something like that had happened… I just pretended to be in tears which made him confused as he couldn’t remember anything from that night… So he accepted the responsibility!” Starlet says In a shocker state.

” Now you know… So we need to be more careful from now onwards… I guess Jason isn’t aware that Roseanna is pregnant talk more or less that she is carrying his child. They haven’t spoken to each other for now and we have to look for way to rift them apart!!”

Three months later

Things are going smoothly and better for Roseanna though she hadn’t spoken to Jason ever since that incident happened. She wished to see and speak with him but that was never possible.

Starlet now visits the hospital regularly as her stomach protrudes. She made sure that Jason follows her up and takes her back.

Roseanna too now attends antenatal as her own stomach slightly protrudes. Diana and Kalila couldn’t take her this time as they both had classes that day, do Bryan decided to help.

‘Starlet just informed me that she is ready… I can’t take her today and her car broke down, so please can you help me and take her to the hospital?’ Lea texts Jadown

Jason who had seen the message sent to him by Lea quickly drives out to pickup Starlet.

Soon he drives off to the hospital with her.

Roseanna too prepared to leave to the hospital as Bryan came to take her.

“Ready?”

Roseanna enters the taxi with Bryan and were off to the hospital.

Jason arrives at the hospital and packs his car at the parking lot. He alights the car with Starlet.

“I will be back soon…” Starlet says, she wanted to peck him but he looks away.

He sees a car packed besides him. Roseanna alights the car with Bryan following her at the back.
Surprised to see both of them together at the hospital, he sighs.

Just then he sees Roseanna with a protruding stomach!… His heart beats faster, his eyebrows raised as his lips topically tightened and pursed inwards with a tensed jaw.

If only he knew!!!

Chapter 45

Continuation from the last chapter;

Roseanna sees Jason with Starlet but she doesn’t want to think otherwise.

“Jason!” She lets go of her hand from Bryan grip and runs to meet him.

Jason let out a little sigh, “Don’t come closer!” he warned putting Roseanna to a halt.

“Don’t you dare come close to me Roseanna!”

Roseanna stands in shock, confused by Jason sentence.

“I never knew you were that cheap! I kept on saying no but now I think I fully see the truth…” Jason gritted his teeth.

Roseanna world was breaking down, she couldn’t believe what she heard, tears brims at the corner of her eyes waiting for the permission to race down.

“Now tell me… what have you gained by being closer to him and avoiding me… A pregnancy? Uh?

“No that’s not true at all…” Roseanna says as the tears fully streams down her cheeks, she slightly rubs her stomach. “That’s not true!!”

She stretches out her hands to hold him, but he cuts her off.

“Don’t you dare come close to me ever again!!” he warned. Grabbing Starlet by the hand, he walks into the hospital.

“Let’s go!”

Roseanna stands in shock as she felt totally betrayed. Her world was dwindling, she looks where Jason and Starlet were going.

Starlet looks back at Roseanna and smiles, ‘Mission one completed’.

Bryan walks close to Roseanna and stands behind her. He felt like he was actually being shouted at or warned. Thinking of what to do, he gently taps her shoulder.

“Let’s go inside”

But Roseanna doesn’t reply, he asked again.

“No! I don’t want to! I don’t want to go inside… just leave me here!” she responded almost shouting.

” Standing here would do you no good, Rosie please!”

“Why would Jason ever think that?” She cries the more, her hair plastering on her face made her even more pretty.

” It’s enough…” Bryan draws her closer to his chest, soothing her.

Jason drives back soon after he drops Starlet at her house. He drives very recklessly on high speed.

He packs at ‘Luxury Bar’ and walks into it. Sitting on a sit, he orders for alcohol.

Drinking the alcohol given to him, he orders for more and more.

“Sir you shouldn’t drink again, you’ve taken more than five glasses… it could more or less harm you” The good waited said concerned.

“And how is that gonna be your business”

“No leave him… he can drink all he wants. Maybe his girlfriend left him for another man… He can’t keep a woman satisfied… ” A guy behind taunts sarcastically.

” How d@re you!! ” Jason stands up from his stool, he grips him by the collar of his shirt, ready to start a fight.

“Come off your hand from my shirt, young man… If you treated her well, she wouldn’t have gone for another guy… Perhaps you cheated on her first…”.

Jason glared at him but he slowly releases his grip from his shirt.

Jason sat back on his stool, he grabs the bottle and smashed it with his hand which bleeds profusely.

Hotel Room

“Rosie… What’s the problem?” Kalila asks worriedly, Roseanna had just returned about thirty minutes ago in tears and she wouldn’t say anything even when they asked her.

“What’s the problem again…?” Diana asks, she sits besides her stroking her back tenderly.

“Jason doesn’t want me around me anymore… h-he…” she sniffs and continues crying.

“W-wh-a-t?… You mean…?” Diana sighs resting her head on the chair head.

“Oh my!!!” Kalila palms her mouth slack jawed.

“Rosie!!” she utters, tears too dropper down her cheeks.

Starlet had informed her mother about her pregnancy, it worried her. But after hearing it was Jason’s child, she was gladden.

“At least it would strength your bond with him…” Her mother told her.

*****

Starlet was happy about the whole incident that happened while at the hospital but she didn’t stop there.

“As far as she is still carrying his child, the truth will still be exposed. I must find a way to elīminate it!!”

She plans to att@ck Roseanna at her hostel room unknowingly.

“Just calm down Roseanna… it’s gonna be a smooth run!!”

Most students especially in the art field had an evening class as Diana was no exemption so Kalila had to stay with Roseanna that evening.

Roseanna had just taken her meal. She felt uneasy as she tenderly rubs her stomach which has significantly protruded.

“Oww” she whispers.

“Ohh no” Kalila sighs as she search for the drugs which is to be taken immediately after her meal but she doesn’t sees it.

She looks at Roseanna who rubd her stomach. “I will be back soon… let me quickly get the drugs at the nearby pharmacy!!”. She leaves Roseanna alone and dash out.

Starlet sees Kalila move out of the hostel and smiles. Unlocking her seat belt, she alights the car and heads towards the hotel.

Arriving at Roseanna’s room, she knocks on the door.

Roseanna hears knock on the and sighs. Walking over to door, she opens it.
Moving her head outside, she looks around but sees no one, she walks out of the room a little but sees no one in sight.

“I thought someone had knock on the door?”

She walks back inside and closes the door behind her.

Just then, a hand pulls her hair from behind and twirls her round to face her.

“Star…”

Before she could complete her words, Starlet pulls out a knife and points it towards Roseanna.

Roseanna gasps.

“Say your last prayer, Roseanna!!” She said driving the knīfe towards Roseanna stomach.
