Brigadier Adu-Tettey: Excuse me madam, did you say anything to me?

Matron: Yes please, I was asking who was going to foot the medical bills of the youngman.

Mrs Adu-Tettey: Ah madam don’t you have any shame? Are you still asking for money after you endangered the youngman’s life. Are you that heartless or you……

Brigadier Adu-Tettey: (cuts the wife short) Sweetheart please save your breath for me to handle this matter, you still have the mouth to…….

Doctor: (interrupts Brigadier Adu-Tettey from talking) Please sir kindly let me handle this problem, matron please don’t compound the problem this hospital is already facing. Your question can land us in a deep mess, please sir until the youngman is found there is no financial transactions going to take place between us, I will hire the services of a private detective to help us find the youngman but please kindly give us more time so that we can search for your ward for you in good health.

Brigadier Adu-Tettey: I will think about it and get back to you later, I will be back in 72hours to hear what you have for me and make sure I get a positive results if not what happened to the male nurse at the private ward will happen to you and yours might probably be greater than his. It’s a free advice to you doctor, have a nice day.

The brigadier and his wife walk out from the hospital filled with anger against what had happened in,side the hospital.

Brigadier Adu-Tettey: This fools have impeded me from getting a quick promotion at the presidency. The youngman would have been helpful in this murder case for us to clump down those notorious drug peddlers.

Mrs Adu-Tettey: Honey everything happens for a reason, those guys are very dangerous so if this youngman can’t be found let sleeping dogs lie, I don’t want anything to happen to you or any member of my family. Please if the youngman is strong and has been able to escape let him go with his problems.

Brigadier Adu-Tettey: If you say so I have heard you my love.

Captain Awude: Boss so are we just going to forget this matter just like that without doing anything about this matter? You know we the men in camouflage don’t back out in the things we do, we love to fight to the end and we don’t retreat neither do we surrender.

Mrs Adu-Tettey: Captain Awude please are you married and do you have children?

Captain Awude: Am not married and neither do I have children madam.

Mrs Adu-Tettey: If you are not married and without children then I will plead with you to stay out of this matter, I won’t trade my family and marriage life with anything that can bring doom to me. I am not ready to wear black or bury any of my young children now or anytime soon, they must grow and bury me rather. Honey please take me out of this place right this moment.

Captain Awude: But madam I don’t mean anything bad, I………

Brigadier Adu-Tettey: (cuts in) Captain say no more, this chapter is closed for now. Drive us back to my bungalow and go to the office after that, I will join you later over there.

Captain Awude: Okay sir, your order always stands still. You are my boss and commander so whatever you say I will follow it without complaining.

Quincy’s House:

Quincy: Hmmmm baby, my friend here is in a big mess, his life is in great danger and now that he is with us, we are equally in the same mess. He was a witness to a murder case and now those murderers are after his life, they even shot him when chasing him but fortunately for him it hit him in the th-gh. He escaped to the hospital for treatment and again the bad people followed him to the hospital but God been so good he narrowly escaped from them again.

Maabena Boaduwaa: Ah so are the bad people not aware that you are a nurse and for nurses you we take oath of allegiance not to communicate anything we see with our eyes to anyone?

Michael Ansah: I am not a nurse Maabena, the srubs you saw me wearing was not mine, I took it from a male nurse who was appointed to monitor my health condition after the surgery I did in my th-gh and hand.

Maabena Boaduwaa: So how did you get to know my name?

Michael Ansah: Your name is boldly written on the name tag on your chest, if I wasn’t fast this morning like the murderers will gun me down right at the hospital. Am just thankful to God for my life and been alive up till now is a very big miracle to me.

Maabena Boaduwaa: So you mean those murderers came around at the hospital and you didn’t raise an alarm for the to be apprehended?

Michael Ansah: Apprehend? By who my dear? Escaping from the hospital quitely was the best thing I could ever do because if I tried to make any little sound, no one at the hospital will be alive by now to tell his or her story. Those murderers are from a very powerful cartel and will go any mile to keep their identity discreet.

Maabena Boaduwaa: This is serious oooo but I didn’t see any bad looking people at the hospital this morning even though I was sitted at the reception all throughout this morning before handing over to the morning shift nurse.

Michael Ansah: Well I believe you saw some men wearing suit this morning at the hospital?

Maabena Boaduwaa: Mmmm the people I saw and spoke with were police detectives and they wanted information from me about a patient who was brought to the hospital with gunshot wound in the early hours of this morning.

Michael Ansah: Those people were not real police officers, they are imposters who were posing as police detectives.

Maabena Boaduwaa: (holding her mouth) Ah so you were the one they were looking for? Hey you are very luck then because I saw some of them having guns fixed in their trousers. Mike then you must try and stay out of sight for a very long time or possibly relocate to a faraway place from here because when they get you they won’t spare your life.

Michael Ansah: Luckily for me my dear, none of those murderers know me by face so if none of you guys who I have opened up to doesn’t betray me and stab me in the back, those murderers won’t ever find me.

Quincy: (switches the tv on) Ah isn’t it the guy who was murdered news that is been telecast?

Michael Ansah: Oh yes that is the news and look at the picture of the murdered guy been displayed. The police is now stating that anyone who has information leading to the guys death should come to the police headquarters with his or her information for a handsome reward.

Maabena Boaduwaa: Oh such a very handsome youngman, this people have wasted a young soul like that. Imagine giving birth with such a handsome face and how the children are going to look like.

Quincy: (clears his throat) Women and nice things, you have just started fantacising on giving birth with him just now. Hmmmm you women you are all the same but you don’t want to be told the truth. Wait a minute guys, I know this guy back at the senior high school, so all the rich and luxurious life he was living by then came from drug money? He made us believe that his parent were very rich and because of that he rented an apartment in town and always drove a car to school even at that tender age. He took away my first girlfriend in the school with his money and swag, the way he lined up the girls in our school that time erh, I even heard he banged some national service personnels who came to serve the country in our school account department. Now you see your life has ended at a very young age, indeed there is no shortcut to heaven and he thought he was fast like a horse but now the slow tortoise will crawl and get to finish line(old age) without him. All the same may his soul rest in peace.

Michael Ansah: So Maabena can you keep this thing as a top class secret because the moment you tell another soul about this thing then you should know that the entire world will hear of it because your friend or best friend also has his or her best friend that he or she shares his secrets with. I beg of you to seal your l-ips and make what you have heard from us stay in your head and this very room, anyone who hears this story is as good as a dead body.

Maabena Boaduwaa: You guys can count on me, baby won’t you say something to your friend to defend me on how secretive I am.

Quincy: Bro there is no cause for fear and panic, my baby can be trusted when issues like this comes to mind. Be rest assured that you in safe hands.

Michael Ansah: Am very much okay with you ass**tion so far Mr and Mrs Quincy Asante.

Quincy: Hahaha can we make merry now since today is my birthday? Enough of this all serious business that won’t bring money to us.

Maabena Boaduwaa: I brought a sparkling wine and it is in the polybag together with your birthday cake. I will equally prepare a very nice birthday meal for us to enjoy so let the party begin…..

___

Opana: Doctor so if the money you quoted for me the other is ready how soon can it take for my daughter to be flown out of the country for her surgery to take please?

Doctor: I will say if the money is ready today latest by seven days your daughter and her mother should be in the air travelling to the States to get her surgery done.

Opana: Did you say her mother? Am the one going with her outside the country and no one else.

Doctor: Hahaha sir that will be a wrong decision to take, your wife is going to work on your daughter 24/7 when they get there and moreover a woman takes care of a girl and not a man rather. Your daughter’s privacy must be respected so it will be appropriate for her to go with her mother.

Opana: Hmmmmm is because you are a professional that is why am going to listen to you and not oppose. I will get the money ready hopefully by tomorrow so please start making arrangements for their visa processing and hotel reservation for me. I have to rush and see my lawyer for sometime very important, my dear we will meet in the house, please call me if anything new pops up.

Akua Yankey: Okay my dear and please take very good care of yourself knowing what we have at hand.

At the Adu-Tettey’s residence:

Brigadier Adu-Tettey: Abi I don’t know why you don’t want me to continue pursuing this matter, this matter is of national interest and if I was to throw my weight into it with my boys in less than 14days we will capture and apprehend every single member of that cartel. This is what we are trained for and doing it brings joy to us, am a proud “SOLDIER” . You Civilians have University we the

Military have Training Colleges, you hvae Vice Chancellors and we soldiers have Commandants, you people have Lecturers but we have Instructors. Your day starts by 0700hours but ours start by 0400hours, you wake up at 0600hours and we jump up at 0300hours, you shake hands but we salute. You civilians wear Gucci, Prada and Armani but we wear Camouflage or dark green Khaki, you keep your hairs but we trim off our hairs, you people wake up but we jump up, you walk but we double up in divisions. You have students but we have Cadets or Recruits, you have Dining Halls but we have Mess, you go on break but we go on Pass. You have Conference Halls but we have Parade Grounds. You have Graduation Party but we have Passing Out Parade, to you people injury is for one and one only whilst to us injury for one is injury for all. You get short term light drills only in your graduation whilst rigorous drills is our everyday blood tonic. You civilians have school colleagues but for us we have comrades, you people have Civilian Blood but we have MILITARY Blood. You people Demand for Respect but we Command Respect, we took this job knowing that we may never get rich, we have missed out so many holidays, church or mosque services and special occasions in order to protect your lives. We are expected to work miracles and do things other people are scared to do and even save lives. It has been proven that our life expectancy is shorter than you civilians because of the stress we go through and the sickness we are exposed to, yet there are no hero movies about us. We must give our lives everyday for people we dont know, have never met before and even those who don’t like us. When families are home enjoying alone, we are out there in the cold, we are exposed to dangerous situations and all in the name of protecting properties and saving lives. We are warriors who gave oath to die for our people and our dear country. I am a very proud ”SOLDIER” .

Mrs Adu-Tettey: (claps her hands) Bravo!!! What a marvellous speech, you need to be made the speech writer of the Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) or even the President. My dear am telling you for the last time that I don’t want to be a young widow, let me please enjoy my marriage with you my king. If I have to lie down on the floor to beg you I am willing to do it my love please am begging you with the name of God and our little children.

Brigadier Adu-Tettey: Honey what is all this? So can’t I do my job again?

Mrs Adu-Tettey: (raising her voice) This is not the job you were assigned to do my love, if you don’t redraw your interest in this case, I will have no option than to report you to your parents and the pastor at church. What is all this?

Brigadier Adu-Tettey: Abi you just raised your voice at me for the first time in my 18years of been with you.

Mrs Adu-Tettey: Vincent I will raise my voice at you again and again if you don’t listen to me, you know very well that I never liked the idea of you joining the army as you graduated from the university. I have been enduring all this while anytime you travel on foreign mission and bush operations, when was the last you spent three consecutive days in this house with the kids and myself? When was even the last time that you made love to me? When was the last time you took us out to shop or buy ice cream even for the kids, do you know how many times I have to lie and cover up for you when the children ask me of your whereabouts? Do you know how bad I felt when Reedorf asked me if you truly care about us? Are you the only military personnel at the Presidency? Vincent am losing it and it’s about time you do something about your work and the time you have for us.

Brigadier Adu-Tettey: Woooow so how long have you been harbouring this anger in you towards me? Don’t I give you money to go shopping and take the kids out? Do I starve you of material things? Am I not trying well enough?

Mrs Adu-Tettey: Vincent are you listening to yourself? Do you think am a materialistic person? Don’t I earn more than you at the end of the month? If you give me money for shopping and outing with the kids, do you also give me money to go out and buy s€× or are you planning to buy me a s€× doll or dildo so I make use of it when I am ho-ny. See am a human being with red blood flowing through my veins and if you have forgotten I also have feelings that needs to be attended to.

Brigadier Adu-Tettey: Oh so all this noise and voice raising at me is because of s€× huh?

Mrs Adu-Tettey: What were you thinking Vincent, when was the last time you made me feel like a real young woman? Have you forgotten that s€× holds marriage for about 70%, you better…….

Brigadier Adu-Tettey: (cuts in) Come here my pretty damsel, am sorry for neglecting you for sometime now my Queen. You are very right with every single word you said and to make things up to you I am going to switch my phone off so I spend quality time with you today, today I will make you gasp for breath. Since I have starved you for long I will combine all and give it to you this hot morning all the way through the afternoon.

(picks his phone and dials a number to give some information to the person)

Maabena Boaduwaa: What for if I may ask?

Quincy: Today you are asking me what for because my friend is here, well let me tell you since you want to know why I want to join you. I will help bathe your back since you hands can’t reach there.

Maabena Boaduwaa: Are you the one who has been doing that for me when am in my house?

Michael Ansah: Maabena don’t do that to the birthday boy, please consider him and let him follow you in there. You can also give him a birthday bath.

Quincy: Kwaku Mike God bless you and thank you for the word so sweet, my dear I promise to be a very good boy in,side there. Oya make we go.

As soon as the two love birds left to the washroom Kwaku Mike started feeling the strangling pain on his neck for a short time then immediately his phone started to ring.

Did Brigadier do the right thing with the call he made?
