📚 EPISODE ONE📚

“Grrriiigrrii! Grrriiigrrii!
The alarm clock ranged, Pearl reaches out her hand to the clock and switched it off,just about to say her prayer her mother called to wish her happy birthday.

📞 Good Morning Mommy!
She greeted and yawned.

Her mother started singing for her with so much joy as she was smiling,
📞 Happy Birthday to you,Happy Birthday,Happy Birthday Birthday! Happy Birthday to you,How older you now? How older you nowwwwe? How older you now?

She responded with smiles,
📞 Am plus one today,Am plus one to…….
Her mother interrupted the singing.

📞 Which one is plus one today? Incase you have forgotten how old you are let me remind you,you are thirty years old,thirty years old Pearl” Thirty years old still single”
She shouted on the phone.

📞 Mother I thought you called to wish me Happy Birthday and not to remind me about my single life”
She sounded.

📞 Oh yes I called to remind you about that,you need to settle down, Pearl it has been eight good years since that God forsaken human being that called himself Mike abandoned you and the baby up to then till now you are thirty and still single,you need to settle down, Princess your daughter need to have a father in her life,What will you tell her when she grow up and started asking questions about her father? What will be your answer Pearl?
She shouted.

📞 I have you heard you mother,I will settle down”
She said to her,she don’t have the strength to start arguing with her this morning.

📞 I have heard you! That’s what you keep on saying,when will get marry Pearl? Is it when you turn thirty four or probably when you reach menopause?
She questioned with shouting.

📞 Is okay Mother,I have heard you I will get marry,please I need to go and prepare Princess for school”
She said.

📞 I know you want me to stop talking about it but no problem I will stop as for now but bear it in mind that I will keep on disturbing you and ringing it on your ear until you are finally in your husband’s house,my regards to Princess my beautiful granddaughter”
She said.

📞 Okay Mother!

📞 Happy Birthday Once again”
She wishes her.

📞 Thank you Mother!
Her mother ended the call.

She breathed in relieve,
“Oh my goodness! Mother won’t allow to rest, everytime go and marry go and marry,am I the only single mother in this whole world? I love my single life,I live for my daughter I don’t want any man in my life”
She said.

She said her prayer and just about to stand up from the bed,her daughter walked in with a tray of breakfast.

“Happy Birthday Mom!
She said with her tiny voice with smiles written all over her beautiful face,she kept the tray of food on the bed.

She gave her a warmly hug,
“Thank you so much my Joy and my Angel”

“Mom I prepared breakfast for you as your birthday breakfast”
She said with smiles pointing the tray of food to her that contains two fried hot dog, fried egg,three slice of toasted bread with tea.

“You prepared all this for me?
She sounded with so much joy.

“Yes Mom! I waked up so early to prepare a delicious birthday breakfast for you”
She said with smiles.

“Wow! It surprised me,I can’t believe you prepared all this at your tender age”
She said with smiles.

“Am not tender Mom,have you forgotten you are the one that taught me how to prepare all this,did you remember that day I asked you to teach me how to prepare this type of breakfast?

“Of course,I remember two weeks ago”

“I wanted to prepare it for you and I got it just like the way you taught me,I made the tea the way you used to like it no sugar”

“That’s so sweet of you my darling Princess”
She hugged her with so much joy and gave her a thousand of k×sses on her cheeks.

“You are rare like a diamond, beautiful like a goddess and pure like an angel. I can’t tell you how blessed I am to have a mother like you. Happy Birthday to you, dear Mom”
She wishes her with smiles.

She hugged her and said,
“That’s so sweet of you my Angel,where did you get this sweet birthday message from?

She smiled and said,
“I won’t tell you Mom,enjoy your birthday breakfast”

“Okay,go and set your things ready for school,I will come out in a jiffy to bath you”
She said.

“Bath me! No Mom,am no longer a kid,I can bath myself”
She sounded and her Mother bursted out laughing.

“You said you are no longer a kid,How old are you my Princess?
She asked while laughing.

“Am eight years but being eight doesn’t make a kid Mom,see Mom boiled the water for the tea and also prepare this can a kid at eight do all that? No! but I did it so am no longer a kid”
She sounded feeling too big of herself for preparing a breakfast.

Mother laughed and said,
“Princess you are still my baby and my little kid so go to your room and wait for me am coming to bath you”

“Okay Mom!
She said and used the door.

Pearl came downstairs all dressed for work,she walked to the dinning,
“Baby you are still eating?

“I will soon be done Mom”
She said as she took a sip of her tea.

“Hurry up! I don’t want you to be late for school”
She said and took her lunch box to the kitchen to pack her food.

“Thank you Mom!
She greeted at the moment she was done with her food.

“You are welcome Princess,wipe your mouth with the napkin”
She said and took the plate to the kitchen.

Princess carried her backpack and lunch box set to go,her Mom came out from the kitchen and asked,
“Are you ready?

“Yes Mom!

“Let’s go then!
She took her bag and grabbed the car key at the table.

They got into the car and drove out,some minutes later they arrived at the school.

“Pay for very attentive to the teacher”

“You know I always do Mom!

“Trust you my child,have a nice day at the school”

“Thank you Mom,have a nice day at the office too”

She hugged her and pecked her on the forehead,
“I love you Princess!

“I love you too Mom”
She came down from the car waved at her and walked to the gate,Pearl watches her,she drove out at the moment Princess got in,side and the gateman shut down the gate.

Her friend Anne walked in,side her office with so much joy and said to her,
“Happy Birthday to my friend and a sister,Happy birthday to the sweetest person I know,It’s you, my best friend with you, life is so simple, there is nothing to pretend,Happy birthday to you!
She hugged her and gave her 🎁 present.

“Thank you so much Anne,What did you got for me?
She asked with smiles.

“Open it and see for yourself”

She opened the box and shouted with so much joy,
“Wow! A wrist watch! Thank you so so much Anne,this is one of the best gift I have received today”
She hugged her.

“One of the best gift! I thought am the first person to give you a birthday gift,I know you don’t have any man then who is the first person or have you gotten a man and I don’t know about it?
She asked.

“Oh yes I have,the love of my life my reason of being alive,my morning stars”
She sounded trying to pull her legs.

“Pearl are you being serious! You have a man and you didn’t tell me about him I thought we are bestie we are meant to share things together,when did you start hiding things from me?
She sounded being so upset.

“Did I tell you that I have a man?
She questioned her.

“But you just said it now,you even said he is the reason of you are alive,this is so unfair for not telling me by the way who is the lucky guy?
She asked.

“Actually I was just pulling your legs,you know there’s no man in my life and there will never be”
She said.

“I knew it,there’s no how my own bestie will have a man nor even a crush and won’t let me know about it so the gift you mentioned who give it to you”
She sounded.

“My little Princess,my bundle of joy,the reason why am alive today and still living for her,did you know that my Princess prepared a delicious breakfast for me”
She said with so much happiness written all over her face.

“You mean Princess prepared breakfast for you at her tender age?
She asked surprisingly.

“It surprised me too Anne that my daughter is so wonderful,she is my morning stars,I can’t ask for anything but someone like her in my life,the joy of my life,I don’t need any man when I have my precious daughter that’s why I said I only live for her”
She sounded with so much joy to have such a daughter in her life.

“Wow! That’s so Incredible! Little Princess prepared a breakfast for you”
Anne sounded still can’t believe that a kid at her age will even know how to switch on the cooker talk more of boiling water.

“So where is the venue for the event?
She asked with smiles.

“Which event?
Pearl asked with pretence.

“Your birthday of course,Where are we going to celebrate it? I can’t wait to dance and have fun to all day breaks”
She sounded.

“We are not going anywhere to celebrate my birthday this time”

“What? Why?
She questioned confusingly.

“It’s not compulsory we will go out celebrating my birthday all year so this time there will be no outing celebration,we will celebrate it at my place”
She said.

Anne rolled her eyes and said,
“Okay no problem at least there’s still celebration”

Pearl sounded with smiles,
“Yeah! Yeah!

“Let me retire to my office, catch up with you later and once again Happy Birthday ”
Anne said with smiles.

“Thank you so much bestie”
She responded with smiles as Anne used the door.

Pearl wear the wrist watch and said with smiles,
“Wow! It’s beautiful,Anne really knows my taste”
She admired the watch for a while and later packaged it back to the box,she start her work for the day.

Pearl went to pick Princess after work,
“Good afternoon Mom!
She greeted with hug.

“Afternoon my Princess,how was school today?
She asked and pecked her on the cheek.

“School was good Mom,Did you know what Mom?
She asked as they got into the car.

“What is it my Angel?
She asked.

“Mom I scored sixty over sixty on my test and am the only girl that passed in our class”
She sounded feeling so excited over her mark.

“Wow! Excellent My Princess! My brilliant daughter am so proud of you,give Mom a big high five”
She shouted with joy,Princess gave her a high five.

They played some gospel music as they sang along following the lyrics of the song.

Bryan arrived at his new apartment as he was bringing his luggages from the car his phone rang,he put on his earbuds and answered the call.

📞 Bro how is the apartment?
His sister asked.

📞 I just arrived now,I have not gone in,side yet but I know it will be nice.

📞 Okay but are you sure you really need to do this?
His sister asked being worried about his leaving.

📞 Sis you know we have talk about this and I have made up my mind to stay away from some time,I need to be on my own being in that house will bring nothing to me but memories I need to forget and it will not be good for me”
He said.

📞 What about the company? You know am not too good with the business”

📞 You have Gabriel to guide you besides am not going to stay for too long I will come back and take over once the wound is healed”
He said.

📞 Okay Bro,take good care of yourself for me,you know you are the only family I have now”
She sounded.

📞 I will Sis,I will call you back later once am done with the packing”

📞 Okay,I love you Bro”

📞 I love you too Sis”
He said and ended the call.

Bryan brought out his two boxes from the car and walked to his apartment meanwhile Princess was at the balcony playing ball she saw him and sounded,
“Wow! A new neighbor! I like him he is looking good,I need to tell Mom about him”
She went in,side.

“Mom did you know we have gotten a new neighbor?
She asked her.

“A new neighbor! I don’t know when did the person arrived?
She asked.

“He just arrived now,don’t you think we have to welcome him to the compound?
She asked with smiles.

“What for? Why should we welcome him?

“Because we are good neighbor besides you once told me that it’s good to welcome someone and make them feel good for being our neighbor, we have been doing that with other neighbors and some even welcomed us when we packed in too so we have to welcome him too”
She said.

Pearl kept quite for a while and said,
“Okay,as you can see am working it won’t be now beside we have to allow him to settle down first”

“Okay Mom!
She sounded with smiles and went back to the balcony to continue her ball.

An hour later,Bryan has arranged and fixed some things in the house,he sat down on the couch resting,a knock came from outside he thought who it could be since he got no idea he went out to get the door,he became so surprised of the people he saw a mother and daughter with smiles written all over their faces.

“Welcome to the compound neighbor!
They chorused with smiles.

Bryan’s face was lightened with smiles he didn’t expect this,
“Wow! thank you!
He said.

“Am Pearl and she is my daughter Princess we are your neighbor,we saw you when you packed in and decided to come and welcome you to the compound”
Pearl said with smiles.

He smiled and said to them,
“Thank you so much,that’s so thought of you guys,I appreciate it”

“So you are Mr…..?
Princess asked with smiles.

“Am Bryan”
He answered with smiles.

“Welcome once again Mr Bryan”
Pearl said.

“C”Mon no Mr just call me Bryan”
He said with smiles.

“Okay Bryan”

“It’s nice to meet you Pearl and you too Princess”

“Thank you,my Mom’s birthday is today by 7pm you are invited,we stay at the second flat by our right”
Princess said and Pearl became so surprised of her invitation.

“Wow! Happy Birthday Pearl!
He said with smiles.

“Thank you Bryan,we will go now and allow you to do your packings”
She said.

“Okay,it’s nice to meet you guys”
He said with smiles.

They smiled back without uttering more word to him and made way out to the apartment.

“What did you just do there Princess?
Pearl asked at the moment they got to the house.

Princess tipped her index finger on her forehead thinking what she has done but got nothing,
“I didn’t do anything Mom”
She answered.

“Why did you invite him to the party? You should have ask for my permission before inviting him”
She sounded.

“But Mom there’s nothing wrong in inviting him to the party beside others neighbors were invited too”
She said.

“We are meeting this neighbor today and inviting him to the party was not a good idea at all because we don’t we don’t know the type of neighbor he is”
She said.

“He looks so harmless so he must be a good person”

“You can’t identify good and bad with people’s look so bear that in mind”

“Mom uncle Bryan seems to be a good person, he being at the party won’t cause anything bad,we need to start the decoration and Aunty Anne Is not here give her a call we don’t have much time left”
She said and upstairs,Pearl looked at her and shooked her head with smiles.
