CHAPTER NINE

I gro-ned in pain as Janice m-ssaged my body.

“Where did you go exactly”?

“To meet a crazy person”.

“Really”?

“Hmmm”. I nodded. “He’s really crazy”.

“It’s a guy. Are you seeing someone”?

“Don’t get the wrong idea”.

“I’m not. It’s just that….. you’re quite lucky. I really don’t think I can win in the martial arts test next tommorow”.

“Cheer up girl. You shouldn’t give up”. I said then she smiled.

“You’ve changed so much you know. You’re known as someone who gives up easily. Who knew you’ll be a motivational speaker”. She kept m-ssaging my body until Natasi walked in with a bundle of clothes.

“These are the princess laundry”. She dropped the clothes on the floor. “Do it within one hour”. She said to Janice.

“But it’s night already”. Janice protest.

“That’s the princess order”. Natasi said. I sat upright on the bed.

“Tell the princess that Janice isn’t her slave”. I said.

“You lowly thief. How dare you talk to me like that”.

“Call me whatever you want. She’s still not doing the laundry”.

“Fine”. Natasi said. “Dont’t blame me for what would happened for I did warned you”. She left.

“Why did you do that”? Janice said to me. “Now you’ve gotten us into trouble”.

“Who cares. You ain’t her slave and besides, this isn’t her place neither her father palace”.

“If the king hear you say that”.

“Screw the king. He’s not even here. Why worry”. I laid back on the bed. “Can you please continue”.

“I still don’t think the princess will let us go scot-free”.

The sun shines up brightly in the sky. A cool breeze blew around. What a perfect weather for a cup of tea. I made my way to San’s resident only to be crossed upon by two men.

“Wha___”. They knocked me out and I slumped on the floor.

Splash of water woke me up from my unconscious state. I coughed out.

“So you’re the one”. A female voice said. I looked up at her. The princess. My hand were tied to the chair I sat on. My clothes were all w-t due to the water that was poured on me.

“What do you want from me”? I asked lowly.

“What I want”. The princess smiled then slapped me so hærd. My cheek were filled with redness and hotness. I really felt like crying. It was so painful. “I can’t believe such a lowly person like you would muster the courage to talk to me like that”. She held my chin up. “Now that you’re in my grasp, it’s time to show you what I’m made up”. She let go of my chin and stood upright. “Men”.

“Yes princess”. Four men walked in.

“Beat her up to pulp and find a place to throw her remains”.

“Sure”. The princess left.

I was so weak that I couldn’t feel my body at all. I mo-ned in pain as they dumped me in the bush.

“Hey”. One of them said. “Why don’t we have some fun with her before she dies”?

“I don’t think so. Come on let’s go. She’s just a poor kid. You shouldn’t take advantage of her Innocence”.

“Who cares. You can all leave while I do my stuff”.

“Fine. Soothe yourself”. The three left. I was left alone with this hefty guy. I made to get up but he dragged my hand. I was too weak to struggle.

“There’s no where to run to Ms”. He pinned me to the ground.

“Please”. I begged slowly.

“Sorry but I’ve no choice”. He made to tear my clothes when suddenly, a flash of blue light pushed him off me. He ran for his dear life.

“You! Stop there! Zanillia”. It was Feiye. He knelt beside me and held my head up.

“Fei….”. I called slowly closing my eyelids.

“I should get you to a doctor”. He carried me in a bridal style while I laid there in his arm feeling the warmth of his body.

A warm towel was placed on my head. I opened my eyes slowly.

“You’re awake”. Feiye said. He was sitting beside me. “What happened to you? How did you got hurt”?

“Let’s save the question for another day”. I sat upright”.

“You were almost raped Nillia”. Nillia? I really love the way he pronounced the name. A smile lit my lip. “Why are you smiling”?

“Why are you acting like you care”? I looked at him.

“Well, I do care. You’re mine”. My heart start to flutter when he said mine. Hey don’t get the wrong idea. He’s just being kind.

“I might misunderstood you when you say those words”. I stared at my hand. The beating scars on my body were all gone. I also feel kind of energetic. “What did you give me? I feel kinda okay”.

“Just some herbs”.

“Is it magical”?

“Just have some rest. We’ll talk later”. He frowned and got up.

“Are you mad at me”? I held his clothes. “I’m sorry. I couldn’t protect myself with the skills you taught me”.

“It’s nothing. Just get some rest. We’ll talk later”. He left. I sighed then stared at my body. What kind of herb did he use? It’s really helpful.

San and Janice rushed towards me as they saw me.

“Zanillia”. Janice held me. “Where have you been since? You got us worried”.

“Where are you coming from”? San asked.

“I……. To visit a friend. He kept me await for a long time”. I said.

“He? It’s a guy”. San said.

“Hmmm”. I nodded. “He was the one who took me in for the past three month. He also taught me some martial arts skill”.

“That’s good to hear. I thought something bad might have happened to you”. San smiled. “It’s night. You should get some rest”.

“Sure. Sorry for getting you worried”.

“You don’t have to apologise. It’s my duty”.

“Goodnight then”. Janice and I walked away.

It was dawn. Finally, it was the D-Day. I’m going to show you what I’m capable of doing princess. I got up and walked towards the mirror to apply some beauty oil on my face but my hand slide through the jade pot.

“What”? I stared in shock. I made to pick it again but my hand keep sliding through it. Am I in some kind of dream again? I rubbed my eyes and made to pick it again but the outcome was still the same. “This is weird”. Well who cares. It’s all the same. Perhaps I should go back to bed and wake up again. I turned to go to the bed only to meet another shocking moment of my life. A body was laying there and it was no other than Zanillia.

CHAPTER TEN

I stared at my body only to see that I was wearing my school uniform. How did I got out of her? If I did, then what am I still doing here?

“Zanillia”. Janice entered.

“I…..”. She walked past me. She couldn’t see me. Janice moved over to the figure laid on the bed and shooked it.

“Hey wake up. We’ve to get dressed”. Zanillia opened her eyes slowly. Damm. Today’s the competition. What am I going to do? I made to possess her back but I couldn’t. Could it be the effect of the herb Feiye gave me? Oh no! This is bad. Zanillia sat upright and looked around.

“Where am I? And who are you”? She asked Janice.

“Who I’m? Are you drunk or something? It’s me Janice. Look, we got no time to joke. We need to get ready for the martial arts competition. Fourth lord San has high hope for you”.

“Fourth lord San? Who’s that”?

“Did you knack your head on something”?

“Where’s this place”? Zanillia got up. “What am I doing here”? She held her head trying to remember something. “I remembered passing out after something hit my head”. Hit her head? I was also hit on my head by something. Could it be we’ve some connection together. “Father. He should be worried about me”. She made to leave but Janice held her.

“Where do you think you’re going? This is the immortal palace. There’s no way out of here”.

“Immortal”? She looked surprised.

“I guess something must have happened to you yesterday but we’ve no time for that now. We’ve to go”. Janice pulled Zanillia away. What would I do? I still have to see lord Vagamound in order to get out of here. What if Zanillia get omitted during the martial arts competition. That means I will be stuck here forever. I should find a way to possess her back.

The six of them stood in front of the door.

“Big brother. Today’s the martial arts competition. Ain’t you going to take a look at it”? Sean asked.

“I don’t think he would. He’s working on his cultivation”. Gia said.

“Really”? Sean wore a sad face. “It’s just that……. it’s been long since I’ve seen big brother”.

“You don’t have to be sad”. Kris placed his hand on Sean’s right shoulder. “He’s doing it to protect us and the realm”.

“I’ll look at the competition from here”. Vagamound answered from in,side. “You don’t have to worry about me. Once the competitions are over, I’ll step out then”.

“Okay”.

“And Eason, be fair to the candidates”. Vagamound added.

“Sure I’ll”. They all left.

Still, no one could see me. Not even the six lords. Zanillia knelt as soon as she saw the princess.

“Greetings princess”.

“You…..”. The princess stared at her in surprise. She thought I’d died. That crazy bitch. If not because I’m not in her body, I would have beaten her to pulp.

“What are you doing”? Janice pulled her up.

“Paying my tribute to the princess”.

“Good”. The princess smiled. “I guess you finally learned your lesson after all”. She left.

“Hey. Why did you do that? You never liked the princess to begin with. Besides, she bullied me so much. I can’t believe you’re finally taking a liking to her”. Janice frowned. “Are you even Zanillia”?

“I’m sorry”. Zanillia apologize.

“The competition will commence now”. Eason said. “You’re ten in number so you’ll be paired into two. Only five of you will make it to the next round. The rules are still the same. You shouldn’t injure one another. Once you’re out of the ring, you loose”.

“Yes”. They all chorused together. Unfortunately, Zanillia was to fight the princess. I don’t even know if she knew how to fight.

“I don’t want to fight you princess”. She said.

“Why? You’re afraid I might beat the hell out of you? If then, you’ve to admit defeat since you don’t want to fight me”.

“I don’t even know why I’m here. I’ve no interest in whatever is going on here. I just want to go back home”.

“So do you admit defeat”? The princess asked her.

“I…”. No way. She can’t. Does she think it’s so easy to train under Feiye. I made to possess her back but I just couldn’t. This is bad.

“Do you admit defeat Zanillia Zhao”? Eason asked on top of his voice.

“I….”.

Vagamound stared. Why can’t anyone see the girl moving about on the ring. Her dress doesn’t seems to be from a clan he knew. Could she be a spy? Nah. That can’t be. She doesn’t look like one but she seems to be very strange. That aura. That marvelous aura. Could she be….

San rushed towards me.

“Hey. What happened to you out there? You almost admit defeat”.

“I was just playing along”. I was finally in Zanillia’s body. I just hope I wouldn’t pop out anytime. “It’s a skit I developed. It’s called fooling your opponent skit”.

“You really fooled us too”.

“I’m sorry for getting you worried”.

“It’s nothing”. He held my hand. “Can we talk somewhere private”?

“Huh”. My cheeks flushed with redness. Could it be that he wants to confess his feelings to me. “Well…..”. I smiled. “Sure”.

We sat on a log of wood in,side the bush. I don’t know while he bring us this mile away just to talk. Hope it’s not what I’m thinking.

“So, what do you want to say to me”? I kept blushing like a fool.

“It’s…… Your martial arts skill. Where did you learned it”?

“From someone. Feiye taught me”.

“The guy who took you in”?

“Yeah. He’s so mean and weird. Why do you ask”?

“The martial arts skill you used to fought with the princess is only known by one person on this earth and that person could only be…..”.

“Who”.

“Can you take me to him”?

“You mean Feiye”?

“Yeah. He seems to be someone I knew”.

“Okay but it’s just that….. he’s not always around but don’t worry. I’m supposed to meet him tomorrow so it shouldn’t be a problem”.

“Thanks”.

“Was that all you wanted to ask me”?

“Hmmm”. He nodded. “Why”?

“Nothing. Just that you made it sound like something special”. I got up. “Let’s get going. Janice should probably be waiting for me”. I walked away.
