🌹Chapter Thirteen 🌹

~Never better….~

rom-no had given her the privacy that she needed, and a part of her still want to keep avoiding him especially after what happened while they were having breakfast that morning. She still regret saying what she had said. She shouldn’t have said a word, she should have just remained quiet and did as she was told to, but her stubborn self won’t take quietness for an option. Although rom-no said nothing to her after she said those words to him. He just stared at her for a while before walking out of the dinning table but he had told her to get prepared that they were going out for a ride before he left. She wonder where he wants to take her to. Probably to another strip club, who knows. That demon can do anything to make life hell for her.

A hulking SUV was waiting outside. Sniper hold the door open, his expression were still the same, he always frown whenever she sees him. She don’t think she has ever seen him smile. No one said a word as she got into the car. To think that she would’ve grown numb to fear now. No. Her heart were beating louder than the roar of the engine.

Perhaps he has already make up his mind to get rid of her. Yes, the monster sitting beside her could kill anyone for his own selfish gain.

Her short fingernails clawed at her legs nervously, leaving behind fading red marks. The mansion disappeared in distance. The suspense was killing her. The quietness of the atmosphere was making her think negatively. She was curious. She wish someone could give her the answer she as looking for but being the fact that rom-no only has loyal dogs at his dock and deck, she doubt any of his men would give her an answer. Besides they only answer to rom-no and no one else.

A torturous hour later, the car finally came to a halt by a beach. The briny air k-ssed along her cheeks and wind wh¡pped at her long hair. Wild waves banged against the rocky shore. She would have paid more attention to the beauty of this place, if her attention wouldn’t be stolen by a dark figure in the distance. When did he even get there?

rom-no stood with his arms stuffed in front pocket of his trousers, watching her with those dark tantalising eyes of his. She don’t know when she will stop getting trapped into those dark eyes. It keeps captivating her both physically and mentally….Tsk, she must be crazy. Who will find a monster like him eyes captivating? Only a stupid one will do so.

The tension in her built sky high. The looming s-nsation of dread got her breath to hitch. Why she was here was a mystery she is yet to discover. He might want to harm her as a punishment for speaking like that to him during breakfast but they were in a beach. Does a murderer pick out a beach to do his evil like killing? *He could practically drown you.* Her subconsciousness said, it wasn’t helping matter at all but rather making her more scared.

“Victoria.” He accosted, his gaze following her every step. This was the first time for him to ever call her by her full name. He has never even called her by her stage name. She thought he didn’t even know her name. Was this the time for her to get worried? Could this be the day she dies? His men stayed behind, chatting and smoking among themselves without paying any attention to the two of them. Except for Sniper, his eyes were trained on Victoria’s back, serving to unsettle her further.

“What…going on?” She asked as she got to where he stood.

“Care for a walk?” It wasn’t really an offer. The warmth of his large hands settling on the small of her back made her nerves tingle with a new kind of nervous. He has never touch her or come close to her since she disclose to him about being a V-rgin. For a while she thought he hated girls that were V-rgins but then again, she began to think maybe he only just hate her and not because she was a V-rgin. Well the feelings are mutual.

She fell into step beside him, trying not to shiver from the biting cold of the wind. “This is new. You rarely ask me for a walk.”

He chuckled darkly. “True.”

“Or am I next to feast with the fish?” Bitter humor played through her voice. She wouldn’t be surprised if he chose to drown her in the cold water, watch the life fade in her eyes. He was vicious enough to lure her into sense of security and then strike when she least expected it. He was a cunning beast.

“It will be an awful waste of a beautiful woman.” He huffed out a dry sounding laugh, deep and rough as the man himself. *Did he just call you beautiful? Wait, are you sure he isn’t drunk? Who knows maybe he is and that’s why he asked you for a walk.* rom-no hand trailed from her back to pull off his suit jacket. With a swift motion he dropped it on her slender shoulders. “Don’t get cold.” He simply said, unaffected by the harsh wind.

She couldn’t believe what just happened. Did he just give her his jacket to wear? Did he just show care to her? She was surprised and at the same grateful for his kindness. The large jacket was warm against her skin. Victoria felt her cheeks heat. The smell of his cologne seeped into her senses. He was gallant for a monster. That was for sure.

*Don’t let this kind gesture get into you. This meant be a plan to lure you into trusting him before he strikes. Do you think he is going to applaud you and take you for a walk after saying those shit to him during breakfast? You should know him better than this. Be brave, Vicky. Don’t let your guards down.* Her subconsciousness scolded.

“What am I doing here?” She demanded.

“To walk.”

“You expect me to believe that?” She frowned.

“Yes.” He simply stated. “You didn’t leave your room for two weeks. You look sickly pale.” He glanced down at her. “You needed sun.”

If she was sitting she would’ve fallen off the chair. Was he acting like a caring friend now? Was he trying to act like he knows nothing about what happened that day and her reasons for locking herself up? He had caused and he knows it so why was he acting to be clueless? If she was so dumb she would have fallen for this cheap lie of his.

“And you decide to take me out for a walk?”

“As you can see.”

“Being nice doesn’t suit you at all.” She points out.

He chuckles darkly. “I know right? So I advice you don’t get use to this side of me.” He shrugged.

It was silent between the two of them until Victoria spoke up again. “I’m sorry for what I said at the dinning table when we were having breakfast. I shouldn’t have said that. Besides your life has nothing to do with me after all and I shouldn’t have come in,side your room when you were having a quiet time.” He was the one who suppose to be apologizing for treating her like a slave, for locking herself up in his mansion against her will, for controlling her like a f-cking robot but going into his room was wrong. She knew she was wrong and he has every right to yell at her. Besides her mother trained her well. When you are at fault always learn to apologize, because it’s a better way to live.

“I wasn’t expecting that apology.” He said, staring ahead of the waters as they came to a stop in front of the ocean. “I shouldn’t have yelled at you. I was just…. I don’t know, pissed.” He sighed. “I’ve never had any one to look after me when i was growing up as a child, especially when I’m sick. Dad never knew about my sickness,” He paused, as if contemplating whether to go on with the story or drop it. It’s not like she’s anyone important to him that needs to know about his secrets and pain while growing up as a child but the need to tell her was way too strong for him to resist. “Because if he gets to know, he will yell at me and sometimes beat me for being weak. He always said, ‘a true warrior never lets out his weakness. And if you ever want to succeed me in this mafia then you have to promise never to show out your weakness, because that’s the first step to defeat and failure.’” He turned to look at her now. “I’m not hiding my weakness from anyone. I only just want to be strong. My father let out his weakness and that was what caused the death of my mother and that’s one reason why he taught me never to be weak.”

*Did he taught you how to be a monster and treat other people like trash?* She was going ask him that but decided not to.

She knows he has passed through a lot. She could see the sadness in his eyes but she was surprise for the fact that he actually just opened up to her. She wasn’t expecting this story from him even in a million years to come but he surprised her. He always does.

She didn’t say anything. She just looked away from him and stare at the flowing waters. Why can’t life be as free as the flowing waters? Why can’t her life be free? Why can’t rom-no life be free as well? She quickly shook her head, vigorously. When did she start to care about the man who took away her freedom? He might have confided in her and told her his story but that doesn’t change anything. It didn’t change the monster that he is. It didn’t bring back her freedom. Who know maybe it’s just his way to lure her into trusting him. He was a chameleon and one needs to be careful around him.

“Did he also teach you how to be a monster.” *You shouldn’t have said that, girl.*

“You still think of me as a monster?”

“You left me no choice.”

He didn’t say anything for a while but spoke again afterwards. “Emily told me you didn’t eat because I refused to eat, is that true?”

“I didn’t know that girl had a big mouth.” Victoria mumbled to herself feeling slightly embarrassed. “I…it wasn’t as if I was worried about you or anything. I was only just grateful to you.”

“Grateful to me? For what?”

She hesitate for a while. “You saved me from getting raped by that prick.” She said getting disgusted already. rom-no didn’t say anything. “Was that why you killed him?”

“You harmed yourself because of the memory and moreover he touched what belongs to me.”

Anger boiled in,side her as he said those words. She thought they were going to have a serious and violence free conversation for once. She thought they were going to talk like normal two people but of course, he has to say that one word she hate to hear. “When are you going to ever stop treating me like I belong to you?” The normal conversation they were having was long gone and forgotten now.

“You are mine.” He growled.

“I. am. not. f-cking. yours!?” Her voice raised at the last sentence. “You can’t keep looking at me like an object simply because I owe you.”

“But you do owe me.” He smirked.

“I don’t owe you. I wasn’t the one who came to your club to gamble. I am only here because….I love my father so much even with his wrongdoings and seeing him getting mistreated by a prick like you hurts like a bitch!”

“Well that has no f-cking business to do with me. All I know is you are paying for your father’s sin.” He growled. His gentleness were now gone and replaced with that monster side of his. She was stupid to think that he would change. She was stupid to think that he cares. He didn’t actually save her from getting raped, he only came to her rescue because he see her as his possession. And it hurts. But what hurts more…is it almost getting raped by that ho-ny jerk or being looked upon as a possession?

“I hate you.” She spat angrily at him. “For a while I thought you actually cared but I’m so stupid to even believe you did.” She said.

“I told you not to get use to that side, didn’t i Amore?” He raised a questioning brow at her.

“F-ck you.” She yelled. “Why am I even grateful to you for saving me when in reality, I wouldn’t have been in that mess if it weren’t for you! You made me become a stripper. you are the cause of all my misfortune! Why was I even worried about you? You are nothing but a monster! i wish you could just disappear from my life.”

“You have no right to speak to me like this. Rule number four, don’t speak so rudely to me.” He said, glaring at her.

She chuckled darkly. “F-ck your rules as well!” She grabbed his hand and placed it on her chest. rom-no was so surprise at the move she just made. “And mind you, I am a person, not your possession.” She looked deeply into his eyes, pushing her punishment aside for later. He could no longer pretend to be indifferent. She saw emotion swirling under his dark eyes, even if he chose to remain silent. He didn’t even pull his hand away. He just stood there like a rod, his gaze never left her brown ones. He was mostly surprise of her courage. No one have ever spoken to him that way before. Not even his fellow mafia don.

She was going to pull his hand from her chest and walk away but he grabbed hold of her hand and pulled her against his chest before smashing his l-ips on hers.
