CHAPTER EIGHTEEN: A BANQUET FOR KING MANFRED.

A knight rushed into the King Cyrus’s meeting hall where he sat with his royal cabinets.

He knelt with a knee, bowing. “Sire..”

“Go ahead.”

“King Manfred and his troops are nearly close to the boundary as we speak. ”

” How long do they have to reach the kingdom?” He asked.

“Hours, Sire, and they have till tonight to reach the castle. ”

” As soon as they reach the boundary, their journey may be interrupted. Bandits are likely to attack. Send the troops to escort escort them to the castle. ”

” Yes, Sire.” Said the knight before retreating the hall.

” Arthur, ” he called.

“Yes, father.”

“Have the hall prepared, for we will be having a banquet tonight.”

” Yes, father.” He retreated the hall.

~~~~
” King Manfred?” Said Queen Elizabeth, surprised.
“Yes, my lady. By tonight they will be in the castle. As I have heard, his majesty has ordered his Highess to prepare the reception hall. They will be a feast tonight for King Manfred’s arrival. “Said the queen’s maid.
” Did his majesty mentioned why King Manfred was visiting? ” Queen Elizabeth asked.
” No, my lady. I presume it’s something only between his majesty and King Manfred. ” She replied.
Queen Elizabeth nodded.
The evening approached nearly fast. Itzel dressed with Ginny and Arya’s assistance.
Arthur had told her about King Manfred’s arrival and how his father is planning on hosting a great feast for them.
Since the news had arrived to King Cyrus, Arthur has been quite busy with the wh0le supervision and the rest of them. He had only seen Itzel once that day and is expecting to see her again tonight.
“Who is this King Manfred?” Ginny asked.
“He is the King of Manhattan.” Arya replied.
“Manhattan?” She repeated, ” I have never heard of this kingdom before. Tell me about it. ” She inquired.
” That was thirty years ago.” Arya began. ” Atlantis and Manhattan has been a sworn enemy. They hated each other and had nothing to do with each other. Until one day, some issues came up between this two kingdoms which lead to a great war. It was said that the war had ended tragically for the Manhattan’s for they lost a great number of soldiers while Atlantis had lost but a few. Years later, ” she continued. ” The Manhattan’s came to Atlantis, this time, they came in peace. And since then this two Nations has been like brothers. ”
” It looks like the Manhattan’s are only back for the resources. I must presume Atlantis do supply to them a large number of nation feedings. ” Itzel suggested.
” You speak the truth, my lady. Atlantis do supply to them resources every year. The only way King Manfred shows his appreciation is by visiting the kingdom. ” Arya added.
” So, therefore, King Manfred’s visiting is to show appreciation to his majesty. Oh, I see. ” She said, thoughtfully.
” But something baffles me, my lady. How were you to find the reason for King Manfred’s visiting? Not even the Queen could guess it right. “Arya questioned.
” It’s just simple. ” She said, ” the wh0le reason we’re hiding in the story. The only way a nation stands with another nation is a banquet. Year after year they will keep having a banquet rotationally. This year’s banquet is held here, which means last year’s feast was held at Manhattan. ”
” You are correct, my lady. ” Arya praised. ” Are you aware, my lady, that King Manfred has a daughter too? ”
” I no nothing about the Manhattan’s or anyone who dwelleth in it neither do I know anything about his daughter. ”
” I heard she journeyed with him to Atlantis. ”
“It will be an honor to me her. ”
The feast began after a short prayer which was said by the eldest of the king’s cabinet then a toast which followed.
The two Kings sat together with King Manfred’s daughter beside him. Rumors has had it that Manfred’s daughter was a goddess sent from the gods down to man.
She hærdly looked into the eyes of those who asks for her hand in marriage yet, she turns their offers down. Not to mention, her father fears she could become an old spinister too.
Most of the attendants who attended the feast couldn’t stop from admiring such beauty she possessed. She ate on her served food, her eyes studying the environment.
Her gaze made a stop as she sighted Prince Arthur with Itzel smiling and chatting happily with each other.
“You look beautiful tonight, m’lady” Arthur told Itzel. “I have never seen you on this dress before.”
“You don’t have to see all the dresses I posses. Besides, isn’t this what you wanted me to put on? ” She told him.
” Of course. But don’t you think those men will be lusting after you? ” She noticed a hint of jealousy in his words.
” Are you jealous already, my Lord? ” She asked, a little smile playing on her l-ips.
” There’s no man touching you tonight, so no, I am not jealous. “He put a hand spoon of the mustard sauce into his mouth.
Itzel smiled. “You know, you do look handsome when you get jealous.”
He frowned. ” I am not.”
” Okay.” She chuckled.
“Well,” he said, “I wouldn’t mind telling every single person in here that you’re my wife and that I am lucky to have you with me. I just can’t stop admiring you, my love. “He said with a little demonstration with his hands.
Itzel held his hand down, “We are in a feast and not in our chamber for christ’s sake, Arthur.” She said in a clinched teeth, pretending to be annoyed.
His eyes diverted to her chest, staring at the part of her br-asts which perforated out of her dress. Itzel caught him staring, she faked a hærd cough, interrupting his little investment. And he looked at her chuckling.
“Arthur…” She called, but he interrupted.
“I am obsessed with you, my love, and no one can ever stand between that. ”
Itzel thought of what might have made him say that to her, like he knew something was going to happen? Or somehow she had unconsciously told him about her dream?
King Cyrus stood up and everywhere grew quiet. “Let me introduce to us our most honored guest, King Manfred of Manhattan. “He introduced.
King Manfred rose to his feet and for a while there was an applause. “It’s a pleasure to have sit with all of you. It’s an honor to be welcomed after a long year. I will also like to introduce my lovely daughter, princess Eritrea.”
He stretched his hand and Eritrea held it as she stood up. There were little chattering here and there. The lad was incredibly gorgeous as they say. Princess Eritrea waved a small smile to the king and the rest of the attendants.
“My name is Eritrea. I just want to thank his lordshΒ‘p for setting such a huge feast for us. And to each one of you for showing an open arms to welcome us… Thank you.” She sat down, looking down.
Then she rose her gaze at Arthur’s direction and their eyes met, locked for a second before she waved him a sed-ctive smirk.
The feast had ended successfully. Everyone left to their respective homes and chambers.
As Itzel walked through the hallway to her room, Eritrea – King Manfred’s daughter walked from the other direction. Their eyes locked to each other as they approach closer.
They stopped at each other’s front, each slightly bowing to the other.
“I hear you are Lady Itzel, Prince Arthur’s bride. Is that true?”
“You heard right, your Highess. ”
I suppose you know who I am by now. ”
” I do know that. It’s an honor to meet you, your Highess. ”
” A pleasure to meet you too, my lady. ” After a while she asked, “Have we met before, my lady?”
“I doubt we have. Is there a problem, your Highess?”
“Not at all. ” She smiled, ” Goodnight, my lady.”
Itzel watched her leave to her room. Something about her doesn’t seem right. She could feel this same weird feeling she had felt before…
CHAPTER NINETEEN: DREAMS II (SLEEPWALKING)
The wind woozed to her ear causing her to wake from her slumber.
She shifted the blanket beside, stepping out of the bed. She walked unconsciously to the door, pressing the door knob down and letting the door open.
Itzel exited the room, walking through the silent hallway to nowhere in particular.
Stopping at a door, she opened it. Wild wind blew at her, causing her to shiver. She entered, shutting the door close behind her as she moved forward to a corner.
She could hear a whispering voice from the corner and that part of the room shun a different color from the other part of the room. The atmosphere within that environment felt strange and strong.
Standing, she kept still to listen. The familiar voice kept speaking different ancient words, not once, not twice either. Repeatedly.
She shifted the white curtain which had been used to hide the corner, getting a glimpse of who it was. The figure was clothed in a black coat sitting beside a small pot.
At each item she put in,side the pot, green smokes left. She then stir the concoction, smiling evily.
Her feet stepped on a metal plates which was laying on the floor, causing the figure to turn her face towards her direction.
Recognizing the familiar face, she gasped moving backwards. Her eyes finally noticing her environment. She looked around, what was she doing in there?
How did she entered in there?
She rushed to the door, pulling it opened. Running through the hallway to her chamber, then shutting the door close behind her.
She rested against the door, breathing heavily like a chased bear. Her eyes ran around her room, as her breath made no effort of calming down.
β€œHow… How did I get in there? ” she mentally asked herself.
“Are you alright, m’lady?” Arthur’s voice made her shiver.
She nodded several times, “yes. Yes, I am alright.” She said, walking to the bed.
“You look frightened, is there a problem?” He asked again.
“No, not at all. I just…” She looked at him, “how did I get out of here?”
He shrugged, “I didn’t see you when I woke up. I thought you wanted to spend the night in your chambers. ”
” Are you sure you are alright? ” He asked again.
” Of course, ” but the frightened look was written all over her face. ” I need a warm bath.”
“Do you need some help with that?”
She shook her head, ” No. I can do it myself. “She left to the bathroom.
Arthur was left to wonder. The look in her eyes wasn’t a convincing one. She looked startled and frightened like she has seen something she shouldn’t.
He knew that was something he would get to find out later.
~`*~`*~`*
She sat in the garden. The wh0le incident about last night has kept her in thought.
Her fingers clinched against each other. Her heart beating hærd against her chest. This wh0le thing was becoming so strange, annoying and confusing at the same time.
Ginny walked to where she sat, bowing. “My lady, lady Eritrea is here to see you.”
Lady Itzel looked at Ginny for a while, before nodding. ” Let her come. ”
She sighed. With every choice she wanted to say no but she couldn’t. Right now, she wished not to talk to anyone, Lady Eritrea especially.
Eriteria approach with a smile on her face. Itzel stood up, and they both bow to each other.
“Hello, my lady.”
Itzel scoffed. “What do you want, Eritrea.”
“I presume a nice welcoming gesture would be nice. Can I have a seat, please? ”
Itzel said nothing and Eritrea made herself a seat. ” So, how was your night, my lady? ”
“Do you expect I answer that?”
“Yes. Maybe a nice reply would do. Well, mine was great. ”
” Oh, I see. That’s great to hear. Now tell me, why are you here? ” She asked, annoyed.
” Easy. Easy, okay. I am not the evil one here. I am as innocent as you are. Tell me, why do you hate me, Itzel? ”
” I do not hate you, I’m just not comfortable having you around. ”
” Why? ”
Itzel’s memory reflected back to last night. She unintentionally shook her head, “I do not know.”
“Well, I heard his Highess has left for Asia, is that true? ”
” You are already aware of that, why asking me? ”
” Just wanted to be sure, that’s all. But I am fine with you not replying my questions and I wouldn’t mind you being rude to me. I’m not the bad one here…”
” Who is?” She asked.
” I do not know.”
” Don’t act like you know nothing, you do. I don’t know who you are but all I do know is you are not just King Manfred’s daughter.”
” Then…?”
” I don’t know.”
” Can we for damn sake have a nice discussion? We are princesses, we shouldn’t be quarreling like enemies. We can start over again if that would be better. I mean we can start we the introduction, maybe the first time we hadn’t done it better.”
” I am princess Eritrea, daughter of King Manfred from Manhattan.” She introduced.
” I am Itzel, daughter of King Alfred of Avalon.”
“We both are princesses, we can make a good friends before I leave back to my hometown.” She said.
” Leave?”
” Missing me already?” She teased.
She rolled her eyes. “Just asking.”
Eriteria laughed. ” You look beautiful when you’re angry. I bet that’s another part Arthur hasn’t seen.”
” Why are you here?” She asked, changing the topic.
” To have a talk with you.”
“I’m listening.”
“Last night,what did you see?” She asked.
” Nothing.” She answered. “Everywhere were covered in smoke, I couldn’t see anything.”
” We both know you saw something so don’t you think about lying to me.”
” What are you? Who are you? And why are you here?”
She hesitated for a long moment, ” Why do you hate me this much, Itzel?”
“We both know why you are here and why you had to travel with your father all the way from Manhattan. And I have this feeling it has something to do with Arthur’s past life.”
Eriteria chuckled softly. ” I will let you be. Guess I came at the wrong time. See you around, my lady.” She walked halfway, turning her head slightly to the back. She threw Itzel an evil glace, mentally muttering to herself.
“You think I’m a fool not to have noticed you, Freya. You might have come back in a different body, so have I. Your little tricks has nothing to do with me and I won’t stop until I have what belongs to me. Just watch and see how everything will become mine. ”
She retreated further.
Ginny approached the wondering Lady. “Is everything alright, my Lady?” She asked.
“Something is just not right about her. I don’t know why but I can feel it.”
