CHAPTER SIXTY FOUR:STRANGE ISLAND 5

As I contemplated the dire situation outside, Jing began to voice her ideas about resolving the conflict, and I couldn’t help but smile at her earnestness. Her suggestions seemed somewhat idealistic in the face of such imminent danger.

“Jing,” I said, my tone gentle, “I appreciate your optimism, but talking to them may not be as effective as you hope. There’s a lot of fear and anger directed at us.”

She paused for a moment, her determination unwavering, and then nodded, acknowledging the complexities of the situation.

Her determination was indeed one of the qualities I admired most about her. “However,” I added, a hint of warmth in my voice, “we should consider addressing another pressing matter first.”

Her gaze turned to me, questioning, and her cheeks took on a rosy tone as she realized what I was referring to. “Why don’t you put on some clothes first,” I suggested with a playful smile.

Her face flushed as she hurried to get dressed, leaving me to wonder what challenges lay ahead and how we could navigate them together.

As Jing quickly got dressed, I moved to the window to assess the situation outside. The villagers had gathered closer to the hotel, their angry shouts growing louder, and their weapons glinting in the sunlight. It was evident that they had one goal in mind: to get to us.

We needed a plan. I turned to Jing, who had finished dressing. Her eyes were filled with a mixture of determination and fear.

“Jing,” I began, “We can’t let them inside the hotel. I need you to find a way to barricade the doors. I’ll go to the back exit and try to create a distraction to draw their attention away from you.”

She nodded in agreement, her resolve shining through. “And after that?”

“After that,” I replied, “we’ll need to find a safe place to hide, at least until help arrives.”

We both knew that our options were limited, and the danger surrounding us was real. Yet, as we prepared to face this dire situation, there was a shared understanding that we would do whatever it took to protect one another.

I stepped outside to confront the villagers, trying to maintain my composure despite the unsettling situation. The atmosphere was heavy with tension, and the villagers appeared unnaturally calm, as if they were under some dark influence that had robbed them of their humanity.

Chen was at the forefront of the agitated mob. His grin sent angry down my spine, and his eyes seemed empty, devoid of any normal human emotion. I was perplexed and alarmed by their strange behavior.

I addressed them with a mix of frustration and disbelief, “Are you all sure you want to die today?” I had no desire for violence, but their intentions were far from clear.

“You did this?” I pointed accusingly at Chen, who maintained his eerie grin.

Chen’s grin widened, revealing a disconcerting hint of cruelty as he responded, “You’re not human either.”

My frustration deepened as I tried to comprehend what was happening. These villagers were not themselves, and their bizarre actions were deeply disturbing. I didn’t know the cause of their sudden change, but I was acutely aware of the danger I was in. I had to find a way to defuse the situation without resorting to violence, for the sake of Jing.

I glanced back at the balcony where Jing stood, worry etching lines into her face. The villagers, once peaceful and welcoming, now seemed like a twisted version of themselves, under some dark influence that made them behave erratically.

I turned back to the villagers and asked in a more measured tone, “Why are you doing this? What’s going on?” Maybe I should try things Jing way and if it does work, I will definitely finish them off.

Chen’s eyes bore into me with an eerie intensity, and he responded in a cold, emotionless voice, “You’ve brought a curse upon us, and it’s time to end it.”he definitely is playing things into the villagers head.

” You must get rid of the curse you brought” the villagers growl ” killing you is the only way ”

I struggled to make sense of their accusations. What had they seen or heard to make them believe I was the source of their troubles? The air grew thick with tension as I weighed my options. I had no intention of hurting these villagers, but I couldn’t let them harm me or Jing either.

“Listen to me,” I implored, taking a step forward. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. We’re not here to cause any harm. just tell me what’s going on. We can work this out.”

The villagers remained undeterred, and their determination to rid themselves of the perceived curse remained unwavering. My words fell on deaf ears, and they closed in around me.

Jing, watching from the balcony, realized that words alone would not resolve this crisis. Her voice trembled as she shouted, “Muchen, be careful!”

As the villagers pressed closer, their once-familiar faces twisted with fear and hatred, I knew that peaceful negotiation was no longer an option. I had to defend myself and protect Jing from whatever sinister force had taken hold of this village.

the villagers lunged at me, driven by some unseen malevolence, I swiftly and ruthlessly dispatched them one by one. My movements were swift, almost instinctive, as I fought to keep them at bay. Their eerie determination only fueled my resolve to protect Jing.

In the chaos, I caught sight of Chen. He seemed to be the one leading the charge, the force behind the villagers’ irrational behavior. I incapacitated the others and finally held Chen by the neck.

“Tell me,” I hissed, my fingers tightening on his throat, “what is driving you to do this?”

Chen’s eyes, once filled with anger, now held a mixture of fear and pain. He coughed, struggling to speak as my grip tightened. “It’s not me,” he choked out. “It’s you, just a simple talk and they believe you brought this to town.”

I increase my grip around Chen neck with only one intension , to kill him and brutally as possible.

Chen gasped for air, his words disjointed. “You. Shouldn’t. do this ” he growl ” Jing deserve better ”

My anger seethed as Chen’s words cut through the tension-filled air. How dare he said that he knew what was best for Jing?

“You know nothing about us,” I growled at Chen, my fingers itching to exact retribution. “You’re meddling in matters beyond your comprehension.”

Chen stood his ground, his resolve unwavering. “It doesn’t take a lifetime to recognize that she deserves better than a monster like you.”

The words hit me like a punch to the gut, but before I could retaliate, Jing stepped between us, her grip on my hand firm. Her presence, her touch, always had a calming effect on me.

“Please, Muchen, not like this,” she implored, her voice laced with a mixture of fear and compassion. “Violence won’t solve anything. We need to find out what’s happening here, together.”

I felt the anger slowly ebbing away as I looked into Jing’s eyes. She was right. I couldn’t let my emotions spiral out of control, I just need Chen head and need to do it clear headed.

Reluctantly, I nodded, my hand relaxing under Jing’s touch. “You’re right, my love. I’ll stay my hand for now. But am not leaving him alive.”and just like that, tear his head from his body, blood splash everywhere.

” Muchen!!!!” Jing yell while Chen body fell to the ground ” why did ”

I lift my hands and look at her ” I know you are kind Jing, I know that but not everyone deserves kindness” frowning I look at her ” and Chen, believe me…he deserves death ”

” When will you learn that not everybody needs to die!!!!” She growl ” people life’s are not fruits, you can pluck and throw away as you fit”

” Jing ”

” You need to sit and think Muchen ” she shake her head ” this wasn’t the right decision, sometimes you do need people your life ”

” That’s your one damn problem!!!” I couldn’t help but yell at her ” you see all these dead body and think am at fault… I was just trying to protect you, you king and do you know why?” I should have stopped myself before I said my last word ” because you’re fucking weak, too weak to protect you own damn self, because of your weakness, I have more blood on my hands ”

Watching the pain in her eyes, I knew I should’ve have said that ” Jing I……” I couldn’t finish my sentence before she walk away ” where are you even going?”

” Is not like am in danger!!!!” She yell back ” you killed everyone in the village right….and you did that because am so weak, thank you Lord Muchen!!!!”

Yep she is angry.

CHAPTER SIXTY FIVE: QUEEN JING IMPEACHMENT 1

In that moment when I watched Jing disappear from my sight, a sense of unease had settled in my chest. I couldn’t help but worry about her safety.

I placed my hands on my waist, frustration gnawing at me. It was challenging to remain patient, knowing that I couldn’t be by her side at all times. My desire to protect her was relentless, and the very thought of something happening to her sent shivers down my spine. Maybe I shouldn’t have told her all that.

But then, it clearly it’s true, she is completely weak and if she keep wandering off in darkness, it won’t do her good.

But then, just when I felt a surge of relief wash over me, someone tapped my shoulder. I turned around, my eyes falling on a familiar face, Li-Mu, the fact he arrived here this fast is truly amazing.

“Milord, are you okay?” he inquired, his voice laced with genuine worry. I managed a nod, my expression softening as I took a deep breath.

“You got here just in time,” I told him, a glimmer of gratitude in my eyes. His swift arrival felt like a lifeline ” something have been bothering me ” I look at him ” Reon wasn’t working with Margaret not Alexander”

” Milord, Alexander happened to be in the palace ”

” What do you mean?”

” He came for fang ” I frown at li-mu words ” worry not milord, I swiftly change her location, I was waiting for your arrival before you decide anything ”

” That’s splendid ” I nod my head ” anything else?”

” Queen Mona has reduced to leave the palace ” I look at him and he continues ” she said something about not having a royal impeachment, insisting she still have every right to stay in the palace ”

” That is highly fishy ”

” I found her talking to lady Margaret in secret, after you ask me to keep an eye on her ”

” Tell more li-mu but for now, I should go and get my wife ”

” As you wish milord”

I left Li-Mu standing there, his presence reassuring, and hurriedly made my way through the village in search of Jing. My concern for her had been growing with each passing moment, and the time it took to find her felt like an eternity.

As I moved through the village, I couldn’t help but observe the inhabitants, most of them children, who seemed to be waiting for their parents’ return. Some were gathered on the front steps of their homes, while others played games or ran around with boundless energy. The village held an air of innocence and curiosity that tugged at my heart.

And then, in the midst of all those children, there she was – Jing. Even from a distance, I could see the anguish in her eyes, the weight of her guilt and sorrow. As I approached, her gaze lifted, meeting mine, and she seemed on the verge of tears.

“Jing,” I called her name, my voice filled with concern. Our eyes locked, and I could see the overwhelming emotions in her gaze. It was as though her eyes were pleading for forgiveness, and my heart ached for her.

In that moment, I wanted nothing more than to comfort her, regret hit my heart for the fact that I told her all that.

My legs felt unsteady beneath me as I stood there, the overwhelming sense of weakness gnawing at my spirit. No matter how hard I tried to muster my strength, I was reminded that I was vulnerable, fragile. How had I not realized earlier that Muchen had been right all along? If only I had heeded his words, perhaps none of this would have transpired. The guilt and regret weighed heavily on my heart as I watched the village children – innocents who were now left without parents.

“Jing,” his voice calling my name shook me from my thoughts. I looked up to meet his gaze, and my eyes mirrored the pain and sorrow I felt within. I felt tears welling up, and they began to fall uncontrollably.

The anguish in my heart poured out in a torrent of words. “I’m so sorry, Muchen,” I sobbed, my voice quivering. “If only I wasn’t so weak, if only I had been strong enough to face Margaret on my own…” The tears kept falling, and I felt the weight of my choices crushing me.

Muchen stepped closer, his arms wrapping around me, pulling me into a warm, comforting embrace. The tears I shed soaked into his shoulder as I clung to him. I felt his gentle hand on my back, offering silent reassurance.

In that moment, I knew that he understood, that he shared in my pain and regret. His presence was a lifeline, a reminder that we were in this together, no matter how dire the situation. Despite my earlier choices and the trials that lay ahead, we would find a way to overcome them – together.

But I didn’t want that, I want to get strong, I want to be befitting to stand by his side, I want to get better ” am sorry ” I cried, even knowing that tears won’t make a difference, I just needed to take this off my chest

” Shhhh” he mumble ” is okay ”

We stood there for a while, clinging to each other as my sobs gradually subsided. The guilt and remorse didn’t vanish, but they felt a little lighter with Muchen’s unwavering support. Finally, I pulled away, wiping my tears with the back of my hand, and tried to compose myself.

Muchen gently lifted my chin with a finger and looked into my eyes with deep understanding. “Jing, you’re not alone in this. We face these challenges together, and your strength lies in your determination and your heart. We’ll find a way to make things right.”

His words were a soothing balm to my wounded soul, and a renewed sense of hope began to stir within me. It was true that I had faltered, but that didn’t mean we couldn’t overcome the obstacles that lay ahead. Muchen’s unwavering faith in me was a powerful source of encouragement.

With newfound determination, I nodded and whispered, “Thank you, Muchen, for always being there for me.”

We left the village, hand in hand.

By the time I wake up later, I look around the whole place, how I have missed this place, the paintings, the room but something seem to be missing….. sitting up the door open revealing a maid I gave never seen before

” Good morning milady ” she bow and I frown, I should have just one maid and it’s fang

” Where is she?” I mumble ” fang, my maid ”

She look up then mumble ” the last time we saw her was when the king ask for her presence, since then…..we have no idea where she is ”

I hurriedly dressed and made my way to the king’s quarters, my heart pounding with a mixture of anger and curiosity. The sunlit halls of the palace felt strange yet familiar. I needed to understand what had transpired in my absence.

As I entered the king’s chambers, the guards informed me about his whereabouts, I move towards the throne room but stopped immediately at the mention of my name

They were seriously discussing about my impeachment. The very thought sent shivers down my spine. What had gone so terribly wrong during my absence that they would consider such an action?

Queen Hua, a woman I had almost forgotten about in the whirlwind of recent events, emerged as one of my accusers. Her words reached me through the ajar door.

“It’s clear evidence, your majesties, that Queen Jing murdered Queen Xiang and has been practicing dark magic,” she proclaimed with an air of absolute certainty.

My heart sank as the reality of the situation hit me. I had almost forgotten about Queen Xiang, but there she was, being used as a weapon against me. What kind of evidence has queen hua found against me?

As I continued to eavesdrop, I noticed other nobles and courtiers chiming in with their grievances. Their voices merged into a cacophony of accusations, painting me as a villain. It was a sinister portrayal of someone I hardly recognized.

Fear, frustration, and anger swirled within me. How could my life take such a dark and treacherous turn in my absence? I had to confront these accusations.

But before I could take any action, I need to talk to Muchen, can’t I even have a peaceful day, am back to the palace and queen hua is on my neck and I can’t find fang anywhere.
