CHAPTER SIXTY SIX: QUEEN JING IMPEACHMENT 2

I left the throne room, anger and frustration coursing through me, my thoughts filled with the desire to confront Queen Hua and bring her deceit to light. It was then that I began contemplating ways to silence the evidence against me and dispose of her before she could do any more harm.

As I walked through the grand corridors of the palace, my mind raced, playing through countless scenarios to achieve this dark goal. I needed Fang’s unique skills to infiltrate Queen Hua’s quarters without detection, but Fang was nowhere to be found. I had to find her before I could set my plan in motion.

My journey led me to Muchen’s study room, where I chose to wait for him. It seemed more befitting for a queen to act with patience and poise rather than storming into the throne room. I settled into a chair, my thoughts still consumed by my pressing concerns.

The room felt oppressive, the tension in the palace had found its way into even the deepest corners. I was eager for Muchen’s return, hoping to share the burdens that were weighing on my shoulders. My heart longed to confide in him.

And then, as if from a dream, I heard a familiar voice call my name. It was Diamond, a presence I hadn’t seen in what felt like a lifetime. The excitement of her presence bubbled within me ” diamond?” I turn around “Where have you been?” I asked, elation washing over me.

“I told you not to go to the dinner party. I was really annoyed,” Diamond replied, leaning against the wall. “Now, I need you to return to home.”

I couldn’t hide my confusion. “What are you saying?”

“The future is not clear for you, Jing. Many people want you dead just like before, and it’s all because of Muchen.”

My heart pounded as I tried to process her words. “Diamond…”

“You have no idea who has been plotting against you,” she continued.

“You mean Queen Hua?”

Diamond shook her head, her expression filled with concern. “Margaret and Mona are working together, the most powerful witches together against you, and you still can’t use your powers.”

My heart sank as her words weighed heavily on me. I couldn’t deny the truth in her words. The threats surrounding us were much greater than I had initially thought, and my powers had not yet fully returned. I had always hoped that my love for Muchen would be enough to protect us, but I now faced the harsh reality of our circumstances.

And obviously how naive I have been, love saving us? Who thinks that way?

Before I could respond, the door swung open, revealing Muchen’s entrance into the room. Diamond glanced at him and vanished, leaving me startled and torn between conflicting emotions.

As Diamond disappeared from my sight, I was left in a whirlwind of emotions. My heart raced, torn between the loyalty I felt towards Muchen and the concern Diamond’s words had stirred within me.

I watched as Muchen walked into the room, his demeanor devoid of any emotion. The heavy atmosphere in the room made it difficult to discern what was going through his mind.

“Am I right in assuming you’ve heard about Queen Hua’s accusations?” he asked, releasing his hair from its high ponytail and taking a seat.

“Do you believe her?” I inquired, searching Muchen’s face for any hint of his thoughts.

“I know you killed Queen Xiang,” Muchen stated matter-of-factly. “It’s not something to be ashamed of. Queen Xiang deserved to die.”

I was taken aback by Muchen’s candid admission. “What’s the council’s stance on this?”

“The evidence is solid, Jing,” he replied. “They’re calling for your execution.”

“What?” I gasped, the gravity of the situation sinking in.

“To them, a death deserves some form of punishment,” Muchen explained. “But fear not; I’ve already informed them that it was Fang who killed Queen Xiang, not you.”

A growl of frustration escaped my lips. “You can’t just kill Fang in my place!”

“Why not?” Muchen smiled, a glint of mischief in his eyes. “After all, you’re here now.”

Just as the tension in the room was escalating, Alexander abruptly entered, his presence adding another layer of complexity to the situation. He wasted no time in asserting himself.

“That’s my wife you’re talking about!” Alexander declared passionately, his eyes reflecting the burning rage he felt.

” You two aren’t even married yet ” Muchen’s grin widened, and his confidence was unmistakable. ” you love Fang, don’t you? Do you really want to see her pay for Queen Xiang’s murder?”

There was a deep inner struggle within Alexander. It was then it dawn to me that Alexander is close to fang, could it be that she betrayed me?

“What do you have in mind?” Alexander asked, his voice laden with a begrudging willingness to cooperate.

Muchen’s grin only grew wide and I look his way, who could have thought that he planed this all along? But Alexander agreeing with him so easily is not believable,do he lobe fang that much or he has something in his sleeves.

Reon stood at the entrance to his dwelling, eyeing the two unexpected visitors, Lady Margaret and another woman whose face i had never seen before. I was well-acquainted with Lady Margaret’s wily ways and had a sense of the power she held, even if it remained largely hidden from those around her.

“What do I owe this visitation?” I feigned ignorance, my tone casual. He stepped back, allowing the two women to enter his home.

“I know what you did,” Margaret responded, her voice seething with anger. “I’ll have you stepping out of my business.”

I couldn’t help but chuckle. “Oh, really, out of your business? You’re the one who roped me into this life after you resurrected me.”

“I brought you back to life so that you could live your best life,” Margaret retorted, her eyes burning with determination. ” Not to act like a spoilt child!”

“That bastard killed me!” My voice sounded with raw intensity. “I will not rest until he dies by my hand.”

“Muchen is mine,” Margaret snapped back, her voice unwavering. “Nobody but me will kill him.”

The other woman, whose presence had been a silent and bewildering, suddenly interjected, “Nobody is killing Muchen!” Her words cut through the tension in the room, her tone fierce. “Is this your plan? To use me to dispose of my husband?”

I couldn’t help but frown. The dynamics in play were far more complex than he had ever imagined. It appeared that numerous individuals had their own agendas when it came to Muchen. Some wanted him dead, while others fought for his survival. The lines of allegiance and betrayal were blurred, leaving me feeling uncertain about where my own loyalties should lie.

As I considered the webs of deceit and ambition that surrounded me, my mind was resolute. The time for Muchen’s demise was drawing near, and I had no intention of backing down. If it came to it, I was willing to do whatever it took to ensure Muchen’s death, even if that meant defying Lady Margaret or anyone else who stood in his path.

I knew that it will seem like am playing a dangerous game, one with potentially deadly consequences. Yet, my thirst for vengeance and the need to settle the score with Muchen overpowered this fear. I was determined to emerge victorious, even if it means killing Margaret.

CHAPTER SIXTY SEVEN: DIFFERENT SITUATIONS 1

Muchen stood firm in the dimly lit study room, my eyes focused on a point in the distance, lost in thought. Behind, Jing’s presence was an eerie calm, contrasting with the brewing storm of emotions around them.

Alexander glared at Muchen with an unmistakable hatred burning in his gaze. It was clear that Alexander despised the idea of assisting me, but the circumstances had forced them into an uneasy alliance. I had two formidable enemies to deal with, and definitely need all the help I could get.

Reon’s unexpected return to the land of the living had caught me completely off guard. I was sure that I had ended Reon’s life with a well-aimed thrust to the heart. The fact that Reon was back only pointed to one possibility—Margaret’s involvement.

But why would she help him? Margaret had never harbored any affection for her brother. In fact, she had endured the trauma of his heinous act, his rape of her when she was just a young girl. That experience had scarred her for life, and she loathed him. So, what motivated Margaret to resurrect her brother? Was it for personal gain, or was there something more sinister at play?

“I would like to see Fang,” Alexander interjected, his voice a mix of frustration and suspicion.

“Not now,” i replied, my tone firm and uncompromising.

“You have to be kidding, Muchen. Why should I trust that you have her?” Alexander’s anger flared.

“What do you think?” I growled, my eyes narrowing. “If you won’t do as I say, get out of my sight.”

“Muchen!” Alexander protested.

“You will respect me, Alexander!” My voice echoed with a power that made the ground tremble. “And you will do exactly what I tell you to.”

Alexander fell silent, seemingly pondering the gravity of the situation. This brief respite gave me the opportunity to collect my thoughts. “I need to know who Margaret is working with,” my voice now calmer but determined.

“Mona,” Alexander replied.

“What?” My brows furrowed in confusion.

“She is working with Mona,” Alexander confirmed. “Margaret plans to use her to get to you and then eliminate Jing.”

My attention move to Jing, who remained composed and distant in the face of this revelation. “I need you to set up a meeting,” i said to Alexander.

“A meeting?” Alexander raised an eyebrow, still unsure of whatever intentions I had.

“Yes, arrange a meeting with Margaret at a location I will provide,” i continued. “I need to finish this once and for all.”

” You better not go back on your word ” Alexander growl

” I don’t take betrayal slightly” I growl ” one more mistake and am finishing fang and then you”

Jing watched as Alexander left the study room, leaving me alone with Muchen. When he turned to meet my eyes, his gaze was intense, and I could sense a storm of emotions brewing beneath the surface. My heart was heavy with guilt, and she could think of nothing else to say but, “I’m sorry.”

He furrowed his brows in response. “Why?”

“If only I were strong enough to assist you, then I…” My voice trailed off, remorse filling the silence.

“Stop talking,” Muchen stepped closer to her, his eyes softened. “I don’t need you to be strong, Jing. It’s okay to be fragile.”

“But…” I began, only to be interrupted by Muchen.

“I know you want to feel strong and powerful, and I understand that. But you’re a woman, and it’s okay to be weak and fragile. Let me end all this in your place.”

“I just want to help,” I replied while looking into his eyes. “I know I’ve said it many times, but can you let me handle Queen Hua?”

“Jing,” he frowned. “Queen Hua is a formidable adversary.”

“I know,” I replied.

“It will be really difficult for you to win against her,” Muchen cautioned.

“I know,” i repeated.

“You might get hurt again,” Muchen’s voice carried a hint of frustration. “Last time, I let you get serious about Margaret, and it nearly got you killed. I can’t let you do this.”

“This time, I promise not to do anything rash. If I need help, I’ll call for you immediately,” I tried assuring him, but he wasn’t buying it.

“Jing,” Muchen sighed, and i could see the confusion in his eyes. “I don’t want you to get hurt. Why can’t you relax and let me deal with everyone for you?”

“I can’t,” my gaze dropping. “I would hate myself.”

“Jing,” Muchen whispered, his voice filled with a mix of emotions.

“Please let me do this,” i implored. Silence enveloped them, and Muchen’s gaze remained locked onto hers. I watched as he ran his fingers through his hair and exhaled.

“Come here,” he said, opening his arms, and I didn’t hesitate to hug him tightly. “You can take care of Queen Hua, but promise me you won’t leave the palace. Promise me that.”

“I promise,” Jing replied, her voice filled with determination.

“Where would you like to go when all of this is over?” Muchen asked, his gaze meeting mine.

“All I want is to spend a whole day in your arms,”

He smiled. “And in bed?”

She giggled and nodded. “That too.”

I left the study room after a brief discussion with Muchen, my mind consumed with thoughts of how to handle Queen Hua’s accusations. What evidence did Queen Hua have against me? I realized I had forgotten to ask Muchen about it.

“Your Highness,” a voice called out, and i halted my steps. My maids behind stopped as well.

“Queen Hua,” smile appear on my face, though there was no warmth in the queen’s gaze.

“You thought I wouldn’t be able to catch you, didn’t you?” Queen Hua’s tone was accusatory.

“Did I?” I furrowed her brows. “I’m quite confused about what you’re saying.”

“Feigning ignorance, are we?” Queen Hua retorted.

“I’m not one to act like that, Queen Hua. You should know better,”

“I’d like to see how you plan to stay alive,” Queen Hua smirked. “All the council members have agreed on your death. Impeachment was too easy.”

“Really, do you think I’ll die?” I took a step closer, my smile vanishing from my eyes. “Once again, I have no idea what you’re talking about, but there’s one thing I’m sure of.” I slowly touched Queen Hua’s face. “Your death is near.”

Before Queen Hua could react, i stepped back. “Let’s see who will win,” she hissed, and continued walking.

My anger began to recede as i contemplated her next steps.

I need to find a way to make Queen Hua retract her accusations or reveal the evidence. Could she be brainwashed permanently? First, I need to uncover the nature of the evidence, and only then could she determine the best course of action.

Now that fang isn’t with me, I have no other trust worthy maid to send for my bidding, yes fang betrayed me but she was really helpful in things like this. The question now is if I should disguise myself and go into queen hua chambers

Arriving in my chamber, the door closed and me sitting on the bird, my thoughts went through different scenarios, what I thought initially was to go into her chambers but they must be a better way to get rid of her

” It’s possible” diamond voice, made me lift my gaze and stare at her, these days she keep appearing here as she please ” brain her will be very easy”

” How ”

” That’s my specialty ” diamond smile ” I just need you to make our eyes meet ”
