Ricky entered the hall in search for Annabelle, his eyes scan the room and settled on a figure wearing a black dress. He stride towards her pushing the students blocking his way. He grab her hand and turn her to face him but she wasn’t the one.

“How can I help you?” Jennifer asked staring at the random tattooed guy who have a cold look on his face. she still have some tears in her face.

“Nevermind” he said in his deep voice and continue searching. He finally spot her but frown seeing she was been held by a guy leading her out of the party. All he could see was his back view and not his face.

He followed them instantly. By the time he reach out, they already disappeared.

The Annabelle who doesn’t allow anyone to touch her allowed a guy to hold her hand and followed him obediently? Who is that really? Oh.. he is going to find out.

Liam pulled his hair harshly, he had been looking for Selene but didn’t see her. The look on her face bothered him a lot. She look so hurt, he feel like punching himself on the face right now.

“Have you seen Selene?” Liam asked a girl who she had once seen with Selene before.

“She left.” The girl answered.

Liam storm out of the hall maybe he could aight her her but he didn’t see her.

Ethan stopped his car and grip the steering wheel tight.

“I’m getting down from here” Annabelle said and made to leave but Ethan stopped her by holding her hand.

“Wait.. just for sec” Ethan muttered resting his back head in his chair. “Please” he muttered closing his eyes.

Annabelle decided to stay and accompany him. Silence rented the car.

“Do you want to talk about it?” Annabelle asked breaking the silence.

“I feel like I just lost my best friend. Jennifer had been with me right from kid. When I lost my father and became something else.. she still stayed. Even though she is older than me she still see me as a friend. And now…” He stopped and took a deep breath.

“I don’t know how to face her” he said lowly. “Why does she have to feel that way huh?”

Annabelle was quiet, she recall the scene where Ethan left Jennifer to meet her. She really don’t understand what is going on though.

“Feelings come unexpected” Annabelle muttered.

Ethan opened his eyes and look at her.

“It can’t be controlled” she added and they both satred at each. “Goodnight, I have to go” she said and open the car door. Ricky must be looking for her already.

Ethan exhaled sharply after she left. Her word repeated in his head. Annabelle is right.. maybe he should talk things out with Jennifer but the truth is he doesn’t know what to tell her.

“Oh God” he mumbled.

(NEXT DAY.. BRILLIANT HIGH)

At the basketball court. Ethan was busy tying up his shoes when Liam came to sit beside him.

“The girls aren’t here like they use to” he mumbled looking around the hall. Selene had been avoiding him since morning and it’s driving him nuts.

“I fucked up big time at yesterday party” Liam said focusing his gaze on the floor.

“Me too” Ethan said looking around too. Jennifer had been giving him a cold shoulder too. Well he also does not know how to talk to her. This has never happened Before.

“Wait.. Jennifer?” Liam raised his brow.

“Yeah, I fucked up” Ethan said.

“What did you do?” Liam asked, Ethan better not hurt her.

“She…” Ethan stopped and inhaled sharply. “Said she loves me last night”

At the same time, Jennifer was also explaining what she did last night to Selene.

“You what?!!!” Selene exclaimed.

“Shh.. quiet down girl. I thought you promised not to scream?” Jennifer snapped at her.

“Sorry I didn’t expect it.. like.. finally you did it” Selene smiled.

“It didn’t end well. In fact right now I’m regretting the fact that I said that to him last night..” Jennifer cut in and Selene’s smile disappeared.

“He said no?” Selene asked.

“Isn’t that obvious. He told me he doesn’t feel the same way right to my face and then left while holding Annabelle’s hand.. I’ve never been that hurt before” Jennifer said staring blankly at the cup before her.

“Oh my God, he is such a jerk. Here I was thinking he likes you too” Selene clinched her fist under the table.

“Yeah he does, but as a friend. I’m the mole in our friendship now. I won’t have say anything if I knew something like this will happen” Jennifer said.

Remembering how Selene gives Liam a cold shoulder she asked. “What about you and Liam?”

Selene’s face went down immediately. She drink out of her fruit juice and sigh.

“I can’t say it” she said.

“What, I just told you mine” Jennifer raised her brow.

“I know but trust me Jennifer you don’t wanna know what Laim did last night” Selene said.

Back to the basketball court. Liam eyes widened like that of the moon hearing Ethan’s explaination.

“Dude! Are you crazy? You did what?” He asked.

“I told her I do not feel the same way” Ethan replied.

“Jennifer had been into you but your slow wit head didn’t notice. Why would you reject someone like her even after what she did for you?” Liam asked almost yelling.

“I know she had been there for me but that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t be honest with her… Did you know about her feelings for me before?” Ethan almost yelled back too.

“Selene told me” Laima replied.

“Oh great, Selene knows too and you both think I’m too unimportant to tell? If I had known this sooner, I would have known how to deal with it last night. It came all of a sudden”

“Oh yeah. Well if I’m you I wouldn’t think twice before saying yes!” Liam said standing up on his feet.

“Well I’m not you!” Ethan snapped.

“She sacrificed a lot for you…”

“I’m fucking tired of hearing those words. It is not my will to hurt her!!” Ethan cut in.

“Well you did motherfucker! I still don’t know what you see in that creepy ass…

Liam didn’t finish his word as Ethan grab him by the collar. His eyes cold like never before.

“Don’t complete that words Liam.. don’t”

Liam knew best and keep the remaining word to himself. He reached for Ethan’s hand and removed it from his collar, his eyes were cold too.

“What the hell is going on here!” The Coach yelled.

“You’ll regret this Ethan, mark my word” Liam said and left him standing alone.

Ethan sat on a chair outside school. He just fought with his two close friend. What is wrong with him? First was Jennifer who still haven’t spoken a word to him since morning and then he had a fight with Liam.

“Weirdo”

He looked up when he heard the voice.

“Hey” he greeted back and rest his back on the chair.

Annabelle sat beside him. “Why are you alone?” She asked.

“I’m not” he replied and gave her a smile. “I’m with you”

“Don’t fla…

“Flatter myself.. I know. I’m getting good with your words now Belle” he said.

This is the second time he will call her that name which feels a unique.

Annabelle pulled out a chocolate from her pocket and gave it to him. “I don’t know what is wrong with you but I hope this helps you feel better” she said.

Ethan collected it from her. “Thanks” he smiled and stared at it. Annabelle stayed seated not knowing what to do. This weirdo look sad, how pathetic.

Something clicked on Ethan’s mind and he look up with a lit smile and face Annabelle.

“Hey, wanna do something exciting?” he asked.

“I don’t think we define the word exciting the same way, but I’m ready to hear yours” she replied.

“Come with me” He said holding her hand. Annabelle was getting used to it already.

“Where are we going?” She asked.

“I’m taking you somewhere”

While the class was going on, the teachers noticed two people absent. Ethan and Annabelle. She asked for them but no one knows where they went.

Jennifer knew what it means. Ethan and Annabelle are definitely together.

Liam also noticed. His eyes met with selene but she avert her gaze immediately.

Ethan lead Annabelle down a hall. Hearing some footsteps, he quickly drag Annabelle close and hide. It was a teacher passing by.

Annabelle whole body stiffen. This is the closest she had ever been to anyone. Her head was rested on his chest as he watch the teacher pass by.

Ethan also noticed and quickly disconnect himself from her. “Sorry I was just trying to hide us”

“Why are we hiding?” She asked.

“We are sneaking out of school and I don’t want us to get caught” Ethan replies still holding her hand tight.

“And you think this is a good idea?”she asked.

“I’ve done this before” he replied as he continue to lead her.

“How many times?”

“Seven, and I was caught four times” he shrugged while Annabelle shook her head in disbelief.They spot another teacher and hide again.

“Teachers hardly comes here, why is today different?” Ethan mumbled staring at the male teacher who is on the phone. “Shit, he is heading towards us” he said. Just before he could reach them, he stopped and walked the other direction, disappearing out of their sight.

“Thank goodness” he muttered. They got to a fence. “Can you climb?” Ethan asked Annabelle in between his hard breath.

Annabelle didn’t reply, she jumped and climb the fence wall Swiftly.

“Right, you do climb up to my window. I’m stupid to ask that question” He mumbled.

“Hey!” Their head snapped to the voice direction and they saw a security walking towards them. “Tssk” Ethan smirked and climbed the walls too. Landing on their feet, they came across another security. He is chubby with a hamburger on his hand.

“Hey, kids!” He stood up slowly because of his weight.

“We are caught” Annabelle muttered.

“Run!” Ethan yelled and drag her with him. The security also follow.

“Hey!” The chubby man yelled.

Ethan and Annabelle both look back at him and laughed at the way the man was forcing himself to run. After a while of chasing them, the man give up and crouched down while breathing hard.

Ethan stopped and lift his middle finger at the man. They are going to get into trouble once they return anyway.

“C’mon do it” he said to Annabelle.

“What does the sign means?” She asked with a smile. She was enjoying the chase though.

“It’s a fuck you sign” he replied and Annabelle raised both of her middle fingers to the man.

“Yeah, right.. let’s go!” He said dragging her again.

“What’s this place?” Annabelle asked staring at the large building before her. She could see people going in and out with a smile.

“It’s a game house. I wanna teach somethings today” He grin and lead her in again.

“Hey my boy Ethan!” A guy came to meet him. The handshaked briefly and jam their shoulders gently. “Hi have you been, it’s been long I’ve seen you come here” the man said.

“Yeah, I’ve been busy” he replied.

The guy’s eyes settled on Annabelle who was busy observing the place. She saw someone playing a car race.

“Interesting” she muttered.

“I can see you’ve gotten a girl” The guy said to Ethan.

Ethan look back at Annabelle. “Tssk.. think whatever you wanna think. Bye man” he said and turn to Annabelle. “Let’s go”

An hour later…

“No way, you just beat the highest score on your first trial” Ehan’s lips parted as he watch Annabelle who keeps throwing the balls into the net until the last one.

She clapsed her hand and then face him.

Ethan who had been playing basketball all his life had never meet this score.

He played his own but didn’t get to her score. He tried over and over but still didn’t get it.

“Just give up already” Annabelle said.

“A guy like me never gives up” He said grabbing the ball for another round. After several trial, he finally beat her score.

“Yessss!!!!” He screamed insanely and climbed in the place and shook his waist.

Annabelle burst into laughter.

“I won!” He faced her and winked.

Other girls around also laughed too.

“Let me play one more” Annabelle said and he stopped dancing.

“Hell no, let’s go somewhere else” he jumped down and hold her. He knows she’ll beat his score again if he allow her.

“I want to play another one” she said but the guy didn’t let her.

Ethan took her to the park where they had lunch and then chocolate.

For the first time Annabelle felt a light creeping into her. She saw amazing places she never thought it exists.

At evening..

“So, are you coming to my place or heading home?” He asked as the both walked through the peaceful street.

“I’m heading home, I have something to take care of.. though I still wish to learn more things. Today is really great” She said and then look at him. “Thank you”

They stopped walking and faced each other. “Hm, I can still teach you a lot of exciting thing Belle” he spoke lightly.

“Like what, I want learn them” she said.

Ethan walked closer to her. Annabelle breath halt, he is doing it again. He stopped when he was close Enough, his figure overcoming hers as she stare up at him.

“Of course I’ll teach you” Ethan whispered, he’s glad the girl didn’t move away from him like she used to.. he raised his hand up to her face.

“Can I touch you?” He asked so low she almost didn’t hear him. She could feel her heart beating in a werid rythm. Swallowimg, she nodded. In the next moment, she felt his cold fingers brush her cheek. His touch felt different, her stomach build up in anticipation on what he is about to do.

“You look beautiful Annabelle, I feel alive around you” he spoke lightly.

Alive? Around someone like her. “You do?” She couldn’t help but ask.

“Yeah, you’re the most straightforward person I’ve ever met. You’re amazing, even with your creepy vibe” he said still caressing her cheek gently, their eyes still stay interlocked.

“Have you ever felt butterflies before?” He asked lightly and she was a bit confused.

“No” She whispered.

Ethan gave her a light smile. “Close your eyes” he demanded. She hesitated for a moment but then wanted to know what he meant by butterflies.

Ethan stared at her face for a while before leaning down to her slowly. And in the next moment, he collide his lips with hers…
