✍️ CHAPTER TITLE ✍️: Surprise…. Part 1.

It took more minutes than expected before Andromeda returned to the room. The moment Vera saw her with a tray that had twi apples on it, she knew Andromeda visited the kitchen after giving Clara the puppy.

“Mother asked after you, she’d been to your room,” Andromeda shared, going closer to Vera and smuggling her body into the space beside her.

“I was almost seeing your bum as you were walking,” Vera simply said, her eyes staring at Andromeda’s laps which were exposed, and the nightgown which stopped three inches from covering her knee.

“You haven’t just learned how to go after your man, you also learned to stare at people’s bum while they are walking?” Andromeda scoffed, taking another bite from the apple before she finally dropped the leftover on the tray.

“I didn’t ask to see a naked woman,” Vera murmured when Andromeda removed her nightgown and stood stark naked in her presence.
Vera scrunched her nose together in shame, rolling her eyes at the silly act of Andromeda. Why is she like that?

“Now see what that idiot left behind for me to admire by myself,” Andromeda muttered angrily, ignoring the distaste on Vera’s face and was busy appreciating her physical features and falling in love with them.

“Who are you talking about? Brian?” Vera asked, preparing herself not to feel surprised if Andromeda claimed to still love him. It was to his misfortune that he lost a woman who loves him so much like Andromeda, and to a woman whom Vera can’t explain how she crept into his life.

It must have been the ability of her inner mind to make the right decisions for her, which should be the reason why she never liked Brian’s company around her twin sister. Each time she saw him, something told her the love he was showing was fake. Vera had told Andromeda but love didn’t let her listen.

“Obviously, but I’m not sad though. He does not deserve to live with a beautiful woman like myself,” she blabbed, going over to her closet, to select what dress to wear for the day.

“Seems it’s you whose virginity needs to be questioned because what are those sudden big bums for? You got it from squatting or engaging in an animal posture?” Vera taunted, shamelessly glaring at Andromeda’s body as she moved around.

“An animal posture? Really???” Andromeda laughed when she eventually understood Vera’s statement. Picking a cream-colored gown with her while exiting the closet.

“What about this?” She threw it at Vera who refused to catch it and rather chose to let it hang on her head where Andromeda had thrown it at.

“Very beautiful,” Vera commented sarcastically. The dress covering her sight and her hand stiffed on her chest, without raising to bring it down.

Andromeda rolled her eyes, not seeing anything fun in what Vera was trying to achieve by letting the gown stay on her face and angrily pulling it away from her.

“Good. Now display for me and let me see what you have in there,” Vera stated. She stood up from the couch and walked closer to her twin sister, then folded her arms against her chest.

“Don’t act too bossy, I’m still angry with you,” Meds snarled, reminding Vera of her atrocities and not wanting her to breathe any further. She had just said hurtful words to her but still, she displayed the dress for Vera to sigh.

“Do you have any outing on your mind?” Vera asked, taking the cloth from her hand while appreciating the fabric that was used to make it.

Andromeda placed a finger on her chin, seemed like she was thinking about it. She had wanted to speak when her phone which she kept on the bed started ringing and she didn’t waste time to quickly get it.

A smile which was on their lips lessened as she saw the name of the caller, sparing Vera who was checking the dress out a look before picking up the call,

“Hey,” Andromeda slowly said, her mind wondering the reason why he was calling. The caller started speaking with her, and when she noticed that Vera’s attention had started falling on her, she stood up from the bed where she sat while giving a word or two which Vera couldn’t grab to the caller, then walked into the bathroom.

“I’ll go have my bath. Make sure to change your dress before I get back,” she relayed to Vera before eventually stepping into the bathroom then she closing the door behind her.

Vera furrowed her brows, wondering what call she was receiving that made her to suddenly vanish into the bathroom.

After thinking randomly but couldn’t come to any conclusion, Vera dropped the dress on the couch and quietly left the room.

Smart walked carefully around the mansion. His feet take the next turn by the right, before he started climbing the stairs.

He looked behind him to see a maid cleaning the dinner table and he faked a smile when the latter looked at him.

His status in the house didn’t hold a big gravity but at least, he’s the master when it comes to running everything that takes place in the kitchen before, and after the butler left.

Concentrating his eyes on the path where he was treading carefully and when he got to the part of the house where their rooms were, he went straight to the main door which he had come specially to see the owner of it.

“Who’s that for?” A voice which belonged to a man asked behind him, and he had to stop on his steps to answer,

“It’s- it’s for Ms. Annabel,” he immediately replied, his eyes moving from Scott’s face to stare at the tray that he had in his hand.

“Did she ask for it?” Scott asked, wondering if the Chef was kidding him by bringing food for the one who wasn’t currently at home and instead went out an hour ago.

“She didn’t. She was very sad yesterday and I haven’t seen her downstairs since then. I only thought to bring the food to her myself,” Smart smartly replied. Stating the truth about him coming here but didn’t reveal the intention behind it for the head of workers to see.

“I assume you were busy in the kitchen when she stepped out with her brothers. Was work too much in the kitchen?” Scott interacted, moving from the very end where he was standing earlier and instead moved closer to Smart.

“Oh,” Smart’s mouth opened in surprise, feeling sad to realize that Annabel wasn’t around. He had a sour expression on his face, but he didn’t let Scott notice it as he immediately replaced it with a gentle smile.

“I didn’t know that she wasn’t around,” Smart lied, staring down at the tray in his hand and then looking back at Scott who stood near him, with his two hands hung behind his back.

“And I’ve told you, you can take the food back to the kitchen,” Scott stated in a bored tone, in what way or the other he doesn’t like this chef. Scott isn’t the owner of this mansion but Damien had the care of it in his hand.

This is the reason why many of the people who walk in here respect him. The respect isn’t just by staying at the lane where he placed them, but also when it comes to conversing with him. But this chef has always been grumpy since he was employed.

Grumpy and rude to the extent that he speaks to Scott as if they are in the same category which isn’t so, each time Scott thinks about it.

Smart nodded to his words and immediately started leaving, but not without having a last glance at the closed door.

How come he didn’t know that Annabel wasn’t around? And only came to realize it after meeting that head of workers who loves poking his nose in every matter happening in the mansion.

Annabel sneezed for the third time, removing the nose mask from her nose and rubbing her nose gently, she wasn’t used to disguising in public.

“Are you okay?” Damien who had noticed the way she was sneezing asked, giving the phone in his hand to a guard and placing his hand by the side of her face.

“What did you say?” Annabel asked him. She closed her eyes to release another sneeze and Damien had to rub her back for her. As Damien was on a nose mask, it was not easy to grab what he was saying.

Being a popular celebrity has good values, but sometimes the values ain’t needed. Just like this moment where he couldn’t come to the public as he wanted because he wanted to avoid drama.

Damien looked around, seeing that the people around weren’t concentrating on them, and immediately pulled the side of the nose mask to speak,

“Are you okay? You can remove it if you can’t cope with it,” He stated with care, returning his mask while looking after his sister.

Caleb excused himself to make some random calls, afterwards, he had only come to their side in the mall once, before he excused himself again, he had claimed to book a special space where they wouldn’t need to hide for them. But where is Caleb now?

“Won’t there be a problem if I do? People might notice me,” Annabel asked, her eyes moving around in anxiety.

“The problem can always be fixed. I can’t watch you choke because we’re trying to hide from people who are living their best lives over here too,” Damien who was mad at everything stated, and by himself, he pulled the nose mask away from Annabel, revealing her face for anyone to look at.

“Come let’s check if they have some nice chips,” Damien chimed, grabbing the hand of his sister who was reluctant to come with him.

Later Annabel realized that Damien still had his mask on, and it would be difficult for anyone to notice him, right? Eventually, she went with him, to the stand where chips were being displayed.

In all of this, they weren’t moving alone, two guards were hanging around them, and were set to show themselves that’s in case there was a problem. There was another guard who handled the trolley that contained all the stuff they had shop too.

When they got to the spot where Damien had to pick some plantain chips for Annabel, he let go of her hand and started to pick it for her. Then at that moment, there was a girl who looked the same age as Annabel and was shopping next to them.

By appearance, they both look like teenagers, but if it’s checked out Annabel would be older than her.

The girl named Salle who was with her brother waved a free hand at Annabel who was gawking around before her eyes stopped on the lady that was waving at her.

Annabel’s eyes dimmed, remembering it’s been years since she had a girl of almost the same age as hers around. She was overwhelmed to the extent that when she noticed the lady waving at her with a gentle smile on her lips, Annabel out of being kind also waved her hand back.

Salle who saw the beautiful whom she was admiring because of her straight dark hair waving back at her was glad, and without wasting another moment, she left her brother and the trolly where she stood and went forward to meet with Annabel who already noticed the lady coming closer to her.

“Hey! I’m Salle by name. I love your hair so much,” Salle informed when she got to where Annabel stood. Not bothering to give the young man who was standing beside Annabel any attention and instead concentrated on the beautiful lady.

Damien was still busy selecting what he wanted when he heard a lady’s voice beside them.
He withdrew his hand from the stand to view who was chatting with his sister, but when his eyes ran into the girl’s face, Damien wondered where he once met her because she looked familiar to him.

With him being on a nose mask, no one would recognize him. He watched how Annabel looked at him, and when he wasn’t saying anything to her aside from just staring, she concluded that Damien didn’t have any problem with what was going on.

“Hello, thank you,” Annabel who had been with a sour expression earlier pulled a smile on her lips and greeted without mentioning her name as Salle did.

Afterward, the Salle girl started speaking with Annabel and even if Damien found it odd to see his sister conversing with a stranger who had the same stature as her, he was still cracking his head at where he had seen the young lady before now.

“Salle, I told you to not go away from me,” a man who appeared to be in his early thirties appeared behind the girl while pulling the trolley which contained the items they were going to buy with him.

He was speaking to his sister who could not be found beside him anymore, and he had come to search for her, only to meet her speaking with another lady of her age. Oh, wow!

When Salle heard her brother calling her she turned to meet his eyes but didn’t go away from where she stood. Damien stood beside Annabel until the man appeared and he immediately knew where he had met the young lady before, then his furrowed brows relaxed.

‘So this hyena left my task just to shop around with his sister?’ he muttered to himself without anyone hearing what he just said.

“You,” John exclaimed, remembering the lady whom his sister was talking to as Damien’s sister and wondering about the reason why she was out alone.

“Why have you come out alone? Where’s Damien?” He said anxiously, looking around to confirm if there was any bad person keeping tabs on Annabel before his eyes fell on the man standing behind her.

Annabel blinked her eyes, wondering where the man had met her before to recognize her, but with Damien around her, she wasn’t feeling scared a little bit.

“Hey, don’t touch my friend,” Salle whined and held her brother’s hand when he wanted to place it on Annabel’s shoulder as she refused to say a word.

“Your friend?” John raised his brows before he looked down to see Annabel staring at him.

“Where’s Damien and Caleb?” He asked again. Just as if Damien was tired of the man reciting his name, he said,

“In front of you if you look properly,” John hearing him speak beneath his nose mask hissed before standing upright to face him.

“Now I’ve confirmed that you are crazy, and little touches of madness are enough to make you crazier,” he rolled his eyes as he spoke but when his eyes ran into Annabel he warmly smiled at her.

“Coming from the one who left his work behind just to push a trolley around the mall,” Damien kept his voice down, making sure it was only John and the two ladies who would hear him.

“I thought you were a bad brother who would allow his sister to be alone even with the dangers outside,” John shared and went ahead to shake hands with Damien.

“It’s not only you who loves your sister. I love mine dearly than you can imagine,” Damien replied, returning his hand to his trouser pocket and standing beside Annabel.

“Caleb didn’t come along? Where is he?” John asked, eyeing his sister who wouldn’t stop trying to speak with Damien’s sister, but the latter looked too quiet to discuss.

Speaking of Caleb, where has he been? What Damien remembered was him going away from them while on call, it’s almost an hour since he left and he isn’t back yet. Where has Caleb gone?
