Chapter 9

Dona was in her room again, the crystal ball on top of her bed as she sat down facing it. The crystal glows and Dontizu face appeared.

Dontizu: What is it again my child? Have you seen it?

Dona: Mother I need the truth.

Dontizu: (Surprise) Truth? What truth?

Dona: Someone else also knows about this same stone you sent me to fetch for you in Ampoka Palace.

Dontizu: (Shocked) What? Who is this person, tell me his or her name let me deal with them?

Dona: Does the name Tashania rings a bell to you?

Dontizu: (Speechless and surprised) Tashania is still alive? That will only means she did not die in that accident we had created (Talking to herself)

Dona: Accident? What accident are you talking about?

Dontizu: You won’t understand my……

Dona: (cutting her short) Then make me understand, I am sick and tired of all the secrets you have been keeping away from me. I am the one risking myself, putting myself in danger in this Quest of yours and yet you can’t let me in. You have to tell me everything now Dontizu, I need to know the truth.

Dontizu: There are things you must not know, things beyond your age and this is one of them. All I have to tell you is to stay away from her. Stay away from her path. Tashania is a witch, a very strong ancient witch. Stay away from her, do not fight with her, you are no match for her. I have to go, later, bye. (The glowing stops)

Dona: (Shocked) What is going on? I need to confront Tasha.

Chapter 10

Dona who had been patiently waiting for Tasha saw her coming towards her instead.

Tasha: (She smirked) With the look on your face, I hope you will obey your mother.

Dona: (Surprised but didn’t show on her face) Who are you? I mean If you are truly looking for the magical heart stone then I believe you would have seen it by now, so what are your reason for being here? There has to be a reason, a connection why you are friends with the Princess of Ampoka Kingdom and her helper together with her household.

Tasha: (Smiling) You are very smart Dona, very smart. Let say indeed apart from the stone, I have a purpose of my being here.

Dona: Which is? What are you up to Tashania?

Tasha: Well, I am here to take my revenge on this family for what they did to me in the past.

Dona: What they did to you? I don’t understand you. What revenge are you talking about?

Tasha: You see, that story the king told you, the man that got his mother pregnant is my Father automatically making me the king step sister.

Dona: (Shocked) What!? Your Father? You are related to the king.

Tasha: Yes my father, and since his mother killed my father I am here to also wipe out all her generations and later kill Dontizu and you. I have drafted out my plans.

Dona: I won’t let you get away with this. I will tell the princess what you just told me.

Tasha: (Laughing) Be my guest and you will know who the princess would believe, me or you. But don’t forget, telling the princess will also reveal why you are here, think before you act (Tasha walked away, her laughter filled the air).

Dona: You don’t scare me Tashania. (Sighs) I have to find a way to make the princess know what you and I are truly are. It is better for me to tell her the truth, but how?

Chapter 11

Princess Shaba was alone in her room when she heard a knock.

Princess Shaba: Yes, who is it?

Dona: It’s me Dona

Princess Shaba: Oh, okay come in, the door is not locked. (Dona opened the door and entered the room).

Dona: My Princess, greetings to you (Looks around Shaba room but couldn’t find Tasha) Where is Tasha?

Princess Shaba: I don’t know where she went to since morning, but she told me she will be back soon.

Dona: Okay.

Princess Shaba: I have this strange feelings that you are here to see me and not Tasha, am I right?

Dona: Yes my princess, you are right based on that fact. What I am about to say is nothing but the truth.

Princess Shaba: (Nodded her head) Okay. I am all ears.

***********

The King and Queen were discussing within themselves when Tasha ran in.

Tasha: (Stopping a few feet away from them) My King, My Queen, there is trouble.

King: Trouble? What kind of trouble are you talking of?

Tasha: It is the Princess your highness. Someone hit her.

Queen: What? That is impossible, how can someone hit my daughter when you are there?

Tasha: I wasn’t around then my Queen, I went to make use of the toilet.

King: (Turning to one of the guards) Run as fast as you can and tell Okos, our native doctor, to come here immediately that my daughter is dying. The guard took off as the king made some incantation to fasten the guard feet. He turned to Tasha ) Where is she?

Tasha: She is in her room your Highness.

Queen: What are we waiting for, let’s go to her immediately. (They all rushed and went into Shaba room. The queen started crying when she saw her daughter laying still).

King: Why is she still? (Tapping her gently) My Princess wake up. (But Shaba didn’t make a move. The guard came back and told them the native doctor has come. The king told the guard to send him in. Soon he was in the room with them)

Queen: Thank the gods that you are here.

Okos: (After making some incantation, he stops) This is strange.

King: (Confused) What is strange doctor?

Okos: The gods of Ampoka Kingdom says there is nothing wrong with her. Something must have made her go to sleep.

Tasha: Sleep? Are you sure?

Okos: (Nodded his big head) Yes sleep. A deep sleep at that.

King: Hmm, mouth of the gods how can my daughter wake up, can’t you do something?

Okos: She will wake up when it is time. Which means, you all will have to wait.

Queen: Okay, but how long would she be like this?

Okos: I don’t know the answer to that question your Highness (Packed his things) I will take my leave. The gods knows best.

King: (Reluctant but has no other option) Of course Okos (he left)

Queen: (Turning to Tasha) Tasha, look after the Princess till she wakes up from her mysterious slumber.

Tasha: (Bowing her head) Yes my Queen (The king and the queen left the room. Tasha turned back to face the sleeping Princess). Well well, things are going according to my plans. You won’t know what hit you Dona.

*********

Dona was making her way towards the forest Dontizu was. When she got there Dontizu was already waiting for her. Her wrinkled face held a smile.

Dontizu: You are quick Dona. Did you get the Magical stone?

Dona: Yes Dontizu I have it here with me.
(Dontizu became elated and was hitting the ground with her stick, dancing to a tune only she could hear. In her elation state she didn’t noticed Dona eyes).

Dontizu: You have made me proud Dona and I am going to reward you. But how did you get it?

Dona: (Smiled) it’s a long story, but first I must rest.

FLASHBACK:

Dona stare at the Princess and was lost of words.

Princess Shaba: Are you still there Dona?

Dona: (Cleared her throat) Yes I am. My Princess, what I am about to say might have me killed but I have to let it out. (Princess Shaba nodded in understanding. Dona sighs.) I was pretending all the whole time. I am not who I said I was, I am a sorceress from the old region. I came here on a quest in search of a magical stone. I was sent here by my mother to steal the stone and return it back to her. She warned me about somethings. When I came here I just wanted to find the stone and find my way out, but couldn’t because I had grew to love this Palace and it’s inhabitant. I am sorry My Princess. It wasn’t my intention to hurt any one of you because of a stone. I don’t know but I was pushed to come and open up to you.

Princess Shaba: (Silent for a few moments then sighs) I know that Dona.

Dona: (Shocked, confused and surprised) You know? How?

Princess Shaba: Yes I know the reason why you are here. I know she sent you here to take the heart-stone.

Dona: You know all these while and you didn’t tell your father or anyone that I was lying?

Princess Shaba: Hmm, don’t worry Dona, everything would soon be revealed.

Dona: (Shakes her head) The main reason why I decided to open up to you is about your Hand maid. She is a witch.

Princess Shaba: (Laughs) I also know, I might be blind but do not take me for a fool. I had knew all along.
