🍂 Liam’s POV 🍂

I ran towards where Daphne was kneeling by the dead woman

She was in tears

“Wake up, wake up please” she cried as she shook the woman

“Daphne” I called and she looked at me

“Liam, my Mom…. She’s dead” she said as she hugged me and I slowly patted her back

“She’s your Mom?” I asked

“Yes, she gave birth to me, I didn’t even get to spend much time with her” she said still crying

“It’s gonna be okay” I said as I hugged her again and she continued crying

“Give me the car key” I heard Aria say behind me and I managed to take the keys from my pocket without shaking Daphne who was still crying

Aria collected the key from me and walked towards the car

She drove the car towards us
“Get in” she said

“Let’s go Daphne” I said

“But… But my Mom” she said

“We’ll come back for her later so let’s go before the Soul Hunters return!!” Aria yelled

I helped Daphne stand up and we entered the car
Aria drove off

Daphne put her head on my shoulder as she continued crying and I patted her shoulder

I hate to see her cry

Minutes later, Aria parked in front of the house

“You guys should go in first, I’ll come in soon” Aria said as she gave the key to the house

Daphne and I went in,side the house

The house was dark and I managed to find the switch and I switched on the light

I took Daphne to the sitting room and we sat on the couch

“Hey, stop crying, I hate seeing tears on your face” I said

“But Mom…. I didn’t even get the chance to know her well but she was taken from me again” she said

“Am sorry dear” I said as I hugged her

The door opened and Aria came in

“I put some protection round the house, the Soul Hunters won’t be able to find you guys while you are here” she said

“Thanks” I said

“You should take her to the room, both of you need some rest” she said as she pointed to a room

I took Daphne to the room and laid her on the bed

I covered her with a blanket and I sat on the chair beside the bed holding her hand

“Try to forget about everything and just sleep, tomorrow is gonna be a new day and we are definitely gonna find a way to break this Curse” I said to Daphne

“Just stay with me” she said

“Trust me, I won’t ever leave your side” I said and she nodded as she closed her eyes

“Hey, Liam, Daphne, wake up” I heard a voice say as I felt someone tap me

I opened my eyes and the first person I saw was Daphne, she was still in the bed and I am seated beside her with my head on the bed still holding her hand

I sat up and saw Aria

“Good morning” I greeted

“How are you?” She asked

“Am fine” I replied

“You should wake Daphne up, it’s midmorning already, you guys should eat” she said and I nodded and she walked out of the room

“Daphne” I called as I tapped her and she opened her eyes

“Are you feeling okay?” I asked and she nodded

“Freshen up and let’s go have breakfast” I said

“Okay” I replied

I walked with Daphne to the dining room
Aria was already seated

“Good morning” Daphne greeted as we sat down to eat

“How are you feeling?” Aria asked

“Better than yesterday” she replied

“Thanks for helping us” I said

“It’s okay, actually I’ve been looking for you guys for days now but couldn’t find you, I tried a spell to find you guys yesterday and it led me there” Aria said

“Why were you looking for us?” I asked

“Well, I couldn’t sleep well, I wasn’t comfortable leaving you guys alone when I know you are in danger, I guess blood is thicker than water after all” Aria said as she continued eating

“So you’re going to help us?” Daphne asked and Aria nodded

“Thank you so much” Daphne and I asked

“So what are you planning to do next?” Aria asked

“I was thinking of visiting the Walker’s library to see if we can find any clue on how to break the Curse but am sure the Soul Hunters will easily trace us if we go there” I said

“Well I can do something about that, I can cast a spell to mask your scents” Aria said

“Really?” Daphne asked and Aria nodded “thanks” Daphne said with a smile

“Finish up your breakfast and get dressed, we’ll go soon” Aria said standing and she walked to her room

“Thanks” Daphne said

“For what?” I asked

“Everything” she replied

“It’s okay, just promise me you won’t cry again, I hate it when you cry” I said

“Okay” she said with a smile

“And just so you know, we are in this together and even everyone go away, I’ll always be by side, I won’t ever leave you, you are not alone” I said and she smiled

“Thank you so much Liam” she said as she hugged

“Now eat up and let’s go get dressed” I said and she agreed

Aria drove us to my house, the Walker’s house

We walked in while Aria stayed outside casting a spell to mask our scents

Daphne and I waited for Aria in the sitting room and soon she joined us and I took them to the Walker’s library

We split up as each of when to different sides of the shelves searching for any kind of clue

We spent hours in the library but none of us found anything that could help us break the Curse

“This pointless, there’s no clue on how to break the Curse here” Aria said

“I really thought we’ll be able to find something here” Daphne said

“Me too” I said

“If only we knew what the Curse is all about” Aria said

“We do” Daphne said

“Yeah, I was shown how it all started”

“Really?, Tell me everything, don’t leave any details out” Aria said and I nodded as I began narrating

“…… So Kal begged her not to Curse them with a Curse that can’t be broken but she looked at him pitifully and just made some incantations in native Latin then she said she’s an incarnate of goddess Hera and she use her powers to Curse us and then she killed herself” I concluded

“Do you remember the incantation she made?” Aria asked

“Yeah, I have a pretty retentive and sharp memory” I replied

“Then tell me” Aria said

“In tantum ut conteram Maledictum Maledictum promptus est sacrificium de Anima sub luna plena” I said just as I remembered

“Wait a minute, can you repeat that again?” She asked concentrating

“In tantum ut conteram Maledictum Maledictum promptus est sacrificium de Anima sub luna plena” I repeated

“Thats not an incantation, Hera did hear Kal’s plea” Aria said

“Is it away to break the Curse?” Daphne asked

“Yeah but you aren’t gonna like it” Aria said

“Tell us anyway” I said

“Those Latin words means ‘the Curse can only be broken by the sacrifice of a willing Cursed Soul under the full moon” Aria said and my jaw dropped

One of us has to die!

🍂 Daphne’s POV 🍂

“So one of us has to die” I said

“It should be me then, am happy we found a way to break the Curse” Liam said

“Are you kidding me, it has to be me” I said

“Hera didn’t specify who should die, she just said a Cursed soul and there’s no way am letting you die” Liam said

“And you think I’ll ever let you die? That’s not possible Liam, this all started with the Hills and it will end with the sacrifice of the Hills”

“I don’t care how it started, I’ll be the one dying and that’s final” Liam said

“And who are you to say that!!” I yelled “I haven’t lived a good life, I don’t even know much about this world but you?, You have a life after this, you studied so you can get a job and continue living, trust me Liam under no circ-mstances will I allow you to die”

“And you think I’ll just stand idle and watch you die? That’s not possible, don’t you understand? Everyone has a part to play, you saved me from the Soul Hunters back in the burnt house and in the grassland yesterday and this time, I can’t let you be the one to save me again, this time I’ll do saving” Liam said

“Just listen to me Liam…”

“No you listen to me!!” Liam yelled

“Enough!!!” Aria who has been silent all this while yelled “enough of all this, no one’s going to die, I won’t let it happen” she said and walked out of the library

I sighed as I sat on the nearest chair

If it’s comes to one of us dying, it has to be me

I won’t ever let Liam die, no matter what

Hours later, Aria walked down to the library

“Help me park any books related to Curses, the spell I made round the house is wearing out, we have to leave” she said and we began searching through the shelves, taking any books we think might be helpful

“Let’s go now” Aria said and we all walked out of the library holding a pile of the books

We dropped everything in the car boot

We entered the car and Aria drove off

Minutes later, Aria pulled up in front of her house

We packed the books and took it to Aria’s study

“You guys can go” Aria said and we left the study

Liam sat on the couch while I went to my room

I slumped on the bed

I hope Aria finds a way to break the Curse without anyone dieing

But if there’s no other way, it’s got to be me, I’ll be the one to die not Liam

“the Curse can only be broken by the sacrifice of a willing Cursed Soul under the full moon” I recalled what Aria said

The full moon is still days away, there’s still time, I hope Aria finds a way

🍂 Liam’s POV 🍂

I laid on the couch with my eyes closed but I wasn’t asleep

Many thoughts ran through my head

If Aria doesn’t find a way, I’ll be the one to die, I can’t ever let Daphne die, never

Hours passed away and soon it was dark

“Liam” I heard someone call and I opened my eyes to see Daphne standing beside me

“We need to talk” she said as she sat down on of the couch while I sat up

“If this is about you dieing I don’t wanna hear it” I said

“You’ll have to hear it Liam, we have to prepare for the worst in case Aria doesn’t find another way” she said

“If someone has to die it will be Daphne, I don’t care what you say, it’s gonna be me” I said

“Liam” she called slowly “Remember what you said last night? You said you promised you won’t ever leave my side, you’ve got to keep your promise Liam, you can’t die”

“That’s different, I….”

“You see Liam, those 22 years I stayed alone in the woods, I wished for death alot, my life was meaningless, I was a living corpse, it got to a point I stopped wishing for death since it was quite obvious that I wont be dying anytime soon, I started wishing for a saviour, I wished for someone to save me and you came, you heard my call and saved me from that nightmare, I don’t have anyone else but you in this world again and I won’t ever let you die so please, let me be the one to save you this time. Unlike me, you have a life after this and I can’t let you give it up for me. You’ve suffered alot too Liam and you’ve made the most sacrifices and I can’t let you make this sacrifice too, it has to be me”

“But I can’t let you die, I’ve gotten to love you Daphne, I won’t be able to live without you” I said trying to keep the tears from falling

“It’s nice to know someone will miss me if I die” she said with a smile “Remember Charlie?” She asked

“Of course, I can’t ever forget him”

“He died for you Liam, he died for you to live, so you have to live, his sacrifice can’t go down the drain, he can’t die for nothing, even if not for me you’ll have to live for his sake” she said

“Stop it Daphne, just stop it” I said

“You know am right, I’ve got to be the one to die, a Hills started the Curse and a Hills will end it”

“Aria will find another way” I said

“But if she doesn’t, I’ll be the one to die”

“But…”

“There’s no ‘but’ Liam, it’s already decided” she said as stood up and walked off to her room

I sighed as I held my head

My head is throbbing

I slowly opened my eyes and looked around, it’s morning already

I don’t even know when I fell asleep and I actually slept overnight in the couch

I stood up and went to the room I kept my clothes

I showered and wore a t-shirt and shorts

I came out of the room and met Aria and Daphne seated in the dining

“Let’s eat” Aria said and I sat down

We started eating though no one ate much

“Ummm… Aria” Daphne called “What about my mom’s corpse?” She asked

“I org-nized some men to bury the corpse this morning” Aria replied and Daphne nodded

We were done eating and Aria went off to her study

Daphne and I packed the dishes though no one said a word

Daphne went back to her room while I went to mine

I sat on the bed as I continued thinking about everything

Oh God please help us find away without anyone dying

Days passed and things were always quiet in the house

I rarely see Aria nowadays, she’s always in the study except for mornings when she comes out for breakfast

Daphne and I hasn’t been talking too, there’s nothing to talk about when she has made up her mind to die even when am totally against it

I showered and wore some clothes

I came out of the room and met Daphne seated on the couch in the sitting room

I thought I’ll meet Aria here as usual but it’s almost noon she didn’t come for breakfast

“Where’s Aria?” I asked Daphne

“I haven’t seen her since yesterday morning” Daphne said

“Did you check her study?” I asked as she shook her head

“Oh I didn’t” she said and we both walked towards Aria’s study

I opened the door and we walked in

“Aria!!” Daphne called as we both ran towards where she is

She was laying unconscious on the floor

“Get me water” I said to Daphne and she ran out of the study to get it

Moments later, she was back with a cup of water

I collected the cup and sprinkled the water on Aria

“Please wake up” I said as I continued sprinkling water on her

She moved her hands and slowly opened her eyes
Daphne and I sighed in relief

We helped her sit on the chair

“What’s wrong why did you suddenly collapse?” I asked

“It’s nothing, I’ve just been dehydrated” she said

“And stressed out, you’ve been stressing yourself too much for us” Daphne said

“Have you been able to find something?” I asked and she slowly shook her head

“No matter how hærd I try and look for a way to break the Curse, I find none, Hera sacrificed her Soul for the Curse and only another sacrifice can break it just like Hera had said, am sorry I wasn’t able to find another way” Aria said

“It’s fault Aria, you’ve tried your best” I said

“I guess this is it, I’ll be the one to die” Daphne said as she sniffed

“Daphne…”

“Please Liam, please let’s not argue about this again, it’s already decided so it’s either we continue arguing about this or we spend my last 10 days before the full moon happily, it’s your choice” Daphne said

“Daphne, am sorry I couldn’t help” Aria said as she hugged her

A tear rolled down my face and I quickly cleaned it
