Chapter 33&34: I STILL LOVE HIM.

My phone rang and I went to pick it from the small stool beside the lamp stand.

It was dad calling.

📞 Hello, Papa. ”

📞 Hello, sweetheart. It’s been a long time, how have you been? ” He asked.

📞 Very well, what about you?” He asked back.

📞 Good too. How about Draco, I hope you’re… getting along with him? At least a chat? ”

📞 Well, can’t completely say a yes to that. He’s been busy lately and we barely see each other. But don’t worry, I’m cool. ”

📞 I’m glad to hear that. So, I called to tell you that my company has been queried for a case. ”

📞 A case?”

📞 Yes, it’s been two months now and… it’s not settling at all. I have contacted my manager and lawyer but, they said the only way I can get this resolved with is to come over.

But I can’t, especially now the trip is getting tougher. So, I need your help. Look, I know this will affect affect both you and your business but… if I don’t get this settled with, the government are likely to shut my company down. ”

📞 What of the other company?” I asked. ” Does it have a case too? ”

📞 Not at all.”

📞 I will see what I can do about quitting the job. Give me tomorrow, I’ll give you a feedback. What do you think? ”

📞 That will be fine. I’ll wait until then. ”

📞 How long will it take to resolve the case?”

📞 I think a week or more, it depends how serious the case is. But, since it’s been two months for my manager to handle it, then I guess it’s gonna take more than a week. ”

📞 She exhaled. “Does that mean I have to go home?”

📞 Yeah, sure, of course. ”

📞 Well, like I said, I’ll give you a feedback by tomorrow evening. We’ll know what we can do about the case. ”

📞 That’s my girl. Do take care of yourself for me. ”

📞 I will. You too. Bye.”

📞 Bye. ”

I sighed again.

I have to call Ruthie.

I dialed her number, and she picked up after the second ring. 📞 ” Hello, Nat.”

📞 ” Hey, Ruthie. Can we meet at the coffee shop tonight?”

📞 Yeah, sure. Is there a problem?”

📞 No. But I’ll explain when we get there.”

📞 Okay. If you say so. ”

📞 Thanks.

~ AT THE COFFEE SHOP ::::: 7:25 Pm.

” So, you said you want to talk to me about some thing, what is it? ”

” It’s my father. ”

” Did some thing bad happened to him? ” She asked, concerned.

” No, it’s just… I don’t know how to explain it but uhmm.. it’s his company. It’s under a case and uhmm… they need him back.

But like I once told you, he’s at Russia and it’s… totally impossible for him to return back to the state so he needs my help. ”

” So… ” urging her to continue.

” I’ll be leaving back home maybe in two days time. But first, I will have to speak with Mr Thompson and whatever decision he makes, I guess I’ll go with it. ”

” What if he refuses to let you go? You know, you’re one of his best writer. He’s gonna feel bad, and so will I. ” She said hurt.

” I feel bad too but what can I do? If I don’t go, the government will shut down his company and that will be a great lose to us, especially to him. ”

” I understand. W… ” She sniffed. ” Will you come back? ”

” I guess so. ” I chuckled. ” I don’t even know when the case will be over but I hope I will surely come back. ”

” Please do, even if it isn’t for your so-called cousin, do it for me. ”

I forced a smile. I know this has always been my dream to leave that hell shit mansion… It’s really complicated to say I don’t think I want to anymore.

Yeah, you can say I’m such an assh-le but that’s just cool with me.

I love Draco Luciano even though he might be a pain in the ass, I still admire him so much.

But what can I say? It’s Dad and of all, it’s his company. It has to be protected at all cost.

” I will.”

I drove back home, hoping for how tomorrow will go. I know Mr Thompson quite well, he won’t have to say no to this.

And even if he did say no, I’ll have no other choice but to quit myself.

I parked my car at the parking lot, taking a deep breath. I stepped out of my car, trailing to the mansion.

” Hey, Nat.” Tony called from a corner.

” Hey, T. What are you doing there?”

” Got some things to check on, ” he said, pointing to the back. ” but it’s okay. What about you, had a date? ” He teased.

” With who? You? ” We laughed. ” Honestly, I went to meet with a friend. ”

” A girl or a boy? Male or female? ”

” A girl. Female too. ” He laughed.

” So, what’s she like? ” I rose my eyes at him. ” It’s not what you’re thinking. ”

” I know. Maybe one of these days, I’ll introduce her to you. What do you think? ”

” You’re joking, aren’t you? ”

” I’m serious. By the way, I’ll be leaving back home in two days. ”

” Wait, why? ”

” It’s a long story. I have to go or things get worster than it should. ”

” So, it’s a gone gone? ”

” I don’t know how long it will take but… I think it’s a gone gone for now.”

He rushed, pulling me in a hug.” I’m gonna miss you, you know. Even if the boss doesn’t, I will. ”

I chuckled. ” Who said there’s something going on with the boss and I?”

” I’m not a kid, Nat, and I’ve got eyes too. ”

I broke the hug. ” I’ll make it up to you tomorrow night. I promise. ”

He nods his head. ” I’ll be waiting. ”

The next day, I went to the office. The secretary just told me Mr Thompson was out fifteen minutes ago and will likely be back by 4 tonight.

I’ve got today to enjoy Ruthie’s company. She barely noticed me and I don’t blame her, I know it hurts to miss a friend.

It took hours before she could finally talk to me. ” So, today is the last day we’d be seeing, right?”

” I guess so. Look, Ruth, I already told you, we’ll meet anyhow, any day. ”

” But it’s gonna take a while to see you again. ”

” I know… ” rolled my eyes. “That’s the problem. ”

” Just take good care of yourself for me when you get there. ”

” I will. ”

Later in the night, I knew it was time I have to tell Draco about my leave.

I went to the second dinning room where he normally stays lately.

I offered a knock on the door, ” Come in.” He permitted.

I walked in, shutting the door after me. He was staring at a book before him, with his big Cigar in his mouth.

He took it out from his mouth, puffing out the huge smokes in from his mouth.

” What is it?” He asked.

” I… I uhmm… I just wanna say thank you for every thing you’ve done for me. Especially the fact of letting me live under your roof, I really do appreciate it.

I… will be leaving back home tomorrow for some important reasons and… it’s gonna take too long to settle it. So, I thought it was needful for you to know about it.”

He nods his head. ” It’s okay. I understand.”

I left the room, again shutting the door after me. It doesn’t matter if he misses me or not, it’s totally fine if he doesn’t actually.

I know it’s just me and myself fu*king dying for him by my side.

Tony with some maids helped take my packed luggages to the car so I won’t have to bother myself getting them ready by tomorrow morning.

I was beginning to miss him and Ruthie the most, they were the only ones there for me.

Though, Tony had been a lot busy with Draco but, he’s still good for a friend.

I laid on my bed, trying dad’s number for the nth time. And for the first time since I know dad, he never delays my call.

He finally did and I was like… pissed off already. 📞 What took you so long?”

📞 Sorry, babe. I was having my shower when you called.” He explained.

📞 I calmed down. ” Fine. I’ve talked with Mr Thompson, he accepts I should go.”

📞 Did he say anything else?”

📞 Like?”

📞” You returning to your work?”

📞” No. We aren’t sure yet how long this case is gonna last, so we can’t promise everything will settle with time.

Once it’s more than a month, then I think it’s a quit then. But if it takes a week, I’ll return back to my job. But first, let’s get things settled with.”

I was done with my makeup and I gave myself one more check before heading down and out of the building.

I remembered parking my car by the corner of the house where it would be more easier for me to get going.

But shockingly, I couldn’t find my car anywhere, not even in the garage.

I called Tony, but he said Draco had sold it off last night. ” You said what?!” I sparked.

” Calm down, Natalie, it’s not what you think. ” He tried calming me down but hell no, he can’t just sell my car off!

He said he did understand the fact that I was leaving and besides, he doesn’t give a fu*k about anything or anyone…

” You want me to calm down, huh! He sold my car off for damn sake and you still expect I calm down?! I’m going up, some one have to talk some sense to him. ”

” Natalie. ” Tony stopped me. ” Just stop it, okay. ”

” Are you gonna give me a new car in his place. And provide my luggages? Because that’s the only thing that can get me calmed down. ”

” He didn’t just sold the car off, he bought you a new one. ” Did I just hear that clearly? Or…

” You said what? ”

Pointing at a navy blue Lexus, he said. ” Your luggages have been transferred in there. Don’t worry, your previous car is in the right hands. ”

I was staring at the navy blue car. Lexus brand has always been my dream car. But Dad promised to buy me one on my birthday.

All thanks to Draco who just made it real quick. I went back in, heading to his room.

I almost offered a knock on his door but then, he opened it, looking dressed up like he was going to work or something.

” Miss Bradeson?” He said, looking surprised to see that I was still around. ” I thought… ”

I paused him with a k-ss, shutting the door with my leg. And I didn’t cared if he k-ssed me back, but his hands on my wa-ist was just enough for me.

I broke the k-ss, glaring into his crystal blue eyes. ” What was that for?” He asked, his eyes on my l-ips.

” Thank you, for the new car. ”

” You don’t have to thank me, I should be the one thanking you. You saved my life twice, and I’m grateful for that. ”

My l-ips played a smile, but I doubt it was actually a smile. No, I was fu*king blushing.

I felt like calling dad to tell him I changed my mind about going home and it would be better off finding someone else to help him out.

But I can’t. I was stucked with two difficult choices that have to do with the two very people I love.

And it’s either I leave or I stay. To help dad, or to stay by his side.

Now I’ve learnt, even the devil was once an angel.
