Chapter 120 :- The Fall (contd)

Training with Hadiza has been the only lively thing that I’ve done ever since the world was caught in the midst of Geo-storms. My cousins too who had nothing else to do or someone to torment joined in the training and together we worked on our magic skills but I was having a little bit difficult than them. Unlike my shape shifting magic which I could do with ease, Anti-magic proved to be a lot more complex than I thought. All this time I thought I had it under control and that I had achieved the mastery of Anti-magic but it seems like what I knew was just a tiny piece of it. Anti-magic has lots of potentialities that I myself didn’t know of but how could I, I’m the only one in existence and I haven’t another Anti-magic user who’s experienced enough to show me the ropes.

Luckily for me, the previous great Anti magic user was a northerner and there are ancient written texts written in arabic about the levels of Anti-magic spells he used during his lifetime. However getting access to this written documents was quite difficult cause not only was it sacred and very treasured but the guardians of this texts according to Hadiza are very strict. The journey to the library where this text is being kept is hell all on it’s own. Only very few know where it is and fortunately enough, Hadiza’s father is one of them. After pulling a few strings, Hadiza’s father was able to get her access to the book and although she wasn’t given enough time to study the whole book, she was able to grasp some powerful Anti-magic spells that I could use.
Training on this spells wasn’t easy and Hadiza pushed me to the extreme seeing how far could get in achieving greater power. Although I didn’t manage to master all the spells, I was able to excel in some which was enough to make Hadiza proud. Presently after going through a rigorous training session with Hadiza, we decided to take a break and rejuvenate for some minutes. As Hadiza left to get us some refreshments, Helen and Sara who were also present at the time laughed and mocked me about my slow progress but I was able to turn the tables on them without doing them any shege.

Helen ➡ You’ve always been a slow learner.
.

Sara ➡ That’s right. Before you get to master all those spells, we’ll be far ahead of you.
.

Riley Jr ➡ It doesn’t matter how far you both are. My magic is unique, I don’t need to break a sweat to render you both useless. Una think say I be una mate?
.

Helen ➡ You want to put that to do the test? Let’s see who stands tall.
.

Riley Jr ➡ Anti magic no be your mate. If you vex me now, I go permanently seal your magic. You dey craze. Try me make una see!
.

Helen and Sara kept quiet immediately after I said that. Helen who was trying to be more tough and bold stared at me as if she was trying to pounce on me or something. However before things could get out of hand between us, Hadiza returned with a bowl of chilled Nono and fura which she prepared and then served for us. We all drank from the same bowl on the soft desert sand and it felt nice.

Hadiza ➡ So, does anyone want more?

Riley Jr ➡ Ah.. This is okay o. My belle don full. (belches)
.

Helen ➡ Hadiza!
.

Hadiza ➡ Yes, what is it Helen?
.

Helen ➡ Is there a way, anti magic can be countered?
.

Riley Jr ➡ Wetin this one dey talk?
.

Hadiza ➡ Countered? How do you mean?
.

Helen ➡ Well, everything has it’s advantages and disadvantages right? Anti magic can’t be all that invisible.
.

Riley Jr ➡ (laughs) Dey play mumu.
.

Hadiza ➡ Actually, Anti-magic can’t be countered.
.

Riley Jr ➡ (laughs)
.

Hadiza ➡ But it has some setbacks.
.

Riley Jr ➡ What? Set-backs?
.

Hadiza ➡ Yes, one of them is two Anti-magic users can’t use it on each other. The consequences of doing that is losing each other’s magic.
.

Riley Jr ➡ Hold on… You’re saying that if I fight with another Anti-magic user with anti magic, I could lose my magic?
.

Hadiza ➡ Theoretically, yes! That’s what I read in the ancient scriptures. Luckily, you don’t have to worry about that.
.

Riley Jr ➡ But my sister can copy any magic and makes it hers permanently.
.

Hadiza ➡ That’s true but Anti magic is a different case. Your sister may be able to copy your magic but yours is more powerful than hers and she can’t manifest it willing like you.
.

Helen ➡ So what you’re basically saying is that she can only use it once?
.

Hadiza ➡ Precisely. After all, Anti magic is the antithesis of all forms of magic. Only those born with it can wield it however they like. Which is precisely why Evlyn is afraid of Anti magic users and why you’re very essential in this fight we’re about to get in.
.

Hearing Evlyn’s name made my spine to tingle. I may not have crossed paths with her but I’ve seen what she did to Ebunoluwa and it’s not pretty at all. If my sister could lose to her, what chance in the world do I have?. After hearing what Hadiza said, Helen and Sara laughed at my face mockingly.

Helen ➡ Sorry Hadiza but junior isn’t the hero type.
.

Sara ➡ He’s lousy, uncalculated and he talks too much.
.

Riley Jr ➡ Oh please. With my anti magic, everything go cast o. Not even Evlyn will stand a chance.
.

Hadiza ➡ You’re wrong.
.

Riley Jr ➡ What?
.

Hadiza ➡ If you dispel all her magic powers, how do you stop her completely?
.

Riley Jr ➡ Does it matter?
.

Hadiza ➡ (sighs) Everyone, get back on your feet. We’re going to do a little training. Girls, Junior is going to be our target.
.

Riley Jr ➡ Wait, I’m fighting all 3 of you.
.

Hadiza ➡ Yes, it shouldn’t be hard. I’m pretty sure you know what you have to do. Are you ready?
.

Riley Jr ➡ Sure, let’s go.
.

Suddenly in that moment, Hadiza signalled my cousins and they all closed in on me pretty fast. I gasped wondering why they would come at me without me preparing so I decided to act fast. Helen and Sara had already activated their magic so I casted an anti magic spell dispelling not only their magic but Hadiza’s own as well. Just when I thought that I had won the fight, Hadiza closed in on me and attacked me with an devastating blow to my midsection that sent me flying. Immediately I landed on the ground, I clutched my stomach painfully crying in agony. My cousins laughed of course but after they saw what happened to me next, they sealed their mouths.
As I was rolling on the sands moaning with pain, Hadiza approached me and kicked the side of my ribs hard. I screamed painfully as I felt the pain but before I could even cope with the pain, Hadiza stood over me with a serious yet vicious look in her eyes. It was scary.

Hadiza ➡ Are you crying?
.

Riley Jr ➡ Why are you doing this?
.

Hadiza ➡ Teaching you a lesson.
.

Riley Jr ➡ But I didn’t do anything wrong.
.

Hadiza ➡ No but you said something very stupid. You think just because you have anti magic that everything is okay? Tell me Riley, once you dispel Evlyn’s magic, what is your next move?
.

Riley Jr ➡ I don’t know.
.

Hadiza ➡ Wrong answer!
.

In that moment, Hadiza swiftly lifted me from the ground and slammed me to the ground. I didn’t feel much pain but what came next was just brutal. After smashing me on the ground, Hadiza stomped my chest hard with her right foot. She then knelt down on top of me and asked her question again.

Hadiza ➡ Tell me Junior, what is your next move against Evlyn once you dispel her magic.
.

Riley Jr ➡ (crying) why are you doing this? Why are yiu hurting me?
.

Hadiza ➡ (scoffs) This is cruel, I know but you need to wake up. This isn’t the time for you to act like a kid. You of all people should be more cautious. Evlyn wiped out every anti magic user around the globe except you. You’re lucky not to be on her radar but that doesn’t mean you’re off the hook. Dispelling Evlyn’s magic isn’t enough, you need to be able to fight her off physically. Some witches are defenseless without magic but not Evlyn. That is why I’m training you, as long as we’re engaged, you’ll be facing threats from wizards who would seek to replace you. Anti magic isn’t enough, you need to learn how to fight.
Your parents may have raised you as a human but you’re not a human. As the only Anti magic user, you’ll always have a target on your back and you need to be prepared to face anything that comes at you.
I won’t apologize for what I did. I’m your trainer and I gave you a valuable lesson to stay on your feet. You’ve always been laid back and confident that you’re blind to see the dangers around you. Don’t you know that back in the ancient times, Anti magic users were killed and persecuted? Even now, it’s not safe for you. No witch or wizard likes the idea of walking with an entity that could erase the very nature of their existence. So I’m going to ask you again, what is your next move against Evlyn once you dispel her magic?

Riley Jr ➡ I’ll keep fighting .
.

Hadiza ➡ Good. Come, let’s go patch you up.
.

Suddenly in that moment as Hadiza helped me up back to my feet, something busted out of the clouds like a jet boosted with nitro heading straight towards us. My cousins who saw this thing heading straight to their direction, ran towards us and waited to see what would happen next. Within a matter of seconds, this thing landed a few meters away from us and the impact of it’s landing created a big gust of dust which then disappeared instantly.
As soon as the dust was gone, we all gasped as we saw the thing that landed and it was a demon. Not only did it have wings but it also 8 feet tall and it’s physiology and features was terrifying. At first, the demon stares at us with it’s snake like eyes but after some seconds, it began to approach us. Hadiza who thought it was going to attack brought out her whip but then she hesitated as soon as the demon spoke.

Dark Rotimi ➡ Stop, it’s me.
.

Hadiza ➡ Sorry demon, we don’t know you.
.

Riley Jr ➡ Tell us who you are.
.

Dark Rotimi ➡ It’s me. Rotimi.
.

Riley Jr ➡ ROTIMI!? NO WAY.
.

Hadiza ➡ Prove it.
.

Rotimi ➡ Look, there isn’t much time. Ebunoluwa is in trouble. We need to warn your parents Junior.
.

Riley Jr ➡ I don’t buy it.
.

Helen ➡ He’s telling the truth.
.

Riley Jr ➡ You believe him?
.

Helen ➡ I read his mind… You fought Evlyn?
.

We all stared at Rotimi after Helen said that. I didn’t believe her until I tapped into Rotimi’s mind myself and saw everything. I was stunned by the fact that he stood toe to toe with Evlyn and came out on top. Ever since Ebunoluwa introduced Rotimi, I never respected the but after learning what he went through, I had no choice but to off cap of the guy.

Hadiza ➡ This is unbelievable. You beat Evlyn?
.

Rotimi ➡ I wouldn’t say beat. I just bought us some time. She’s coming.
.

Riley Jr ➡ Coming where?
.

Rotimi ➡ There is no time. We have to warn everyone. Evlyn is on the move. We need to act now.
.

After making that alarming statement, Rotimi suddenly took off flying with blinding speed straight into the sky. He was so fast that it only took seconds for him to disappear out of our sight range and as soon as he was gone, my cousins and I decided to vamoose as well.
.

Helen ➡ Where is he heading to?
.

Riley Jr ➡ Who knows? We need to go.
.

Hadiza ➡ Hold it. You kids are my responsibility and you’re not going anywhere without me.
.

Riley Jr ➡ But there isn’t much time. You heard Rotimi we have to warn everyone.
.

Hadiza ➡ I won’t take long. Stay put and let me go get ready. (leaves)
.

Helen ➡ Are we seriously going to wait for her?
.

Riley Jr ➡ We have to. Let’s just hope that we’ll make it in time.
.

Sara ➡ Don’t bother, I’ve already alerted mom through the shadows.
.

Helen ➡ Did she reply?
.

Sara ➡ Yes.. She said we shouldn’t come home yet but there’s more, it seems like this is worst than we thought.

Riley Jr ➡ What is going on?

Despite acting secretive and keeping Rose at bay whilst investigating her, the council had no idea that she was already aware of their moves. Unknown to the council, Rose had spies everywhere and not just the shadows but also amongst witches and wizards as well. Her reputation had not only made her popular but also a symbol of fear and respect that had greatly overshadowed that of the supreme witch and the council.
Presently here inside the comfort of her home, Rose shits alone on the dinning table enjoying a meal of roasted liver, heart and intestines. Despite having honey and milk to feed on, Rose wanted to satisfy her hunger with some of the finest human delicacies. In that moment as Rose was enjoying her meal, some of the council enforcers suddenly appear out of the shadows standing behind her. Despite sensing the presence of her unexpected guests , Rose kept eating her meal delicately for some seconds before turning her attention towards them.

Rose ➡ Talk!
.

Enforcer 1 ➡ Your niece.. She’s in trouble.
.

Enforcer 2 ➡ Orisaye and the council were informed that she’s an infinite witch just like Evlyn.
.

Rose ➡ Who’s the rat that squealed into their ears?
.

Enforcers ➡ (silent)
.

Rose ➡ Are you all deaf? I SAID WHO’S THE RAT?
.

Enforcer 3 ➡ Iyunloye.
.

Rose’s eye widens with shock as she hears Iyunloye’s name come out of the enforcers mouth. Filled with rage, Rose suddenly wrecks her dining table to pieces and then face the enforcers who had fear written all over their faces.

Rose ➡ Anything else I should know about?
.

Enforcer 1 ➡ The supreme witch wants us to bring you in. She was told that you were cahooting with Evlyn.
.

Rose ➡ (chuckles) Me! In cahoots with Evlyn? I’d rather die. Anything else?
.

Enforcers ➡ (silent)
.

Rose ➡ You may all go.
.

Enforcer 1 ➡ But we have orders to bring you in..
.

Rose ➡ I’m sorry, what was that?
.

Enforcer 2 ➡ We’re sorry but we have to carry out orders or not come back at all.
.

Rose ➡ Then I’m afraid, you won’t be going back at all.
.

Suddenly within a blink of an eye, Rose manipulates the shadows around her conjuring up giant spike which appeared and tried to impale the enforcers. Instead of running for their lives, the enforcers tried to immobilize and contain Rose but they were no match for her.
Feeling insulted by the audacity of the enforcers who made a move on her, Rose instantly covers the entire house with her shadow magic. The enforcers who were trying to unleash their magic become paralyzed with fear as they saw the situation they were in. Then all of sudden, as the enforcers were trying to find Rose, something grabs hold of their feet pulling them into shadows. In that moment as the enforcers look down, they saw thousands of hands holding onto them tightly. Despite their efforts to break free, the enforcers couldn’t get away from the hands forcefully pulling them down and just as they were about to sink in completely, Rose emerges from the shadows staring down at them.

Enforcer 2 ➡ Please have mercy. We were just doing our job.
.

Rose ➡ That is precisely why you’re going to die. Besides, I don’t give mercy to traitors. My pets down their will take care of you. Be sure to please them.
.

After that statement, Rose watches as the enforcers were swallowed into the shadows completely and after that, she dispels the shadow in the room returning everything to normal. In that moment, Lionel walks into the house and stares at his wife and the damage she had done. Despite seeing Lionel, Rose ignores him and sits on the couch placing her hand on her small baby bump.

Lionel ➡ For goodness sake, what happened here?..
.

Rose ➡ Some fools vexed me and I killed them. Is there a problem?
.

Lionel ➡ No.. I’m just surprised that you didn’t spill any blood as usual. How are you feeling?
.

Rose ➡ Very angry.
.

Lionel ➡ You’ve been angry lately. Where are the twins?
.

Rose ➡ How should I know?
.

Lionel ➡ Ah.. Kí ló dè?
.

After taking a long breath, Lionel walks over to his wife and then kneels in front of her kissing her baby bump after which he begins to massage her toes gently. Feeling good and relaxed, Rose sighs with relief as her foot gets massaged by Lionel.

Lionel ➡ Feeling better now?
.

Rose ➡ A little bit. Thanks.
.

Lionel ➡ You’re welcome. You should learn to keep your emotions in check. You’re pregnant after all.
.

Rose ➡ I’m afraid that won’t be possible.
.

Lionel ➡ Why?
.

Rose ➡ Your niece. She’s in trouble. The council is out to get me. Nobody is safe.
.

Lionel ➡ What’s going on?
.

Rose ➡ I don’t have much time to explain. You have to get someplace safe.
.

Lionel ➡ What about the kids?
.

Rose ➡ Don’t worry, they’re in good hands. I need to get to the council.
.

Lionel ➡ I won’t let you go.
.

Rose ➡ Excuse me?
.

Lionel ➡ You’re not in any condition to fight or act tough. We have a baby on the way and you need to rest.
.

Rose ➡ Honey, I’m not some weak human female. I’m a witch and I can take care of myself. I appreciate your concern but it’s you who needs to be careful.

Lionel ➡ This is reckless.
.

Rose ➡ I don’t care. I’m going to do council and I dare you to stop me.
.

Lionel ➡ I’ve lost a wife and a child before. I can’t afford to lose you.
.

Rose ➡ (sighs) Lio, I’ll be fine. Now stop making me feel soft with your words. I don’t want to feel that right now cause I’m about to do something very brutal and interesting.

Lionel ➡ And what’s that?.
.

Rose ➡ Kill a rat!
