Chapter 122 :- Fall of the Council, enemies at the gate (contd)

As Rose’s statement echoed through out the council chamber, everyone became tensed and intimidated by the tone in her voice. They were even more intimidated by the presence of her shadow minions who had surrounded and swarmed the council chamber. Despite being out numbered, one of the Council members decides to act on his own to stop Rose by casting a spell on her but before he could do so, his whole body become paralyzed thanks to one of Rose’s shadow minions who had restrained him through his shadow.
After taking control of the council chamber, Rose voices her opinion about Orisaye’s administration which she verbally destroys in front of everyone.

Rose ➡ With all due respect your Eminence, I never liked the way you sail your ship. For centuries, you’ve been in charge and all you do is try to control what is uncontrollable. At first, I use to agree with your views but now I don’t. Everything changed when my sister married a human. As much as I hated for it to happen and no matter what I did, nature and fate took it’s course. Time has made you weak your Eminence, your principles and views are a thing of the past. To make things worse, you have a council that is blind and old-fashioned. Times change and we must change with it.

Orisaye ➡ As angry as I am with you right now, I don’t blame you. Despite your maturity, you’re young. You’re just 500yrs old, you haven’t seen what I’ve seen throughout my dozens of centuries I’ve lived. We may have the power to bend life as we see fit but there are limits. There are some lives that we must never cross under any circumstances. My policies may be strict but you have to understand I’m doing it for the good of all.

Rose ➡ It doesn’t matter, not to Evlyn. She’s a witch way older than history itself and she’s wrecking the modern world. Haven’t you seen how shaken up the world is? The humans think it’s the end of the world. She’s an anomaly of the century and she’s the very error your principles seek to reject. Evlyn wants to conquer the world and she’s prepared to do anything to achieve that. We also have to stop her by any means necessary.

Orisaye ➡ What you’re suggesting will leave a mark on the world unlike which it has never seen. Lives will be lost.
.

Rose ➡ Human lives but who cares? They’re overpopulated anyways so it’s time their numbers reduce. After all, there’s no success without sacrifice. Evlyn won’t play fair if she brings the fight to us, we have to do the same as well. Fighting fire with fire is our only option.

Ebunoluwa ➡ I’m afraid that won’t work.
.

Immediately I said that, all eyes turned on me. Everywhere was quiet for a while before the Supreme witch asked me why I said that after which I immediately replied her.
.

Orisaye ➡ Why do you say so?
.

Ebunoluwa ➡ Because I’ve fought her. I stood toe to toe with her and I’ve seen what she do. As you all know she steals magic but that’s not all. She absorbs magic as well, so fighting her with magic is pointless.
.

Orisaye ➡ So how do we stop her if magic doesn’t work on her? Are you saying she’s unstoppable?
.

Ebunoluwa ➡ No, there is a way. It’s our hope against Evlyn.
.

WC 1 ➡ With all due respect your Eminence, how can we trust Rose and her niece? Their family’s kept so many secrets for years and who’s to say they’re telling the truth?
.

Despite being pissed by the question asked by the council member, Ebunoluwa calms herself to answer his question but before she could do that, something unexpected occurred . Suddenly in that moment, an explosion went off right in the middle of the council hall blowing it’s roof to pieces and shortly after that explosion emerged a huge black flame which instantly took the form of Evlyn’s face. Everyone gasped as they saw the face of the ancient witch, she looked pissed and was smiling viciously at the same time.

Evlyn ➡ Hello my fellow witches, I’m sure most of you know who I am. I’m here to break and destroy the weak chain that hinders you all from fulfilling your true potential. I’m not going to force you to join me but no this, this is a hostile takeover and whoever tries to stand in my way will be crushed. That I promise you all.

Orisaye ➡ EVLYN, you will regret coming here. Your presence is not welcomed and if you try to show force, you will meet you end. You may be powerful but you’re outnumbered.
.

Evlyn ➡ (laughs) Foolish Child, who says I’m alone.
.

Shortly after Evlyn’s statement, her flames exploded and dispersed all over the council shattering it to pieces and before long, the flames began to collapse. The impact of the explosion didn’t just only destroy the council hall but it’s shockwave scattered everyone in the council hall like nylon wastes in a wind. Despite being hit in her arm by one of the dispersed flames, Rose managed to avoid being blown away. As for Ebunoluwa she wasn’t so lucky like her aunt cause she too just like the rest was sent flying like everyone else but had it not been the chains of the Trinity Seal and Sihir curse around her wrists and ankle, she might have saved herself.
Meanwhile seeing that she was about to fall and crash somewhere in the premises of the council hall, Ebunoluwa tries to teleport herself but before she could do that, Rotimi appears out of nowhere and swoops her off in mid-air. As soon as they landed on the ground safely, Ebunoluwa was surprised to her boyfriend’s appearance.

Ebunoluwa ➡ Rotimi..
.

Rotimi ➡ I’m sorry babe but I had no choice.
.

Ebunoluwa ➡ Well, it’s not that bad since you’re in control. Evlyn is here.
.

Rotimi ➡ I know but she’s not alone.
.

Ebunoluwa ➡ How many did she bring along with her?
.

Rotimi didn’t have to tell Ebunoluwa cause shortly after she asked, she saw what her boyfriend was talking about. Here before her very eyes, Ebunoluwa watches as the skies darkens amd before long, the whole Witches Realm was shadowed by winged monsters that looked like bats. The winged monsters came in thousands and their hollowing voices echoed the atmosphere as they descended straight towards council grounds. However, before the cursed creatures could reach the council grounds, a powerful burst light shoots up in the sky scattering them all. The light was so bright that some of the winged creatures instantly lost their sight. Meanwhile here amidst the ruined council hall, Orisaye stand firm looking enraged and furious. Thanks to the explosion caused by Evlyn, not only had she injured herself but her garments had also torn in several places. After realizing that she was the only alive besides her council members, the Supreme witch finally lost her composure and swore to avenge their fallen officials by taking the fight to Evlyn.
Shortly after unleashing her powerful spell at Evlyn’s winged monsters, Orisaye then casts another powerful spell in the form of a large star which unleashed bright sparks of light that was so bright that it incinerated half of Evlyn’s winged monsters, even Rotimi and Rose were affected by the burning light considering that their powers was an antithesis of the Supreme witch’s light magic. The whole Realm shone bright with Orisaye’s magic that some thought, the star had fallen from sky but despite all of that, the fight was just beginning.

Rotimi ➡ (roaring painfully)
.

Ebunoluwa ➡ Rotimi, hang in there.
.

Rotimi ➡ I don’t think I can hold out any longer.. The pain is unbearable.
.

Ebunoluwa ➡ Break my chains so I can get you out of here.
.

Rotimi ➡ Okay..
.

Suddenly just as Rotimi was about to break the chains off Ebunoluwa, a black portal opens appears out of nowhere in that moment, Azrel emerges out of the air and pushes her in it. Rotimi tried to prevent what had happened but it was already too late. Enraged by what had happened, Rotimi roars angrily but before he could go berserk, he picks Ebunoluwa’s scent coming from Evlyn’s location which was being shielded by her winged monsters. Despite being hurt and in pain, Rotimi swoops up in the air and flies straight towards Evlyn.
Meanwhile, shortly after the council had been destroyed by Evlyn, some of the the witches and wizards that had survived escaped and teleported to warn others of the threat that had invaded them. Before long, the news of Evlyn’s invasion spread like wild fire and seeing that the Supreme witches was making her move, everyone decided to stay out of it, well almost. Presently, Robin who had heard about Evlyn’s invasion decided to get involved especially after hearing Ebunoluwa was involved as well but his mother Segilola wouldn’t allow it.

Segilola ➡ Where do you think you’re going?
.

Robin ➡ I’m sure you know what’s going on. Ebunoluwa might need my help.
.

Segilola ➡ (laughs) Your help? Oh please. Everyone knows she’s an infinite witch like Evlyn and what can you possibly do? You’re out of your league son, this is an elephant’s fight and you will get crushed like an ant.
.

Robin ➡ Maybe but I’m not going to sit down and do nothing.
.

Segilola ➡ I forbid you to go. Don’t you dare step out of this house. Everyone else is staying out of this fight because Evlyn promised to kill anyone who opposes her and with your magic you don’t stand a chance against her.
.

Robin ➡ That also won’t stop me from trying.
.

Segilola ➡ I said STOP!!!
.

Feeling furious about her son’s stubbornness, Segilola tries to restrain him but then she hesitates as she senses the presence of her husband, Ayinde who had suddenly appeared behind her.

Segilola ➡ My lord!

Ayinde ➡ Our son is not a kid any more. He’s an adult and he’s sensible enough to make his own choices.

Segilola ➡ But my lord…

Ayinde ➡ Have I given you permission to speak?

Segilola ➡ No my lord.
.

Ayinde ➡ Robin…
.

Robin ➡ Yes baba..
.

Ayinbe ➡ I understand you’re concerned for your friend but trust me when I tell you, now is not the time.

Robin ➡ But father..
.

Ayinde ➡ Silence! I’m not done talking. If you step out of this door, you will not leave to see the next day.

Robin ➡ What?
.

Ayinde ➡ Your friends will not win this fight, not today. If you leave, you will die in vain but I’m not going to force you to leave.
.

Feeling frustrated by what his father had said, Rotimi was caught in a bind. He knew his father meant every word he said cause he had never lied to him to him before plus his father could see this future. However, despite what his father said Robin was still intent on acting on his own and just as he was about to decide that, Lola and her mom instantly appeared into the place.

Segilola ➡ Omnira!
.

Omnira ➡ Segilola! We’re doomed. The council hall has been destroyed.
.

Segilola ➡ We know. The Supreme witch will handle the situation.
.

Robin ➡ She can’t.
.

Lola ➡ What?
.

Robin ➡ Stop acting like you haven’t seen the might of Evlyn. The Supreme Witch doesn’t stand a chance.
.

Omnira ➡ Shut your mouth brat! What do you know? Have you seen the Supreme witch’s power?
.

Robin ➡ It’s doesn’t matter how powerful she is. It’s only a matter of time before she falls. I’m going out.
.

Lola ➡ (grabs Robin) Are you mad? Stay out of this fight. Trust me, it’s not worth losing your life.
.

Robin ➡ What makes you say that?
.

In that moment, Robin got the answer he needed as he a powerful roar in the air. The roar was so loud that Evlyn’s winged monsters screeched out in pain until they all died in mid air and began to fall to the ground like rain. Shortly after the roar had stopped, a powerful gush of wind suddenly appeared and swept through the Witches Realm demolishing some houses on it’s path. Half of Robin’s family house also got blown off along with some of their properties.
After the wind had died down, Robin emerged from the rubble of his parent’s house staring at something strange occurring in that moment. Orisaye’s powerful light beam that had shone the almost of the Witches Realm suddenly began to fade until it gradually went off, the skies once again was soon covered in darkness but time around it wasn’t Evlyn’s winged monsters, it was something entirely, something more terrifying than the winged monsters. As Robin stared with shock at the sky, Lola soon joined him and began to see what was going on. Neither of them said anything as they saw the terrifying being which had casted a dark shadow over their nation.

Robin ➡ What in the hell is that?
.

Although it was a rhetorical question, Robin was soon answered by strangers who suddenly appeared in that moment. Robin and Lola who were startled by the voices behind them were astonished by the appearance of the wizard and witch. The wizard who answered Robin crotched a bit supporting his frame with a long staff and although he was covered in an old cloak, the wizard’s wrinkled wrist was tell to realize he’s old. As for witch behind him, she was young and lovely. Despite wearing a cloak, her firm yet stunning physique showed on her garment and besides her physique, she was also alluring. However despite her looks, the witch’s face looked somewhat intimidating due to her serious and no nonsense looks.

Ajangú ➡ That my boy is a demon’s final transformation and it’s not looking good.
.

Robin ➡ (startled) Who are you?
.

Ajangú ➡ You’ll get your answers once all of you come with us. It is not safe here.
.

Lola ➡ Oya let’s go.
.

Robin ➡ I’m not going anywhere until I know who you are.
.

Ajangú ➡ Time isn’t on our side but I will tell you this. I’m not your enemy. Whether you choose to come with me or not, that’s your choice. Now make your decision.

Sometimes being human has it’s downside moments and it’s times like this that I wish that I could become so much more. Compared to the supernatural beings who aren’t bound by limits, being human feels like a setback. It takes years for humans to reach a certain goal but to supernatural beings, it just happens in a blink of an eye and it sometimes makes me wonder if I’m proud to be human. I may sound ungrateful but I have my reasons. Having being taken care of by Ebunoluwa’s family over the years is a deed I could never ever repay but although I wanted to, I didn’t know how. These people aren’t humans, except maybe for Ebunoluwa’s uncle and dad whose now less of a human, the rest all have magic at their disposal. I truly want to repay them but what I might try to do for them, it would seem like a wasted effort.
Presently, here I was in my bedroom thinking over the loud conversations that went on moments ago between my foster parents, uncle and what I believe is Rotimi whom they were conversing with even though I didn’t hear his voice at all. Evlyn’s plans may have been delayed but that doesn’t mean she wouldn’t find another means to finish her devious schemes and with Ebunoluwa being apprehended by the council is, things just got a little bit worse. After my foster parents left the house leaving my foster uncle who was unaware that I was around, I decided to consult Solomon to see if there was anyway I could help but the answer wasn’t pleasing at all.

Morenike ➡ Solomon, Solomon.
.

Solomon ➡ What is it, human?
.

Morenike ➡ I need your help. The council has found out about Ebunoluwa and she has been apprehended. Is there any way I can at least try to help her out?

Solomon ➡ (laughs)

Morenike ➡ What’s funny?.
.

Solomon ➡ Tell me girl, what gave you the notion that you ever help Ebunoluwa. The problem with you humans is that you don’t know your place. Face it girl, in the council’s eye you’re no different than an ant.

Morenike ➡ This was a mistake. I shouldn’t have even asked you.
.

Solomon ➡ It’s the truth. Do yourself a favour and stay out of this. What good will your help be if you get killed?
.

Morenike ➡ Just get out of sight. You’re so full of negativity.
.

In that moment, Solomon disappeared leaving me to deal with his snide yet truthful statement. It would have been better if he had sugar coated his words but then again, he’s a demon. After Solomon left, I laid on my bed staring at the ceiling aimlessly hoping that everything would be alright, I hated feeling useless and even though it’s not my fault, it would be nice to help out even though it’s just once.
As the minutes passed by, I began to feel bored and miserable. It would have been nice for me to take a walk but with Ibadan under zero cold temperature, that wasn’t possible. Seeing that there was nothing for me to do, I decided to go downstairs and get something to eat but just as I was about to leave my room, Junior, his cousins and Hadiza suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

Morenike ➡ (startled) Jesus Christ!! Junior!
.

Riley Jr ➡ Sorry jor, ah! Er.. Are my parents around?
.

Morenike ➡ No only your uncle. He’s downstairs.
.

Helen ➡ Sara, let’s go. (teleports)

Hadiza ➡ Morenike, Ebunoluwa is in trouble. Rotimi told us.
.

Morenike ➡ I know, Our parents already know about it. So what are you guys up to?
.

Riley Jr ➡ Well, we wanted to inform mom and dad and since they know, we’ll just go to the witches Realm.
.

Morenike ➡ I’m coming with you.
.

Riley Jr ➡ No way. It’s dangerous for you.
.

Morenike ➡ You too as well. See this boy o.
.

In that moment before we could starting arguing, Helen and Sara’s father walked in on us and made gestures for us to keep quiet. At first we didn’t understand but eventually we did.

Riley Jr ➡ Uncle, what is going on?
.

Lionel ➡ There is someone outside.
.

Morenike ➡ Who is it?
.

Lionel ➡ I don’t know but she’s a witch.
.

Riley Jr ➡ How did you know?
.

Sara ➡ Because I informed him. I sensed her presence, it was faint but I sensed it. There’s more.
.

Hadiza ➡ More what?
.

Sara ➡ Well, how can I say this? She’s neither dead or alive.
.

Morenike ➡ I’ve got to see this. Which direction is she at outside.
.

Sara ➡ She’s… Hold on.

Lionel ➡ What is it?
.

Sara ➡ She’s moving. She’s trying to make her way into the house.
.

Morenike ➡ It’s pointless. She can’t come in. Only family members and friends are allowed….

Suddenly before I could finish my statement, the strange witch outside the let out a scream calling my foster mom’s name. Her voice was a bit croaked but there was this intense desire in it. As all of us wondered what was going on, Solomon appeared and made a very alarming revelation.

Solomon ➡ This is bad.
.

Morenike ➡ Solomon, what’s going on?
.

Solomon ➡ Keep your eyes on that witch outside and whatever you don’t let her in here.
.

Morenike ➡ You know her? Who is she?
.

Solomon ➡ A ghost from the past. A witch who’s shape shifting abilities is unparalleled.
.

Riley Jr ➡ I feel insulted.
.

Morenike ➡ Does she have a name?
.

Solomon ➡ Monife.
.

Morenike ➡ Is she dangerous?
.

Solomon ➡ She’s an obsessive psychopath who nearly killed Riley and she’s madly in love with Christen. If she’s here that means Evlyn is trying to play mind games.

Riley Jr ➡ I don’t care who she is. It’s 4 against one. Mind games or not, na wotowoto she go collect.
