CHAPTER 45….. 🌞
Mira thought and pondered on what she had heard them saying.
‘everything is falling apart’
“Not only are we losing money……”
“But we are also losing workers..”
The words she heard a few minutes ago kept ringing in her ear. Even though she didn’t understand most of it, she could tell that it was something serious and it was affecting the company.
“I wish there was something I could do about it” mira thought. After all these people had help her a lot and she wish she could repay them back.
But how??..
After much thinking, she retired to sleep. That was a thought for another day.
Remembering that Anna had told her to be early and come outside by exactly sharp 7am, she Sets her alarm for 5:45am .

Jerking herself up forcefully from sleep, she looked around her room trying to adjust her vision in the dark. She search around the room for her bed lamp. Finally turning it on, she realized she was still in her room. She yawned wanting to get some sleep when she remembered that today was the D-day.
“Oh no” she exclaimed looking to her alarm. It was 6:23am already. She was so late. But she had set the time to 5:30 how come her alarm didn’t wake her? Or did it but she just didn’t hear it because of her deep sleeping?
She decided to check the time in the alarm. It was set to 6:30am..
“What’s going on here? This isn’t the time I set it too” Mira wondered how the time wasn’t what she had set unless….
Someone must have entered her room while she was sleeping and reset it so that she would wake up late.
“Curse my deep sleeping” if she wasn’t a deep sleeper, she would have probably caught the person but… (Sigh 😩)..
“This means I have 30minutes to get ready”, she immediately jumped down from the bed and entered the bathroom.

In less than 15minutes, Mira was done and ready . She wore something casual: a black top and sky blue jeans. She packed her hair into a pony tail and grabbed the small back pack on the bed. Opening it, she found a medium size book with a pen, tissue, a small notepad and perfume and a small but very beautiful gold wristwatch.
“Did Ezekiel really get all these stuffs for me?” Mira felt touched. She didn’t even bother to open the bag when he gave her thinking that nothing else was there. She just wanted to check how spaceful it was and how many things she could fit in it.
Opening the perfume, she sprayed a little on her self then wore her wristwatch and resettled the time then grabbed her bag to go. 6:50am…she was done on time but she won’t be having breakfast. Anyways….
But then the moment she opened the door, a pail of water dropped on her .
She shrieked, the water was very cold. She looked up to see where the pail come from. Turns out , someone had connected a bucket of water to her door handle in such a way that the moment she opens it, she was be bathed with the water.
Oh no… “I can’t go w-t” she immediately hurried in,side and changed her dress. She was thankful that her books weren’t w-t. She immediately rushed down the stairs and went outside but she was too late. She saw the driver driving away already. They left me. Mira looked at her watch .. 7:10am.
“What am I going to do now?”

After taking care of Isabella on behalf of Mira, Mabel took two maids with her and a guard and left for the market. Foodstuffs in the house were fast draining and they needed replenishing.
Ezekiel watched her from upstairs along with Lucas as Mabel left.
“That’s the last one . Everyone has left the house” Lucas informed.
“Good. Everything must be done before they come back”

MABEL was done with the shopping finally. A big truck was behind the car she took so that it could carry all the goods since they usually bought in bulk. Standing in front of the car, she checked her list, everything was bought just remaining one thing, pig meat (pork😋)… That’s was Anna’s favorite type of meat. And that was the last thing to get.
“You guys stay here. Lemme get the meat quickly” she informed the maids and the guards loading the stuffs on the truck and left to look for the meat .
After buying meat, she was heading for the car when someone pushed her down.
“Leave me alone” Mabel heard a girl voice s¢ræming.
“Make sure she doesn’t escape” she heard someone else say. She quickly got up and dusted her self. Adjusting her glasses on her face, a hand wrapped itself around her.
“Please save me” the girl s¢ræmed as she held Mabel tighter.
“Huh?” Mabel felt confused not until a huge bulky man stood in front of her holding a knife.
Fear gripped her . She looked around… The shows owners and buyers stood aside not wanting to interfere withe the matter.
“Give me the girl woman” the man yelled at Mabel. He was so gigantic and huge and Mabel cowered but she tried her best to hide the girl from the huge man.
“Why do you want to harm such a small girl?” Mabel asked trying to be Brave.
” She belongs to me… I bought her” the huge man replied. ” Now hand her over” …
Everyone surrounding them just stood looking at the scenerio like as if it was some kind of movie. No one wanted to help.
“You can’t buy a human being” Mabel said . Were they slavd traders or what?..
The man laughed. It wasn’t a good kind of laught. It was a scary one.
“Just hand her over”..
“Okay…. Let’s strike a deal. How much will it be to buy her off your hand? ” Mabel bargained.
” She’s not for sale. Give her to me” he gritted his teeth then he grabbed the girl hand. Mabel could feel the girl shivering in fear and she yelled when the man grabbed her hand and pulled her away from Mabel . He dragged forcefully.
“Noo… Pls…” The girl kept pleading. ” I don’t want to go back there.”
“Hold on” Mabel called out and the man halted.” How about I pay you triple the amount you bought her for?” Mabel immediately stated her deal. The man reasoned the deal.
“$5000 …Do you have it cash?” The man asked without looking back.
Mabel eyes w¡dened at the money. That was a 5month salary that the Lockharts were paying her and she had been saving the money for a while for her daughter but she couldn’t just watch the man take this girl . Only God knows what he is doing with her
Noo… Her conscience will never let her rest if she doesn’t do something.
“No I have cheque” Mabel swallowed hærd and with a close eye. She wrote down the amount in the cheque book, tore it and gave it to him. The girl was immediately released from his grip.
” Thank you Soo much” the girl was quite grateful. Mabel only smiled… Although she had done the right thing but… That amount was going to disrupt everything.
People started applauding Mabel. It was quite an awkward moment now, she was in the s₱0tlight for helping this girl.
She took her shawl and wrapped the girl who was partially exposed. She then took her pork meat from the seller.
” You have a big heart madam. Not everyone can do what you just did now” the man praised.
” Thank you kind sir” ….
Taking the meet and the girl, she left…

CHAPTER 46…. 🇳🇬
“thank you for helping me Kira” Mira said as soon as she entered Kira’s car . She had called Kira knowing she’s the only one that could help her. And since Kira too was attending the same university as she would, it was a win win.
“How come you couldn’t follow their car?” Kira finally asked.
” I couldn’t meet up. Was late”
” And they left without you? ”
” Yes”
..
” Why would they do that? ” It was surprising Kira that they couldn’t even inform her but rather left her.
Mira just shrugged to her question and the drive to the school was quiet.

Kira parked the car properly and they both got down to enter the secretary office.
Since Kira had already started school, she didn’t have much to do but rather wanted to collect her Id card. She bid Mira farewell as she was late for her class, thinking she knew what to do… Which unfortunately didn’t know.
“Yes. How many I help you?” The lady with big glasses said drawing her attention from her thoughts.
“Err…. Am a fresher” Mira stated since she didn’t know what else to say.
” Okay. Name please? ” She asked as her eyes went back to the computer.
“Mira levenson”
Mira stood quietly as the woman searched for her name on the system.
“Mira levenson… You were registered by the Lockharts?” The woman asked.
” Yes”
” Okay. And I believe that you must have picked out a course to study cause nothing was filled on the course” the woman stated.
” Yes , I have”
” Well go ahead and tell me”

Mabel and the young miss were heading for the car when she heard a grumbling stomach.
“You must be hungry. You poor thing. Let’s get you something to eat” Mabel offered but the young miss rejected the offer not wanting to burden her.
“Nonsense. It isn’t a bother. Come on” Mabel pulled her towards a small roadside fast food. Since not much people were there, the owner immediately served her.
“Aren’t you going to eat ma’am?” The young miss asked.
“Am not hungry” Mabel immediately replied.
She watched as the young girl devoured the food immediately. She must have been starving for her to rush the food in that manner.
Mabel waited patiently for her and once she was done, she payed the owner and told the girl to relax before they begin going.
“So what is your name young miss?” Mabel asked. She had a lot of questions for the girl but she couldn’t just ask her all at once.
“Sophie” the girl replied looking down at her laps while playing with her fingers
“What a wonderful name” Mabel complimented and Sophie smiled.
” Where was the man taking you and why?”
That was mabel biggest question but it seemed like Sophie was keen on answering it.
“You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to. Come on…I drop you home”
Mabel offered to drop the girl at her parents home provided they were within the city.
“My parents….they… disowned. In fact,they sold me to a brothel” the girl answered blandly with no Expression of sadness or any such.
But Mabel however was shocked to hear that. Slavery was a forbidden act in the whole world yet her parents sold her.
“That’s why he was coming after me. My parents were too greedy and they sold me for money and I’ve been in the brothel for a year. But …but I couldn’t handle it. That’s why I attempted escape ….and luckily found you” the girl explained in a rush and took a few deep breath.
Mabel was quite saddened for the girl even though the girl didn’t look sad at all.
She couldn’t even think of trading her daughter….she rather die.
“Now I have nowhere to go” .
“It’s okay. I’ll take you with me. I’ve been looking for a maid to work in a mansion. Do you think your cut out for the job?” Mabel asked and Sophie nodded immediately and thanked her the offer.
“But I have one request” Sophie pleaded.
“Whats that?”
“Please, I don’t want anyone to know who I am . Can I pose as a relative of yours? I promise to repay you back for your kindness someday”
” It’s alright my dear” Sophie hugged Mabel. And after a few more talks, they left.
A man from the shadows gestured a thumbs up to Sophie which Mabel didn’t see and Sophie smiled and nodded knowingly.
“Who is this?” One of the guards asked Mabel when she came with a girl whom they didn’t know.
“She’s my niece” Mabel answered and entered the car immediately with the girl. The guard who asked had a doubtful look that the girl was in anyway related to Mabel but he didn’t question. Afterall,Mabel wouldn’t purposely bring anything or anyone who would have the Lockharts.

Finally they arrived back home,while Mabel and Sophie went in,side, the maids and the guards offload the truck and had most of the goods kept in the warehouse.
Mabel carried Sophie to introduce her to Ezekiel and inform them that she had found a maid replacement for Bella.
“Good day Ezekiel” Mabel greeted and Sophie bowed . Ezekiel and Lucas were heading out when they cross paths.
” Good day Mabel” both men answered.
“Whose this?” Ezekiel asked looking at the girl whose head was still bowed down.
“This is my niece, Sophie . I brought her here as a replacement for Bella since we have been looking for a maid” Mabel explained and Ezekiel nodded satisfied with the answer.
“Okay. Well show her to a room in the servants quarters then. Am heading out”. He informed and walked past them.
” Hold on” Lucas said and Ezekiel halted. Everyone literally froze. No one knew he was examining the girl.
“Those sleeves…roll up your sleeves” he said to Sophie who was fidgeting with her fingers still looking down.
“But why?” Mabel asked surprised at the command.
” I just want to confirm something” he answered back.
“Let it be lucas. Besides, weare running late” Ezekiel said and left for the car.
” Hmmm” he took one last look at Sophie and left to meet Ezekiel.
“I don’t think we should let that girl stay in that mansion” Lucas immediately said once he stood beside Ezekiel.
“Why do you say that? She’s Mabel niece and she looks harmless” Ezekiel said .
” I don’t know but there’s something wrong with her. I just can’t place my finger on it” Lucas tried to explain.
” Your just worked up with everything that’s happening. Calm down” Ezekiel tried to convince. But nope, Lucas didn’t still feel alright.

Immediately Sophie was shown to her room. She was surprised to have a room all to herself till she was told that other room was filled up and this was the last available room. She was allowed to have it till another maid was gotten who will be sharing the room with her.
After settling properly, she brought out the phone she had stuffed in her Jean in,side her skirt.
” I didn’t think it would be that easy. But hell, it worked like a charm” she smirked at how her plan worked well.
She immediately phoned her boss.
“Sir, I have manage to get in,side the Lockhart’s mansion. Should I carry out what lady Ri had wanted us to do? ” She immediately went straight to the point.
” No. Not yet. Monitor what goes on it that house and give me updates every weekend. And that girl, Mira…. Watch her relationsh¡p with the family members. I have a feeling she will be of use in future. We won’t be Killing her yet” her boos stated.
