David lay down on his old bed in the family house.

He had been staying there so Tricia wouldn’t be alone, if there’s anyone that’s more sorrowful about their mother’s death, it will surely be Tricia, she’s always more lively with Maggie.

David remembered her father and mother arguing when he and Trish are younger:

“Maggie, stop making noise, can’t you stay a single moment without talking!”Davidson doesn’t play with newspapers and he’s not a fan of noise, he’s sure his children wonders how he managed to marry Maggie who’s happier when it’s noisy, she’s a partier.

“What did you say?! David are you saying am a noise maker?!! because of that nonsense newspaper!”Maggie snapped and snatched the paper from her husband.

Davidson caught her on the wa-ist and pulled her to sit down on his laps, he thr-sted his hand forward to take the paper but she raised it into the air and shifted it from one position to another.

Junior David and Tricia had rushed in and held their father on his legs to leave their mother alone.

“I can’t believe my David is standing against me because of a woman”Davidson always teases his son who will go to hold Maggie to leave daddy instead.

David smiled at the memories that flooded into his mind, he remembered his childhood memories vividly and felt empty thinking of how he and Tricia will live in the absence of their loving parents.

He shrugged his shoulders and brought his self back to reality, he was surprised to see Diana sitted right beside him.

She brought a hand to rest on his cheek”are you okay?”she asked quietly.

“Am fine,why?”he raised a quizzical brow.

“See, David if you continue like this, Tricia will never heal, you’ve got to help her”she said sadly.

“What did I do?”he smiled lifting his head,he placed it on her laps and looked up at her face.

“You are asking me while you don’t know how many minutes I have been here,I even talked to you but you were lost in your thoughts”Diana said rolling her eyes.

“Am sorry”he said and pulled her face close to his with his palm.

“I don’t want to see you like this again”she whispered and k-ssed the tip of his nose.

“Yes ma’am!”he saluted and covered her l-ips with his.

“I love you, honey”she said between k-sses.

He pulled her head up and stood up,then drew her into his arms,his arms securing her wa-ist,hers thrown around his neck.
He looked at her and kept smiling.

“What?”she asked in a lyrical tone pouting her l-ips.

“You are so beautiful,I can’t get tired of looking at your s€×y face”He said eyeing her.
She went on tiptoe and k-ssed his l-ips lightly.

“You have the most amazing l-ips,it parts to say the most beautiful words and….. I feel safe in your strong arms”she said and snuggled closer to him.

“I talked to your father”he started and laughed when she looked up at him with the mention of her father.”Peter and his cohorts are waiting trial but Peter said he wants to talk to me privately tomorrow”

“Oh…but why?”Diana asked bringing her gaze down.

“I don’t really know”

“Whatever it is, he better not act funny, I can’t trust him around you and am happy that Thelma is feeling much better today”

“Yeah, I thank God, your father promised to invest in the company and bring in more customers for us, you told him to do that right?”

She tilted her head to look at his face again and swirled away from his hold smiling.

“You did?”

She sat down on the bed and nodded”I know with his influence,the company will rise to it’s feet again”

“Diana?”

She looked at him.

“How will I ever pay you back?”he asked looking down at her face,he didn’t miss the pink color that rose to her cheeks instantly and disappeared just about the same time.

“If you want to pay me back, then,stay safe and stop being moody”her cheekbones rose in a beautiful smile.

“You don’t know how sassy your words are”he said returning her smile”your father is a good man, your mother too, I told them about us”

“What about us?”her smile faded, fearful of his reply.
He drew her into his arms again and cupped her face,then looked straight into her eyes.

“Diana”her name on his l-ips is a whisper,she s-cked in breath and looked at his welcoming eyes”I… I asked them for your hand in marriage”he said and felt her squirm in his hold.

“What do you mean?”She didn’t ask because she’s confused,it was more because she’s not sure she heard him clearly.

“I want you to be my wife, I want you in my future,I want you to be my forever, please be my wife,Diana”he said pleading with his eyes that she loves and trusts him enough to want to spend eternity with him.

A tear slipped down her left cheek.
She went on tiptoe and crushed her l-ips on his, she pulled on the back of his head and deepened the k-ss.

His hands traveled down her back to her lower back and lifted her off her feet, she wrapped her legs around his wa-ist.

“I never believed in love, I have always seen being with one man for a couple of days as the most boring thing that ladies do” she confessed pausing the k-ss to look into his eyes, the tip of their nose clung together.

“But David, I… I’m never ever going to get tired of loving you because each and every blessed day, I see myself falling over and over again inlove with you, I love you beyond reason, David and …..I have always wished that our fake marriage before was real, so, I will marry you, let’s make it real” she k-ssed him on the forehead and threw her head backwards to laugh when he pinched her butt.

“That’s because am jealous, I hate to even imagine another man laying rotten hand at you”he said smiling.

“That was painful” she choked and hitted his shoulder” that’s for those women that looked at you with their voracious eyes and k-ssed your sweet sweet l-ips!”

“Huh? My sweet señorita”he laughed, he made to k-ss her but she flew out of his arms and ran towards the bathroom, he was surprised as he followed her”Diana, are you okay? what’s wrong?”he stood behind her as she threw up for the fourth time and slumped weakly beside the bathtub.

He helped her clean and carried her into the bathroom,he went into the kitchen and brought with him a cup of hot chocolate for her.She took a sip and pushed it away.

“Are you okay?”he asked again,she nodded and swallowed twice.”should I get the doctor?”

She smiled brightly”it’s late, don’t worry I will visit the hospital tomorrow”

“You sure?”
She nodded and lay her head on his shoulder.

“You are pregnant?!”Tricia exclaimed reading the pregnancy test result again.

Diana stuck her hands into her free sized T-shirt and shrugged.

“Mmm”.

“Is that why you are putting that face?”Tricia asked dancing around her friend.

“Well… I don’t know if… he’s ready to be a father,yet”she scowled.

“Wait!..babe, you aren’t bordered about you not going back to school because of the fact that you are an expectant mother, but more worried about David and what he wants?!… you are something else!”Tricia shaked her head in disbelief.

“Well…yeah”she sighed and hissed.

“You want to know the truth?… you don’t know a damn about my brother, this is a great news, it calls for celebration!!”Tricia ran into the kitchen

She came out with wine glasses, a bottle of champagne at hand, she danced merrily before adding”mom has always wanted this, it’s too bad that she isn’t here to witness it”.

“Tricia,stop!”Diana shunned her.

“What are we celebrating?”

Diana whirled and bumped into David’s arms,tickles of red wine splashed on his white shirt.

“Oh my!…am sorry”she apologized smiling with her head tilted to oneside”me and Tricia are too engrossed in our celebration that we didn’t hear you come in”she added and signaled to Tricia to tune down the volume of the music .

“And …what are you guys celebrating?”he raised a brow as they went to sit down.

Tricia turned the music off entirely and went to hug her brother.

“Am so happy today big bro!!!”she whined and threw pecks on his cheeks.

Diana felt uneasy,she concentrated on pouring more wine into her glass and draining it like someone who’s in dire need of it.

“I believe that, seeing you just called me big bro!”David laughed.

“Well….big bro…. your ball hitted a net and it’s a goal!!”she jumped up deriving happiness in her brother’s confusion.

David looked at Diana,it’s odd she keeps her distance and keeps drinking champagne like ordinary water.

“I don’t understand,Trish”he said returning his gaze to Tricia.

“I mean….. your wife….Diana,is pregnant!”Tricia drawled and went to bring the test result from under the table.

“No way!”David gro-ned and looked over at Diana.”tell me it’s a lie!”

Diana didn’t know if he’s excited or unhappy about it,she couldn’t read the expression on his face as he went through the result,she took her lower lip between her teeth.

“Please,tell me this is real,Diana, I will only believe what you say!”

She nodded and wasn’t sure how she found her self in the air as he carried her up and danced around with her.Tricia turned on the music again and the two siblings danced to it.

Diana gasped in air when her feet hitted the floor again,she fanned herself with her palms and went to sit down to watch the show.
She’s speechless,her thoughts tumbled over in her head.

Rihanna’s Mr.Dj filled the house, Diana’s sure the owners of the house opposite theirs will be wondering what got into their neighbor.

“What’s going on here?!”Harry’s voice intruded bringing Tricia to a halt while David spinned around and ran to his friend,he drew him into his arms like he’s a lady in a dance ball and trust Harry, he’s always into anything,he joined the crew like he knew what they are celebrating.

*Two days later*

At Mr and Mrs Kendrick’s house.

“So, I will be a grand father soon!,how happy could I ever be?!!”Ken exclaimed hugging his daughter.

“No!!…. don’t hold my daughter like that!”Jasmine said and went to separate the father and daughter.

“Who’s your daughter?… she’s all mine!”Ken insisted.

“You don’t remember asking me whose daughter she’s at the hospital,now she’s yours, really..huh?!!”Jasmine rolled her eyes as she stood between Ken and Diana.

“Later,then,you tell me who played the ball!”Ken whined sitting down feigning an angry face.

“And later,you tell me whose net caught the ball!”Jasmine refused to back down.

David, Tricia,Harry, Melvin,Nadia,Thelma, Emily and Dr Fred where all present in the house,they all bursted into a hearty laughter as they watched the family.

Diana went and sat beside David.

“Now, I think am the lucky winner!”David teased and Jasmine snorted perching on the arm of the couch her husband sitted refusing to go close to him.

“Anyways, how’s your company doing now?”Kendrick asked the younger man.

“Thanks to you sir,it’s moving higher!”David replied happily but his eyes where fixed on Diana.

“Nah!…all glory goes to God”Ken putted in and added”how about Peter? what happened yesterday at the first hearing?”

“Well… nothing much,he already told me everything before the hearing yesterday”David shrugged before continuing”he said his father and my father did business together,but unfortunately his father didn’t do anything meaningful with the money he got as his own share of the deal,so,he was blinded by jealousy and wanted to make money by all means,he got shot when he came to rob at my house when my father was still alive. Now,Peter thought he could revenge for his father and make money by taking my shares and taking over the company,I guess he was unlucky because my guardian angel was already with me”He k-ssed Diana.

“Guardian angel?…”Jasmine raised an inquisitive brow.

“Yeah, your daughter”David chuckled”thanks honey”he said looking at his soon to be real wife with eyes filled with promises that he will fulfill for each and everyday of their lives together.

“The credit goes to you!”Diana placed her index finger on his l-ips and shutted his mouth when he opened it to talk”all your T-shirts need to get a ‘hero’ tagged on it as a badge”she k-ssed him on the forehead.

“I approve of this union with immediate alacrity!”Jasmine said clapping her hands.

“All my blessings,you get”Ken said nodding affirmatively.

“We need your blessings as well!”Harry came in holding Tricia’s hand, Tricia hid her face shyly on his chest.

“What?…when did you propose already?”Diana asked,her eyes glinting at her friend.

“Yesterday”David replied for them.

“You know about this?”She accused him.

“He told me and she said something about it last night”

“You guys hid it from me?!… you won’t get my approval at all”Diana said feigning seriousness.

“Sorry, I was planning on telling you in a special way,he just doesn’t keep secrets”Tricia laughed looking at her friend,she knew Diana is not serious.

“Let me pretend I haven’t heard,am waiting for you to tell me on a special occasion when you deem it right”Diana whined batting her long lashes.

“We too….we think your blessings will be fine”Melvin said holding out Nadia’s hand.

“Wow!”the others chorused.

“I knew you two would be best together!”Tricia exclaimed.

“Yeah,they are”Diana added flashing a smile at her ex and her best friend and neighbor at school,whom are now a couple.

“We…. can’t…be left out!”Fred said looking at Thelma.

“What?!!”the others exclaimed,all eyes on them.

“A doctor and his patient,wonders never cease to happen!”David said laughing.

“She’s an amazing woman, and yeah…love found a way for us,only Emily knew,she has walked in on us k-ssing once!”Fred said laughing.

“I actually walked in on you guys three times,but you saw me that once”Emily said laughing,then, added”I few like am the odd one here,I should have brought my fiance with me”

“You should bring him here later for blessings!”Jasmine joked and they all laughed.

“So…young couples in town,let’s celebrate love and merry with the expectant young parents”Ken said and picked a champagne on the table to pop.

“Oh yes!!”Tricia said and went to hug Diana.
Everyone took their glasses and allowed the older man pour them a drink,he poured his’and they all raised it for a toast.

“To long life,to endless love,to good health,to more wealth,to amazing children, and to …..”Ken’s voice trailed off when he looked over at Tricia whom looked gloomy.
She smiled sadly and finished for him.

“Perfect rest for the deceased during the long run”she clinged her glass to his and to everyone else as they all did the same and took sips of their drink.

“Am sure they …our parents…are happy wherever they are”David said.

“Yes,they are very proud of you two and they are celebrating with us wherever they are!”Ken agreed.

Everyone held their partner close, Emily hugged her glass of wine.

EPILOGUE.

Diana giggled at the moment her husband closed his mouth making him look like a baby expecting his mother to tell him what he really needs to hear.

They’re going to celebrate their three years wedding anniversary tomorrow and he just told her what he thinks is a top secret.

“It’s not funny”David claimed.

“That you and Melvin met at your gate and he said stupid things to you is what my dear husband calls a top secret, and wait…. you think it’s not funny?!”She said throwing herself at him as she laughed more.

“Well… I knew that you guys met that day,he called me that he was waiting for me at the gate and I refused to go out to see him because I knew you would drive in anytime and see…my instincts was right” she added laughing as colour drained on his face.

“You sure know how to lie”David snorted laughing at what he failed to notice.

“I can’t believe these guys are still writing about your wedding on the front cover of a magazine and at every cover of a newspaper after three years!”Jasmine said joining them in David’s living room, a toddler clunk to her left arm while magazines and newspapers where on each hand .

“Well….it was a hell of a wedding!”David praised smiling at his wife whose attention was on their two years and three months old son.

Diana’s mother never allows the little guy’s feet to touch the ground neither does she allow anyone else touch him, she carries him home and brings him back only when she thinks the baby misses his mother.

“Pop!”that’s the first word Junior David pronounced which they noticed that he only refers to his grandfather, Kendrick.

Well….they are expecting another baby.baby Diana probably or another young man.David keeps saying”it’s a he”while Diana stands her ground that this time “it’s gonna be a she”.

“They probably don’t know what else to write!”Diana exclaimed as she strained her neck to peep at the newspaper her mother is reading.

“……and they had their honeymoon at New York City and came back eight months later with a bouncing baby boy….”Jasmine read out loud.

David and Diana bursted into laughter at the end of the fairytale story they have turned their wedding and the events that took place after into.

“And it confuses me that you and dad will still spend money to buy another paper tomorrow and waste a precious time reading it while they can’t write important happenings in our country but choose to pry into people’s private life instead”Diana mocked. “you also need to see social media”she added.

“You won’t understand baby, sometimes they do write it”Jasmine said never taking her eyes off the newspaper even when J D slid off her laps and went to sit on the floor to play with her slippers.

“C’mon baby,come here”Diana picked her son up.”I can’t wait to see Tricia and Nadia tomorrow”

“You need to see how funny Tricia looks with her baby bump”David chuckled.

“Mmm, my son-in-law is now a gossip!”Jasmine laughed.

“I….. that’s a bit surprising,yeah…. really!”David laughed as Diana swatted at him.

“Just shush, or I will tell Tricia that you are laughing at her, but ….. seriously, the most funny thing is her face when she’s arguing with Harry about how he made her loose her beautiful all-eyes-on-me shape”Diana couldn’t hold back her laughter.

David slipped his hand into her dress and cupped her right br-ast, she pinched him hærd on his cheek making him back off, their little baby didn’t know what was going neither did Jasmine whom looked at the paper as if her wh0le life depended on it.

He grinned as she pushed his head down to k-ss her.

“You company is becoming a top rated over…..”Jasmine’s voice trailed off when her eyes hitted the young couple, she simply stood up,took her grandson and headed upstairs all smiles…………
