{ THE MAD CHASE }

“I’m in the wrong, forgive my jerkiness, Leela please”

Leela hooked her eyes on him, and he went silent as they stared at each other.

He knew he hurt her, and all he wants right now is hearing her say it’s ok, hearing her say it’s fine, they’re fine, but she’s not saying a thing, and that prompted him to hold her face.

“Please?” He begged again, and Leela finally looked away from him.

“I’m sorry, it won’t happen again ok? I promise” he said, and she nodded once before looking up again.

“Let’s eat” she said, and he smiled.

“Is that a yes?”

“Maybe” she replied, standing up.

She walked out of the room, and he smiled again before following her.

She was already sitting at the dinning, so he joined her.

“I cooked varieties, you can dish what you want” she said, not looking at him.

“Leela” he called, and she looked at him.

“Can you look at me like you do before? He asked, and she sat.

“How?”

“Don’t avoid my eyes” he replied, and she pouted slightly.

“Whatever”

He smiled and dished some enchiladas for himself.

He settled in front of it and had a taste, nodding his head afterwards.

He looked over at Leela again, but she’s still not looking at him.

Somehow, he wants the jovial lively Leela who enjoys teasing and making him mad, this new her isn’t appealing.

He sighed and dropped his spoon, then he sighed.

“I lost my parents when I was still so young” he said and Leela finally looked up at him.

“My dad died on a rainy night of thunderstorm. He was actually on his way back from work when the thunderstorm started, and he got dragged away by flood” he explained, and her eyes widened.

“What!”

“Yeah, I can still remember how badly it rained and thundered that night” he smiled sadly, and Leela blinked.

“And my mum….” He said, locking eyes with her.

“My mum ended up with dementia, and she was fired from her workplace, making living difficult for us. We were chased out of our house, and we had to start living in an uncompleted building beside a river. Then one day, I came back home and found her dead. Some gunmen killed her and took away my only sister in a ship. I tried chasing them down, but I was shot in the water. Someone saved me, and when I woke up some minutes later, I found myself in the river shore, and it was already raining heavily, thunder was roaring too, reminding me of the night my father died. I ran back into the house in tears, but there was nothing I could do. My mother died already, and my sis gone… I lost everything even when I had nothing”

Jericho was already crying hard as he told his story.

“I have no idea who saved me up until now, all I know is that i went to an orphanage and grew up there, then I was adopted by a rich man when I turned fifteen. Mr Salman took good care of me, and I was starting to think of him as my new father when I found out his real intention. He actually had a sick son who needed liver transplant, his plan was to have me killed and give his son my liver, so I escaped from the house and…. And…

Jericho couldn’t continue, he landed in a pool of tears and swam sorrowfully.

Leela stood and walked slowly to him. She gently hugged his head to her chest and wiped his tears, stroking his hair just like last night.

“I’m sorry you went through all that, Jerry” she said.

She was already crying too, but she stopped her tears from falling as she consoled him.

“I’m so sorry Jericho, so sorry”

CITY~ANASTASIA’S PLACE

Anastasia was smiling as she came out of her car, unable to stop thinking about the kiss with Jimmy earlier.

“He really kissed me” she touched her lips, giving it a quick lick before stepping in.

“Am I getting a boyfriend soon? Should I ask him out?” She giggled, putting on the lights, but her eyes widened when she saw Hailey sitting on the couch glaringly.

“Mum!” She held her chest, falling on the ground.

“You didn’t tell me you got a new job” Hailey rolled eyes, standing up to get herself an apple from the freezer.

“That’s because anytime I call to tell you something, you always attack me with this grandchildren of a thing and it’s sickening!” Anastasia rolled eyes, walking into her room.

“Why shouldn’t I? I’m acting like any good mother would have acted, should I remind you of your age again?” Hailey replied, entering her room with her.

“Maybe I’m getting a boyfriend soon” Anastasia smiled as she pulled off her trousers.

“Are you joking?” Hailey went closer.

“Do I look like I am? I’ll shock you I promise” Anastasia smiled, thinking about the kiss with Jimmy again.

“So who’s he?” Hailey asked, and her phone rang immediately.

She smiled immediately she saw Jimmy on the screen, and she quickly picked, walking out of the room.

“Hey Jim!” She said sweetly, playing with her hair.

Hailey glued to her back, following her around to listen to everything.

“Hey Ana, are you home already?” Jimmy asked.

“Of course, what about you?”

“Same here, I wanted to hear your voice before going to bed” Jimmy replied, and she felt her cheeks burning up.

“Aww!”

“Should we meet for breakfast tommorow before we go to work?” He asked.

“Really? I don’t mind” she replied.

“See you tommorow then”

“Sure… Goodnight” she smiled.

“Goodnight Ana” he replied, and she hung up before jumping.

“Yes!” Hailey shouted.

“Mum you heard that right? He’s surely interested in me!”

“Of course, what should we name the first baby? Ariel or Eva?” Hailey gushed, and Anastasia hugged her.

“I’m finally getting a boyfriend!”

“I can’t wait!” Hailey hugged her back, and they laughed at once.

NEXT MORNING~MAGNOLIA ISLAND

Leela was already done with cooking breakfast when Jericho came out of his room.

He stopped walking for a moment, and they stared at each other shortly.

She actually put him to sleep last night. He practically cried to sleep.

“Did you sleep well?” She broke the silence, and he smiled.

“Sure, thanks banshee” he replied, and she laughed, dropping the spoon with her on the dinning table.

“Can you stop calling me that? Jericoco” she said, and he laughed too, walking to her.

She walked to him and felt his temperature with her palm, and he blinked.

“I’m always hot, no need to check” he said.

“Can you shut up?” She rolled eyes, and he smiled again.

“Your temperature is back, now sit and eat” she said, and he sat on the chair beside him.

She entered the kitchen to bring out the meals, and his eyes widened when he saw the pasta she made the other time.

“I know you like it cos you ate everything the other time, so I made plenty” she said.

“Thanks, banshee” he said, and she laughed again.

“Hey Jerry, we’re the only two in this castle remember? I can just kill you” she said.

“Then bury my body in the river?” He winked, and she laughed.

“Stop teasing me!”

“Why can’t I? You enjoy doing it too” he replied.

“Just eat!” She pushed his head, and he picked his fork.

He had a taste and nodded, then he drank juice.

“I envy your future husband, he has a lot to enjoy” he said.

“I know, right?” She replied, sitting beside him.

“I mean… You cook delicious meals, you’re kind and beautiful, you’re…

He looked at her, and their eyes met.

“You’re…

He shifted his eyes to her chest, and she got it immediately.

“Pervert!!” She shouted, pouring water on his face.

“F**k! I didn’t say anything to deserve this!” He stood, taking his plate of pasta.

“Motherf**ker, I saw the way you stared at it last time at the pool!” She shot.

“I’m not that holy to close my eyes, when I’m not mad” he replied, eating from the pasta.

“What!” Leela gasped.

“Nice b**bs and @ss, you’re perfect” he winked, and she grabbed a fork from the table.

“I’m gonna kill you I swear! I’ll kill you!” She shouted, chasing him around with the fork.

Jericho was laughing and eating as he ran, and when she finally caught up, they fell on the couch together, and his plate of pasta fell.

Leela pinned his arms above his head and sat on his belly.

“It’s a privilege that you sat on me, with the @ss” he winked again, and she pulled his hair roughly.

“Stop! Stop Leela! Arggggghhh!!!”

“I told you I’m gonna kill you” she replied.

“There’s a phone booth far from here, you can talk to your family is you want” he suddenly said, and she let go of his hair.

“Really?”

“Trust me” he replied.

“Then let’s go! Right now!” She pulled him up.

“I’m leading the way, not you” he said, taking her hand instead.

He pulled her out through the backdoor, and when they got to his personal garage, he pressed a button on the metal door, and it rolled up, revealing a sparkling new bike.

“OMG! I can go home on this!” She gasped, running to it

“Are you dumb? It’ll run out of gas after an hour ride and you’ll get stuck in the suburbs” he replied, and her arms fell.

“We can only ride to the booth on it, get on” he said, climbing on.

“Blake! What if he sees me!” She gasped, and he smiled.

“Then we play a game, you don’t like action movies?” He said.

“I’m a big fan”

“Banshee, do you trust me?” He asked.

“Sure, Jericoco” she smiled, and she climbed behind him.

Jericho wore his helmet, and her arms wrapped on him as he drove out of the castle.

He eventually went out of the island, and they entered the suburbs.

He was driving so smoothly that she almost fell asleep on his back, but the thought of his past life kept her awake just like it did throughout last night.

What everyone sees is a rich Jericho Armstrong, but no one knows what he went through before he became the owner of the green grass he is on right now.

If anyone told her he went through shits like that, she’d have laughed it out, but after hearing his story, she couldn’t help but curse so much at Rana and Asher.

For someone who went through abyss, he definitely doesn’t deserve what they did to him, and somehow…. Somehow she wants to help him in everyway she can, she wants to heal this wounded man.

A ten minutes drive brought them to the booth, and she jumped down from the bike.

She rushed into the booth, and luckily it’s in service.

She quickly punched in her mother’s line, and it luckily went through.

“Hello mum!” She gushed happily.

“Leela!” Helen screamed immediately.

“Big sis!” Nadine and Kenji’s voices screamed from the background too.

“Mum I miss you so much! I miss you a lot, so much that I could die… I miss you!” She chanted.

“Just tell me your friend’s address, right now I’m coming!” Helen replied.

“No mum, you…

“No excuses!… The address!” She interrupted.

Leela looked at Jericho, and he shrugged.

“Actually… Mum…. I’ve been lying” she said.

“What!” Helen gasped.

“I’m actually with… My boyfriend” she lied.

“It’s a lie! Big lie Leela!”

“I’m for real mum, I just didn’t want to shock you, that’s why I lied about it”

“Boyfriend? Since two weeks?”

“You still don’t believe? Talk to him” she gave the phone to Jericho.

“Goodmorning ma’am! Leela’s man on the line!” He smiled, and Leela almost died of laughter.

“For real?” Helen said.

“Of course, so please… We still have a lot of things to do together, allow her to spend more time with me and…

The phone made a straight noise immediately, and it went off.

“It reached the time limit already” he said.

“Shit! I need to call Anastasia too!”

“We’ll just come again tommorow” he replied, and she nodded.

“But shouldn’t you pay me for playing your boyfriend?” He suddenly said, and she laughed.

“C’mon, what are friends for” she slapped his arm lightly.

“I want benefits” he said, and she faced him.

“Seriously? You’re crazy”

“Pay me” he said, and she sighed.

“What do you want?”

“A kiss”

“Kiss?”

He nodded, and she smiled.

“Are you that addicted to my lips?”

“Who knows?” He replied, and she laughed, but it faded off quickly.

She suddenly pushed his back to the booth wall, and her lips got stuck on his own in a matter of seconds.

She kissed him, and he closed his eyes, wrapping his tongue on hers as their teeth bit Into their lips.

Leela intended a fast one, but immediately their lips met, she lost all sense of time, and it went on till she suddenly got a hold of his hair, pulling him into herself.

She wasn’t thinking, and so is he. All they’re concerned about right now is feeding the hunger that’s filling up their throats…

Jericho hugged her waist, and now it’s his turn to pin her to the second glass.

Immediately her back thudded on it, they broke the kiss, and their hunger only got refined immediately they saw their wet lips.

“Again?” She whispered.

“Again” he replied breathlessly, and their lips crashed again in an Insane sync, but that was interrupted when a gunshot came, crashing into one of the glass walls.

The bullet flew straight to Jericho’s arm, and he broke the kiss immediately, holding the bleeding arm.

“Jerry!” Leela gasped, turning to see her worse nightmare.

Blake! He was looking so deadly and dark as he ran towards the booth with Immanuel and Pepper.

“Oh no!” Leela gasped fearfully.

“Didn’t I tell you to trust me?” Jericho said from behind her, and she turned to see him holding a gun already.

“Jerry…

“You said you’re a fan of action movies” he said, and she smiled before hugging him.

“Get on the bike” he said, and she ran out of the booth, climbing the bike.

Blake shot at the tyre, trying to deflate it, but luckily it has bulletproof.

He made to shoot again, but that was when Jericho revealed his gun, giving him a shot on the thigh.

“F**k!!!” He screamed in horror.

“Blake!” Immanuel held him, and Pepper covered them.

He started shooting back to back, but Jericho was able to dodge it all till he climbed behind Leela.

“Move” he ordered, and Leela brought the bike to life, driving crazily down the road.

“Good girl” he laughed behind her, but soon, Blake’s bike appeared behind them. He hijacked it from it’s owner obviously.

“Stop the bike!” He shouted.

“Faster, baby” Jericho said, and Leela added to her speed, her hair flowing so bad.

“I love this!” She shouted.

“Stop the f**king bike!” Blake shouted, shooting at Jericho, but he bent sidewards, and Leela leaned forward, so they avoided it.

Jericho turned back and shot at Blake, hitting his arm.

“F**k!” Blake spat as blood gushed out, but he still didn’t stop chasing.

Suddenly, Immanuel and Pepper appeared in front of them on two other bikes, and Leela’s eyes widened.

“Calm down and play them” Jericho said behind her.

She pretended like she wants to stop the bike, and immediately she did, they stopped theirs too, and that was when she raised the power bike to invincible.

She crashed directly into Immanuel, said she fell together with her bike.

Before Pepper could retaliate, Jericho gave him a shot on the arm, and Leela sped off, sliding into a corner.

“Good girl” Jericho laughed.

“Let’s provoke Blake, I’m sure he’s still chasing” she replied.

“How?” He asked.

“Grab my b**bs” she replied.
