Everyone has limits and weaknesses , that’s one of the bitter truths of life. Even us the Elites, we have a line of which we can not cross beyond but that doesn’t mean that’s the end . Many believe that humans can not surpass their limits especially when it comes to the mind and body but they’re wrong. There’s always room for one to grow and everyone can surpass their limits and overcome their weakness if they put their efforts into it. All it takes is a little faith and patience.

As everyone watched from a safe distance, here I was being tested by Ace to see how much and how far I could go. The test run was more like a combat training type and I have to say it was fun. Despite how amazing and dangerous my ability was, there were certain things that I couldn’t do. First, I can’t teleport anything that is 30 to 50 times my size or weight. So far the biggest thing that I could teleport with ease was a small lorry and a jeep. As for my weakness, Ace somehow deduced that it was electricity as in electric shock and he was right.
According to his analysis, Ace said that in order for a teleportation to be successful, it needed to be stabilized but any electrical malfunctions may cause it to be disrupted and destructive. To put it in simplest terms, I needed full concentration to be able to use my abilities successfully but once I gets affected by an electric shock, I won’t be able to use her ability.
After Ace was done with me , Ade was up next. Everyone except for the detective knew about Ade’s weakness which was a powerful shockwave but it turns out there was more. Another thing that could affect or harm Ade was lightening. Lightening is similar to an electric shock but it’s more lethal plus it also creates powerful shockwaves. Watching Ade’s test run was pretty amazing especially when he was struggling to maintaining his body from fazing. There was no way for Ace to create real lightening so he had to create a powerful electric shock that was close to one.
After Ade, everyone of the elites took their test run and by the end of it, it turns out their their strengths was also their weakness. For instance Eze (Mircoscope) had incredible sight that surpasses that of any living being in the world but there was one problem to his power, he can’t use it for very long especially when he uses his eyes to see very far. Ace concluded that if he might go blind if he pushes himself too far.
Another Elite with similar case with Eze was Naomi (Reaper) . Her eyes could kill anyone who stares into her eyes directly but that method also applies to her. To cut it short, Ace concluded that her weakness was Mirrors. He warned her never to look at mirrors directly with her eyes unless he’s wearing a dark shades.
Another Elite who’s strength is also his greatest weakness was my disciple, Chris aka ( Light speed). His own test run was by far an amazing experience and it showed us all more about him. During his own test run, Chris was hesitant to show everyone his true ability and even before Ace could figure out his weakness, he told everyone the real danger behind with power.

Ace ➡ Okay Chris. Show us how fast you can go. Felicia said you’re faster than light.
.

Chris ➡ I’m sorry, I can’t.
.

Ifeanyi. ➡ Show us abeg.

Kaitlyn ➡ Maybe this is just a fluke.

Iris ➡ It’s not a fluke. Chris is fast.
.

KABIR ➡ Let him show us then.

Ade ➡ Everyone keep quiet. Chris, is something wrong?

Chris ➡ There is something terrifying about my ability. That’s why I don’t…. (sighs) I’m sorry everyone. This is a bad idea.

Ace ➡ Well I can’t know your weaknesses if I can’t measure your speed.

Chris ➡ You can’t measure this speed. It’s beyond your understanding.

Ace ➡ Try me. If you won’t show us your speed, at least tell me what you’re so afraid of.

Chris ➡ Okay then here goes. First of all, I’m older than everyone in this room. Don’t let my age fool you. I might like any 20 year old guy but I’m not.

Chioma ➡ Oga, you need to start talking cause I’m starting to think you’re crazy.

Eve ➡ Absolutely. We may be Elites but having long life span isn’t one of them.

Ali ➡ Says the one that can shed her skin and returned into a younger version of herself.

Felicia ➡ Enough! Chris, start talking.

Chris ➡ Okay, I was born in the year 1920. That was before nigeria’s independence. I first discovered my ability at age 10 and it changed my life forever. I could go anywhere I wanted and do whatever I wanted without anyone bothering me but at age 18, everything changed.
In October 1940, our tertiary class was going to an excursion to Lagos but on our way there, we were involved in a huge accident. I didn’t know I could save everyone with my level of speed so I got out of the bus before it crashed. Everyone died except me. When our department heard I was the only one alive and well, they called me names saying I was a bad omen, that I was responsible for the deaths of my course mates. My family too began to see me with that eye that they gave me no choice but to leave before I could get far, the EXECUTIONERS came for me and wanted to kill me so I ran. I ran so far and fast like I’ve never ran before and in that moment of escape, something unbelievably strange happened.

Ace ➡ What happened?

Chris ➡ I don’t know but as I ran, I saw myself running through a dark tunnel full of small shiny dots and shortly after that, my entire body became bright with light that it began to disintegrate into tiny bright particles and before I knew it everywhere was fully bright and then it was suddenly dark. Within a short while, there was an explosion of bright light and then I found myself in the road between Abuja and Kaduna in the year 2028. That was 2 years ago.

Just as everyone was surprised, so was I. Chris’s story was just too ridiculous to believe. To think that Ade’s power was confusing enough, Chris’s power was just too unreal. After that short story, everyone waited for Ace to make his analysis which he didn’t take to long to reveal to us. In fact, the big brain was excited about all this and his analysis made things even more confusing.

Ace ➡ This is truly remarkable. A breakthrough of the century.

Richærd (adaptor) ➡ Breakthrough!? Which breakthrough?

Kaitlyn ➡ Help me ask him o.

Ace ➡ Silence! Chris, I think I understand your situation. You don’t just have the ability to move fast. You also have the ability to run through timelines.

Rollins ➡ Ace, use English abeg. This grammar of yours is complicating enough.

Ace ➡ What I’m trying to say is, the faster Chris runs, the further into the future he goes. This is common similarity to light speed. Space travel takes a very long time especially when going to the moon or mars but with light speed one can travel through space in hours. Chris, your speed allows you to travel into the future.

Sofia ➡ Babe, that’s crazy! Even if time travel is possible. Chris should have died. A human body can’t withstand that kind of experience.

Ace ➡ That was why his body broke into smaller particles to enable him survive. This is truly incredible. Just imagine the possibilities of this ability if Chris…..

Chris ➡ NO!! I’m not going through that again. I just lost 88years of my life and all the people I knew back then are now dead. I can’t control this power and it’s too risky. I may not know much about time travel but messing with timelines will be catastrophic.

Ace ➡ Nonsense. Your power can be used to do a lot of good.

Abyzou ➡ Or destroy the reality in the process.

Ace ➡ Who said that?

In that moment, the girl with the demon in,side her stepped forward and told Ace about the dangers of tapping Chris’s power. The fact that the demon was on our side, it’s still creepy to it see possess an innocent girl.

Abyzou ➡ The problem with intelligent beings is that the think they can control everything. There are things that you humans can never control and one of them is traveling through time. Time is inevitable like death. It can not be stopped or controlled. Harnessing this power will cause great consequences, consequences which you can never fix.

Ace ➡ But with his power, we can know what disastrous thing that will happen in the future. We can prevent that and save lives.

Abyzou ➡ Tell me, would like to know the day you die or how you die? Because I know and I’ve seen what your demise will look like.

Ace ➡ No.. Don’t tell me.
.

Abyzou ➡ Knowing the future isn’t something humans should know about. Whatever that happens in the life was meant to happen. One can not change their fate and even if you prevent something bad from happening, something worse will occur.

Felicia ➡ Okay, we can all agree this is a bad idea. Can we get on to what we were doing?
.

Abyzou ➡ You don’t seem to be bothered by all this.
.

Felicia ➡ Yeah, This is all confusing for me. Besides I have bigger things to worry about. Our main concern now should be Prometheus.

Kabir ➡ You’re right but their whereabouts is still unknown and as for our renegade elites, they’re also in the wind.

Ade ➡ That will be taken care off. Samson is using every technical device in Nigeria to find them. It’s impossible for them not to use any technical device especially in the era where everything is now in electronical and digital. My spirit friends are on the look out too.

Sophia ➡ Okay, now that we’ve seen our limits and strengths. It’s time my genius boyfriend and I showed you something interesting.

Eve ➡ And what might that be?

Sophia ➡ Camouflage wrist watches.
.

Eve ➡ Are you joking?
.

Sophia ➡ Not in the slightest.
.

Teresa ➡ What does the watch do?
.

Ace ➡ Disguises one’s presence. The watch scans the people you want to disguise as and voila.

Sonny ➡ You mean the watch can disguise me as anyone in here?
.

Sophia ➡ Absolutely but whatever you do. Don’t let it come in contact with water because if it does, the disguise will wear off.

Felicia ➡ Interesting watch. Is there enough for sale?

All ➡ FELICIA!!!!

What can I say? I’m a hustler and this watch sounds like a very good marketing product. With the right buyers and price, my bank accounts will be overflowing with cash. Besides who says being a hero pays? I can’t spend all my time risking my live to save a bunch of people, I also need time to pursue my own personal interests and that includes making money wherever I see the opportunity. Na who no want better thing?

(OMNISCIENT POV)

As the night gets colder in the busy streets of Lagos, the rogue elites assemble on one of the roofs of the tallest building in Surelere discussing about their heist tomorrow. Omotola who wasn’t giving her full attention focused her gaze on the moon swinging around an old pocket watch and this actions of hers didn’t sit well with her fellow comrades.

Mary ➡ I wonder what you’re looking at?

Gabriel ➡ Help me ask her. We’re here planning to bust that jewelry store by this time tomorrow and you’re busy staring at the sky.

Moses ➡ Omotola! We need your attention now.
.

Omotola ➡ The ecl¡pse is tomorrow! We need it if the plan is too ever succeed.
.

Burau’uba ➡ I don’t see why we need that for. All we have to do is break in and take the diamonds.
.

Omotola ➡ You fool! It seems you’ve forgotten that we’re outnumbered. My powers will increase when the ecl¡pse sets and I want to use my boosted powers to deal with our opposition.

Joshua ➡ What if the ecl¡pse doesn’t set tomorrow?

Omotola ➡ It will. I can feel it. It will set.

Moses ➡ Alright then. Remember what we planned. Everyone knows what to do.

Gabriel ➡ Sure thing. Let’s hope that our opposition have seen our false message. I hope they fall for it.

Omotola ➡ It doesn’t matter if they fall for it or not. By tomorrow, this city will be under my spell.

{LOLA}

Tonight was definitely an experience of a lifetime. To think that I would get to see a dozen of Elites and their abilities is just freaking amazing. One ability I just couldn’t understand was that of the little girl, the vibe I got from her was very unpleasant and threatening despite looking so innocent. However, there was nothing more that impressed me more than seeing this super-powered individuals using their special gifts to help people, the public might not know of their existence but they’re the best guardians and protectors the people could ever have.
Speaking of protectors, there are some certain elites that do not fit that description especially that Eve and her 2 crew members not to mention of Felicia who’s appearance and character clearly shows that she’s not to be trusted. I would love to voice out my opinions but after considering what they’re capable of, I decided to keep my mouth shut and wait for the opportune moment. After the test run was over, Sonny escorted me home so as to keep me safe and as we drove in,side my car, none of us could bare to look at each other or say anything. It was awkward. It wasn’t until after we arrived at the front of my house that Sonny to speak up.

Sonny ➡ Lola, there’s something I want to discuss with you.
.

Lola ➡ I’m listening.
.

Sonny ➡ I’m sorry for keeping things from you but you now know why I had to do it.
.

Lola ➡ I’m still mad at you but it’s okay. I get it now. I still can’t believe they’re so many of you.
.

Sonny. ➡ Neither did I.
.

In that moment as Sonny kept quiet, I stared at his face and for the first time I noticed how cute he was. It’s been a while since I dated a guy or had any relationsh¡p with one and with the times I’ve spent with Sonny, it’s hærd to say that I haven’t developed an interest in him.
After a brief moment of quietness, Sonny decided to leave the car and go his way but before he could reach for the door. I held his hand.

Lola ➡ Wait, don’t go.
.

Sonny ➡ Is something wrong?
.

Lola ➡ Well, there’s a wine in the fridge so I was thinking we could both share it.
.

Sonny ➡ Okay, let’s go.
