Episode 1
(The party🎉🎈 )
“Where did you say, we’re going to again?”
Eve gave her Rilly who just asked that question,a sideways glance. she can be annoying at times more like a questioner but she can’t do anything about it and she can’t replace or change her either, she’s her best friend and she likes her like that but how many time will she tell her they’re going to her fiance’s family house?
Maybe she’ll have to repeat it throughout their drive there.
“To a party”.. she lied.
“Which club are we partying in? sansy? Or lovers hangout?” Rilly asked pampering her l-ips with a lip gloss…
“None of them..”Eve shrugged..
“Please let’s hit lovers hangout, I can’t wait to see Dean” she said dreamily.
“Who the hell is Dean..?”Eve queried.
“You need to see this guy am talking about,wow he’s so perfect. I met him at the club last night” she said,her voice clothed with affection this time.
“I’m sorry but we’re not going to any club.”Eve expounded and she sat up sulkily.
“Ugh”she exclaimed..
“I thought I told you where we’re going to”
“It must have slipped my mind.”
“Well we’re going to my betrothed, family house..” she replied and Rilly got up from the bed she’d been sitting on.
“So why are we going there?”she asked and Eve huffed,overtly annoyed by her interview.
“There’s an all night party, Hale is back..” Eve announced and she jumped up in surprise.
“Oh my God,are you serious?my crush is back?” She asked,full of surprise at this unexpected information. Eve’s fiance,philip always spoke lenghtly about his brother Hale but they both haven’t met him in person. It might seem weird cause she’s betrothed to his brother and they’re about to be wedded twenty four hours from now, but the truth is Hale has been away, running his Dad’s business in California and all she got to do is talk to him on phone and see his pictures,and she’s recorded him as being charming, even though they’ve never really had a tête-à-tête (face to face conversation),so today will be the first time they would be meeting.
She glanced at Rilly and chuckled, Rilly was already in a fit of celebration.
“Oh God I can’t believe my crush is finnaly back..” she said jubilantly.
“Who’s your crush?”Eve asked narrowing her eyes down at her.
“Hale of course” she said with so much confidence in her voice.
“Are you for real Rilly, you were talking about this Dean of a guy and now you’re calling Hale your crush?” Eve wriggled her brows.
“Well I like the both of them I’ll marry the both of them…” She said and Eve laughed,hærd.
“You’ll marry two guys…?” She questioned, gobsmacked.
“Yes,I can even go for three as far as they’re all cute.”
“Rilly!..” Eve yelled..
“What?” She asked rolling her topaz eyes.
“Na ur body go tell u…” Eve chuckled and Rilly stared at her,eyewide..
“Where did you learn that from?”she asked peering suspiciously at her friend.
“Well my Nigerian friend on Instagram taught me that” she said and Immediately Eve’s cheeks turned red. Seriously? What’s with this chick? Eve thought staring at her friend.
“Wow,Is your friend a guy?is he cute? let’s see that photo.” Rilly said and she frowned,gosh when will she stop this madness of wanting to date all the cute guys in the world..
“He’s not cute…” She lied, actually her Nigerian
chat friend is a girl.
“Okay find me a cute Nigerian, I heard they’re huge down there and…..”
“I don’t want to hear..” Eve said cutting her off amid clasping her hands over her ears.
“V-rgin Mary, don’t you think it’s nice to be married to a Nigerian king,so I’ll get to live over there in one of those fancy mansion with servants fanning me and bringing me food. Awwn I’ll have all those lovely brown children running around,too bad I can’t speak Nigeria….”
She said in an unfeigned pathetic voice.
“Go and marry a Nigerian if you want to, leave me alone.”Eve said and she sulked,arms crossed.
“But I can’t speak Nigeria” she said grumpily..
“Rilly nobody speaks Nigeria” Eve said and huffed as she gave a huge sigh of relief.
“Oh thank God, I’ll get to marry as many as I wish”
“That’s the reason why you can’t keep a Man..” she taunted.
“Oh please,spare me that. So tell me,were you serious about Hale. Is he back for real?.”she asked in an unsophisticated tone.
“Yes he’s back” Eve affirmed with a nod.
“Come on, enough of the games….” Rilly said doubtfully.
“Hale is back..” Eve rephrased happily.
“You know you’re a big prankster,this must be a joke. So tell me what’s going on in that mysterious mind of yours” She said placing both hands akimbo. Eve huffed and rolled her eyes.
“Well you loose on this one cause this is not an all fool’s day, Hale is really back. Phillip called me an hour ago,he told me he’s back just for the wedding. He’ll go back as soon as the wedding is done.”she explained wryly.
“Wow this is goodnews,so he has finally decided to leave California after a long time.” Rilly said jubilantly as Eve walked up to the mirror..
“What can I say I’m over the moon, I’ll Finnaly get to see my fiance’s twin,it s-cks to only see him in photos you know?” She said admiring herself in the mirror,she had her blonde hair plaited in a two corn row,with several colors of hair band at the end of each braid which
almost stopped below her wa-ist. A pair of big round diamond earrings dangled on each side of her face which was hidden behind a pair of eyeglasses. She was all dogged up in a black jumpsuit while Rilly wore a blue dinner gown which clunged to her body all the way down to her ankles,where the material spread in a circle hiding her shoes.
“Yeah, it’s good that those ski-ny ass California girls have finnaly released him,so he’ll come home.”
Rilly said and they both laughed.
“Yeah he dare not miss his elder brother’s wedding for anything” Eve said wearing a perfume.
“What do you think,the wedding would be like, it’s just a day after tomorrow you know?”
Eve capped the perfume and dropped it.” Well I can’t imagine what it’ll look like, I’m just trying not to look nervous. Even though that’s what I’m feeling right now,I hope the wedding turns out right.”
“It’s alright, I’m sure Philip is taking care of everything.”Rilly assured standing behind her.
“Gosh I’m so nervous, they’re going to be a lot of people. Imagine how it’ll be like standing in front of a wh0le lot of family members,friends and well wishers to proclaim our love for each other. To be sincere I’m so nervous and when I remember my phobia for crowds………”
She trailed.
“You’d do well,so you don’t need to worry about anything besides I’m here.” Rilly reassured placing a hand on her shoulder.
“If you say so girlfriend….”
“Yeah so are you done or do you need my help with anything?” Rilly asked and she shook her head quickly,then stepped away from the mirror to affirm that she was done.
“No, I’m done let’s get going”
Eve said and Rilly shoved her clutch bag under an arm.
“So what about Philip, isn’t he coming?” Rilly asked making a little twirl infront of the mirror.
“He said he has a wh0le lot of files piled up for him,so he’ll be working late into the night, he’ll Join us later.”Eve explained taking in a deep breath and exhaling swiftly..
“Work,work work Is this how it’ll be when you two settle down together?”she said and that made her feel bad.
“No…” She started and stopped as Rilly gave her one of her sharp look.
“I thought not.”Rilly sighed.
“Rilly when we get to that bridge. We’ll cross it,for now we’re running late for the party.” Eve said changing the subject of discussion.
“Well if you say so”
They didn’t speak throughout the drive to Philip’s family house,even though they drove in Eve’s car. Well what did they have to talk about?
Certainly nothing like….. hey!babe! Do you think Hale will like me?
What do you think he’ll say about my hair?
Do you think he’ll want me for his brother?
What do you think he’ll have to say about the wedding?…….. Certainly not! So they sat in silence and soon they got to their destination.

A female servant welcomed the ladies to the mansion and ushered them into a brightly-lit room buzzing with the scent of kukumakrankas and lively chatter of people drinking as they blend. Eve looked for the family of her betrothed but non of them were in sight. Everyone was dressed in fine clothes and seemed completely at ease in the elaborate setting; enormous chandelier hung from the ceilings and festive bands of ivy decorated the bay window,The walls has ranks of white marble niches capped by huge marble scallops, and flanked by urns and flowers, drapes and putti. Waitress in frilly white aprons waved through the room, balancing silver trays on their fingertips. A smile flicked through Eve’s face as she glimpsed Mrs Patterson (Philip’s Mom) exchanging pleasantries with a woman on red,the woman turned out to be her Mom.
“Babe..” She nudged Rilly and walked up to them.
“Urgh wait up…” Rilly mo-ned walking hastily to meet up with her.
“Hi Mom,Hi Ma’am…” They both greeted in turns as they got to them..
“Oh Amaretto….”Mrs Patterson called out. They hugged and airk-ssed in turns.
“How’re you two doing?”she asked looking the ladies over.
“We’re good Ma’am and you?” Rilly asked smiling.
“We’re okay as you can see..”Luciana, Eve’s Mom replied feeding both ladies to a clinical look.
“Yeah you look really good,i mean you both look 16…” Eve teased the women who gigled loudly.
“And you don’t look bad yourself,my dear you look dishy..” her Mom teased.
“You’re right Lucy,she looks beautiful. I mean extremely beautiful,I must confess my son has eyes for good things…”Mrs Patterson concoured swiveling her head slowly..
“Oh boy, Mom you’re flattering me..” Eve said as they all laughed.
“I don’t flatter,I say things just the way there are.” Mrs Patterson crooned.
“Mom you just did,I mean you did it codedly but I like it.” Eve crooked, wriggling her head slowly.
“But I’m serious, you’re really beautiful.”she teased again.
“Thank you Mom I know that already, Phillip says that alot..” she said already blushing to reaffirm what she just said.
“I see,so talking about Philip, where’s he? I don’t see him around.” Luciana mumbled, looking around as if in search of Philip.
“He’s coming,he just have to tidy up some things at work..” Eve explained glancing at Rilly who nodded in affirmation to her words.
“Oh she’s right,he came here earlier. He told me he’ll be showing up later,I wanted to tell you but I it slipped my mind..” Mrs Patterson concoured,and Luciana gave off an “okay”,which was drowned by the low music oozing into the hall.
“Hope you two are enjoying the party?”Mrs Patterson asked..
“Oh yes Ma’am, everything is good..”Rilly said smiling cheekily.
“You sure?”
“Yes ma’am but the thing is I haven’t seen Hale, is he really back?..”she questioned.
Mr Patterson smiled sweetly. “Of course he is. Don’t worry you’ll be seeing him any moment from now, he must have blend in with the crowd.”
“Okay,if you say so Ma’am..”Rilly replied puckering her l-ips.
“Can you please cut off that ma’am,y’all have about ma’amed me to death. But you can call me Taylor from now on. Got it?” Mrs Patterson scolded Rilly who nodded sheepishly.
“Yes, ma’am___ I mean Taylor..”she replied and Mrs Patterson rolled her eyes.
“Why don’t we let the ladies be” Luciana suggested in a near hush.
“You know what, that’s right.”She concoured,then turning to the ladies,she said. “We’ll leave you two alone,have fun and don’t forget to mingle..”
“Okay, we’ll do just that..” they replied in unision, flashing the older ladies cheeky smile as they walked away.
“So what now?” Rilly asked glancing at her friend who shrugged. A waiter stopped by and offered them canape,which they accepted with a glass of wine.
“Nothing, let’s just mingle..” she replied and waved at a group of girls who walked pass them whispering and gigling shyly.
“Mingle?what about Hale?”Rilly asked,her face had turn wry.
“What about him?” Eve interrogated peering into her drink.
“I mean why is he not here?”.
“Didn’t you hear his Mom talk?,she said he’s already here.”
“But I don’t see any one who looks like Philip here,do you think Hale is really back..” Rilly murmured, taking a sip of her wine amid looking around, looking for Hale..
“Can you just calm down…?” Eve asked also taking her own sip amid glancing at the flower arrangement,she moved her eyes to the painting on the wall and gave it a good stare.
“No I can’t wait to see him. I’m so nervous…”Rilly muttered breathlessly.
“You’re not the only nervous person here,so quit it….”she replied still absorbed in the painting..
Rilly drank from her glass. “I guess I’m in real need of a boyfriend.”
“Rilly, Rilly. You’re just getting on my nerves now” Eve scolded Rilly who laughed.
“Oh come on..” she dismissed with a flick of the hand.
“What is your problem?,I thought you said you were settling down with a Dean and now Hale?”
“You know you need to meet Dean,so you’ll tell me who’s cuter between the two of them…”
She said ignoring Eve’s response.
“I don’t want to meet him, thank you for your invitation I don’t want to meet your Dean, your Nigerian or whatever. You know girlfriend, I think I have a special piece of advice for you. You will like this advice…”Eve said giving her a sly grin.
“Yeah,what is it…?”Rilly asked swapping her clutch from the arm it was sandwiched in,to another.
“You’ll need a shrink to examine your head…”Eve advised and she scoffed.
“I already did that..”she stated.
“What?”
“I went to a shrink to an-lyze my head and he said it’s lack of s€× that’s bringing me down,so you see I need a boyfriend.”
“Oh God Rilly,you make me laugh.”she grimaced taking a sip of her wine.
“Oh come on,babe wake up I’m catching fun..”Rilly said swiveling her h¡ps which was not visible, because of the dress she had on.
“Everything is fun for you,go on..”Eve said with a sad gesture.
“Oh yeah, it’s better than being a one hell of a boring friend…” She shrugged, unconvinced. Busy sipping from her canape drink.
“It’s not funny Rilly,you need to settle down. Get a man and settle down,do something with your life..” Eve advised.
“Give me a break…”she waved her left hand in dismissal.
“If you don’t stop,I think this friendsh¡p will be over very soon,cause I don’t understand you anymore..”
There was no response from Rilly and Eve looked around to see what has gotten Rilly’s attention.
An attractive and well built man decked up in white,with blue eyes and sleek black hair was standing by a portrait doodling on his phone pad amid tapping the air with his foot. He is Hale.
Eve gazed at him dazzled by his looks. He bore an uncanny resemblance to Philip but the only noticeable difference is that he had his hair styled up on one side,his eyelashes,which shot out like twigs and the butterfly tatoo at the left side of his neck which seems to get her attention.
“Oh my God,he is one nice stick of lollipop.” Rilly found herself drooling but Eve wasn’t paying attention. She still had that dazzed look on her face as she gaped at Him.
“Damn he’s hot!” She had wanted to scre-m as a sudden feeling of deja Vu clouded her, probably because she had stared too hærd at his picture too many times. He was way taller than he seemed in the picture,so she could easily notice that well defined abds and that shoulders which were noticeable through the unbuttoned white shirt he had on. He must be hitting the gym,she didn’t mean to stare but couldn’t look away either so she kept gazing at him.
Just then, Hale glanced up and caught the bewildered lady staring at him, she looked down immediatly, slightly embarrassed..
Seeing him shouldn’t had bemused her like it did but the truth was she had been thinking about him quiet alot.
She lifted her head slowly and felt her chest tighten as she saw him walking towards them,the curious look on his face was noticeable and priceless,just as she’d imagined. She gulped and looked down again.
What was happening to her,! God please don’t let him be a mind reader..!
