EPISODE 91

“We both also know it’s not a real marriage. So you can easily end things and you know, roll with him. He is rich, I’m not.” Eric reminded her.

Easily end things? She felt like telling him being unable to control her S-xual urge wasn’t the same as being stupid, but decided to let it go.

“Yeah. Thanks for reminding me.” She said with a stiff smile as she returned her attention to her food. She didn’t know why she felt oddly annoyed by what he just said.

“So ap@rt from Prisca having a crush on him, what else is the reason you want her to repres£nt you?” Eric asked, returning to the original question.

“I’d just rather avoid the temptation. Let’s talk about something else.” Kimberly suggested.

Eric could tell she didn’t like what he had said earlier. He didn’t like it too, but if he was going to wra-p things up in a week, then he was going to have to do this without s£ntiments, “I thought about what you said the other night about me sleeping in your room. I’ll be spending the nights in your room henceforth.” Eric said, wanting to change the subject.

Kimberly looked at him, and tried to stifle the urge to remind him he didn’t need to do so since it wasn’t a real marriage. She decided against it and just returned her attention to the chicken once again.

“No comment? You no longer want me to?” He asked curiously.

“I’m just surprised. I thought you forgot about that.” Kimberly said with a shrug.

“I didn’t. I just didn’t want to rush it.”

“Okay.”

“I’m going to resume work at the company in two weeks as you wanted.” Eric announced, ma-king her glance at him again in surprise, but this time she looked plea-sed.

“Really?”

“Yeah. Both you and my family wants me to, so I decided to do it.” Eric said, and left it at that. He intended to keep dropping hints from now until the end of the two weeks.

“Oh! It’s for the best. Talking about your family, what about your sister?” Kimberly asked curiously since it’s been a while since she heard of her.

“She is fine.”

“The other day you both spoke when we were together, I remember you promising to make out time to see her. How about you invite her over?” Kimberly suggested.

“Not yet. But you will meet her soon.” He promised her.

“How soon?”

“Remember I asked you to give me sometime to come clean with you? Once I come clean with you, you will know her as well as every other member of my family. I promise.” Eric said ma-king Kimberly sigh.

“The way you’re being so mysterious about the wh0le thing, are you a CIA spy or something? Are you working un-dercover?” Kimberly asked suspiciously.

Eric chuckled, “You have obviously been watching too many Hollywood movies.”
************

“You know you’re ma-king me skip work, right?” Chuka asked with a grin as he sat across from Eric in his spacious living room. The living room was so big and the chairs were so far ap@rt that you’d have to raise your voice a bit if you wanted to be heard. Why someone as simple as him had chos£n to live in just a big mansion was beyond Chuka.

“And who is your boss?” Eric asked as he l@ydown comfortably on his king sized sofa. He had to admit he had missed the comfort of his home. Yeah, Kimberly’s house was okay, but his was much bigger and more comfortable like the home he had grown up in.

“I thought I’m my own boss? Am I not Tunde Obasan?” Chuka asked with a teasing smile.

“Only in front of Kimberly. So how did it go with her yesterday?” Eric asked as he sat up to take the gl@ss of jui-ce his housekeeper was offering him, “Thanks Aunty Martha.” He greeted with a polite smile, before she walked away.

“She is much prettier in person sha. As I was talking to her I just couldn’t believe all those stories I heard about her in the past. She really seems like a decent person.” Chuka said with a sigh.

“She IS decent. It takes a decent person to feel the way she feels about her lifestyle. There are ladies out there who live that way for fun without giving a damn, but Kim cares.” Eric said, more to himself than to Chuka.

“Take it easy. I didn’t say she isn’t decent. I was just saying… Nevermind.” Chuka quic-kly said when Eric raised a brow at him.

“Anyway, we just talked about random things sha. She didn’t say or do anything inappropriate, and I didn’t see any reason to make any advances either.” Chuka @ssured him, “But are you sure you want to put her to test this way? You alre-ady know this isn’t her very strong point, trying to test her this way isn’t being fair to her, you know?” Chuka pointed out.

“You think I’m doing this because I want to see if she would have S-x with you? I’ll be straight with you on this because you’re like my best friend…”

“Wait! What is the ‘like’ doing there? Can’t you just say I’m your best friend? Or is there someone else?” Chuka asked with a scowl.

Eric looked at him, and just shook his head, “As I was saying, this has nothing to do with S-x. I just want to see if she’s going to choose you over me because of money or not. It is possible for her to sleep with you because it’s her weakness, but still want to be with me because she likes me. I want her to choose me…”

“Eric, to be very honest with you, you’re not ma-king any s-en-se to me. You haven’t even told her you love her yet, and as far as she is concerned you both are in a fake marriage arrangement. So HOW can you expect her to even consider you if I should tell her I’m in love with her right now?” Chuka asked incredulously.

“Yesterday we discussed this and you were okay with the plan, so what changed?” Eric pointed out.

“My feelings about her changed. I like her. I didn’t know she was going to be that likeable, but I like her. Do you even have any idea how h@rd she tried not to make eye contact with me or get into awkward subjects relating to S-x? I really think you’re not being fair to her, and if she was my sister I would beat you up for trying to do this.” Chuka said, feeling sorry for Kimberly.

“I don’t know what this is about, but I agree with whatever your friend is saying.” Wumi said as she walked into the living room flashing them both a smile.

“What took you so long?” Eric asked Wumi before looking at Chuka, “You should recognize my sister Wumi, Wumi you know my friend Chuka.” Eric did the introductions.

“Wow! You look absolutely gorgeous!” Chuka said as he stood up to shake her.

“I’m sure you know I’ve always been gorgeous. Anyway, it’s good to meet you again. You don’t look so bad yourself.” Wumi said, reminding him of the couple of times they had met while Eric was in school. Herself and her mother had visited them a couple of times.

Chuka chuckled, “Thanks.”

“So what were you both talking about?” Wumi asked as she dropped on Eric’s l@p and sniffed his n£¢k, “I’ve missed you.” She said ma-king Eric chuckle as he pushed her away.

“Shift! I’m a married man now, you can’t be doing that.” He told her playfully.

“That’s why you don’t have my time again nau. You forget I’m your first girlfriend.” She said with a playful pout before taking his gl@ss of jui-ce and sipping from it.

“Kim is not my girlfriend, she is my wife. And I don’t want side chics.” Eric said as he slid his arm around her shoulder, “How have you been though? And what was that nons-en-se you were talking about a foreigner b©yfri£nd? You were kidding, right?” He asked hopefully.

“I was actually serious. Don’t worry though, he plans on visiting Nigeria soon, you will definitely meet him.” Kimberly @ssured him with a bright smile.

Chuka watched them both in amusement and shook his head. He was sure this kind of sibling love only happened in wealthy homes. He couldn’t imagine his sister sitting on his l@p, else he would use pepper eye to throw her out of the window.

Chuka cleared his throat after some time, “So let’s conclude. Are you sure you want to go ahead with this? I’m saying this because it could backfire. And when she finds out and gets mad at you I’m not going to join you in apologizing to her o.” He warned.

“What are you both doing?” Wumi asked looking from one to the other, and then listened as Chuka filled her in on what Eric wanted them to do.

“If she is as decent as you paint her, then I see no reason you should be trying to test her. Besides, I think she likes you. She looks at you like she is alre-ady in love with you.” Wumi said, remembering the look on Kimberly’s face that day at the fast-food.

“Last night she said she wants Prisca to continue meeting with you in her stead.” Eric said with a sigh.

“You see what I’m saying? She is trying to be careful, so st©p ma-king things difficult for her. But this Prisca girl, who is she? Is she single?” Chuka asked with a grin.
**********

Amaka walked into a restaurant and looked around until her eyes rested on the young man she had come to meet. He had said he would be dressed in a long sleeved gray shi-t and blue trou-ser. Herl-ips curved in a smile as she slowly approached him. Today she was dressed in a black jeans trou-ser and a yellow polo shi-t with a black face cap to match. She wanted to look as simple and ordinary as possible so that this wouldn’t be traced back to her in anyway in case this go sour.

“Hi! I’m the person that called you, you’re Kingsley, right?” She asked, ma-king the young man who had been busy with his phone raise his head.

He looked her over and smiled at her when he decided he liked what he saw, “Yes I am. I guess you’re Joy?”

“Yes. It’s good to see you.” Amaka said as she took the other empty seat on his table. She had lied about almost everything about herself, and had even taken off her wedding ring just for this meeting.

“Do you care for anything?” He asked curiously.

“Not at all. I learnt you and your friends were banned from the club, is that true?” She asked, ma-king the friendly smile disappear from his face.

“How did you know that?”

“Well, I doubt it’s a secret, but then again, I have my ways. Same way I got your number.” Amaka said with a mischievous smile.

That had been very easy since he was a regular at the club. She had gone there the previous day to ask about him since his name had been on the gossip blogs, but she had been told he was had been banned from the club so she couldn’t see him. She had asked for whoever had his number and had even given them a ti-p before one of them finally gave her his number.

“What do you want? I don’t suppose you like me is the reason you called, or is it?” He asked in a suspicious tone.

Amaka could tell his pride had been hurt a lot by what happened at the club. She could imagine the embarr@ssment and humiliation that must have caused him, “Let’s just say, watching that cli-p, I felt your pain. You didn’t deserve to be humiliated that way because of a promiscuous bit-ch like Kimberly.” Amaka said ma-king him look at her suspiciously.

“You know her?”

Amaka sm-irked, “Who doesn’t know her with her record? She snatched my first love. You can’t imagine the kind of heart ache I’ve suffered because of that girl.” Amaka said with a sigh.

“Do you know who the guy is? Her husband I mean.” He asked Amaka who quic-kly shook her head.

If she told him who Eric really was, then he wouldn’t do what she wanted him to do out of fear, because he would know Eric was way high above him in the ladder, and could even make his father lose his job if Eric’s family so much as felt offended by him, “No. I’m sure he’s just a golddigger after her money. He just did that to win her favour. Who knows how much she might reward him with for standing up for her that way? Maybe that’s why she married him in the first place, who knows?” Amaka asked with a shrug.

Kingsley looked at her doubtfully, but nodded after a while. It made s-en-se that Eric was a nob©dy. Why would anyone of social importance @ssociate themselves with a bit-ch like Kimberly, talk more of marrying her? Besides if Eric was anything important he was certain the people at the club would have said something. He was sure Kimberly’s father had probably been responsible for his being banned from the club.

“I’m sure she was looking down on you was the reason she refused to have S-x with you like she did with your friends.” Amaka said, wanting to add salt to his injury so he would be very angry at Kimberly.

“But I’m better than my friends. I’m even richer than them and more good looking.” Kingsley said defensively.

“Well, a girl wants what she wants, I suppose. But you know what? I think you should get back at her and her husband.” Amaka said, lowering her voice.

“Get back at them? How?” He asked in confusion.

“Don’t tell me you intend to forgive them and let them go after that humiliation you faced? I cringed when I was watching the cl!pand felt so ashamed on your behalf. Heaven knows if you were my brother, I would have dealt with them both mercilessly!” Amaka hissed maliciously.

“Why are you here talking to me about them when we aren’t even friends?” He asked, wanting to know the true intent behind what she was saying.

“Did you miss what I said earlier? She snatched my first love from me, and that makes her my enemy. And I’m sure after what they put you throu-gh, you’re not feeling friendly towards them either.” Amaka explained.

“Oh! The enemy of your enemy is your best friend.” He surmised.

“Exactly! So why don’t you teach them a lesson on our behalf?” She asked with an evil smile.

“Do you have anything in mind?” He asked, leaning forward in an evil gleam in his eyes too.

“Sure I do. I will tell you all about it once I’ve put everything in place. And then you can have all the fun you want to have with her.” Amaka promised with a wicked smile.

It wasn’t like she was doing anything bad anyway. Kimberly was definitely going to enjoy having S-x with Kingsley since she was promiscuous in nature. Her name being on the blogs for indecency also wasn’t going to be a new thing either, since it was something they were all beginning to get used to. The news would spre-ad, and then it would also cease as always when a bigger scandal from a major celebrity comes up.

She loved Kimberly of course and had no h@rd feelings towards her step daughter. She was only doing all of this to separate her from Eric. Once Eric was out of the picture she would go back to being a decent step mother.

“I like you alre-ady.” He said with a wi-de smile, sliding his hands from the table to her l@p and ru-bbing it softly.

Even though Amaka felt like sl@pping his hand off her l@p, she didn’t. She needed him to make this happen, and she was going to do whatever it takes to make it happen. Good thing was he was good looking, so having a younger man than her husband plea-sure her, wouldn’t be such a bad idea.
