CHAPTER 15….🥺🥺
PART 1…💔🔥
After Jayden left, she couldn’t stop the tears that flowed from her eyes. She saddened by the turn of events. She felt like the most unfortunate human being in the world.
She remembered when they was once happiness in her family. But everything came crashing down with the death of her father. Her life was like a mini hell. But her mom never allowed her to feel it. She provided her with everything she had. She gave her love of both a mother, a father and a sister. She was her world.
But now, all because of her, her mother was suffering. She couldn’t even imagine what she was going through. She knew she would be trying to gather money to get a lawyer to help her. And she knew it would be quite difficult too. She didn’t like the fact that her mother going through all these for her sake. In fact she didn’t mind staying here as long as her wasn’t suffering. But I guess she was far from her wish.
Mira waited and waited for hours pacing up and down wondering when her mom would be back. She didn’t even care whether how mom came back with a lawyer, all she wanted was to see her.
“Would you stop pacing around, it’s distracting” a female police said to her and she stopped .
“Oh sorry” Mira couldn’t help it, she was feeling restless like as if her mom wasn’t okay.
She could only pray she was…
“Here… eat this” a plate of food was passed through the space in the cell.
Mira stared at the food, she couldn’t even tell what it was. It kinda looked like soup only that the onions and vegetables were chopped so big that it was made to look a food for animals . The water used to make it was so plenty. It was kinda a watery soup. Even it wasn’t worthy to be called soup. She didn’t know what to call it.
‘ I thought prisons has better services such as good toiletries and food and bed. I guess I was wrong”..
Right from childhood, on films, those in prison had so much enjoyment. Good and clean sparkling place . Bed, toilet and good food. What else could anyone asked for. On television, prisoners lived a comfortable life only that they were in isolation. That must have been their punishment for their crime.
And that’s what Mira expected but that’s not what she was receiving. She was in prison like those in seen in Indian movies or phillipine movies….
So much for expecting.
“No thanks am not hungry” seeing the food made her lose appetite.
“Suit yourself” the police shrugged and left the food there and went away.
Pushing the food to the very end corner of the wall, she sat down back on the floor.
“Please may I know what the time says?” She asked the nearest police officer near her cell.
“8:00pm”..
‘jeez, how did time run so fast’ she thought.
It was so unbelievable that her mom wasn’t back by now to see her.
Now she was worried. Ever since she left this morning, she had been feeling quite restless.
Now she could only lie down and rest and wait for what tomorrow holds.

Heavy breathing and sweating, she jerked up from her sleep. She placed her hand on her chest. Her heart was beating so fast.
She had the most terrible dream..her mom was being chased by thugs and they caught up to her, surrounded her and beat her up. She fainted and a few days later she died and that was when Mira woke up.
“What kind of a dream is that?” She had to make her heart stop beating. She couldn’t see anything except darkness . She was now scared. Scared, hungry and lonely.
Curling herself, she hugged her knees and placed her head on her knees crying.

Mira couldn’t get a single sleep through out the night. She spent the night, awake and in tears. She didn’t move from her position only that she placed her head between her knees .
Her eyes were already quite red and all she could hear was the rumbling her stomach and the beats of her heart. She was just far away..nowhere conscious of her surrounding. She didn’t even know when daylight came back.
“Miss, someone is here to see you” Mira didn’t even hear what she said.
“Mira”…a thick voice sounded in her head breaking her trance .
Slowly she looked up at the man in front of her cell.
Tall, slightly slender but still built and he was sooooo handsome.
“Huh”…

CHAPTER 15 PART 2 AND CHAPTER 16…💔💞

CHAPTER 15.. 💞
…….PART 2…..
He stared at the girl as she raised her head up and looked at him. Her blue eyes were so sad and red. She had been crying. It was pretty obvious. He couldn’t help but pity her a little. The way she looked at. They just looked at each other before she turned her head away looking at the other side.
Now that he saw her, he had no doubts that she was the one her mother was referring too. She took after her looks except the eyes. That must have been something she inherited from her dad.
“Seems like she’s not interested in seeing me!” Mr Lockhart said more to himself but the officer heard it.
“We can leave if you…” Before he completed his statement, Mr Lockhart was already leaving.
“So you said you arrested her for theft, am I right?” He asked in deep thoughts.
“Yes Mr Lockhart” the officer answered as they reached his desk and took their respective seats.
“Hmmm, you arrested her yesterday?”
“Yes” …
The officer was already confused at why he was questioning him like this.
Why will a business tycoon be interested in a poor girl like that one?
Or did he know her?
The officer shook off those thoughts. If she was in fact related to him in one way or the other, then she wouldn’t have slept in the cell yesterday.
“Can she be bailed out?” He finally said after moments of silence.
“Yes she can. I believe that’s what her mother went to look for. A lawyer who would help appeal for bail” the officer added and studied Mr Lockhart still wondering what he was thinking.
“Alright” .
He got out his cellphone and dailed a number.
“Hello, Mr Chris. Yes …its me…I need you”

Mr Lockhart waited patiently for the lawyer to arrive. But he came an hour later.
“Sorry am late sir. ” Mr Chris the lawyer apologize.
Mr Lockhart explained the predicament to him and he assured him that he will have the girl released on bail.
“And I don’t care what’s the cost may be. Just appeal to the court for her release. Before dark”…he told the lawyer strictly.
“You have nothing to worry Mr Lockhart. I’ll have it done as quickly as I can”..
“Good”.
The lawyer collected the documents concerning Mira and left.
Just as soon as he left, a call came in.
“Sir, the doctor is done examining her” Lucas said and paused in his words.
“And?” Wanting him to continue…
“And…and..I think you should come here”.
Without wasting much time he hurried to the car and Thomas sped to the hospital.

Getting down from the cat, he quickly rushed and entered the hospital and saw Lucas standing in the hallway looking discern. He slowed down and walked slowly to where Lucas stood .
“What is it ? How is she?” He immediately asked and the tensed Lucas looked at him and nudged him to go the doctors office.
He sighed and knocked softly on the door..
“come in.”
He stepped into her office and immediately took his seat.
“Am glad you came here as quickly as you could. Erm…the patient you brought earlier on today, am afraid she has a neurological disorder” the doctor said.
“I don’t understand doctor. What do you mean?” He asked. Lucas and Thomas into the office too.
The doctor glanced at Lucas and he gave her a small nod indicating for her to go on.
“Well, we ran some test on her and we discovered that she has a large amount of cocaine in her body”…
“Huh”…..

CHAPTER 16….💔
“huh” right now, Mr Lockhart was utterly confused. The woman didn’t looked like someone who was a hærd drug taker.
“I believe it was injected into her body. There are two needle mark on her upper arm which were slightly bleeding and it was taken care of . That could also lead to infection” the doctor added.
“Doc, I don’t believe the woman takes hærd drugs” Mr Lockhart said and the doctor could only nod.
“Is she badly affected by the cocaine?”.
“Well, for now I would like to say no. Although, she had been giving a huge dose of Cocaine, this would only affect temporarily. But right now she has abnormalities in the brain which is kind of strange” the doctor informed them.
“Why doc?” Lucas asked.
“Well as we all know, cocaine is a stimulant. It makes a person feel high and energetic before a person starts to feel the after effect. But in her case, it did the complete opposite which is very rare. Rather than making her energetic, I believe all her energy was drained. This was the reason she collapsed earlier. And because it couldn’t do it job properly, it affect her blood system making her cough blood”…
Right now, everyone in her office looked so confused. Why wouldn’t they be? No one really understood what she was saying.
The doctor smiled and took of her glasses. “Am trying to say, that right now she’s very weak. And I believe the reason is because she was already stressed out before she was injected. The stress had already affect her and the cocaine worsened it.”…she concluded.
Although Mr Lockhart wasn’t as confused as before, but Lucas and Thomas were forever confused.
“Can I see her?” He asked softly.
“Hmm, sure you can” after being given permission,he stood up and entered the room she was kept in.
She was currently unconscious and the doctor were trying hærd to drain much cocaine out of her body.
He couldn’t even move to go closer to her bed. He stood rooted to the ground unable to move. He felt touch seeing her like this. He couldn’t even imagine his own mother in this condition. And he didn’t even want to imagine how Mira would take it.
“Ouch. So sad” Lucas said and they all left the room.
“What are you going to tell the girl about her mother?” Lucas asked but Mr Lockhart didn’t answer.
He didn’t answer because he didn’t even know what he would tell her. He remembered those tearful eyes of hers and he couldn’t even imagine how they’ll Look by the time she finds her mother in this condition.
And he certainly didn’t want to find out. For now , he thought the best thing was for her not to know till her mother recovered.
“Let’s go to the office”

7 hours later..
“Hello, Mr Lockhart, the appeal has been granted. She can be bailed” Mr Chris informed him.
“Oh…that’s good..I’ll meet you in the station”. He said and cut off the call. Tidying his paper work, he left his office. He called Lucas and told him to meet him in the station as soon as he’s done.
It wasn’t closing time yet but he still left. On his way out of the computer, he phoned home and told them to prepare a room.
Hurried to the car and in no time, they arrived at the station.
The lawyer was already there completing the formalities needed and Mira was there standing next to him.

After Mr handsome left with the officer, Mira continued to wallow in her pains. Again, her tummy rumbled with hunger.
“Here have this. If not you will starve yourself to death” the female officer again offered her food. But this time, it was the terrible jail food like last night. This time, she gave mira her breakfast of tea and biscuit.
“But won’t you be hungry? Don’t worry about…” Mira was saying but the officer interrupted.
“No need Mira. I Know your not used to jail food that’s why you couldn’t eat yesterday but at least have this. I can’t you to starve. That would be inhumane of me” the officer stated and Mira smiled at her and happily had the breakfast offered to her.

…….In the evening….
All Mira did through out the day was to Pace up and down in her cell while wondering where her mom was . She also wished Kira was here but then she travelled . She could blame her , although somewhere deep down, she was kinda upset that Kira wasn’t here to comfort her…but it’s alright.
The female officer also tried to keep her company, engaging her in little conversation.
She had come to learn that the woman was a widow like her own mother but she didn’t have any child. And since she didn’t have any child to keep her company, she decided to join the police. Actually, her dreams were to become a lawyer but that didn’t work out as expected. Although Mira asked, the officer didn’t want to talk about it. She called it a painful memory. Just like what Mira was going through. This was a painful memory and she would never forget it.
“I believe you won’t sleep here again tonight” the officer informed her after a long silence.
“Why do you say so?” Just then,a male officer came with the keys to her cell.
“Come out young lady” he said and opened the cell and Mira came out confused but Happy. Finally her mom came to bail her out.
She looked at the female officer who had become her Friend in a day and she gave her a smile. Mira returned the smile and followed the male officer lead.
But when she got the desk of the officer that arrested her, she didn’t see her mom.
‘where’s mom?’ she asked herself

“Have a seat miss” the officer that arrested her said and she took a seat beside a man who she suspected was the lawyer.
“You have been bailed out” the officer announced and mira nodded.
“But where’s my mom?”

He saw everything, right from when she was carried in the car to when she was taken to the hospital. He followed their trail so as not to lose them. He had to find out which hospital she was be taken to.
They drove into the hospital as soon as the gates were opened.
“Ma’am, someone saved the woman and she has been taken to the hospital” he called on phone and told the woman who gave him the work.
“Hmm…as soon as they leave, enter the hospital, look for her room and still give her the dose” she replied back.
“Copied. ” And then the call ended.
