CHAPTER 87… 💙

Mira stood frozen.

She couldn’t speak or move. It felt surreal that Ezekiel would be on his knees proposing to her. It was like a dream come true literally.

She stared at him confused.

He had done so much for her and her mom. He paid her fees in school. She was literally indebted to him.

But her feelings for him, Mira knew deep down that she liked him. No.. in fact she loved him but deep down, she could also feel torments. Something kept telling her to reject him. But she couldn’t understand why and what it was .

Mira sighted Isabella from afar peeping at them along with someone. Her friend maybe.

A smile came on Mira l¡ps. Isabella, she had grown to love her so much and the fact that Isabella had already taken her to be her mom was the best thing that had happened to her.

‘why not make her dreams come true? ‘ Mira subconscious said and Mira looked back at Ezekiel.

“Please don’t reject me” Ezekiel whispered. Mira could see many emotions in his eyes.

” Ever since I saw you in the cell, I couldn’t just get over you. I know… I haven’t ever made a move on you or make it show that I had feelings for you but I did. Over the years, the time we spent together and apart, my feelings for you grew. I hope am not too late to be the one to occupy your heart? ” He asked sincerely looking into her eyes. Mira shook her eyes with tears in them blinding her sight a bit.

Ezekiel got up from his knees and drew her close wiping the tears before pecking her l¡ps .

“Please say yes Mira… Please” he pleaded as he placed his forehead on hers.

Mira closed her eyes in deep thoughts before opening them.

“Yes.. Ezekiel” she whispered.

Ezekiel could feel his heart beating faster with happiness.

“Thank you so much for accepting Mira. I promise to always make you happy” Ezekiel said before planting a k×ss of her l¡ps.

Mira froze for a while but eventually responded.

Then red roses fell on them from only God knew where.

Isabella high fived Mabel who had helped her pour the flowers on them.

She hugged her tightly. Her dreams came through. Her dad was going to marry her mom.

She already knew Mira wasn’t her Mom but she desperately wanted her to be. This flowers showered on them were planned by her and Mabel had helped her.

Isabella saw the ring in his pocket and asked Mabel what it was . Mabel told her it was a wedding ring and Mabel explained what it was used for before Isabella came up with the idea for this.

“We did it” Mable whispered to Isabella who was over Happy at the moment.

Damein folded his fist in anger looking at Ezekiel and Mira k×ssing. He remembered when she first k×ssed him in the hotel when drunk.

He suddenly slammed his fist against the wall.

All he felt was anger . He was angry at Ezekiel and Mira mostly Mira. How could she just accepted his proposal without thinking twice.

She didn’t even consider him. She just accepted.

He felt his heart shattered at the sight of them.

“I’ll never let you get married .. never”

**LAYLA’S RESIDENCE***

Layla grabbed another bottle from the cellar and walked back to the sitting room and fixed her eyes on the TV. She was watching a reality show WAGS butbher mind wasn’t even there.

She knew many employees would be in the mansion celebrating Isabella’s birthday. It has always been her wish to see the mansion. In fact to enter it. And Isabella’s birthday was the perfect opportunity till Mira destroyed it.

She sighed frustratedly before taking a sip from the drink in her hand.

Then suddenly she heard the door bell.

“who could it be by this time?” Layla asked herself. She quickly checked the time..Half past ten.

It was too late for someone to be knocking on her door. She suddenly grew scared. What if it’s a kidnapper or armed robber?

The knocking persisted and Layla gathered up courage to stand up from the couch. She grabbed a mop stick and went to the door slowly. She hid the stick behind the door holding tightly, ready to attack as she opened the door.

She was surprised when she saw a young girl standing in front of her

“Who are you?” She hoped it wasn’t someone who was seeking refuge as she didn’t want to accommodate anybody .

“May i come in? It’s quite late yunno” the young girl said and Layla looked at her reluctantly before allowing her in.

“What do you want?” Layla asked as the young girl examined the house.

“Nice house. But it ain’t better than Mira’s apartment” the girl said and Layla’s eyes w¡dened.

How does she know Mira and her are connected?

“Who are you?” Layla asked ignoring her statement.

” Am Sophie. You were fired cause of her right?” Sophie asked and Layla’s eyes w¡dened again.

“How do you know that?” She asked obviously shocked.

“I just know. I have a offer for you. Will you like to get your revenge on her?” Sophie asked staring straight at Layla.

” Yes. I hate her to my guts. She has taken everything away from me” Layla said gritting her teeth.

” Good. I’ll pay you 50 thousand dollars if you do what I say. Are you in or not?” Sophie asked and Layla looked at her skeptically.

” How do I know this ain’t scam? Who are you anyway?”

“My identity doesn’t matter. Just do as I say and you’ll get paid. Someone too wants to get rid of her. We just need your help” Sophie explained slowly and Layla was silent thinking about it before nodding.

“Good” Sophie said with a wide smile.

“Kira wait” Dylan kept on calling before Kira stopped at the balcony.

“What do you want?” She shouted facing him.

“I…I…just want to talk….” He said panting.

“Why? Why did you lie to me? Why didn’t you look for me? You knew I was here right?” She akeed tears escaping her eyes.

” No i didn’t. Trust me …I just found out too like you did. ” He explained walking to her slowly.

” I should trust you?…you used me …you ditched me for no reason at all.. you hurt my feelings too.. how could you?” She yelled hitting his chest. But he Just covered up the remaining space between them and hugged her.

Kira wanted to pull out but she couldn’t. He was too strong for her. But she didn’t hug him back.

“I missed you so much. Am sorry for hurting you. I didn’t mean all those words I said ” He apologized and confessed and pulled away from the hug before cleaning her tears.

“Tell me why you did it” she demanded immediately looking at him. But he looked away .

“Am sorry I can’t tell you but trust me..it’s for a good reason” he explained trying to hold her face but she slapped his hands off.

” Why should I trust you again?” She asked more tears flowing from her eyes.

” What should I do to make you trust me?” He asked cleaning her tears.

” Marry me Liam” she said and his hand froze . He looked at her before dropping his hand from her face.

“I can’t. Your dad won’t accept me. I don’t want to create enemity between you two” he said softly. He was about to leave when she hugged him

“Then we’ll elope. I don’t care anymore”

“But I do.”

” Get a new job Liam. Am sure he will accept you if you did” she said releasing him.

” I can’t also”

” Why?” She yelled again
She was thinking of solution for them but he was rejecting all her ideas.

“Because I owe Damien my life” he yelled back and Kira stepped back. Scared and confused.

Liam has never yelled at her before.

“What do you mean?” She asked . He sighed running his hand through his hair.

” I wasn’t joking when I said my parents died just after I was born. A family took me in. They didn’t have any child. They were newly wedded. So they showered me with all the love but soon they did and then , they loved their child more than me. They hated me to their guts. They literally turned me to a servant. They didn’t feed nor clothe me anymore. I was suffering and suffocating with them” he paused and looked away from Kira . Tears were gradually filling his eyes.

“I couldn’t take it anymore so I ran away. I lived on the streets for years stealing and begging to survive. One day…i stole from a mafia Lord. He caught me. And ordered me to be killed. His boys, they had already beaten me up mercilessly. I was half dead already. Just when they were about to pull the trigger and plant multiple bullets in me, Damien saved me. I don’t know how he did it though. I only saw him coming to my aid when I passed out”

” I woke up and found myself in the Lockharts mansion. They treated me with love that I didn’t get from childhood. They took me as their own. I owe Damien my life Kira. I promised myself to protect him to my last breath. I vowed Kira. I can’t break it” he said wiping his tears and turned his back on her. Kira stood there in tears. She wasn’t aware of what he passed through.

“Just marry Tristan like your dad said Kira” he said and was walking out.

” So I should give your child to another man?” Kira said and he froze turning to look at her .

” What do you mean by that?” He said turning to look at her.

“Am pregnant….Liam”

Mira found her way to Isabella who was discussing with her friends. She had to leave Ezekiel cause he said he had something important to do.

She couldn’t stop smiling and staring at the ring in her finger.

“Can’t wait to tell the girls tomorrow” she giggled thinking about how they’ll react when they hear it. She also wondered what her mom will say or do.

She found Isabella and brought out from where her friends were before bringing out the box her mom had given her to give Isabella. Since her mom wasn’t going to attend the party.

“Grandma gave you a gift” Mira said bending down to her little height.

” Really?” She asked happily. She had already seen Mira’s mother a couple of times and they were already close.

“Yes . Now close your eyes” Mira said and giggled when Isabella did what she said. She opened the box and saw a necklace. No… A Locket. Mira quickly placed it on Isabella neck before Isabella opened her eyes. She felt the necklace.

“What’s this?” She asked still feeling it.

“A Locket. See for yourself” she brought her to see her reflection on the glass wall and Isabella gasped.

“It’s beautiful. Tell Grandma I said I love it” she said hugging Mira and Mira laughed.

” Ofcourse I will” Isabella pulled away and ran to show her friends the gift.

Mira watched her with smiles as she showcased it proudly. She left leaving Isabella alone.

She was checking her fingers still staring at the ring as she walked down the hallway. There was no one else but she was too busy to notice.

Before she knew it,a hand holding a handkerchief covered her nose. Mira struggled to break free but couldn’t and soon she lost consciousness.

A ray of sunlighy shun on her face as she opened her eyes slowly. She held her head feeling slifht headache.

Her eyes adjusted to her surrounding but she couldn’t decipher where she was.

She opened her eyes fully to find people staring at her.

“Boss, she’s awake”
