CHAPTER 61….. 💙

“YOUR PREGNANT”. Both Mira and Anna exclaimed in unison.

“What.. you guys are crazy.. how can … No… Am not” Kira wanted to deny but lets out a nervous laugh which blew her out.

“For a lawyer, your quite a terrible liar” Anna said before leaving the bathroom.

” Kira tell us the truth. What happened?”
Mira asked extremely worried. How can Kira keep something so important from there?….she was carrying a child ….this isn’t a little matter at all.

“It’s nothing. You guys are just over exaggerating. I mean, anything can cause vomiting” Kira explained and rinse her mouth. She wasn’t feeling better in any way yet.

“Really!” Anna asked entering the bathroom and showed her the pregnancy kit in her hand.

“This was found in your bag and it clearly says positive” Anna explained.

‘shit…I knew they’ll find it’ Kira cursed in her mind.

“This…” Kira said swiftly taking it from Anna’s hand. “It’s not mine okay”

“Why are you still denying it?.. we are your friends aren’t we? Tell us the truth Kira” Mira said annoyed already.

Kira backed them while Mira and Anna waited to see what she’ll do next or say. Before they knew it, Kira bursted into tears.

“Kira, what’s wrong?” Anna asked as both of them rushed and held her. Gently they moved to the room and this time Mira went to get another glass of water while Anna patted her soothingly to stop crying.

Mira came back with the water and handed it over to Kira who drank just a little and dropped it. Then almost immediately, she got up again and rushed to the bathroom to vomit again.

After a while, she came back and sat on the bed and wiped her face with a face towel.

“Are you okay?” Mira asked her while smoothing her hair. Kira nodded and without further ado, Anna started questioning.

“Kira, how did this happen? What’s going on? ” Anna asked and sat on the other side of Kira .

Taking a deep breath, Kira contemplated on how she would start to answer her questions.

“Yes, am pregnant” Kira finally confirmed. “Am two months pregnant” Mira and Anna gasped hearing this.

” What.. how….when…did it happen?” Anna asked surprised.

Kira didn’t know how she would answer that. In order to answer that question, Kira would have to tell them who the father of her child is and how everything had happened.

Maybe this is what she should have done a long time ago.. she should let them know when everything was happening. But she was scared.

“Anna calm down” Mira said. ” Kira , take your time and explain everything to us . Please”

Taking another deep breath, she continued.

“I just found out a week ago. I didn’t expect this to happen. I was careless. ” Kira lamented as she felt tears filling her eyes once more.

” Kira…go on” Mira urged.

” And…and…am getting married next month” Kira dropped the shocker.

“What?” Mira and Anna exclamied again.

” How come…Kira what’s going on??..we are so confused now?”

“How can you just wake up and plan your marriage to take place next month. It doesn’t make sense”

This was the worst news that they had heard. What’s wrong?

” I didn’t plan this. My mom and dad somehow found about my pregnancy by having me monitored and now…now they’re forcing me to marry against my will” Kira explained in a rush.

” Why don’t you just Sue them?” Anna said and both Mira and Kira looked at her like as if she had said something wrong.

“I can’t do that. They are my parents. They have every right to choose a man for me” Kira said calmly.

” Yes. But they shouldn’t be forcing you into a marriage” anna said snapped

“Can you sue your parents for making you to marry a man you didn’t love” Kira snapped back at her annoyed.

Ofcourse Anna couldn’t do such so she just kept quiet.

“But wait..how did you get the pregnancy in the first place?” Mira asked the more important question.

Another deep breath, Kira looked at them before saying..

“a year ago……”

★★★A YEAR AGO★★★
Kira came back joyfully and Happy from school today. Today was quite awesome. After school, she Mira and Anna went out together to the park and it was lots of fun. Soon their final exam would start and they wanted to make the best of the remaining 5 months that they will seeing each other. After that, they would be placed in different states to finish their course which would last for another 5 months.

1 months remaining to the D-day when they wouldn’t see each other again for 5 months. Right now she would seriously miss her friends.

As soon as she got down from the car, she ran to the her room. And quickly took off her clothes and entered the shower.

While in the shower,some one had come to knock on her door.

“Miss Kira” her maid called out a

Such a wrong timing, she had just rubbed soap on her face and hair

“Yes” Kira managed to answer making sure she didn’t open her eyes.

“Your father request your presence downstairs” the maid passed on the message.

” Hmmmm…. Tell him I’ll be there soon” Kira answered and the maid left.

Kira gr–ned, that’s because she knew why her father was calling her. Truth is, she had been avoiding him all week so that he won’t bring up her most dreaded topic.

She didn’t want to talk about it or have the topic brought up. She was ready for what he was asking her.

As soon as she was done bathing,she quickly dressed up and went downstairs to find her dad and mom in the sitting room. Her mother looked worried while her dad had no Expression on his face.

“This must be serious” she muttered to herself. Mustering courage, she went to where they were both sitted asn sat beside her mom.

“Good day mom and dad” she greeted and they both nodded.

“You called ?” She turned to her dad.

“Yes. ” Her dad paused and cleared his throat. ” You do know that you’re our only daughter right?” He asked and Kira nodded.

” Not only that. Your also the only child. And I…your father..am a business tycoon with a very large company. You are aware right?” He asked again. Kira first looked at her mom unsure of where this conversation was heading to before nodding.

“And you must also be aware that I have so many landed properties and firms, not only in this country but in other countries right?

“Yes Dad. I know all this. I know we are filthy rich. But why all the questions? ” Kira asked impatient.

” We are getting to that. Your aware we are rich but are you aware that as my only child, you will inherit Everything but you will need a male figure to do that? ”
He asked.

” Dad….. ” Kira finally realized where he was headed. She was right after all. He was bringing up that topic once again.

“Take a look at these photos” he said and passed down an envelope with pictures in it to her mom who handed it over to Kira.

Kira looked at it first before opening the envelope. She brought out the pictures of a man. Well dressed in suit.. probably rich. Young though. With a nice stature. But Kira wasn’t interested in these.

After gazing at all of them which were the pictures of one man only, she turned to her father and asked… ” Who is this?”

“That’s the man you will marrying soon”

CHAPTER 62…. 🤲

“that’s the man you will be getting married to soon” her father said as a matter of fact.

” What? ” Kira exclaimed and dropped the envelope hastily. “I can’t do that”

“Kira calm down and listen to your father” her mom pleaded.

” No mommy. I can’t believe your supporting dad on this” Kira shouted in disbelief.

” Will you keep your voice down young lady” her dad commanded and Kira kept quiet.

” Fine but I will not agree to this. Am not Ready for marriage dad” she said a bit more calm.

” You don’t have to be ready. You will get married anyway” Kira jaws dropped hearing that.

” Dad, please don’t do this. Am not ready for this. My mates are focusing on studies…I mean look at Mira….and”

” Stop comparing yourself to Mira. She is an orphan..” her dad cuts in.

” Dad.” Kira yelled. How can he say that about Mira?..” she has a mother”

“I don’t care. As for your studies, he won’t affect your studies. You will be getting married as soon as your done with your course next year. But this year, you will be engaged” her dad state. ” You will get married and that’s final”.. This got Kira so angry that she got up.

” I will not get married and that’s…. My final answer” Kira said with finality in her voice and walked away.

” How dare you walk out on me??” Her dad said and stood up but Kira didn’t stop in her tracks.

Her mom become agitated.

“Kira” …Kira still ignored. Almost near the steps when she heard her dad..

“Kira…will…you…arrrggghh” her dad s¢ræmed in pain. She stopped and turned around to see her mom struggling to hold her father who was collapsing.

“Stephen ….help” her mom shouted their Butler name.

Kira quickly rushed to help her mom carry her dad but her dad pushed her hand away forcely and then their Butler and guard helped carried him to his room

The doctor was called to examine him. While the rest of them waited outside. Kira felt scared but she comforted her mom who looked dead worried.

“Pls get water for her” she told her maid who went to fetch water for her mom.

“Hear” she handed her mom the glass of water. While drinking it, the doctor came out with a non friendly look.

“Doctor, how’s he?” Her mom asked immediately.

“Am afraid his Condition has worsen. He has a lesser lifespan than I diagnosed. I can’t really tell now for how long he’ll live” the doctor said and tears rolled from Kira’s eyes.

“Mom, what is he talking about? Which condition does Dad have? I don’t understand” she said with tears choking her voice. She looked at her mom who was also in tears waiting for an explanation.

“Kira you have to eat” her mom tapped her and said. It was already night and her dad was still asleep. She kept on recalling the words the doctor’s words.

‘His condition has worsen’

‘….. Lesser lifespan… ‘

‘… Can’t really tell for how long he’ll live.. ‘

These words kept resounding in her head over and over again. Her dad was slowly dieing and it hurt her to know that.

But what hurt even more was the fact that no one told her about this. Not even her mom.

“What’s happening to dad?” She asked instead ignoring what her mom had just said. Her mom took a deep breath before taking a seat near her.

“Your dad has cancer. Cancer of the blood” her mom explained in a low voice. Tears were already filling her eyes. She turned to face her mom.

“Cancer?” She asked again as though she hadn’t just heard what she said.

Her mom nodded.

“Yes.. we found out early this year. He has been diagnosed of Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML). It affects his breathing most of the time and that’s what happened today” her mom said with the tears still flowing. “The doctor diagnosed that it couldn’t be cure but managed to an extent since it was at its last stage and your dad had less than 2 years to live”

” Why didn’t anyone tell me about it?” Kira asked torn up on the in,side.

” Your dad and I didn’t want you worry. We wanted you to focus on your studies” her mom said turning to her and taking Kira’s hand.

“How could you two think that?”

“We’re sorry my dear. ” Her mom said and couldn’t help her tears anymore. Kira hugged her mom as both of them cried together.

” When your dad found out about this…” Her mom started when her tears had reduced..” he wanted you to get married. That’s why he had told you to look for a man for yourself. But you didn’t” her mom paused and looked into her daughter’s teary eyes.

“He wanted to see his baby girl in a wedding dress. He wanted to walk you down the aisle personally. He wanted to see you happy with the man of your choice and if God permits him, he wanted to hold his grandchildren” her mom making Kira feel even more guilty and tearful.

” But you didn’t. So that why he found one for you. He doesn’t want to force you into an unhappy marriage. He just wants to see his little princess in her own wedding dress. He wanted to experience the happiness of a father watching his only daughter getting married” her mom said and wiped her tears and Kira’s own .

” Don’t cry my angel. Can’t you grant your dad his last wish before he leaves us?” Her mom asked keenly and Kira nodded before bursting into a fresh round of tears.

………. ★A FEW WEEKS LATER★……..
KIRA was ready to go out and hang with Mira and anna and tell them what was happening but then , opening the door, it seemed like it was locked from outside.

“Heyy, hello.. is someone there??? Am locked in,side” Kira shouted banging the door. She shouted and kick but no one came to her rescue.

Outside the door were Kira’s parents. Kira’s mom could feel her heart breaking hearing Kira shouting for the door to be opened.

She was tempted to go and unlock the door when her husband held her

“It is for her own good” he said.

“But, she has already agreed to marry him for your sake. Don’t you trust your own daughter? ” She asked tearfully.

” I do. But I can’t take any chances” he replied. ” You two” he called two guard.” Go in there and get me her phone”
…………..
Kira was dialling Mira and waiting for her to pick up when someone snatched her phone from her hand.

“Heyy.. what are you doing?” She yelled.

“Am sorry miss but it’s orders from your father. You won’t be with your phone till further notice” they said to her.

” Hello”Mira voiced could be heard on the phone. She had already picked up but then, the guard holding her phone cuts the call.

“Gimme me back my phone” she wanted to snatch it back but the other guard holds her still while the one with her phone leaves.

“Am sorry miss” the guard holding her finally let’s go of her and leave too

“What the heck is going on??”

Don’t blame Kira’s dad🥺… He has his own reasons. Every parent has their reasons for forcing their child/children on something ❣️🌹😞
