Jayden’s penthouse!

Cassandra bumped into Kelvin on her way out, making him gro-n, but she didn’t stop to check if he was wounded,,, she simply muttered a small sorry and rushed out.

Kelvin frowned, he wondered why she’s leaving in a such a hurry.

He heard Jayden cleared his throat which meant he (Jayden) has seen him, he quickly too long str-de towards the dinning area.

“Good morning, Mr Grassi” Kelvin greeted Jayden with a small bow.

“Hm” Jayden replied him with a hum.

He sat down, he stared at the unfinished food on the table, then fixed his gaze on the direction Cassandra just rushed off.

“Sir, I just saw Cassandra rushing,,,”

Kelvin tilted his head slightly and swallowed his words, when his eyes met his boss’s glaring eyes.

“It’s Miss Maldonado to you!” Jayden corrected him.

He frowned slightly, when he noticed some anger seeping through his boss’s words.

This made him wondered even more, what has transpired between them (Jayden and Cassandra). He cleared his throat.

“Yes, sir”

Jayden eyed him for a few moments, before turning his gaze back to the food,,, although he doesn’t looked like he wanna continue eating, he’s already lost his appetite.

“I just saw Miss Maldonado rushing out, is everything ok?” Kelvin asked.

“Yes” Jayden gave him a curt reply.

“Oh”

Jayden’s curt reply was indirectly warning Kelvin not to ask any further, as if he could read Jayden’s mind, he didn’t ask any further.

“I told you to do a background check on her, is it done yet?”

“Yes, sir”

“What did you find out?”

Kelvin handed some papers to him, he opened it and glanced through, then frowned.

“We didn’t find much about her, there was no record about her childhood, it started from her teenage”

Kelvin paused and waited for a few comments from Jayden, but he continued when he realized he’s not gonna get any comments.

“She’s lost her parents at a very tender age, but the exact age wasn’t added,,,,she’s being alone since then, she was lucky to meet Brandon White,,, he took her home to his parents who took pity on her and decided to give her shelter,,, ”

At the mentioned of Brandon’s name, Jayden’s grip on the papers tightened, he gritted his teeth and clenched his jaw.

“,,, they’ve always been together since then, that’s all we found out”

“What I wanna know is her relationsh¡p with that brat!” Jayden said.

He slammed the papers on an empty space on the dinning table, he pushed his chair back and got up.

He reached for a napkin, wiped his mouth and hands, before walking towards the living room.

“As to their relationsh¡p, I think they are just friends,,,, ”

“They didn’t look like friends to me yesterday” he cut Kelvin off.

He sat on a sofa and crossed his legs, he reached for a random magazine on the table.

Jayden gro-ned quietly, when he realized he’s just picked his ex-wife’s magazine, but he didn’t drop it,,, after all, he wasn’t gonna read it.

“They were acting as if they’re a couple, did you see the way he was looking at her?” He asked rhetorically.

He frowned deeply, it’s as if he’s replaying the scene at JJ construction, then the scene at JJG nightlife.

“He must have some feelings for her, I bet they’re dating or he’s in love with her” he said.

Kelvin cleared his throat.

“Mr Grassi, I think it’s normal for them to be in a relationsh¡p, they’ve been living together for a long time,,, besides, Brandon was her savior,,,”

“Shut up!” Jayden interrupted him.

He glared at Kelvin a few moments.

“Even if he’s her savior, it doesn’t necessarily mean they should date each other,,, I won’t allow it”

“May I ask why?” Kelvin asked.

Jayden doesn’t know how to reply Kelvin, his eyes were looking around as if he’s looking for the right answer.

“Because they’re my employees”

Kelvin’s brows furrowed, he tilted his head as he’s a bit confused about Jayden’s answer.

“Office rom-nce is not allowed, if I let them date it’s gonna affect their work”

“Office rom-nce is not allowed?”

“No, it’s strictly forbidden”

“But some of the employees are couples, some are husbands and wives, some are engaged,,, how should we do them?”

Jayden glared at Kelvin for bringing that up, he got up and shoved his hands in his pocket.

“Then fire them, they’re all fired!”

“Wh-what? Sir, m-my girlfriend is the receptionist” Kelvin stuttered.

“You’re dating my receptionist? And I didn’t know about it?” Jayden asked through gritted teeth.

Kelvin quickly looked at the floor, as if there’s suddenly something very interesting to watch there.

“You’re so daring, Kelvin, you even hid it from me?”

“No, sir, it’s wasn’t intentional, we just started dating last month”

Jayden scoffed.

“Last month, that’s enough time for you to tell me, but you didn’t,,, she’s fired!”

“Mr Grassi”

“What?! Are you opposing me?!” He asked Kelvin in a daring tone.

Kelvin quickly bowed and shook his head.

“I wouldn’t dare”

Jayden heard his wrist watch beeping, he raised his hand and stared at it, it’s reading 25%.

He closed his eyes, took a deep breath and sat back on the sofa, he waved his hand at Kelvin.

“I’m angry, I don’t understand why” he said.

Kelvin opened his mouth to speak, but Jayden spoke before him.

“I wanna be alone, just leave” he said.

“Yes, sir, but please remember to recharge,,, I’m gonna go clean up the cars”

“Hm” Jayden hummed.

Kelvin gave a respectful bow, his eyes settled on Jayden’s watch before he headed out.

He met Stephen on his way out, he greeted him.

“Good morning, Mr Colbert”

“Kelvin, I’m here to see your boss, is he in?” Stephen asked.

Kelvin glanced behind him, though he couldn’t see Jayden, he sighed softly.

“He’s in,side, but he’s angry and his battery is running out”

“His battery is running out? Is he heading to the charging room already?”

“No, he said he wanted to be alone”

Stephen frowned, he’s thinking of anything that could make Jayden so agitated,,,then his mind flashed back to last night’s event.

“Jayden brought Cassandra home, is she still here? Has she found out about his heart?” Stephen asked with his eyes w¡dened.

“She doesn’t know about his heart yet and she left earlier, she left in a hurry and I believed Mr Grassi’s anger is related to her”

Stephen’s eyes squinted, he wanted to ask more questions but a loud crash came from the living room,,,he rushed towards the sound.

Getting there, he saw Jayden on the floor, he was holding his chest and looked as though he’s short of breath. Stephen faced Kelvin.

“Quick! Go to my car and bring an oxygen mask!”

“Yes, sir” with that Kelvin rushed out.

Stephen bent down and quickly helped Jayden up, he made him (Jayden) sat on the sofa, then rested his head back.

He reached for Jayden’s hand and checked his wrist watch, it’s reading: battery 20%, heartbeat, 89%. He reached in his pocket and pulled out his stethoscope, he quickly checked Jayden’s heartbeat.

He checked Jayden’s wrist watch again, it’s reading: battery 16%, heartbeat 91%.

“Jeez!” He exclaimed, he looked at Jayden in the eyes. “Can you calm down for me a little bit?” Stephen asked.

Jayden closed his eyes and started taking deep breaths, but that didn’t help so much.

“Why did you let yourself get so angry? Are you trying to commit suicide? Don’t you know too much emotion drains your battery?” Stephen scolded him.

Just then Kelvin came back, he handed the oxygen mask to Stephen,,, without wasting time, Stephen wore it on Jayden.

“You’re lucky I was led here by God this morning” he said.

Jayden tried to scoff but couldn’t, he rolled his eyes at Stephen’s words, then started taking deep breaths.

After a few moments, his breath was stabilized and back to normal. He removed the oxygen mask and threw his head back on the chair, he continued taking deep breaths.

“Let me check if your battery is still running” Stephen said.

He reached for Jayden’s wrist and checked it, he released a long sigh.

“Finally, it has stopped” he muttered.

“You’re worrying too much, I wasn’t gonna die” Jayden said.

Stephen tilted his head, then landed a light punch on Jayden’s shoulder, which earned him a glare.

“I’m letting you off because you have only 11% now, do you think I’m a magician?”

Jayden chuckled lightly. “Maybe”

Stephen glared at him.

“Had I arrived here any later, even the most talented doctor can’t save you” he said.

“Fine, fine” Jayden said, he faced Kelvin. “Get me a glass of water”

“Yes, sir” Kelvin replied and rushed out.

There was a brief silence, before Stephen broke it, he cleared his throat.

“Kelvin told me Cassandra left angrily, what happened between you two?”

“Nothing, she just found out about my identity and glared up” Jayden replied.

Stephen nodded thoughtfully.

“Oh, then why were you so angry? To the extent of almost losing your life?”

Jayden twisted his mouth and looked away, he cleared his throat as if there’s a lump hanging in there.

Kelvin came back with the water, he handed it to Jayden, which he gulped down quickly.

“Mr Grassi, I asked you a question” Stephen reminded him.

“I found out something about her, but I doubt it’s the truth”

“What did you find?”

“It’s none of your business” Jayden said firmly, which means he’s not ready to give any further explanation.

Stephen shifted his gaze towards Kelvin, he silently asked Kelvin the question.

“Mr Grassi said Miss Maldonado is Brandon’s girlfriend”

“Miss Maldonado? Who’s that?” Stephen asked with a confused expression.

“It’s Cassandra”

Kelvin replied, he took a sneak peek at Jayden to know if he’s glaring at her,,,he continued when Jayden didn’t react.

“Mr Grassi suspected she’s dating Brandon, so he banned office rom-nce” Kelvin said.

Stephen burst into a fit of laughter at Kelvin’s words, he laughed so hærd that he fell off the sofa and clutch onto his stomach.

He continued laughing for a few more minutes, until he couldn’t continue, then he sat on the sofa and stared at Jayden teasingly.

“Are you done laughing? Why are you staring at me?” Jayden asked.

Stephen reached forward and poked Jayden’s right cheek, Jayden threw him a glare but Stephen doesn’t mind it.

“You’re jealous!” He stated.

“No, I’m not”

“You’re jealous, you almost lost your life because of your jealousy” Stephen said.

Jayden decided not to argue with him, he stayed silent and watch Stephen as he laughed some more.

“You love her, I didn’t know your love for her has gotten so strong”

“I have told you before, I don’t love her” Jayden said.

“You don’t love her? Then why are you getting all worked up because she’s dating someone else?”

“She’s not dating someone else, he’s my staff”

“Oh”

Stephen nodded.

“He’s your staff, but that doesn’t mean he can’t date her,,, they’re in love and it’s normal they are gonna be in a relationsh¡p”

“No! It’s not normal, I won’t allow office rom-nce!” He snapped.

Stephen smirked, it seemed as though he’s getting the exact reaction he wanted from him.

“Allowing office rom-nce will act as distraction, it’s gonna affect their work!”

Stephen laughed briefly after hearing Jayden’s words, he shared a look with Kelvin, then turned back to Jayden.

“Jay, your office is very big and spacious, there’s enough room for ten tables,,,right?”

Jayden tilted his head, a few deep frown lines appeared on his forehead.

“What do you mean?” he asked.

“Since she’s your personal assistant, you can just move her table to your office,,,,”

He paused and studied Jayden’s expression, he continued when he realized Jayden’s listening attentively.

“You can find any excuse to always keep her by your side, you can occupy her with files everyday,,, then she won’t leave your sight or have time to flirt with her boyfriend”

“He’s not her boyfriend!” Jayden snapped at him.

Stephen smirked and raised his hands in surrender, he had purposely said that to rile Jayden up,,,,he coughed to clear his throat.

Jayden glared at him a few seconds, then leaned back on the chair.

“But your words did make sense, I think that’s what I’m gonna do” Jayden said.

He faced Kelvin.

“Go, make the arrangements” he ordered.

“Yes, sir” Kelvin replied and rushed out.

Stephen’s smirk grew bigger, he knows his friend very well, he knows something is brewing up.

“Come on, let’s go charge your battery,,, or you’re gonna collapse again” Stephen said.

“I’m not gonna collapse, stop cursing me” Jayden rebuked him.

Stephen chuckled. “Tell that to your battery”

He helped Jayden up and supported him towards a staircase, leading to the charging room.
