Chapter 18

“Alice….I’m talking to you.” Samuel said raising his voice and faced her fully now.

Alice was visibly shaking.

‘Gosh! Why did I say that? Its obvious Cindy didn’t say a word to him. What do I do? I’m sure a dead meat tonight.’ Alice thought.

“Um..hm…you know…I’ve not been thinking straight since morning. Sorry what I said was a slip of tongue.” Alice said awkwardly.

Samuel laughed shortly as he moved closer to her.

“I don’t believe you Alice. You are making me doubt you every passing day! When did you started having an interest in whatever I and Cindy discussed if not because she knew something about you that you’re scared she might spit it out to me due to how close we are. Alice..you are pushing me and if I decided to get back at you…you’d hate me entirely. I won’t tell you what I’m gonna do but I’m promising you I’m gonna find out what you are keeping away from me very soon.” He said and left her.

She bursted out crying as she sat down and buried her palm into her face.

“I’m finally losing it. My once happy, peaceful marriage is shattering into pieces little by little. Gosh! My past is haunting me now. what do I do with George…should I just poison him or what? He wouldn’t stop unless he sees my end.” She lamented sadly.

Her tears kept on coming.

Samuel got to the room frustratedly. He ruffled his hair thinking about whatever it is that Alice is keeping away from him despite the love and care he’d shown her all these years.

He’d never did anything that’d make her shed a single tears in his entire life..he has been the faithful husband anyone would wish to have to her.

Despite the fact that ladies always come to him to sed-ce him in one way or the other….he has never fall into it.

He loved Alice a lot that anything concerning her always comes first before his.

“Alice…You just made me stop trusting you tonight.” He declared as he walked into the bathroom.

Minutes later, he came out of the bathroom tying a white towel around his wa-ist.

He walked to the table to took his phone first. He sat down and dialled Cindy’s number but she didn’t pick it.

He tried it again and again before she picked it at the third time.

📲this isn’t Cindy my dear. Good evening

📞Good evening ma. What happened to her?

📲the pains she always experience monthly is now becoming unbearable.

📞oh my goodness.. We were together earlier but didn’t tell me anything of such.

📲it started when she got home.

The call ended.

“Wife indeed!” He muttered.

“Lady like Cindy is really scarce to find. Seriously, I thought she had given her boyfriend her V-rginity already…Cindy kept amazing me.” he said smiling as he walked to the closet.

Yeah…Samuel knew about the menstrual pain when they were schooling. He was the one that do stay by her and rubbed her tummy till daybreak.

He smiled at the memory.

“Goodness know why I didn’t fall in love with her those times when we were always together either reading, eating, playing or anything.” He said as he wore his briefs and a white top.

He walked into the bedroom again and found Alice standing by the bed side.

“I was told food is the way to a man’s heart but since he refused to eat….s’x is another way.” Alice thought as she waited for him to come to bed.

Samuel saw her and looked away. He laid on the bed with the thought of Cindy in his head.

“I wonder how she’s feeling right now… Gosh! V-rgins are going through a lot.” He thought gently closing his eyelid.

He suddenly felt a hand on his body. – Alice’s hand.

He turned to her and asked her what’s wrong.

“What? you knew what I’m up to… Let’s just do it. I missed your touch on my body.” She said biting her lip.

Samuel scanned her, she was wearing a transparent white nightie gown which enable him to see her b**bs.

But truthfully, he felt nothing in between his th-gh.

“Have you ever begged me for s’x in this house?” He asked.

“Nope. But it’s not a crime I’m asking you tonight. I’m asking not begging.” She answered car-ssing his chest.

“Either you’re asking or begging, I’m not in the mood to do anything. Tomorrow is another day to work please for goodness sake, allow me to sleep in peace. If you touch me again, I’m leaving this bed for you.” Samuel said and yanked her hand away from his body

Alice was taken aback. She knew her husband to the extent that even if he’s mad at her, he’d never refused having s’x with her.

But reverse is the case now. “What do I do to restore my marriage back?” She thought.

“Open up to your husband.” Her heart told her.

“No…no. That’d be disastrous.” Another Part said.

She decided to try her luck again by k-ssing his back ’cause he was backing her. She also stretched her hand to his chest to car-ss it.

Samuel didn’t bother talking to her. He just stood up from the bed and walked out of the room with his phone.

“What have I done!” Alice scre-med when Samuel left the room.

“George….I will never forgive you if my marriage shattered. Cindy….are you playing smart with me?” She muttered as she took his phone and send Cindy a message.

The Next Morning

Cindy fluttered her eyes opened and saw her mum sleeping peacefully beside her. Her hand on Cindy’s tummy.

She smiled as she gently took her hand away from her tummy so that she could dress for work.

Thankfully, she didn’t woke up her up. She stood up from the bed and was about to enter the bathroom when she saw her dad sleeping on the couch in her room.

She smiled as tears welled up in her eyes.

“God..thanks for giving me this type of parents – caring and understanding. I love you.” She muttered as she finally entered the bathroom.

She bathed and tied a pink towel around her body and left the bathroom.

“Cindy..” She heard her mum called.

She looked at her direction and walked to her… Then engulfed her in a hug.

“Thank you mum for caring about me and staying with me. I’d forever love you.” Cindy said.

They disengaged from the hug.

“How are you feeling? Can you go to work? Will you be fine?” She asked.

“Yes mum. You know the pain is always unbearable on the first day., the other days are bearable. I’d manage besides, Samuel is there for me.” Cindy said as she k-ssed her mum’s cheeks.

“I hope you are okay now ?” She heard her father’s voice.

He was about leaving the room.

“Yes daddy.” She said and ran to him too. Her towel almost loose but she held it and tied it again before hugging her dad.

“Sweet father. Thank you. I love you a lot.” Cindy gushed.

“I’m glad you are okay . you scared us last night.” Her dad said.

“Sorry dad. I’d soon be free from the pains.” She said.

“Yeah. I have to report early to work this morning. Take care of yourself my baby.” Her dad said and gave her a peck.

He left the room.

“Cindy…the bakery has been completed!” Mrs Veronica said.

“Wow! That’s awesome. Congratulations mum.” Cindy said.

“Thanks baby. We’re celebrating it a day after your introduction.”

“awwn…jubilation galore. Can’t really wait. Who’re you inviting?” Cindy asked.

“The church members…friends and well wishers.” Mrs Veronica answered.

“I can come with Emmanuel, Samuel and Ellen, right?” She asked laughing.

“Of course baby. Invite more.” Mrs Veronica said.

“No. That’s all. Congrats again mummy. It’d go higher and higher in Jesus name.” She prayed.

“Amen.”

“Let me go and make breakfast for you and your dad.” Mrs Veronica added.

“I don’t want heavy food. Some bread and tea would do.” Cindy whined.

“Alright. Take care. Samuel would soon be here. Oh sorry, he called last night too. I picked it and told him you’re not alright.” Mrs Veronica.

“I’m alright mum..just feeling Pains.”

They laughed.

“He’d be worried.” Cindy added.

“Yeah.”

“Cindy… Samuel is here.” Mr James shouted.

“What?” She exclaimed as she hurriedly went to her closet looking for what to wear.

Her mum left her room to the kitchen.

After searching her closet for some minutes she settled for a purple knee length gown with a black shoe with a purple designer handbag.

She applied a little makeup on her face before walking out of her room gently taking the staircase.

She finally got to the sitting room and met Samuel seated on the couch.

“Good morning Sam.” Cindy greeted happily as she moved closer to her.

Samuel looked up from the tablet he was holding to look at Cindy..

Words stuck his throat as he stared at who stood before him.

“Gosh! Cindy…good morning. How are you feeling now?.” He replied moving closer to her and hugged her briefly before pulling back

“Very well dear. Thank you.’ She smiled.

“You look good today like always.” He couldn’t help but appreciate her look.

“oh..thank you.” She chuckled.

“You guys should come here for breakfast.” Mrs Veronica announced from the dining.

“Let’s go to the dining.” Cindy said.

“Wait…” Samuel said as he walked to her and k-ssed her forehead.

“Samuel…” Cindy said almost in a whisper.

“Let’s go eat.” He chuckled as he walked passed her leaving her in awe.
