Chapter 25 and 26… 🥰😊

CHAPTER 25….🥰
Mira was the happiest person at that moment with the fact that Mr Lockhart agreed to allow her baby sit little Isabella.
But she was still sad that Mr Lockhart’s wife died while giving birth to Isabella. In fact it was heartbreaking. Little Isabella will have to grow up without a mother.
Mira carried Isabella in her arms, even though she was sleeping she still spoke to her..
“Izzy… Can I call you that?” Mira said smiling even though she knew the baby won’t hear her or even understand her if she was awake.
“Am sorry for what happened to your mother. But I’ll promise you one thing, as long as am still in this house, I’ll give you the love of a mother. I’ve never been a mother before so you will be my first child. And I’ll take care of you and you’ll be my priority till the day you grow. That’s a promise” she vowed and looked outside through the window. As soon as she turned her gazed from Isabella sleeping face, her l-ips curved into a small smile which Mira didn’t see.
Over at the door, Ezekiel heard her promise and was deeply touched that someone would be here to take care of his little girl like a mother.
“And I promise to make sure your Happy Mira” Ezekiel whispered so that Mira won’t hear it. Closing the door, he left.

As soon as Mira laid Isabella in her crib, she left the room to hers. She took her bath and put on her red night gown. Going to stand in front of the mirror, she examined herself.
Within two days of staying in Mr Lockhart house, she had already added more flesh. She looked at her cheeks which were fatter than before. She looked at the nightgown. It was rather s-ductive on Mira and it revealed a bit too much. She grabbed the night gown jacket and left to have her dinner.
She met Ezekiel already sitting in the dinner devouring his food of rice and stew with a bottle of wine near his plate.
Mira saw her food already placed at the place where she usually sits.
She greeted him with a smile and sat down and he smiled back.
He looks to be in a better mood and Mira thought it was the best time to ask him for a favor.
But she couldn’t yet. Rather, she grabbed her spoon and playfully mixed the rice and stew. A glass of orange juice was beside her food to since she didn’t take wine or that’s what the chef thought when serving.
Even after mixing it, she didn’t start it . She was still playing with the food hoping Ezekiel would notice which he did.
“Why aren’t you eating Mira?” His deep voice which always sent chills down Mira said.
“May I ask a favor sir?” Mira finally said, happy that her plan worked.
“Yes you can” he said curious to know what she was going to say.
“Erm…. Sir, I want to see my mom” Mira dropped her request and Ezekiel spoon which was half way to his mouth stopped Midway.
As he was about to speak, he began choking . Mira panicked and immediately got up from her seat.
“Sir are you okay?” She was already scared. She gave him the glass of wine to drink but even after drinking it , he was still choking. She immediately stretched her hand and reach for the bottle of water on the table.
She held the water close to his l-ips while patting him on the back. Ezekiel grabbed the water from her hand and drank it.
Mira continued to Pat his back. Soon his coughing reduced and Mabel entered the dinning room.
“Sir are you okay?” She asked concerned while he still drank the water but nodded gently. Soon he paused drinking water and sat still .
“What happened to him?” Mabel asked and Mira still a bit afraid answered… “I don’t know. He was choking” ..
“Am fine Mabel” Ezekiel finally spoke and took another sip of water. His voice sounded weird and coarse.
“Thank God you are” Mabel said and Ezekiel indicated that she could leave. All the maids that were in and near the dinning table left .
‘God, I shouldn’t have asked her anything. I should have just pretended not to notice…. Ugh… ‘ Ezekiel said in his mind.
“So you were saying?” He finally said after long moments of silence.
Mira was already guilty for making him choke.
“Don’t feel bad, it was my fault. Forgot my table manners” Ezekiel said as if reading her mind.
” Erm… I want to see my mom” she finally said again and hoped he won’t choke again.
What was he going to say now, he had already promised himself that he won’t let Mira Know about her mom condition till she was better.
“No” came the short but hurtful sentence. Just like when she asked to see her mom the day he brought her here.
“Why?” Obviously surprised at how he outrightly rejected her request.
” Because your mom is no longer in the country. She has been moved to India for better treatment” what he said wasn’t a lie though. Since she needed to get well fast, he decided to have her moved out of the country. Also because he didn’t want who was harming her mom to continue doing it.
“Why?” Now she was shocked and suspicious.
What if he doesn’t even have her mother?
What if he was just lying to her?
What if something bad had happened to her?..
The last ‘what if’ really scared her. She didn’t want anything to happen to her dearest mother.
“Well, I won’t lie. Your mom health was deteriorating and they have better medical instrument and equipment in india and the doctor advised she should be transferred there as soon as possible” he couldn’t believe he lied without hesitating.
“Ohh” was all Mira could say still trying to digest what he had said.
“Am sorry for not informing you. It skipped my mind but I can assure you that your mom will get better soon” he said with a smile and Mira nodded.
” Anything else? ” He asked and Mira nodded. “Well, let’s hear it” . He said taking a sip from the wine.
“I would like to go to my house tomorrow and grabbed some important things. Can I ?”….

Mira dressed her bed properly as she prepared to go to sleep. She was satisfied with the fact that Ezekiel had granted her permission to go to her house and he even said that Thomas would take her there.
He was just too kind to her.
Going to the window, she looked at her favorite view of the stars and the moon reflecting on the pool.
Now she just wished she could stay here longer to take care of Isabella.
“Isabella”….

CHAPTER 26….. 😊
Mira ensured to wake up early enough. She wanted to be back before afternoon. She went to the window to lift the curtains up and allow sunrays to enter the room when she noticed some activities happening in the garden after the pool. They were trimming the flowers and removing the weed and decorating everywhere.
“Huh, what’s going on? Is there a special occasion today? ” Mira asked herself. If
there was a special event happening, then Ezekiel could have told her.
Mira quickly hurried to take her bath. She wore the yellow short gown she had bought in the boutique.
She firstly visited Isabella room and was greatly surprised to see she was awake by this time and was even more surprised that she wasn’t crying or alerting everyone that she was awake.
“Seems like my little girl is gradually changing” she said and tickled little Isabella who giggled. This was so satisfactory. Seeing Isabella smile like this.
She left to heat up her milk and gave her in her bottle which Isabella drank immediately.
“So hungry” Mira hummed as she fed Isabella.
She then left her, got her bathing water prepared then bathed her and wore her a pink overall with flowery designs.
She combed her little but growing hair and carried her properly hoping that she would fall asleep fast.

After singing and dancing for 30mins, Isabella was still yet to fall asleep. Mira was getting tired and frustrated.. all Isabella did was to speak in baby’s language. It was cute yet annoying.
“Ugh… What will i do to make you sleep huh Izzy?” Mira asked.
She decided to take a stroll in the garden and admire the beautiful work the servants made.
Placing her in her stroller, she left the room and closed it gently. Before she got to the stairs, she met Ezekiel coming up the stairs.
“Sir good morning” Mira wondered why he wasn’t at work by this time.
“Don’t you have a home to visit today?” He asked instead.
“Oh I do. But Izzy hasn’t slept off yet and I can’t leave her awake” Mira said and Ezekiel looked in,side the stroller and saw her still wide awake.
“She’s a handful” he said and smiled at his daughter who giggled back in response.
“So where are you heading?” He asked while playing with Isabella.
“To the garden. Thought we take a walk before I leave” Mira replied while examining him.
Just now she took notice of his dress. He was wearing shorts and tank top. Seems like he just came back from jogging plus , headphones were around his neck and he had a bottle of water. Seeing the water, she smiled remembering last night when he was choking.
“….. Mira..” she snapped out of her trance and looked at him confused… He had been speaking to her but she didn’t hear a single thing.
“Huh? Am sorry could you please repeat that?” She said red already.
“I said, why are you smiling Mira? ” He finally repeated folding his arms.
” oh nothing. Just remembered something” she answered back and he sighed.
” Let’s go” he said.
” Huh? ” …
” Your heading for the garden so let’s go. We don’t need the stroller” he carried little Isabella and Mira immediately took the stroller.
By the time she got back, little Izzy was wiggling in his arms . She didn’t want him to carry her.
“Ugh… This child” he said with a smile and placed her gentle in Mira’s arms.
Mira smiled back….

Linda and some other young maid stood at a corner in the hallway watching Mira and Mr Lockhart.
“Look at her, she’s slowly s-ducing sir” a girl called Mariam said Linda and the other maid laugh.
They laughed because they knew she was jealous. Although Linda was the newest maid to be brought here before Mira came, she had come to realize that Mariam had an eye for the Lockhart brothers.
She tried going for the younger brother of Ezekiel thinking he would bean easy catch since he was reckless but hell, she had been wrong. She almost got fired.
Since she failed woefully the first time, she subtly tried going for Ezekiel. But at that time, he had a wife. She did everything possible to get rid of her too…
Now she succeeded, Mira came by. Now she had another stumbling block to remove.
The other maids told Linda to be wary of Mariam but she didn’t listen because Mariam was always kind to her and helped her know her way around the mansion.
“Just stop being jealous. Why on Earth would Mr Lockhart look at you when a beautiful maiden has entered the mansion” the other maid teased Mariam and linda laughed.
But Mariam didn’t find it funny one bit.
‘this girl has to go’

As soon as they got to the garden, Ezekiel led her to the bench where she sat with little Izzy in her arms.
The garden was already beautifully decorated and everywhere was looking neat and prim.
“Is there a special occasion today” Mira decided to ask just in case she had to prepare for something big .
“Nah” was the short reply.
He looked straight ahead as if remembering something yet he was listening to Mira.
“So erm…. Why is everywhere decorated?” Even while coming down the stairs, Mira noticed that the wide living room was also being cleaned and made sparkling. The maid and male servants were running up and down having one thing or the other done. And the aroma of dishes they were preparing filled the house. Mira tummy rumbled. That’s when she remembered she hasn’t had her morning food yet.
“My parents are coming back from their Vacation” he said casually and Mira eye opened widely.
” Oh… But why the …. ”
” It’s my mom. She likes her house to be very fancy.. any thing less and the servants gets it” he said and chuckled. Seems like it had happened before.
Mira went deep in thoughts before finally saying… “She sounds harsh” she pressed her l-ips into a thin line.
Ezekiel turned to look at her …
“Yeah. She’s very difficult to please”
