Chapter 59

Six Months Later

{Brandon’s Mansion}

Roseanna walks into the sitting room where Brandon was sitting reading a newspaper. She stood opposite him.

“Sir Brandon…” She calls out slightly lowering her head.

Brandon looks at her removing his gaze from the newspaper, beaming with smile.

“Is there any problem?” He asked concerned.

” No sir… It’s just that.. that… I’m kinda being a liability here and I’m very grateful for all the good things you’ve done for I and Kiara… And I will like to… to work as a servant…”

Alicia walks in straight to where Roseanna was.

” Sure… You can… Thank God you already know that you’re kinda a liability since everything you’ve had is free and you are not adding anything here!! Definitely…”

” Ali…cia! Don’t use such word!” Brandon warns.

” Dad… I have to… She is just making here looking like a daycare with little Kiara!! Am tired of everything!!” Alicia lamented.

Brandon ruffles his hair thinking on what to say.

“Alicia… I think there is currently a vacancy for a secretary in our company and Roseanna will fit perfectly for the job!” He said smiling.

” No dad… I mean I have already employed a secretary two days before and if there is even any vacancy available… It wouldn’t be Roseanna I would employ!!” Alicia scoffs insolently.

“Ali… Cia!!”

“Uhm sir… Don’t worry… I will take the job as a maid” She breathes in.

” Are you sure you’re okay with that?” Brandon asks.

” Yes… It’s no big deal… And perhaps I wouldn’t like a father and his daughter have exchange of words all because of me…” She said calmly.

” Exactly!! That’s is what I want to hear… Being a maid is the job that will perfectly fit someone like you!! Alicia lashes out, rolling her eyeballs before walking away.

“Am sorry for my daughter’s lack of understanding… If it okay by you… There is definitely no problem but please don’t stress yourself out!” Brandon advices and stood up.

” It’s nothing sir… I understand!”

Late at Night

” Just take this little one from me… I don’t have such money available right now!!” Alicia says. She is seen standing at the gate side talking to an unknown lady who is outside the gate.

The unknown lady scoffs, “Alicia Danes… Don’t be too selfish because you can’t lie to me! I gave you a certain amount of money to be paid to continue keeping your secret and and remember… I was the one that let you in here!! So if you know what is good for you… Just pay me my complete money and have your secret sealed!!”

Alicia sighs, the lady always had a way of blackmailing her and this time was no difference. Tucking her hand into her pocket, she brings out a bundle of money and hands it over to the lady.

“Take and get out of here… Don’t you ever come here again… You know the place where we usually meet…!” She said pointing out her index finger at the lady who chuckles.

“I will! As long as you keep on paying my money golddigger!!” The unknown lady says and walks away.

Alicia heaves a sigh of relief as she looks around, seeing no one watching her, shs walks back to the house.

“Where have you been?” Natalie asks standing at the door with folded hands as Alicia opens it.

Alicia gaaps.

“Ou-out-side… Just to receive some chill night breeze younno” she stammers, trying to hide her shock.

“And who where you talking with?” Natalie asks looking straight to her eyes.

“No-no one in particular… Maybe I was just talking to myself?”

” Hmmm” Natalie breathe in nodding her head, she releases her hand dropping it down to her hips and walks over to her room.

Alicia watches her go into her room and smiles.

“Phew!! So close… ” She utters placing her hands on her chest.

For the past few weeks, Roseanna had been in charge of cleaning and arranging the rooms, she had just arranged the last room before she moved to the sitting room.

She dust the cushions and sofa, before going to the glass table. Standing up, the table rag swipes and fell down a picture.

“Oh no!! I hope it didn’t smash or have a crack…! She mutters bending over to pick it up.

It was the picture of Brandon’s wife and their little daughter.

“This must be Alicia!” She smiled reffering to the baby sitter on her mother’s lap.

She was still smiling at the picture when Natalie walks in carrying little Kiara sleeping on her shoulder.

“Oh… You’re here! And I’ve searched for you in almost all the rooms!!” She said walking over to her.

Natalie smiles seeing her looking at the picture when tears pool up around her eyes.

“Do you know who is it?”

Roseanna shuddered in fear thinking it was Alicia, she sighs seeing Natalie who was grinning.

“That is sir Brandon’s wife, Andrea and their daughter!”

Gently, she kept Kiara on one of the sofa and heads towards the cupboard at the other side of the sitting room.

Pulling out of it, a picture gallery, she walks back to Roseanna.

“This are the photos taken years ago between Brandon, Andrea and their little daughter…”

She motioned Roseanna to sit down as she showed her the pictures inside the photos gallery.

Roseanna glances through the pictures until she came across a drawing of matchsticks precisely of a man, a woman and their child. She chuckles.

“That was drawn by their daughter when she was little and now it turns out to be Brandon’s favorite picture that he had to put it in here and even have photocopies of it…”

” Ohh!” Roseanna smiles as she touched the drawing.

“This is father… This is mother… And this is me Camilla!!” Roseanna utters unknowingly pointing at each matchstick drawing respectively.

Natalie gasps in surprise and shock as she stares at Roseanna.

“What???””

” How did you…???” Natalie was totally surprised still staring at Roseanna.

Chapter 60
Continuation from the last chapter;

Roseanna’s turns and sees Natalie blankly staring at her. She waves her hand to draw Natalie back to earth.

“What is the problem… You seemed suddenly lost?”

Natalie blinks her eyes several times not wanting to believe what she had just heard.

“Can you remember what you said few moments ago?”

Roseanna squint her eyes trying to remember but moves her head sideways.

“No… I can’t…”

“You can’t…? I mean you said something something like…”

“I can’t remember… Do you have an idea of what I said?” Roseanna asks confused.

“No… Definitely… Nevermind!” She said still looking at Roseanna surprised while she closes the gallery photos.

“Can I ask you some few questions?” Natalie asks while Roseanna gave in with a yes.

Taking a deep breath, Natalie thinks on where to start from.

“What about your parents?”

“My parents?… Uhm… I mean I don’t know my parents… I was raised by my grandparents who aren’t actually my real grandparents.

“Ohh… I see!”

“Yeah… According to them, I was picked up besides a nearby garden at the incident of a plane crash which took place at a certain place within that environment unconscious and even when I woke up I couldn’t remember anything except for my age!!”

“How often were you then?”

“I was five years then but I remember nothing about my birthday…”

Natalie was becoming emotional as tears pooled around the corner of her eyes.

“Can you remember the date of the plane crash incident?” She asks curiously.

“No… But my grandma told me that the incident occurred on the 12th of November 1998 and they eventually turned it as my birthday!!”

“12th-Nov…emb…er… 1998?’ she asks which Roseanna nodded.

“Oh no!!’ Natalie exclaims, she uses her index finger to dap around the corner of her eyes to prevent the tears for falling.

‘You’re crying?” Roseanna asks as Natalie shakes her head.

“No… But please do not disclose anything you’ve told me here not w even sir Brandon… Okay?”

“Daddy… What do you have as a surprise for me on my birthday?” Alicia asked.

“I guess you called it a surprise but am gonna make a splendid birthday parties and too on that day you’re gonna take my place in my business and properties…”

“Really daddy?” Alicia asks grinning so widely. Brandon nods his head assuring his daughter.

Alicia hugs her father so tight, as she pecks her father on his cheek.

“Thank you so much Dad!” She glees so happily.

“Now I have to go and plan ahead for my fabulous birthday party! See you later!!”

{Connor’s House}

“Jason… You can continue like this and now you’re done with schooling. I handing my business and company to your name and I also hosting a party for it but you aren’t prepared!…” Carolina takes a deep breath and sighs.

“How would you be able to cope and run the affairs of the company with this state of mind that you are in?” Carolina asks concerned due to her son’s behavior.

“Mum… I just can’t…!!” He sniffs and turns to his mother.

“If only I could see Roseanna… If only I know if she is okay… I just want to know how our baby is… Even though we might not be so close again…!”

Carolina turns emotional as she gently pat her son’s shoulder, “You will… but now you need to prepare and come over… I’m finally handing my business into your hands today…”

She walks over to where she had kept his neatly arranged packed and ironed suit and drops it on his bed.

” Com’on now, go and have your bath and get ready… Time is running late…”

She tries to smile but instead tears fall down her cheek. She turns to leave.

{Event Center}

“On this day… I proudly say that… after everything I have done to promote the progress, success and the smooth running of this company together with my sidekick business partners making it stand out among the top companies in this state…” Carolina paused looks at the audience beef she proceeded.

“I hereby officially step down from my position as the CEO of this company and hand it over to my son… Jason Connor… Who will now henceforth be the head and the CEO of ‘Summerstitch Fashion Company’and I hope as he continues from where I have stopped… He will do better than I have done…!” She said in all smiles as she stepped down the podium.

“I hereby introduce to you the CEO of’Summerstitch Fashion Company’… Sir Jason Connor!!”

Applauses we’re heard all round the place as Jason climbs up the podium trying to wear a confident look.

He is on a black suit and tie, a well polished black shoes to match. He was handsomely sparkling making the female audience crush on him.

🗣️”Oh my gosh… Such a handsome CEO!!”

🗣️” He is so hot… I’m surely gonna patronize their products because of him”

“Congratulations!’ Carolina told her son with a hug.

“Thank you mom!”

“Congratulations!” The secretary and other board members and directors said offering him a handshake.

“Hi!!” Alicia calls out to Jason as she walks close to him holding a glass of wine.

“Cheers… Congratulations to your new position as the…”

” Thanks…” Jason said cutting her short from her sentence as he turns to leave.

“Wait!!” She calls out again to Jason who paused and looks back at her.

“I’m Alicia Carvers… The daughter of Brandon Carvers… A co-branding business partner with your mom…”

“And?” Jason asks rather impatiently.

“Uhm… We will organizing a birthday party for my birthday and there all will I be signed in into my father’s company and properties as the new owner… So you are invited!” She said happily.
