Chapter 99 :- Mother vs Daughter

Angered by her mother’s psychopathic identity, Ebinoluwa decides to step in and put an end to this once and for all. Seeing that her daughter was serious about challenging her, Christen decides to make an example of her by which she conjures hundreds of spiky stones in mid air and hurls them all at her.
Seeing that her mother had already made her move, Ebinoluwa then snaps her finger turning the stones into sand within a blink of an eye. Shocked by how her attack was easily countered, Christen tries to cast another spell but before she could do that, Ebinoluwa had already made hers. Within a matter of seconds, thick fogs and mists began to emerge in the forest and amidst all of that, Ebinoluwa blends herself in with the mist making herself invisible. Confused by what was going on, Christen decides to make Ebinoluwa show herself by using insults.

Christen ➡ Coward, Show yourself! Just because you’re a different breed of witch doesn’t mean you can stop me. Worthless child, I dare you to show yourself. Ever since you were little, you’ve always been a headache and I’m going to fix that tonight.

As the insults continue to fly, Ebinoluwa was still no where in sight and that frustrated her mother. Seeing that her plan wasn’t working, Christen then tries to blow the mist away by casting a wind spell but before she could do that, something strikes her from behind. Despite feeling the pain, Christen instantly turns around to strike but to her surprise there was nothing behind her but mist. In that same moment, something strikes Christen again on her arm making her grunt with pain, she turns around instantly to see what attacked her but she saw nothing but mist again.
Feeling that there was something off about this, Christen remains calm and focuses her attention trying to sense out her daughter through the blinding thick mist. Despite her focus, Christen felt nothing but before she could do anything, something strange occurred.
All of a sudden, the thick mist and fog disappeared and instead of seeing the destroyed forest around her, Christen saw herself in the university of Ibadan back before she had met Riley. Everything she had witnessed 30yrs ago was now happening before her very eyes and it felt her dumbfounded and confused. In that moment, Christen thoughts of Riley and then rushes to the history department to meet him but upon getting there, she sees something unbelievable. Here before her very eyes, Christen gasps as she sees Riley with his girlfriend Rukky kissing each other romantically. Seeing this hurts her and in her jealousy, she approaches the two trying to interfere but before another unexpected thing occurs.

Christen ➡ Get away from my boyfriend! (yanks Rukky)

Rukky ➡ See this ashawo! You dey craze! Who’s your boyfriend?
.

Christen ➡ Riley, tell her.
.

Rukky ➡ Babe, are you involved with this snobby bitch?
.

Riley ➡ (chuckles) What? No! I don’t know what she’s talking about.
.

Christen ➡ {shocked) WHAT? You can’t mean that.
.

Riley ➡ I’m sorry but I barely know you and I don’t want anything to do with you.
.

Shocked by this statement, Christen becomes speechless and then pinches herself in that moment wondering if she was dreaming but nothing worked. In that moment, everyone in the class begins to laugh at Christen making her feel embarrassed and humiliated, she looks around her wondering if this was real or not. She didn’t believe this was happening but it was.

Rukky ➡ See this one o. No shame! You just dropped out of nowhere trying to claim what is yours. Cheap ashewo.
.

Riley ➡ Rukky, that’s enough.
.

Rukky ➡ Just look at you. Who in his right mind would be with a creep like you?
.

Outraged by the continuous laughs from everyone and mocking jeers from Rukky, Christen decides to make an example out of them but just as she was about to do that, the whole environment changes instantly and within a blink of an eye Christen finds herself in front of Riley’s office 10yrs after she was forced to part with him. Still confused by what was going on, Christen decides to open the door and immediately she opens the door and steps into the office, she comes face to face with another upsetting occurrence.

Amelia. ➡ Oh Riley, kiss me. (kissing and smooching)

Riley ➡ Take it easy, Amelia. We’ll get….. JESUS!!

Christen ➡ (heartbroken) Riley, what is this?
.

Riley ➡ Do I know you? How do you know my name?
.

Amelia ➡ Can’t you knock?
.

Christen ➡ What is happening?
.

Riley ➡ Look, can you please leave my office?
.

Amelia ➡ Didn’t you hear my fiancee? LEAVE!

Christen ➡ (shocked) Fiancee?

Riley ➡ Ms. Can you please leave?, now!

Heartbroken and outraged at the same time, Christen screams angrily making the whole environment to change once again but what came next was far more worse for her to handle. Unknown to Christen, Ebinoluwa had placed her under a powerful and alternate illusion that showed her all the things she feared and what her life would have turned on if she hadn’t fell in love with Riley.
Presently as Ebinoluwa continues to play tricks in her mother’s mind, Rose begins to marvel how her niece was able to subdue her mother just in a matter of seconds but then at the same time, she began to get worried about Christen’s reaction towards her daughter’s magic.

Rose ➡ Ebinoluwa, what did you do to Christen?

Ebinoluwa ➡ Illusion! I’m showing her all the things that she dreads and doesn’t what to see.
.

Rose ➡ Well, Christen looks hurt. Stop this now.
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ I’m not done yet.
.

Rose ➡ I said ENOUGH! you’re going to break your mother mentally if you continue doing this. Stop this now or I’ll stop you.
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ if she continues her rampage then don’t call me to stop her.
.

Meanwhile here inside her mind, Christen collapses feeling helpless as her alternate past experience unveil before her continuously. Despite pinching her countless times telling herself this was not real, nothing she did could get her out of this looping illusions. Just as Christen was about accept this harsh ordeal as her reality, Ebinoluwa appears in her mind and settles a deal with her.

Ebinoluwa ➡ Mom.

Christen ➡ Ebinoluwa!? What’s going on here? Where am I?
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ You’re under a powerful illusion of my doing. This illusion is an endless loop of the life you would have turned out to be if you had not fallen in love with dad.

Christen ➡ How dare you do this to me? You heartless child.
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ Blame yourself for this. You forced my hand and I had to stop me whatever it takes.

Christen ➡ Do you have any idea what I went through in here because of you? I wish I hadn’t birth you. Stop this now.

Ebinoluwa ➡ NO!
.

Christen ➡ EBINOLUWA!!
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ Promise you would go back home quietly and I’ll end the illusion. If you refuse, I’ll leave you here. You decide!

Christen ➡ I’m going to get you for this. This isn’t over.
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ Oh mom, it already is. See you on the other side.
.

Angered by her daughter’s cockiness, Christen leaps her at trying to deal with her but in that moment, Ebinoluwa produces a bright white light from the palm of her hands and blasts it on Christen’s face knocking her out cold and with that, her rampage stopped and the magic she had casted outside her mind had disappeared as well.
Meanwhile here outside the subconscious mind of Christen, Rose observes closely as her niece restrains her sister and as soon as she was done, Christen collapses but Riley appears in time to hold her before she could hit the ground.

Rose ➡ Is it done?
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ Yes it is. It’s time to get home.
.

Riley ➡ None of this would have happen if you had stayed out of it.
.

Rose ➡ Stop whining and let’s go.
.

Before long, Aunt Jezebel and the others arrive on the scene and after seeing that Christen had been restrained, they were all pleased. However despite the fact that her niece was restrained, Jezebel couldn’t help but feel that Christen was still under the influence of her innate darkness.

Jezebel ➡ She needs to be restrained when we get home.

Riley ➡ Why?
.

Jezebel ➡ We need to watch her, I have a feeling that she’s still…
.

Riley ➡ Okay fine but I will restrain her in our bedroom. The last thing she needs is for all of you to be bombarding her.
.

Esther ➡ Don’t worry Riley. She’ll be okay.
.

Titi ➡ Okay everyone let’s get out of here before we attract unnecessary attention.

Unaware that she was right, Titi and the others didn’t know that they were being watched all along by Xeira. After what happened days ago at the fortress, Xeira had been looking for Christen to exact vengeance on her. At first she wanted to go to her house but after finding out that she wasn’t there, Xeira waited patently until Christen’s location was found and she went there. Despite her itchiness to get revenge, Xeira hesitated after seeing what had happened in the forest, she sensed something dark about Christen and after seeing her power, an evil idea popped into her head.
Presently somewhere in the outskirts of Ibadan, Xeira meets with Iyunloye, Mayé and Oba telling them about what she had seen in Zambisa forest, the others were intrigued as Xeira told them of her idea.

Xeira ➡ It seems that I have misjudged that Christen all along. She’s a monster. Watching her decimate that forest is a thing of beauty.

Mayé ➡ I never knew she had it in her. She could be very useful to Evlyn.

Xeira ➡ Precisely and here’s the sweet part, I think I know what to do to make her completely surrender her darkness.

Oba ➡ What is that?

Xeira ➡ What is it that Christen likes the most more than anything else?

Iyunloye ➡ Just tell us already.
.

Xeira ➡ Her human mate. Riley. If we take him out of the equation, Christen will lose herself completely.

Iyunloye ➡ You want us to kill Riley? That’s not for us to decide.
.

Evlyn ➡ She’s right, that’s not fit you to decided.
.

Startled by Evlyn’s voice, Xeira and the others look around to see where the voice had come from but then suddenly, they find themselves in a dark vast space filled with dead rotting corpses and in the middle of this space was a large heap of dead rotting corpses and sitting on top of this heap of dead flesh was Evlyn.
After seeing Evlyn, all 4 bowed before her instantly as they saw her physical form. She was completely different from before and the sight of her is nothing but a nightmare.

Iyunloye ➡ Your eminence. We searched for you but…
.

Evlyn ➡ SILENCE!!!
.

Immediately after that outburst, Iyunloye begins to moaning painfully vomiting blood, her limbs began to bend in hurtful way making her scream with pain. Just as things seemed over for Iyunloye, she was released by Evlyn and her body was back to normal.

Evlyn ➡ None of you should dare speak unless I say so. The destruction of my fortress isn’t my problem right now, what I’m angry about is that none of you have managed to find out the identity or location of the anti magic user. I was nearly killed at that meeting and because of that I had to improvise. ME! EVLYN! I WAS FORCED TO RETREAT!!! THAT ANTI MAGIC USER IS A THREAT! AS LONG AS HE OR SHE IS STILL ALIVE, MY PLANS WILL NEVER SEE THROUGH. Xeira, Oba.. I want you both to spread the word to everyone loyal to me. Let them kill all anti magic users around the world whatever it takes. I want all the anti magic users dead. Do you understand?

Xeira ➡ Sure your eminence. Looks like it’s time to hunt. (chuckles)

Evlyn ➡ Silence! Nobody should touch Christen and her husband, her dark side could prove useful in the near future and her husband’s life will be mine for the taking. Once the time is right for me to use Christen, I will kill her husband.

Iyunloye ➡ What about Ebinoluwa?

Evlyn ➡ The girl with all gift? She’s mine. I will be the one to corrupt and turn her. She has great potential and besides she’s no threat to me.

Xeira ➡ What about Rose?
.

Evlyn ➡ Since she won’t join us, I’m afraid she must die.

Mayé ➡ If you’ll agree, your eminence. Let me be the one to end her.

Evlyn ➡ She nearly killed you the last time, what makes you think you can win?

Mayé ➡ I know her weakness! Her family.

Iyunloye ➡ That will be a mistake. Her husband may be weak but her kids are a prodigy. Don’t be a fool.

Evlyn ➡ Enough! I’ll kill Rose myself and when I’m done, I’ll steal her magic for my own.

Mayé ➡ What are we do in the meantime?

Evlyn ➡ Nothing. My plans are being executed as we speak…. Hold on! Mayé.

Mayé ➡ Yes your eminence?

Evlyn ➡ I have a task for you. Your magic manipulates the dead right?

Mayé ➡ Of course.

Evlyn ➡ Good! Stand still.

Suddenly in that moment, one of the dead corpses that Mayé stepped upon grabbed his leg and began to suck out his magic. Mayé tries to resist but Evlyn paralyzes him until she completely steals his magic. After stealing Mayé’s magic, Evlyn opens a portal beneath his feet and sucks him in.

Iyunloye ➡ Your eminence, what did you do?
.

Evlyn ➡ Mayé’s not dead. I have other use for him but in the meantime, his magic will be mine and I will put it to good use. Have you all heard about the reanimation spell or reincarnation spell?
.

Iyunloye ➡ It’s a forbidden spell.
.

Evlyn ➡ Well, whoever casts that spell can bring back those that died not permanently but temporarily.

Iyunloye ➡ What do you intend to do with it?
.

Evlyn ➡ Oh! I read Christen’s memory and I saw some interesting that could be of great use to me and grief to my enemies. This is going to be fun.

Xeira ➡ Is that all your eminence?

Evlyn ➡ No. Iyunloye.
.

Iyunloye ➡ Yes your eminence?

Evlyn ➡ I have a task for you as well. Ebinoluwa and the others surprised us the last time but this we will be the ones to do so.

Iyunloye ➡ What is it you want me to do?

24hrs had passed since we brought Christen home. It took hours before she awoke and when she did. It was ugly. For some reason, Christen had been having some kind of trouble of telling what is real and what is not but the worst thing about all this was that she kept mentioning Ebinoluwa promising to deal with her. At first, I thought it was just hallucinating but then I later found out that Ebinoluwa had messed with her mind pretty bad.

Presently, here I was with Ebinoluwa discussing about what she had did to her mom. Christen was getting restless and I needed to know what had been done to her. Ebinoluwa told me what she did but she insisted that she meant no harm.

Riley ➡ Oh Ebi, you shouldn’t have done that. It’s wrong.
.

Ebinoluwa ➡ But dad, Mom was getting out of hand. What was I supposed to do?
.

Riley ➡ Do you have any idea what you just did to you mother? You just showed your mother of a life that she would have lived if we haven’t fell in love. Your mother was in a dark place before we first met, her life was in chaos though she never showed it and you just reminded her of that. That was wrong of you.

Ebinoluwa ➡ I’m sorry dad but I meant no harm. I just did that to stop her.
.

Riley ➡ I know you meant no harm but remember messing with someone’s mind is a very dangerous thing. Your mother hates you now because of this and I won’t allow that. You need to apologize to her when she’s calmed down.

Ebinoluwa ➡ Okay, I will.
.

Riley ➡ Alright, let me go check on your mother.
.

Ebinoluwa disappeared after I said that and after she was gone, I took my leave and went to my bedroom to meet Christen. Seconds later, I arrived at the bedroom but before I could get in, I heard Christen talking and it was like she was talking to someone. In that moment, I opened the door and as soon as I stepped into the room, Christen kept quiet.

Riley ➡ Christen.
.

Christen ➡ (silence)
.

Riley ➡ Honey, is something wrong?
.

Christen ignored me completely and gave a long hiss after that. Despite her mood, I joined her on the bed trying to lighten her mood. Just as I was about to put my arms around her, Christen got out of the bed and walked slowly towards the door turning her back on me. In that moment, I realized she was playing hard to get so I decided to give her what she wanted. Within a blink of an eye, I teleported to her place and wrapped my arms around her from behind and began to kiss her neck.

Riley ➡ Iyawo mi ololufe! What’s wrong huh?
.

Christen ➡ Please Riley. I’m not in the mood.
.

Riley ➡ Ife adun mí, I’m not letting you go until you tell me what’s wrong.
.

Christen ➡ You think you know pretty well.
.

Riley ➡ Wait.. Is this about Akinbilege?
.

Christen’s body trembled as soon as I said that, She broke free from my embrace and began to bang on my chest with her knuckles as she showed her displeasure and resentment.

Christen ➡ You cheat! So all this time you knew about that cursed offspring of yours and you didn’t tell me?
.

Riley ➡ (holding christen) Honey, I swear I didn’t know until yesterday. The news came as a shock to me as well.
.

Christen ➡ You expect me to believe you?
.

Riley ➡ Yes. All these years, there’s no place or person that I spend more time with except you. Come on honey, don’t be sour on me now. You know I would never go behind your back and do something like this.

Christen ➡ Okay fine.. (mumbles)
.

Riley ➡ Christen please. I know this is hard for you to accept but the boy is your nephew.

Christen ➡ So you want me to accept him?
.

Riley ➡ It’s up to you.

Christen ➡ I’ll have to think about it. What about Ebinoluwa?

Riley ➡ She’s going to apologize to you.

Christen ➡ The nerve of that girl. Do you have any idea what she did to me?

Riley ➡ She meant no harm. Christen you were out of control. Just promise me that..
.

Christen ➡ I can’t promise you anything.

Riley ➡ Christen please…

Christen ➡ Riley, just go. I want to be alone.

Riley ➡ Christen…

Christen ➡ JUST GO, OKAY? JUST GO.

Seeing how serious Christen was, I decided to let her be. That Evlyn is to blame. She’s responsible for all of this. First it was Ebinoluwa, now Christen. As long as Evlyn’s alive, nobody is safe. Whatever it takes, she needs to be eliminated.
