Ivan’s POV
“Ethan!!” I yelled as I ran to where he laid unconscious
Layla and Gia quickly came out of their rooms and ran to where I am with Ethan
“What happened to him?” Gia asked
“I have no idea” I replied
“Put him on the couch let me examine him” Layla said and I carried Ethan up, placing him on the couch
Layla ran her hand above him chanting a spell and then she sighed
“What’s wrong with him?” I asked
“I have always told him to rest and not to act like the burden of the whole world is on his shoulders but he never listen, he’s just a child that went through a traumatic experience and suddenly got these very powerful abilities, he has been stressing himself and using his powers alot and his weak body couldn’t contain that amount of stress so his body failed him” Layla said
“So? Is he going to wake up?” I asked
“He will wake up after a few hours of rest but that won’t make any difference if he wakes up and continues to stress his body again” Layla stated
“He’ll be fine, Ethan is a strong boy” Gia said and Layla looked at her
“You have no idea how dangerous this is do you? When a witch is growing up, she’s not only training to expand her powers but she’s also training her mind and body to accommodate those powers, in a case where the body is too weak to accommodate the powers one possesses, the body will begin to fail the witch, it begins collapsing like this and if things continue like this, he could have concussions, seizures, his heart could even stop beating and he will die” Layla said
“Nothing of that sort will happen Layla, Ethan is not going to die, I won’t let that happen” I said
“Neither will I, but I was just explaining to Gia here so she will understand the gravity of the situation at hand” Layla said
“I get it Layla but all I can deduce from your words is that Ethan should reduce how often he uses his powers right?” Gia asked
“Yes that is one of the precautions we shall be taking” Layla nodded
“If he doesn’t use his powers, how will we ever complete the immortal killing spell?!” Gia asked
“What?! Is that all you are seriously concerned about after all I just told you that Ethan could die?!!”
“Of course I’m concerned about Ethan’s wellbeing, I was just curious about the spell, stop making me seem like a heartless person Layla!” Gia protested
“Will you guys just stop!!!” I yelled
“How can you guys be having an argument when Ethan is unconscious, it’s…. it’s my fault, I caused it, I never should have allowed him to continue using his powers, Sophie left me a simple task of taking care of her brother and I even failed at that, I wasn’t able to protect Sophie, I am not able to protect Ethan too, I am disgusted of myself”
“Come on Ivan, what are you saying, you’ve been trying your best” Gia said
“Well my best is not enough!!!” I yelled “It never is”
Gia stood up and held my hand
“I know you are frustrated Ivan, we all are but you are stronger than this, you are stronger than us all so keep it together okay? I’m sure we can get through this together” Gia said and I looked at her for a moment and then pulled her into an embrace
“I hope you are right Gia, I hope we’ll be able to get through this together” I said and I let her go
“I’m sorry for acting all cheesy and emotional, that’s not like me” I said
“It’s okay, we all get emotional once in a while and we need a shoulder to put our head on” Gia said and Layla looked at me and smiled
I motioned to her to come meet me in my room and I walked off
I paced round my room and Layla suddenly opened the door and walked in
“Ooh you are still so smart aren’t you?” she smiled
“You knew what I did? Oh I keep forgetting that you can read minds” I said
“Of course I read your mind, but honestly, when you suddenly began to act all emotional, I was surprised and then I looked into your eyes and I realized that smart brain of yours had developed some little plan to get Gia’s hair, so you got it right?” she asked
“I pulled a few strands when I embraced her” I said as I handed the strands of hair to Layla
“Good, I’ll conjure a tracking map of her for you soon” Layla said and I nodded
“I should go back to meet Gia in the living room now before she starts to get suspicious, we can’t risk that can we?” she said
“Go on” I said and she left my room
“I really hope I am mistaking Gia, you didn’t go against me and plan something behind my back did you? Please prove me wrong Gia, please” I said as I sat on the bed
Eva’s POV
I slowly opened my eyes and the first thing I saw was Eric’s worried face staring right at me
“Are you finally awake now?” he asked as relief washed over his face
“How long was I out for?” I asked
“It’s been more than 24 hours” Eric replied and I sighed
I tried to sit up and Eric helped me sit up on the bed
“I was so scared Eva, you scared the hell out of me” Eric said and I scoffed
“Why would the legendary Eric suddenly be scared?” I asked
“I was scared because I thought you were never going to wake up” Eric stated
“Why would me never waking up scare you?” I asked and he looked at me surprised
“Are you seriously asking me that?” he said and I nodded
“I’m asking because I do not know so tell me”
“Obviously because I am scared of loosing you, you’re the only thing keeping me sane in this crazy world, you are the one that makes me fight those demons with a great zeal because I want to not make you worry and return back safely to see your happy face, you are important to me Eva Jones, you being alive is important to me because if you die, you’ll be taking my sanity with you so better take care of yourself and do not ditch me” Eric said and I smiled
“Was that your version of a love confession?” I asked
“Call it whatever, you must be hungry, let me get you some food” he said and he walked out
I smiled as I watched him go but a tear unconsciously rolled down my face
Isn’t he so cute? How am I supposed to tell him that I am slowly dying and I just had a vision of a hand ripping my heart out when he’s acting so cute?…….

Eric’s POV
I went down stairs and found some leftover food in the kitchen
I heated the food up and took it too Eva’s room
“Here” I said as I placed the plate of food on front of her
“You made this?” Eva asked surprised
“Not really, I found a leftover in the kitchen and I just warmed it up” I said and she laughed
“Of course that’s more like you, you aren’t one to stress yourself over cooking food” Eva said
“Come on, I just didn’t want to waste food, this will do right?” I asked and she nodded
“Of course” she said and began to eat
I watched as she ate a spoonful each time and I smiled
She must have been so hungry
“I’m not comfortable with your stare Eric” Eva said
“Oh sorry, just pretend I’m not here and continue eating” I said
“How can I pretend you aren’t here when you are staring at me like that” she said
“Then what else am I supposed to stare at?!”
“Anything else but not me!” she stated
“Well it’s your fault that I can’t take my eyes off you, whoever said you should be born this beautiful?!” I said and she scoffed
“Did you perhaps read some flirty book while I was unconscious and then decided to practice it out with me when I wake up?” Eva asked
“You know I rarely read, I just…. I just realized that I’ve been holding myself back for too long, I am an immortal but you are not, unlike mine, you have a limited time to spend on Earth so why waste it running away from my feelings and holding myself back from being happy with you, I don’t want what happened to Ivan to happen to us Eva, I love you and I won’t be hiding that anymore” I said and she smiled
“Must have taken you a lot of courage to come to terms with your feelings” she said
“Of course, a whole lot of courage and it actually feels good now that I’ve let it all out” I uttered
“Well, I’m happy for you” she said and I looked at her surprised
“That’s not what you are supposed to say, in cases like this, I love you too is the right reply” I said
“And you tell me you haven’t being reading any romance book Eric Hammington?” Eva said
“I don’t need to read any romance book to know what your reply is supposed to be, it’s common knowledge” I said and she chuckled
“You said my life is limited and yours is not? How are you so sure about that? I think your life might be in more danger than mine right now considering the fact that Ivan got Bella’s blood so he can totally make a weapons strong enough to kill you now” Eva said
“Not necessarily” Dianna said as she walked in with her baby
“Dianna….”
“You were right Eric” Dianna said and I kept quiet to hear what she had to say
“As much as I try to deny it most of the time, I am a selfish person, I care about nothing and nobody except my baby girl, I’ll do anything, use anyone to protect my little girl and not care if any harm befell them, I use people like they are pawns in a chess game who have no other purpose except to serve me and obey my commands, I’ve realized all that and I do not think I’ll be able to change from being that kind of person, especially not when my Bella’s life is in danger so I’m going away, outside of this place, outside of Arcane City, it’s me Ivan wants, if I leave here, he’ll leave you guys alone and chase after me”
“No Dianna, you can’t leave with Bella, that’s too dangerous” I protested
“I think it’s time I stop being a Queen that hides behind her pawn, I need to come out and fight my battle myself and that’s exactly what I’m doing, I’ll be leaving with Bella tonight” Dianna said and walked out of the room
Layla’s POV
I had secretly went to my room and carried out the location spell on Gia
I was able to conjure up a map that always showed Gia’s location and I went over to Ivan’s room and handed it to him
“Here, be careful with that, you don’t want Gia to know you are keeping an eye on her whereabouts” I said and he nodded
“Thanks” he said and smiled
“You have really changed haven’t you” I said
“What do you mean?” Ivan asked
“Nothing, I’ll go check on Ethan now” I said and walked out
Even after her death, Sophie’s influence still lives on in Ivan, I mean when did he start saying “thank you” to people, that’s not the legendary Ivan Hammington I grew up to know
I went to the living room and Ethan was still laid on the bed unconscious
“Why is he taking so long to wake up?” Gia asked
“Are you asking that because you are worried about him or because you are worried of who will be working on the immortal killing spell if he doesn’t wake up?” I asked and Gia sighed
“What was I thinking trying to open up a conversation with you, it’s impossible to have a normal conversation with you without you turning it into a suspect case” Gia said and stood up
“You are staying with Ethan right? Cause I’m going to my room” Gia said and walked off
I sat beside Ethan and stared at him
I feel so bad whenever I look at him
I noticed him blinking his lashes and I quickly held his hand
“Ethan?! Ethan? Are you finally awake?” I asked as I clenched onto his hand and he slowly opened his eyes
“What….what happened?” he asked as he opened his eyes and looked around
“You collapsed last night that’s what happened, I told you not to stress yourself too much didn’t I? I told you to just get some rest but stubborn you never listen do you” I said and he jerked his hand off my hands
“I need to continue working on the spell, I’m almost through with it” Ethan said as he sat up
“Did you not here me Ethan, you need some rest” I said but he ignored me and tried to stand
He staggered and fell on the floor and Ivan who seemed to have being watching us quietly all this while quickly came to help him up and back on the couch
“How are you feeling?” Ivan asked
“Doesn’t matter how I feel, I need to get back to the spell, I’m almost done with it” I said
“You are won’t be working on the spell for now” Ivan said
“What do you mean? If I don’t work on the spell then who will?” Ethan asked
“I can study the spell and continue from where you stopped” I said
“I’ve already studied the spell, I know how it works, it will take a longer time with you doing it, I must resume the spell immediately” Ethan said as he tried to stand up again
“I said you will work on no spell till I say so!!!” Ivan gave a thunderous yell and Ethan slowly sat back down
“But our revenge?…” Ethan muttered
“Your life is more important than the revenge, do you not understand?!!” Ivan yelled
“Ivan” I called trying to calm him down and he faced me
“Explain to this boy here Layla, he’s the only relation of Sophie and Sophie left him in my care, there’s absolutely no way I am going to let him kill himself in a bid to get revenge, absolutely no way!! As much as I want to get revenge for Sophie’s death, there’s absolutely no way that I’ll be doing that at the cost of her brother’s life, taking care of him and making sure he’s always safe, that’s the least thing I can do for Sophie in her death, make him understand this!!” Ivan said and turned back to Ethan
“You will not be working on any damn spell or even be performing any magic as a whole till I am a hundred percent sure that you won’t collapse on me again, get that?” Ivan asked but Ethan remained silent
Ivan moved closer to Ethan
“I said do you get that?” Ivan asked again staring into Ethan’s face and he nodded
“Yes” Ethan muttered
“Good” Ivan said and walked off…..
