CHAPTER THIRTY: HER DISAPPEARANCE 3 ( BITTER TRUTH )
Muchen stepped back at the revelation, everything seem so surreal, how can I let this slide from my thought, Josephine always had blond hair and Mona came into my life with blond hair and blue eyes, why couldn’t I recognize her?
Josephine being reincarnated as a human is also something strange, am sure no one would have seen that coming, or this forest is lying to me? No, it only brings out the truth, especially from the dead
” Where are you ?” I stare at Josephine, her face is back ” Where are you now?”
” Mona’s body “Surprisingly she step closer and hold my hand ” I hate Jing, please help me to get rid of her, she will steal you from me, she hates us together” In all these things, I completely forgot about Jing
” I can’t do that ” clenching my hands, eyes drop from her eyes
” Why not?” She yells “She wants to split us apart” My head is beginning to hurt these insects are feeding too much, it’s starting to be very difficult to handle “We need her gone ”
” I have to go ”
” Dracula!!” She yell my name and I stop moving, hands still clenched, it’s been a while since someone calls me that “Don’t you dare deny me after causing the child’s death ”
” I didn’t kill the child!!!!”
” You knew fully well that Jing would do it, you knew!!!”
” I had no idea it was you Josephine!!”growling, I turn around, different emotions swirling in my face ” I had no clue you reincarnated, I was still looking for you……do you think I can love another!!!!” Exhale, I pureed ” I went deep into this God-forsaken village to find you!”
” And Jing?” She frowns “Can you say you feel nothing for her?”
” Josephine!”
” Say it ”
I had no idea what to say, I knew I can’t walk away, I was grateful Li-mu drag me out of there in haste, catching up with his pace, I pull my hand from his and increase my speed, leaving him behind, things are not how I expected them to be, how can Josephine be Mona?
Why is it that she lost her memory?
What killed her? Before I died, I made sure she was safe. And now hearing of her death, is a piece of very shocking news, knowing Mona is her, I want to go back to the palace and hug her tight, tell her am sorry, she will probably be confused.
Stopping myself, I stare at the huge building, right in front, who builds in such a place? Have they lost all kinds of thoughts?
I try stepping forward but couldn’t, a Barry is set for all kinds of night creatures, and only humans can step in, I look at my hands and Jing’s words came to me * I HATE MONSTERS* why should I bother myself with her, she will probably hate me too.
I lift my gaze to the window and frown, I stare closer and my friend even increases, Jing is right there, brushing her hair while staring at the mirror.
Am I hallucinating now? They are no way she will be in such a place, touching the back of my head, I remember the pain and blood, I was pretty sure it was Jing, was she kidnapped? If she was, I don’t think she will be smiling right now.
No matter how hard I try to move closer, the barrier is too much and the fact that this body is too weak to contain all my strength is irritating, I really should find my old body soon, should be in a coffin somewhere.
If that witch hasn’t messed with me, things will be different now. When I thought of leaving, she turn around, and our gaze met and that made me hundred percent sure it was Jing.
” Jing?” My voice was low, and she move close to the window, lips part but I couldn’t hear anything, I watch how she look relieved, she use her hands to ask me to wait, I watch her disappear for a few minutes before coming back, she throw some sheets down.
Climb down with that, and the moment her legs touch the ground, she quickly run into my arms ” You came for me!!”
” I didn’t,” I said in my mind, hands not moving, she lift her head, smiling “The forest here is creepy, how did you find me?”
” I didn’t” This time I said ” I didn’t come for you, I just kept running and suddenly, you’re here ”
” Does that mean fate wants us together?”
” I don’t think that’s why “Smiling, I touch her head “It’s a curse on my side”
” A curse?”
” Jing ” Looking down at her, I just couldn’t help but feel hurt, more hurt that she had to fall for someone like me, more hurt knowing even if I don’t reciprocate her feelings, I can’t let her go and that’s why I will lie, lie to keep her by myself ” I like you” I watch how her eyes lighten up ” but I love Mona ” and then it dies down a little ” what should I do?”
” Stay with me” she frowned “You don’t need Mona”
” Quite the contrary “Stepping back, my gaze moves to the sky ” I need Mona, she is the main reason I live today”
” What are you talking about?”
” Mona is special, I just realized this” I look down at Jing, and watch the hurt in her eyes ” I can’t let her go and I can’t let you go either ” She didn’t say anything “Stay with me Jing, stay beside me”
” You’re nuts ” tears drop from her tears “Why can’t you be satisfied with one?”
” It’s not my fault, I can’t choose”
” Yes, you can ” I watched as she step back “Stay with Mona, I will be somewhere else ” Before she could pass my reach, I grab her hand and pull her close “What do you think you’re doing?”
” Not letting you go!!!”
” Am asking you to let me go?” I said nothing else but watch the hurt in her eyes, oh no…am not the kind to get moved by things like this but one fact remains a fact, Jing is not the only woman that has loved me this way before.
Josephine was there for me throughout my struggles, I can’t leave her, I can’t possibly forsake her, I can’t leave Jing because of her…… The moment I hesitate before the thought of blood came to my head shocked me
” Let go!!!!”
Do I like her? Why is it that I haven’t tried to find the solution to this case with her? Why haven’t I read that file li-mu brought? Could it be that I don’t want anything to make me hate her?
” Muchen?”
” Jing ” I look down at her ” what’s your mother’s name?”
” Why are you asking me that right now?” She furrows her brows
” Just answer”
” I remember father calling her Lady Margaret once ” At the mention of that, I let go of her and step back, lady Margaret? That witch, that bastard of a woman…. looking at Jing, I frown, how can Jing be her daughter and be human?
” Preposterous”
” Muchen, you are acting strange right now”
” Excuse me, I will be going back to the palace”
” It’s late” I didn’t listen to anything else she is saying, I notice her footsteps didn’t fad either, she is following me ” Muchen, stop being weird ”

CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE: BITTER TRUTH
Muchen didn’t slow down his pace nor did he try to wait for Jing, more thoughts swirled in his head, and things keep getting more confusing, if Jing isn’t Lady Margaret’s daughter then who is she?
The assumption of Jing being a witch is canceled or will Lady Margaret use her child as a key to lock me out? She won’t sacrifice her child
” Lord Muchen!!”
Do I need to overwork myself about this? Can’t I just find a way to separate myself from this bond I have with Jing and then try to make Mona remember everything we have been through in the past?
Even if that would have made my job easier, I can’t forsake Jing, she, unfortunately, has become someone close to him ” Muchen ” she holds my hand this time around, I look at her and remain emotionless “You’re scaring me, why did you ask of my mother?”
” It’s nothing important”
” She is my mother ” Looking at her, I notice all the curiosity in her eyes “Do you know my mother?”
” Jing”
“You knew her didn’t you?”
” I didn’t” mumbling, I pull my hands out of hers and exhale ” is not safe in these woods, come with me “Holding her hand, I drag her with me due to her struggle to go back “Stop struggling”
” I rather stay with Ju-li than share you with Mona”
” You’re not sharing anybody ” I growl, not bothered to read the expression on her face, I kept moving forward “You just need to sit down tight while I think of something”
” What is happening to you?” She growls “One minute you’re fine, the other you are not, why do you always have to change personalities, change feelings and decisions”
” Jing ” my voice calm as I can make it ” you need to know that, you will pay for killing Mona’s child ” I mumble, I have no plan on making her pay whatsoever, but now that I know it was Josephine, even if her memory is far gone, her energy and source of witchery will be intact but small.
If Lady Margret didn’t truly give birth to Jing, that will only make Jing human, and the curse will take effect on her but if Jing isn’t human, it may still work, depending on the kind of person she is
” What are you saying?” She successfully pulls her hand back ” I kill nobody child ” I look at her, how she felt the need to lie to me somehow made me angry
” You do not tell lies to me Jing ” I growl ” I do not plan on harming or punishing you over something like that ” She didn’t look relief, that same expression remain on her face while she study me carefully ” I do not care if you kill anyone, you should never lie to me ”
” What about you ” she mumbled, I notice how hard she try not to cry “You keep lying to me, you keep confusing me with your words, you keep choosing others over me!!!!” She is practically yelling now, that too …..in this forest, we really should get out of here
” Jing is not safe…..” She slaps my hands away from her
” Am not done talking, you need to listen carefully ” She steps closer ” I do not appreciate the fact that you keep choosing her over me, tell me what Mona has that I don’t, tell me what you think she has that I can’t give to you!!!!” I remain speechless “Yes, that’s exactly what I keep saying……I can give you everything you ever need ”
” You can’t “Clenching my hands I look at her “You will never accept me for who I am ”
” What are you saying?” I watch a tear drop from her eyes “You are the king!!!!”
” Yes, I am!!!” I growl back ” I am also a monster” She steps back at my outburst ” Yes, the dream you thought you had wasn’t a dream but reality, I drank from you “My fangs elongate and I show them to her ” I am what you despise the most ”
” What do you mean ”
” Come with me” Holding her hand, I grab her completely to the small house down the hill where Li-mu is waiting for me “The woods aren’t safe ” The moment we step into the building, she stops moving
” What do you mean monster?”
” Let’s not talk about this ”
” Lord Muchen” surprisingly her voice is calm ” you must know the talk about a key since you just called yourself a monster ” Turning around I stared at the look in her eyes, I knew that’s how she will feel but I still told her
Look of fear, I notice her body trembling “Tell me about the key ” She is scared but still talking, I took five steps towards her but she took five back
” This is why I will choose Mona over you ” I smile “You’re just my food, nothing else ” moving away from her, my hands still clenched while I regret everything, was I too fast to tell her the truth? I should have waited.
I definitely shouldn’t have called her food either, what’s wrong with me, who cares about what you call her? Absolutely nobody.
Sitting down on my bed, my gaze moves over to Li-mu who is currently leaning on the door frame “Milord”
” I do not wish to hear it ” he will say regardless
“I think you were in a bit of a hurry, I see no reason why you disclose such a truth with anyone”
” Li-mu”
” Milord?”
” If you have two women in your life, one from the past who you love dearly and the other, you literally can not live without her, if she dies you die but you are still not sure who you love most ”
” Milord, are you perhaps talking about Josephine and Queen Jing?”
” Indeed”
” Life is important,” he said without even thinking ” I will pick the one which I can live when she is by myself, love always grows and the past might have ended for a reason ”
” Li-mu?”
” Milord?” He how his head
” Do you find Queen Jing suitable for me?”
” Yes milord, she is as fearless as you are ” he slowly lifts his head “You are still trying to regain your full energy, you need a Feist queen by your side, not a fragile one ”
” You do speak the right words ” I smile ” But I can’t do away with the past, without my past I won’t be right where I am right now ”
” Milord?”
” Josephine is important and so is Jing ” I mumble ” I mean, they are both my wives ”
” Pardon if I speak out of line milord ” Li-mu frown ” Josephine is nothing but a ride woman who did horrible things too, she deserved death and I will always be pleased that she found the worst life ever ”
” Li-mu”
” I can never forgive her for what she did ” he growl “Never”
Mona sit gently on the bed, hands still rubbing her stomach “My queen” one of her maids run in her direction ” The king has left for his hunt and Queen Jing is missing ”
” Could they have left together?”
” Rumor has it that the queen was kidnapped” Smiling at the words, I wave my hands dismissing her from my chamber, the moment the door closes shut, I smile, such a wide smile that anyone can easily notice how happy I am.
” That only means that Ju-li is with her now “Exhaling, I stand to my feet and stare at the mirror ” I pray she never returns, I just pray she decides to spend the rest of her life with him, that way I will be there to console the king.
She will be invisible again and then the king will be mine, it’s been a day since her kidnapping and I wonder how she is doing.
My door opens harshly, I stand up to my feet and look at Ju-li ” what’sWhat’s”
” I lost her ” he look so troubled ” I lost her, I don’t know If she was eaten in the forest” I fake a worried expression, that witch can die for all I care, I don’t give one bit of concern.
I want her dead
” That would be for the best ” I mumble and ye shoot me a frown gaze
” What do you mean?”
” If she is dead, that would be easier for me, so go on and cry but have it in mind ” I frown and stare at him “No matter what, Queen Jing should remain dead, nobody hit us know about her whereabouts ”
” Mona, I will never accept Jing’s death ” he look so offended by my choice of words “You must love Muchen and that’s the same way I love Jing ” I watch him leave and I look in the mirror.
For the fifth time this week, I got a fast glimpse of someone else in reflection, for a split second, I look like someone else, and I can’t help but to wonder, who she is.
