CHAPTER SEVENTY THREE: FINAL BATTLE

The kiss between Jing and me was long and deep. For a few moments, I allowed myself to drown in the ecstasy of her taste. But then, the thirst took over, and with each taste of her blood, I felt myself growing stronger. It was intoxicating, and I couldn’t bring myself to stop. With each swallow, Jing’s body grew smaller and weaker.

When I finally pulled back, I caught her in my arms before she could fall to the floor. “Jing?” I called out, concern in my voice.

“Am fine,” she mumbled, her face pale. She reached out to me, her hand trembling. “Are you okay?”

I tried to hold back the tears that welled up in my eyes. “Am so sorry,” I choked out. “I didn’t want this to happen, I swear to whoever is in the heavens.”

“Muchen,” she said, trying to comfort me.

“I know,” I replied, tears streaming down my cheeks.

“You really should stop crying. You’re a big boy. Am not dying.”

I chuckled despite the distress I felt. “Don’t treat me like a child.”

“Then you better don’t cry,” she teased.

“I can’t help it,” I confessed.

Lifting her up, I carried her over to the bed and gently placed her on it. “How are you feeling?”

“Sleepy,” she whispered, her eyes half-lidded.

“I’ll be back before you wake up,” I promised.

“Okay,” she replied, her voice growing weaker.

“Stay safe.”

“I should be telling you that. You’re the one going to fight,” she said with a wry smile.

“That’s true,” acknowledgement in my voice

I leaned in and kissed her forehead before silently watching her fall asleep. I left her chamber, headed to my quarters, talked to Li-mu, and made preparations to leave the palace for the Forest of Memories. As I rode through the dark forest, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of foreboding. The forest looked eerie and sinister at night, its towering trees casting ominous shadows.

The trees even seem more alive than ever, the clouds getting darker with each step I take in…..one could call me a fool for going in.

Margaret’s voice interrupted my thoughts. She appeared suddenly, seated on a massive rock, as if she had been expecting me. “I expected you,” she said confidently. “I knew you would come.”

“Why did you come anyway?” I asked, perplexed.

“Alexander was acting all fishy,” she replied with a sly smile.

I couldn’t ignore the provocative, transparent white dress she wore. “Was your thought to seduce me?” I questioned.

“Seduce you?” She laughed softly. “You love only one woman, and I know I can’t get between that, so why bother with seduction?”

I frowned, realizing I might have walked into her trap. Dismounting my horse, I patted it thrice to send it off, giving me room to fight.

Margaret moved swiftly, rushing to my location in the blink of an eye. Her hands pressed against my chest, her gaze locked onto mine.

“This might just be called trying my luck,” she mused, her voice a seductive purr.

Raising my eyebrows, I asked, “Your luck?”

“Indeed,” she replied with a knowing smile. “This is a good opportunity for you to stab me too.”

“That won’t kill you,” I stated firmly.

“What are you expecting? Pulling my heart out?” she taunted.

“That won’t kill you either.”

“You did your work,” she added, a hint of bitterness in her tone.

“Witches die by fire, everybody knows that,” I retorted.

“But vampires can’t make fire out of bare hands,” Margaret argued.

“I’m not stupid, Margaret,” I smiled. “I know that.”

” Everything about you is scarry ”

” You killed Mona ”

” And I don’t regret it, she is such a fool in love “Margaret remain quiet for awhile before smiling ” you took Jing powers, isn’t that a bit selfish ”

” Enough with the talk ”

” As you wish ” and with that, she release a huge magic power that sent me moving back with speed and hitting a rock, if I was normal person, I will be dead.

Coughing out blood I look at her, is not always easy for a vampire to kill a witch but if I can run fast enough before she can see me, that will help….before she could react, I speed up, running faster than her eyes could detect, elongate my fingers and then in a blink of an eye grab one of her leg and pull it out of her body, throwing it far.

It took her few minutes to notice her left leg missing and when she did, her scream fill the whole forest, the forest energy must be feasting on her memories, which will reduce her and my power …..which only means I have to finish her off, and fast.

Jing is waiting for me.

“You dare!” Margaret screamed loudly, causing the ground to tremble. Suddenly, I noticed the smoke in the air. Alexander had set a holy fire to surround us.

I advanced toward Margaret, grabbing her by the neck before she could unleash more of her powers. Our lips met in a fierce kiss, and I kept my eyes open to watch the shock in her eyes. But my legs moved faster than she could react.

She didn’t even struggled to push me away, but I moved quickly, biting her tongue off and immobilizing her hands. With a forceful shove, I sent her tumbling into the blazing inferno. Her screams echoed through the forest, but I couldn’t deny the satisfaction I felt at finally defeating her.

Then I heard footsteps behind me. It was likely Alexander. He said, “You did well.”

I turned around and at that moment, a sword pierced my chest, finding its way into my heart. Blood gushed out of my mouth as I stared at him in disbelief.

Reon smiled. “I think I have forgiven you,” Reon said with a twisted smile, his sword piercing my chest. Pain shot through me, but I couldn’t form words. I fell to my knees, watching Reon turn to walk away.

I couldn’t let him escape. Summoning the last of my strength, I moved swiftly, my hand reaching for his heart. With a brutal grip, I pierce my finger into his body, grab the heart and tore it apart. “Bastard,” I growled as his eyes widened in shock.

Before he could react, I threw the heart into the burning fire. He fell to his knees, and I followed suit, my strength fading rapidly. I struggled to make sense of what was happening.

The forest seemed to close in on me, and I heard voices and approaching footsteps. But suddenly, my heart, which had been pierced, stopped beating. My vision dimmed, and I lost consciousness.

CHAPTER SEVENTY FOUR: HER FINAL DECISION 1 ( LIFE AND DEATH )

I couldn’t stop worrying about Muchen. It had been a week since li-mu brought him back home, and he was still asleep. Diamond hadn’t spoken to me either, which made me think that maybe I couldn’t see her anymore since I had no magical fragrant in me. I doubted that, but everything was a blur, and my main concern was Muchen.

“Milady, you need to calm down,” Alexander walked into the ward. “The bastard has to wake up.”

“Respect him!” I growled. “Why are you still here?!”

These days, I had been on edge, with Muchen not waking up, it was freaking me out.

“Only he knows Fang’s whereabouts,” Alexander responded. “He needs to wake up and give me my fiancΓ©e back.”

“If he doesn’t wake up, my husband dies,” I replied with a heavy heart. “Your future wife will still be alive. Don’t you dare compare.”

Alexander simply responded with an understanding hum.

“Leave,” I mumbled. He walked away.

Holding Muchen close to my body, I watched his pale face. “Look at you, resting while we do all the work,” I said with a fake smile. The thought of bathing or changing clothes had left my mind. I was entirely focused on Muchen.

Why haven’t he woken up? The physician had mentioned his heart no longer beating like a human’s, but that didn’t mean he was dead, right?

Picking up a knife, I moved to another fresh layer of skin that I hadn’t sliced during this week. I gently opened his mouth a little and poured some blood into it, but there was still no sign of him drinking. Instead, he continued to breathe.

The frustration was growing. Was it the blood? I felt myself becoming thinner with each passing day. I was scared. Muchen needed to wake up, for both of us.

Is this how he will be forever? More tears flow from my eyes, I am on the verge of breaking down ” Muchen?” More tears flow down ” am so sorry for leaving you alone, for letting you fight this battle on your own……this is my fault!!!!” Falling to my knees I clench my hands on my aching chest ” I can’t live without you, how am I supposed to live, I don’t think I can!!”

” Please don’t leave me, I beg of you….. please don’t!” Holding it to myself is not working anymore, the more I try to, the more the pain in my chest increased, I could feel myself becoming weaker than before, each day I give him new blood but he still doesn’t bulge, he still look live less

“The key,” li-mu’s voice pulled me out of my thoughts. “My lord needs his remaining life source from you.”

“The key?” I stood up, my hand still on my chest. “You mean…”

He cut me off. “Taking the key from you would mean death. You would die because they is a possibility that this key is also your life source.”

I didn’t care anymore. “How do I get it out of me? How can I bring him back?”

“The witches’ coven. We need to travel there,” li-mu said, moving closer to Muchen. “We’ll take him with us. But if they mention that you might die, we’ll stop. Lord Muchen would hate me if he woke up to such a condition.”

I had no intention of stopping, but if that was the price to get Muchen back to life, I’d pay it.

“Okay,” I said, my mind made up.

the thought of taking my bath or changing clothes has left my thought, I immediately help Muchen out of the physician ward and into the carriage, li-mu start it and surprisingly the journey was faster than expected

Horses doesn’t run this fast, looking outside the window, I notice that it was li-mu who was moving fast, he was running like his life depends on it, if he knew about this why didn’t he tell me? He should have mentioned something earlier.

Holding Muchen close to my body, I look at his pale face but still handsome, “I will bring you back ” I fake a smile.

We embarked on a treacherous journey to the witches’ coven. The carriage rumbled through an eerie forest, where gnarled trees reached out as if trying to grab us, and strange creatures lurked in the shadows. The path twisted and turned, making our journey feel endless. The tension inside the carriage was palpable, with Muchen resting against my shoulder, still unconscious.

As we continued deeper into the forest, the air grew colder, and the atmosphere more ominous. Suddenly, the carriage hit a rough patch, and the world outside spun into chaos. It was as if we had fallen into an abyss, with nothing to grasp onto. The carriage disappeared into thin air, leaving us suspended in the dark void.

After what felt like an eternity, we landed on a stony ground. My first thought was to protect Muchen. The sudden jolt had caused my grip on him to tighten. As I held him close, I looked around to find ourselves surrounded by twelve witches, all seated in a circle.

The witch with a crown approached us, her eyes fixed on Muchen. “Lord Dracula,” she said with a hint of urgency, trying to snatch him from my arms

But I wasn’t about to let go. “He is mine,” I declared, my voice filled with determination.

” Queen of all” li-mu bow down ” please help him, help lord Muchen, he need his life source from Jing, the key” I stare at her and the memories of when I first met her, hit me back, during that weird dream which Margaret place me in.

” Queen Christina” I mumble her name then knee down ” as a former daughter of Zeus, I beg for your help ”

” Taking the key from you is a fifty fifty percent chance, you might die and you might not ” she move closer ” I can’t guarantee your safety and if this doesn’t end well for you, they is no way for you to survive, no body will be able to revive you……you will die”

” I will like to hold on to that fifty percent chance of my survival ”

” What will be my reward ” she ask, of course, a witch don’t work for free

” Lord Muchen will grant you a kiss” I look at li-mu after he said that, his gaze didn’t meet mine but I guess that will be the only thing she would accept, last time, she was really obsessed with Muchen.

” No” she smile ” I need something small ” I watch how she walk towards li-mu ” waking him up, you will end up with me ” li-mu lift his head and glare at her ” my personal servant ”

” That’s Im….” I start to object but li-mu beat me to it.

” As you wish Christina” he said it with so much anger but she just chuckle

” How delightful” after minutes passed, I slowly drop Muchen on the ground and knee down in the process, a dark cloud surround us, just me Muchen and Christina, I watch her recite ancient spells, I could feel my body getting weak and really dizzy.

I gazed down at my stomach and saw something bright. It was moving toward my chest. The feeling of nausea overcame me, and I opened my mouth. A bright light, shaped like a ball, left my body, slowly forming into a heart before entering Muchen’s body.

Christina stepped back, and the cloud disappeared. I rushed to Muchen’s side, holding his hands. I felt the warmth returning to his body.

“Jing,” he mumbled, his eyes still closed. “I’m sorry, Jing. Where are you? I’ve been trying to speak, but…”

“Muchen,” I shook him. “Wake up!”

And then, just like that, he slowly open his eyes, still looking weak, his eyes filled with shock. He looked at me with worry and sadness.

“You’ve lost so much weight,” he said, his eyes glistening with tears. “Why are we in the witches’ coven? What happened?”

I stammered, “I…”

But I couldn’t continue. I felt a wave of dizziness and fatigue wash over me. My gaze lowered to my hands, the moment I cough and I saw the blood.

“Jing?”

“I’m fine,” I forced a smile, wiping my bloody hands on my cloth “I’m okay. How are you feeling?”

“I’m better,” Muchen replied.

I was glad he was okay now, but speaking was exhausting. My body felt weaker than ever. I realized I couldn’t afford to sleep, not right now. Who knew if I’d ever wake up if I did?

I couldn’t let myself sleep, but my strength was draining with each seconds that pass.
