He walked faster through the tall grasses while she managed to scre-m but can’t scre-m well due to the punches she had received in the stomach.he smiled ev!ly while he move faster.he was about to enter a car when a car halt beside him.hastily,he dropped Abigail in,side the car while Kingsley came out of his car and dragged him back.

Other members of the black bird confraternity also came out to beat dayo,he scre-med,wailed.they didn’t stop not until Abigail begged them to stop.

“Please don’t k!ll him,just save me” she pleaded while they left him.

“When next you try this with my woman,I am going to k!ll you” Kingsley said while Abigail stared at him with terror.what does he mean by his woman?.

“I will come for you all” dayo replied amidst pain while they all left.

Throughout the journey back to Kingsley house,he was silent.he dropped off the other members and entered his apartment carrying Abigail behind.

He dropped her on his bed and went to the kitchen to prepare warm water.he is living in a self container.he prepare her tea and raised her up to drink it.

Abigail gulped down the tea and sighed
“How are you feeling now? Should I get you pain reliver because of your stomach?” He asked

“I will be fine,the tea soothe my stomach and I want to clean up”

“I don’t want anyone to be aware of what happened to you that is why I brought you here.can I help you to clean up?” He asked searching her eyes for an answer.

“Help me clean up,you are funny,are you my boyfriend? You re just my friend”

“But you are weak to do anything”

“Don’t worry,I will manage” she replied and smiled while Kingsley sit back.

She managed to shower and dress in one of Kingsley cloth, before starting a conversation with him.

“How did you know that I am in danger?”

“I got eyes all over you and once my eyes is all over you,you won’t be hurt”

“Hmm! You made mention of your woman when we are out there,am I your woman?” She asked

“Yeah,my friend is my woman and i can call you anything”

“Really! What if I am with my boyfriend”

“You don’t have a boyfriend Abigail” he cut in

“What if I have someone?”

“Where did you want to put me if you have a boyfriend”

“Put you? But I don’t remember us dating right!

“Yeah we are not dating but Abi baby I have interest in you but am taking it slow” he confessed

“Really!

“Yes I do,that is why you are perfect for my upcoming job”

“You want to turn me to your woman so that you can use me anyhow right!

“Not like that,you will understand everything later” he replied

“Just waiting for your reply to join my group,this school can’t guarantee you the protection you want but I will guarantee you that” he replied smiling.

“I will think about it” she replied.they both chatted,talk about random things before finally sleeping.

The next day,Abigail left earlier for her house to prepare for the afternoon papers.

“Abigail,where have you been?you only said that you want to get yourself card so why don’t you come back home yesterday night?” Ayomide asked as Abigail stepped in,side the house.

“It’s a long story….

“Then make it short”

“Did you remember that dayo guy that we had a fight yesterday morning?”

“Yeah! What about him?”

“He double crossed me and beat me,if not for..

“Not for who?” Ayomide asked while Binta winked at Abigail

“If not for God,I am Sha safe from his hand”

“Where did you now sleep yesterday night?”

“Nevermind” she replied and went in to bath,she ate and relaxed before preparing for her examination.

Abigail is done for the day papers,she went back home while her parents calls her

“Good afternoon ma”

“Afternoon my daughter,Abigail,I don’t understand your father again oooo” her mum lamented over the phone.

“What happened ma?”

“His illness has started again oooo and we need money”

“Illmess again! Ah mummy! I don’t have money on me,I only had 1000 in my bank account and I don’t think it is enough,how is Dad now?” She asked almost crying

“He is I the hospital and the doctor requested that we should deposit 100,000 before anything,I have sold all the goods in my shop,rally around and all what I could get is 20,000.d doctor said that it musnt exceed tomorrow…

“Ah! Tomorrow is too early,how did we want to do like this?”

“I don’t know ooo my daughter,maybe you should talk to your friends over there to lend you some money,your dad must not die ooo” her mum lamented over the phone while she end the call.

She don’t have the idea of getting money anywhere close.

“I will talk to Binta,after all she has money but wait! She I s part of Kingsley members.i don’t want to ask help from those people,let me try Ayomide out first” she muttered to herself.

Getting back home,she explained her plight to Ayomide.

“Ohh Abigail,you should have talk earlier,I just gave out my money to my boyfriend,I can’t afford seeing him lacking funds” she replied

“You just did what! Ah God where will I see the money now? Dad is dieing”

“You can ask from Binta now,am sure she get some cash” Ayomide replied .

“Alright! Where is she?”

“She went to get some stuffs”

“Alright! I will wait for her”

Binta arrived late at night while Abigail walked up to her.

“Binta please,I need some urgent money from you,I will pay you back the money,just lend me please,my dad is dieing”

“How much are we talking about here?” Binta asked

“Oh girlfriend thank you,it is 100k”

“Hmm hundred thousand,and you expect me to gt that large amount of money without doing something else.you see,that money is not enough for me to spend on a day,I use it for only drinks.that is why I am telling you to join us.u won’t have to run helter,skelter everyday looking for money.you get protection,you get rich.you have your own freedom so what else…do you want your dad to die…do it for his sake,even d old man will be happy that you saved his life through some ways…. think about it baby”Binta adviced.

Binta advice seems convincing,after all she is the first born of her family and responsibilities lies with her……

She stare into binta eyes and….

Abigail knows that accepting her offers means that she is part of their group.her mum voice echoed in her ears and she shake her head.

“Are you going to help me out or not,I want pure help from you binta,you are my friend”

“If you are not accepting my offer then there is no way I can give you the money because I am going to collect some money from Kingsley,what did you say about it?” She asked while Binta shake her head.

“Don’t worry,I will find a way to get it” she replied and went back to her seat.

The following day
Abigail has rally around asking other coursemates for help but can’t get any.her mum called her telling her that her dad had few hours and can’t get more money.this saddens her heart as tears trickled down her face.her friend that she thought can help her out is insisting on her joining their gang.this brought fear into her heart.does it mean that her dad will die that way?

She shake her head to wave off those ev!l thought and made up her mind to join them.
She walked up to binta and smiled.

“I am ready” she wispherd while she hugged her.They both walked back to Kingsley house.

“She is ready boss”

“Wow! Really? Welcome to freedom” he said and smiled.

“Binta has narrate your ordeal to me and I am taking it up.Here is 200k,use 100k for ur dad treatment and d remaining money for ur own upkeep.the initiation process will commence this night” he replied handling the money to her while she smiled and thanked him.

She quickly send the money to her mother and keep the remaining money.she knows that she is treading a deadly path but once it is to save her father life,there is nothing wrong with it.

She is the first child and responsibilities will always be on her neck,she need a stable income to sustain that.her mother always tell her about the responsibility of a first child and she now see the meaning to her words.

At night
Binta and Abigail sneaked outside without Letting Ayomide know,they both arrived the group secret place.

“Welcome back to our midst Abigail” Kingsley said with a big smile on his face while she also smile back.

“Come closer” he commanded while she move closer to him.the other members of the group put on black polo with black trouser surrounding them.

“The initiation process will begin now!!!

He picked up a dry human skull and poured a greenish liquid in,side of it.he stretched the skull towards Abigail telling her to drink it.Abigail refused at first but after the assuring words from Binta.she collected it and gulped down the content, squeezing her face In the process due to the bitter taste.

“That’s very good of you,you are now part of us.like I told you then that the work I am going to give to you is next year,I will personally trained you before the time comes but before then,you are going to perform an oath to this group never to leave it,betrayed anyone here and say out whatever you see here.to start the process,you will be given a sharp knife to slit your palm while your blood will be collected into the human skull back” he explained and Abigail was given a sharp knife.she slit herself and her blood was collected into the skull.They all shouted after this and jubilate among each other, before finally returning back to their house.

Getting back home.Abigail knew that her life won’t remain the same again,not what she witnessed out there,she look forward to meet her parents after she is through with her papers.

The next day
Ayomide is the first person to woke up among the three girls,she yawned and stretched her hands,she look at her side and see a mark on Abigail’s hand.This is the same mark that she see on Binta palm,what is happening? There is something fishy Among the two ladies,she concluded in her mind to find out.

The other ladies woke up and all prepare for the day paper.Abigail sat down in the examination hall with the other students,they are all waiting for the invigilators.Dayo walked up to her.

“Bravo! You are part of them right! Because I don’t understand the reason why they will come to your rescue.so all those silent and simple manners has some skeleton in their cupboard.God saved you,if not for that,I know what to do to you.Now listen young lady,tell your boss that I am coming back for the head of each one of you.mark my words” he said and left while Abigail laughed our hærd.

“Kingsley had to hear about this” she said.

Abigail left the examination hall after the day paper,she didn’t wait for her friends and walked fast to Kingsley house.she met his door locked,she waited patiently for him.

Kingsley isn’t aware that Abigail is around,he is coming along with a lady,the lady clinged to him while he blushed.

“Let’s go to your place now” Lara wisphered into Kingsley ear

“To do what!

“What did you mean by to do what? Aren’t you my boyfriend or is this our first time?”

“I know that this is not our first time but I have told you the last time we see that I am not interested in this relationsh¡p again.a lady has stole my heart” he confessed while Lara frowned

“A lady stole your heart,is it Binta?” She asked curiously.

“Binta for where! Don’t worry you will soon Know her and if you know her,don’t try shit with her because she is like my property.you know what I am capable of doing .don’t see the other side of me”

“Okay let’s do this for the last time” she said

“For only today ooo” he shouted

“Yeah! Just today” she replied and wrapped her hands round his neck,she keep pecking and clinging upto him.

He arrived at his house and met Abigail angry glare starring at them.

“Abi baby,hope there is no problem? He asked trying to shake her but she slapped off his hand off her.lara Is surprised at this and move closer to her.

“Who the hell did you think you are that you can slap off my baby hand,did you know who he is?”

“Lara please excuse us” Kingsley ordered

“I am not moving an inch from here” she replied.Abigail get more angry and left in fury.

She didn’t know the reason why she is jealous seeing him with another lady.perhaps,she is starting to like him…..
