Mandy sighed deeply and gaze at her husband. He nodded for her to tell Grace. Grace was looking at both of them enthusiastically and her heart pound as they both keep her in a deadly suspense.

“What happen guys, tell me ” Grace panicked.

Mandy sighed.

“Dace got a call form the general and he told him that he as transfered him to Oakland in California “Mandy informed dejectedly.

Grace felt her heart sinking into her stomach, the painful s-nsation and that brought tears into her eyes.

“Wh… what ” Grace exclaimed and croaked.

“Yes, Grace we will have to relocate to Oakland, but your children ” Mandy muttered.

Grace squawk and thereafter she clean her tears and put on a contend serious expression.

“As long as I get to see my children photo ” Grace said effortlessly.

Mandy was bemused.

“So you mean we can take your children far from you. If you don’t want this, you can tell us” Mandy stated.

“No, Mandy you will give them a better life faraway from here. It okay, at least they’ll be….
Tears sank in her throat, she was unable to speak.
She burst into shrill cry.Mandy gave her the baby.
She took the baby and wept the more.

“How I wish I can be with them, why does fate deprive me from happiness ” Grace agonized.

Mandy let out a tear from her eye and she clean them.

“Don’t worry Grace, I will send you their photos every year, any occasion we’ve to go I’ll send the photos. I know of a agency here that I can do. All I need is to send the photos to them and they will deliver it to you ” Mandy said.

Grace nodded absentminded , the thought of her children being faraway is giving her cramps. But that is the best decision she could come up with. That will be best for my children , so she thought.

#Five_days_later.

Grace sat on her bed in the cell, staring at her children photo. Mandy took pictures of them and gave it to her.
She wonder when she will get to see them.

” Mrs Grace, someone is here to see you ” a cop came to inform her.

Of course it Lacey, who else will come to see her after Mandy left.

The cops open the lock and she went to see her visitor.

When she got to the room, Lacey hug her. Grace try to free herself from Lacey grip coz she was chubby. But remove herself gentle as she can.

“What that on your hand” Grace ask, coz Lacey held a box.

She handle them over to Grace.Grace took them and glance at the box and her confusedly.

Fast forward

Grace got the diary and wrote about her life, starting from when she got married to Jesse and her experience behind bars.

Days roll into weeks, weeks roll into months and months roll into years, it was exactly fifteen years Grace as spent in the prison walls.

Mandy stops sending photos of her children a year ago.
She never knew why, she tried calling her or her husband, but their numbers where not reachable.
Grace thought something might had happen to them. She wept all night,praying that nothing bad as happen to them.

#Five_years_later.

“You’re free now” the cop open the cell for Grace.
Grace walk out of the cells. She imganie the outside, if it as change or not.
For the first time in twenty years she will be seeing, cars apart from the cops cars, she will be seeing the streets.
But that wasn’t what is in her mind now, what she wants now is how to find her children.

Grace took her box and diary with her.
Lacey came with her elder son with a car and they took her into the car and drove her to their home.

She’d got to their home and met her other children. Two girls. They welcome her. She look at them and imagine her children as them. Grace ask for Lacey’s husband and she told her, he was not yet back from his work.

Lacey took her to an empty small room in the house.
She settled down on the little size bed. Grace smile at everywhere it was the first time in twenty years, she was seeing furniture’s coz all she saws behind those bars was concrete walls and steel.

But finding her children is more important to her now and she will need Lacey help for that.

She’d refresh up and Lacey came to call her for lunch. She went downstairs, Lacey serve her some salad,and rice with orange juice. It as been so long she had good food and Lacey knew without being told. She’d was more than happy that her friend as being release. And both Grace, Lacey and her children sat down to eat.

“So, what plans do you have Grace my dear friend ” Lacey ask in a mouthful.

She never wanted to ask her right now, but she was quite the inquisitive type, but moreover she’d want her to start planning what to do. She knew Grace was so eager to find her lost children and she prayed Grace attempt will prevail.

” first I want to get a job to be able to get a visa to travel to California ” Grace said abruptly.

“Okay that is really thoughtful of you. But my question is which job the you’d intend to do ” Lacey inquired.

Grace sighed deeply.

” I’ll just look for a par time work and maybe after months I will be able to get a visa” Grace replied.

” Fate as made you stay in that walls for twenty years and also brought you outta of here, that fate will reunite you with your children ” Lacey embloden.

” If you’re looking for a par time work, I know of……
Lacey’s elder son was about to tell her about a job, but stop half way.

” Why the you stop Mason ” Lacey ask her son.

He sigh before replying

” Mum the Job might be an insult to Mrs Grace”

“No Job is an insult to me, if the job is decent and can Fetch cash then I’ll go for it ” Grace
Said solemnly.

“Okay then, the job is a small restaurant, they need people to do the cleaning up” He explain

“A cleaner you say “Lacey said.

She turn to Grace and ask

“Do you accept this job ”

” of course I will, I want to find my children as soon as possible. I wonder how they are “Grace said.

Mandy’s residence

Arthur was having dinner with Mandy on the dinning. They both was chit chatting while eating.
Alyssa walked in and peck Mandy on the cheek.

“So who was your day with you friends ” Mandy ask Alyssa as she took her sit on the table dishing out food. It was spaghetti and some chicken sause.
It was Arthur and Alyssa favorite. Mandy make sure she makes them occasionally.

“Oh mum, we just went on to visit so many place, the beach, the amusement park and lastly the movies ” Alyssa counted, using her fingers.

Arthur grin and Alyssa caught him. She fake a frown.

” a Jerk, why the grin ” Alyssa fired.

” You know, you like exploring you should be call Dora the exploral. That was your favorite cartoon back when you and I was just a toddler and am sure you’ve being affected coz of that cartoon ” Arthur teased her.

Alyssa huff. She stood up to attack 👊 Arthur.

“Hey, jerk how dare you ” she said, scurry to him.
Arthur stood up and ran. They both ran round the dinning table.

” Hey, both of you should stop that ” she order and was laughing at both of them.

Sudden she was choked by the food and she started couching.

“Oh my word ” Alyssa panicked. Arthur quickly turn the jug of water to a glass and handled it over to Mandy, she took it and and gulped than the glass. She sigh in relief.

“Oh mum will are so so sorry ” Arthur apologize and hugged Mandy. Alyssa also did the same.

“I love you both. You are guys how my world, after you dad died six years ago. If your dad haven’t died at the war front. We could’ve be happy “Mandy lamented and sobbed.

“Mum, please don’t start this again. It really hurt to see you like this ” Arthur pointed out, he hate to see is mum like that and Alyssa also.

“Please mum cheer up ” Alyssa solace.

Mandy clean her tears and peck both Arthur and Alyssa cheeks, they both gave pecked her back together and she chuckled.

“Mum, I promise you that I’ll become successful one day”Arthur said taking is seat next to Mandy. Alyssa did the same.

“My aim here is to became a business tycoon, whom is business run’s in millions “Arthur concluded.

“You’ll, just take your job in that company serious ” Mandy remarked.

” And mum I’ll own my own clothes business one day and perhaps have my own grand star hotel ” Alyssa promised.

“I know my children, you both are gonna make me proud. I just hope no one will take you away for me ” Mandy muttered absentmindedly.

Arthur and Alyssa glance at each other confusedly coz these don’t understand what she met by taking away for me.

“Mum, why will someone take us away from you ” Arthur ask

It was then Mandy realize what she as said, what she wasn’t supposed to say. Arthur and Alyssa might find it weird.

“I’m just saying”Mandy lied.

She knew that Grace will surely come finding her kids coz she was sure that Grace was realesed from jail. The thought of knowing that they will so learn about their real mother was kill her.

Mandy as grown to love them a lot. That she became selfish. She’d want them both to address only her as mother and no one else.
She intentionally destroy all contact with Grace and stop sending her photos six years ago right after her husband died.

Mandy thought if Grace comes, she will claim the children to herself and she will be left alone coz, she doesn’t have a children of her own, this was the reason why selfishness came .

“Mum No one can take us away from you”Arthur said, even if he find it weird that she thinks someone will think of taking both of them from her.

“Mum Arthur is right ” Alyssa concluded.

“Okay, guys let’s it ” Mandy said

“Yeah that the spirits mum, you always will be our mother ” Arthur thrilled and Alyssa smiled.

#Four_months_later
.
Grace was at the airport about to board the plane. Lacey and her children was there to bid her fare well.

Grace as was able to purchase a visa for California, through the par time job and with the help of Lacey and her husband.

Sooner her number was called and she move majestically.

“I’ll surely find my kids at any course” Grace assured to herself.
