⏰ CHAPTER 7 ⏰
🌻 Michael’s POV 🌻
“I’ll be back another to put our plan on building more classes for the school to effect, thank you for your time Mr Principal”
“No, thank you and your company for wanting to help Westview High School” he said as he stood up and we shook hands
We left the office and I stopped and faced Tyler
“Don’t tell Dad about all that happened with James this morning” I said
“Of course I am going to tell him, why shouldn’t I?” He asked
“No Tyler, he can’t know”
“Why?”
“Because….. Because if he does….”
“He might hurt James again right? I can’t believe you still care about him after everything he’s done to you, James doesn’t deserve your love Michael!” Tyler said
“I do not love him Tyler”
“Then why do you care if Mr Whistler hurts him or not?”
“I agree that I don’t want my Dad to hurt him but it’s not because I love him, it’s because I want to do the hurting myself, I want to be the one to hurt him” I sighed
“I can’t drive you back to the company, take a cab” I said as I began to walk away
“Aren’t you going back to the company too?”
“I have somewhere else to go” I replied
I entered my car and I drove straight out of the school
I parked my car in front of a big building and I entered
I stopped in front of the receptionist
“Please am looking for…..”
“Michael!”
“Rachel” I called as looked back and walked towards her
“What are you doing at my work…..” She couldn’t complete her words as I pulled her closer to me and hugged her
“Because I needed to hug you, I came here because I needed this” I said and she struggled to break free from my hug
“Come on Michael, this is my place of work! Everyone’s watching”
“One minute, just stay still for one minute” I pleaded and she stopped struggling……
“What happened?” She asked as we sat in a small cafe just opposite her office and she gave me a cup of cream latte
“Did you meet James? You are always so emotional when you meet with him” she said
“Yes and I hate the fact that I always have to get so emotional whenever I meet him!”
“That’s because you still love him Michael, if only you’ll put your anger aside…..”
“I can’t and I won’t”
“Come on Michael, what’s wrong with you?! You weren’t like this before, why do you suddenly have to be so bitter?!”
“James made me this way! And until I get my revenge on him I will remain this way! You should go back to your office, thanks for comforting me” I said as I placed a kiss on her cheek and left the Cafe
🌻 James POV 🌻
Stefan left the school and I went to the staff room
Immediately I entered everyone’s eyes were on me but I ignored them
Am not in the mood for their gossips
“James” Sarah called as she moved her chair closed to mine
“Am sure you are aware that Michael Whistler came this morning to to discuss with the Principal on how to build more classes here” she said and I nodded
“Yeah, I heard”
“Then why aren’t you telling us” she said and I looked at her
“Telling you what?”
“That Michael Whistler is your brother” Another teacher said
“What?”
“Come on, stop playing dumb, I actually heard you guys when you were arguing in the hallway, he called you brother” Sarah said
“You heard wrong” I said as I stood up with my books and walked out of the staffroom
I went to Grade 12 class and I heard to shout before they all listened to me as usual
“Are you okay Linda?” I asked one of the students who was putting her head on the desk
“Yes Sir, just a bit sick” she said and I nodded
“Let’s get back to our books then”…..
I got back home and I slumped on the couch as I thought about Michael
“Poor boy, I’ve caused him so much pain” I said as I stood up to go take some drink
🌻 Rachel’s POV 🌻
I finished work at the office and I drove straight to James’ place
Both Michael and James are very similar, both of them break down each time they encounter each other so am sure James is brooding and wallowing in self pity now and I have to be there for him
I parked my car outside, got my own spare key and opened the door
“James!” I yelled as I quickly dropped my bag and ran to him
He was dead drunk on the floor with a glass of Tequila on his hand
“Tequila?! Like seriously James when did you start drinking?!” I said as I tried to help him up
“Am a failure Rachel” he said as he laughed
“You are so drunk” I said as I removed the glass from his hand and tried to take him to his room
“I just….. I just wish Michael won’t hate me so much but I deserve it right?” He said as he laughed again

“To me, Michael….. Michael is the only family I have left, I…. I don’t want to loose him Rachel” he said as he looked at me and I stopped
“You won’t loose him James, you won’t”
I managed to get him to his room and we both fell on the bed
I tried to stand up but he held my hand
“Don’t ever leave me too Rachel, what would I do without you by my side” he said drowsily and I smiled and held his hand
“I’ll be by your side James since I love you” I said as I placed a kiss on his forehead and walked out of the room
🌻 James POV 🌻
I woke up feeling light-headed as rays of the sun reflected into my room
“Ughhh” I groaned as I stood from the bed
I checked the time and it’s past 10
“Oh my God!” I exclaimed as I quickly ran to the bathroom, took a cook shower and dressed up
I went to the sitting room and met a plate of food and a note
📃 I waited for you to wake up but seems you really needed the sleep so I left you. And that’s a plate of rice pudding for your hangover
“Did she sleep over here?”
I opened the food and it did look enticing but I had no time to eat it
“She should’ve woken me up, now am late for work” I said as I closed the food and ran out of the house
Am too late to wait for a bus so I took a cab straight to the school
I was expecting the environment to be silent as all the students would be in class by now but I met the opposite
Lots of students were outside and they were focused on the rooftop
I looked up too and saw a girl at the edge of the rooftop
“What’s going on?”
“It’s Linda, a grade 12 student, she’s trying to jump off” a student answered
“Jump what?! Am in charge of Grade 12 students!” I said as I ran inside the school to the elevator but it wasn’t working
“Perfect timing for you to stop working elevator” I said as I ran for the staircase
I climbed the stairs to the 5th floor as fast as I could and at last I was at the rooftop, panting and sweating
Sarah, Julia and a few other students were there trying to stop Linda
“Stop this nonsense Linda and come down from there, what the hell is wrong with you?”
“What is wrong with me?! Do you even care? You claim to be my friend but you know absolutely nothing about me, I was going through so much but you didn’t even care to know neither did you want to listen” Linda said and I slowly walked towards
“I am ready to listen” I said and she looked at me “Talk me Linda, I care about you and am ready to listen, tell me what’s wrong”
“Mr James” she called looking at me and I slowly moved closer to her
“Yes Linda, what’s wrong?”
“My life is a mess Mr James, a total mess, my parents died few years ago and my uncle’s family took me in but I wish they never, they make my life a hell for me Mr James, they treat me less than an animal, they make me wish I was dead, so am really going to die right now” she said as she made to jump
“Wait wait wait” I quickly said and she looked at me “I understand that you’ve went through alot alone but that’s not the end of life, you don’t have to give up on life”
“You have no idea what I went through Mr James, you don’t know the pain I passed through” she said
“But you…..”
“They molested me in every possible way and I cried each night thinking of ways to end my suffering, death is my only escape Mr James, my life is too painful”
“Life is pain!!” I yelled “I wake up everyday I”m in pain, I go to work in pain, do you know how many times I’ve wanted to just give up? How many times I thought about ending it?!!”
“Sir….”
“Little minds are tamed and subdued by misfortune but great minds rise above it, you can rise above this misfortune Linda, let me help you” I said as I brought out my hand and she hesitated
“Please” I muttered
She slowly took her hand and I helped her down the edge of the rooftop
“Am sorry Mr James” she cried as she hugged me and I patted her back
“You are alright now”……
