Chapter 78 :- The Maze.

Every loving couple out there in the world can agree that there’s nothing better than waking up from a nice beautiful sleep after having an amazing satisfying sêx with their partners. After concluding the wild tango that Riley and I engaged in, I slept like a baby without knowing for how long. Riley who was by my side made it even more comfortable as he wrapped his hands around me and with our entwined skin to skin contact, we slept like there was no tomorrow.
Despite not wanting to wake up from this beautiful skin to skin entanglement and long peaceful slumber, Riley and I had other responsibilities to take care of starting by getting out of this dimension. After enjoying my long well-relaxed sleep, I finally woke up feeling good all over my body. As I stretched myself yawning excitedly, I hummed with joy as I felt the gentle breeze touching my skin, the feeling was so good that I couldn’t resist twitching. After stretching out myself good, I turned around and pulled myself closer to Riley staring at his charming face. I sighed with joy thinking about what my life would have been like if I hadn’t met him decades ago. Thanks to him, my life was way better than it was before and despite all that has happened, I have no regrets whatsoever.
As I stared at Riley’s face while he was still asleep, I began to play with his lips and nose rubbing my fingers on them gently. Before long, Riley’s eyes twitched and then opened gently staring at me lovingly. After yawning a little, Riley wrapped his hands around my waist and pulled me closer plastering a gentle kiss on my lips.

Riley ➡ Good morning.
.

Christen ➡ Good morning. (giggles)
.

Riley ➡ Why are you giggling?
.

Christen ➡ I’m just glad that you had a nice sleep.
.

Riley ➡ How could I not? I hope you slept well too?
.

Christen ➡ I did darling. It’s one of my best sleeps yet.
.

Riley ➡ Hmm, so what now?
.

Christen ➡ I’m hungry, let’s eat.
.

Riley ➡ Ok.
.

Despite being stuck and living the stone age life with Riley, finding food wasn’t that hard. Thankfully, the trees in this dimension were blessed with enough fruits to sustain the 2 of us. Sometimes when the fruits were starting to get scarce, I would use my magic to fish out any edible herbs or plants in the dimension for us to eat.
So after Riley and I had gotten ourselves some fruits to eat, we found a strange fountain which poured out warm water. It was good to bath with a warm water again, the feeling made my body to twitch like crazy. As Riley and I bath inside the fountain, we played in it doing all sorts of childish and naughty things which included a quickie. After having our fun in the fountain, Riley and I went back to our spot and wore our clothes. Since we had come this far, it was best that we kept going until we find a way out of the place and return home.
Since time was useless in this dimension, it was impossible to tell how long or how much time Riley and I spent walking through this thick forest but it wasn’t all bad though, we walked through the forest like young lovers holding hands and having interesting conversations. Talking wasn’t the only thing we did, we also did some sight seeings admiring the big gigantic trees that stood above our heads and the strange beings we saw along the way. As we got further and further into the thick forest, Riley and I saw finally reached the end of the forest but what we saw before us was just too much.
Here before our very eyes was a wide rocky plain covered with several valleys which all had several passages through them ; In order words, Riley and I came across a wide and large canyon with different passages. As we stood looking bewildered and shocked by the view in front of us, a large hawk the size of an SUV jeep landed instantly scaring the hell out of us. The hawk looked very intimidating and it’s bright eyes focused on Riley and I, it didn’t even blink. At first, I thought that the hawk was going to attack us but then the strangest thing happened.

Giant Hawk ➡ Easy you two! I’m not here to you.
.

Hearing the giant hawk talk left Riley and I speechless, we’ve both seen our share of strange phenomenons but this one was just next level. Back when I was a kid, my mother used to tell me stories about strange mystic animals that talk but I never really believed her until now.

Christen ➡ I can’t believe my mother was right all this time but asides that, who are you?
.

Giant Hawk ➡ I am one of the guardians of this dimension, this particular region is under my watch.
.

Riley ➡ This is just unbelievable.
.

Giant Hawk ➡ SILENCE!!! you 2 are trespassing and I would like to know why you’re here.
.

Christen ➡ We were thrown into this dimension to train and now that we’re done, we would like to get home.
.

Giant hawk ➡ I cannot trust your words, especially since you’re a witch and your male companion arouses my suspicion. He looks human but he doesn’t smell like one.
.

Christen ➡ How did you know I’m a witch?
.

Giant hawk ➡ I’ve seen many of your kind in this dimension over the centuries and like them you will end your demise here.
.

Riley ➡ ENOUGH! I don’t care what you are or who you are. If you threaten my wife again, you head will roll.
.

Christen ➡ Honey stop. Look, my husband and I are not here to cause any trouble. We just want to get home back to our children and we don’t know how. I don’t know what happened between you and my kind but I assure you I’m not like them.
.

Giant hawk ➡ Hmm, alright. I believe you. It’s a good thing that I watched you and your male companion before coming here.
.

Riley ➡ We were watching us? Since when?
.

Giant Hawk ➡ Right from the moment you mysteriously popped into my domain. Everything you both did, I watched even the unsightly things that you both did.
.

Christen ➡ Oh, this is embarrassing.
.

Riley ➡ Ogbeni, haven’t you heard of the word “Privacy”? What my wife and I do is not for your eyes to see.
.

Giant Hawk ➡ I don’t care. You’re both in my domain and nothing would make me more happier than to watch you both go.
.

Christen ➡ Which we will, if you tell us where we can find the pond that will allow get out of here.
.

Giant Hawk ➡ The pond is right in the middle of this canyon but it’s not going to be easy. This canyon is a moving maze just like this dimension, the paths change once anyone gets through the canyon.
.

Riley. ➡ Ah, what kind of wahala is this? Isn’t there a simple way? Can’t you fly us above so that we can see where the pond is?
.

Giant Hawk ➡ No, it won’t work. Getting to the pond isn’t what you should be worried about. This canyon is called the Devil’s belly and it devours anyone who steps into it. There are abominable beings within this canyon that will tear you apart if you cross their paths.
.

Christen ➡ So in order words, this is suicide, Yes?
.

Riley ➡ It doesn’t matter. My wife and I will make it to the pond. We can’t stay here.
.

Giant Hawk ➡ If you’re so willing to risk it all then, I’ll help you.
.

Christen ➡ How?
.

Giant Hawk ➡ Come closer and pluck one of my feathers. It will guide you both to the pond’s location but be careful.
.

Christen. ➡ Why are you helping us?
.

Giant Hawk ➡ I owe you no explanation. Now go and I hope we never meet again.

Despite being warned about the dangers of the canyon before us, Christen and I were ready to walk through the valley of death. It’s no secret that Christen and I were afraid but this isn’t the first time we’ve crossed paths with death especially I since I’ve died twice before but our experience wasn’t the things that gave us courage to go through this death maze valley, it was our resolve and the promise we made to each other to see our families and friends again.
After Christen plucked one of the giant hawk’s feather, it flew away left us where it found us and shortly after the hawk was gone, Christen and I headed straight to the canyon. True to the hawk’s words, the canyon was like a maze and there was a lot of passages that could make one easily get lost. So in order to survive this, Christen and I stayed together and follow whichever path that would lead us to the pond. Luckily for us, the feather we got from Hawk began to display some very interesting signs.

Christen ➡ Honey.
.

Riley ➡ What?
.

Christen ➡ The feather, its shaking in my hand.
.

Riley ➡ Release it, I think it’s trying to shoe us the way.
.

Christen ➡ But what if it disappears?.
.

Riley ➡ We can’t be sure of that.
.

Christen ➡ But what if it does?
.

Riley ➡ Jesus Christ.. Christen, just let the feather go.
.

Christen ➡ I won’t, not until you’ve answered my question.

Riley ➡ Woman, we don’t have time. Just let the feather go.

Christen ➡ And if it disappears then what?
.

Riley ➡ CHRISTEN!!

Christen ➡ Yes?
.

Riley ➡ Please let the feather go.

Christen ➡ But what if it disappears..
.

Riley ➡ ARRRGGGHH!!! FOR GOD’S SAKE JUST LET THE DAMN FEATHER GO.
.

Christen ➡ Did you just shout at me? Your wife?
.

Riley ➡ Christen please..
.

Christen ➡ Apologize now or I’ll destroy this feather.
.

Riley ➡ You can’t be serious.
.

Christen ➡ Don’t test me. Apologize.
.

Riley ➡ God, why are you women so complicated? Okay fine, I’m sorry.
.

Christen ➡ Is that an apology?
.

Riley ➡ Honey please, we’re wasting time.
.

Christen ➡ I don’t care. Apologize to me in a proper manner or I swear I’ll destroy this feather. You choose.
.

Christen stood defiantly waiting for me to apologize and knowing her like the back of hand, I knew she was pretty serious about what she said. Honestly, I didn’t want to apologize but its a small price to pay to get Christen to cooperate and get out of this dimension.
So throwing all pride aside, I knelt down and apologized to Christen and the witch b-tch enjoyed it. She smiled defiantly like she had achieved some important task but whatever it is she has going on in my shrewd feminine mind, I don’t care.

Christen ➡ Hmm, now that’s better.
.

Riley ➡ So are you going to let the feather go now?
.

Christen ➡ Eh.. No.
.

Suddenly as I was about to lash out at Christen, the ground below us erupted and out of it emerged hundreds of undead zombie like corpses. These undead corpses were all dried up and some of their organs were missing especially their eyes but their appearance wasn’t as terrifying as their formation. They moved and stood united like the way ants do and judging from their tenacity, they were bad news. Luckily for Christen and I, we managed to dodge them in time before they got their hands on us.

Riley ➡ Jesus, that was close.
.

Christen ➡ Yeah but don’t worry. I’m sure we can easily destroy them. Are you ready to swing that machete one more time?
.

Riley ➡ I’m way ahead of you.
.

In that moment, I grabbed the handle of Sango’s machete and pulled it out of it’s scabbard. The machete flashed with lightening as I raised it high up above my head and feeling it’s power again felt really good. Shortly after I pulled the machete, the undead corpses charged towards me in their great number but I turned them all to dust as I swung the machete at them, the lightening bolt on the machete struck the undead corpses so hard that my hands were about to explode . The feeling was just incredible and even if Sangó is no more, I must say that he was truly a powerful Orisha.

Riley ➡ Wow.
.

Christen ➡ How did it feel?
.

Riley ➡ Amazing.
.

Christen ➡ Amazing how?
.

Riley ➡ It just felt really, really good.
.

Christen ➡ As good as when we’re in bed or more than that?
.

I turned around looked at Christen wondering whether to answer her or not. I was still annoyed by what she made do earlier and now she’s intensionally trying to stir up another drama. Christen who realized that I knew what she was up to came up to me and rub her hands on my chest staring at me deeply into my eyes. She then began to bite her lower lips seductively extending her hands downwards towards my lower region but then she slowly pulled her hands up and wrapped them around my neck pressing her voluptuous body on mine like glue. After that, she reached out as if she was going to kiss me but then placed her mouth close to my earlobes whispering.

Christen ➡ (whispering) So tell me, which is more good huh? Me or this stupid machete?
.

Riley ➡ I know what you’re doing and I’m not going to fall for it.
.

Christen ➡ Not even for this?
.

Riley ➡ Christen, stop. We can get naughty after we’ve left the canyon alive but now let’s focus about how to stay alive and find that pond.
.

Christen ➡ Okay let’s……
.

Before Christen could finish her statement, we both felt the ground rumbling beneath our feet and before we could figure out what was happening, thousands of the undead corpses emerged from different direction heading towards us. In that moment, the feather which was in Christen’s hands slipped from her grasp and began to float in the air heading to one passage that was free from the zombies. Without being told what to do, Christen and I ran and followed the feather to the passage it was leading us. The zombies followed us of course bur they were the least of our problems cause what came next was even more terrifying.

As Christen and I ran after the feather, the canyon began to act strangely and by that I meant the passages in it were changing. The valleys in the canyon moved swiftly rearranging everything that’s within it. Luckily for Christen and I, the path we followed gave us a headstart to avoid to crushed to death, the zombies that followed us were being crushed like tomato and before long, there was no sign of them.
The feather which was heading to one direction began to lead us into different corners and passages, it was hard to keep track of it and we couldn’t use teleportation cause we didn’t want to miss it even by the slightest heartbeat. Chasing the feather was exhausting but we eventually stopped to catch our breath after the canyon had stopped moving. Even the feather too stopped as it lead us to another passage.
Unlike the other passages, this one was long and narrow and the place was a little bit dark but what bothered me wasn’t the darkness but the loud hissing sounds that echoed the air. Christen who saw how disturbed I was tried to calm me down.

Christen ➡ Honey, are you okay?
.

Riley ➡ These sounds.. I don’t like it. We need to move. I believe there are snakes here and I don’t like snakes. They creep me out.
.

Christen ➡ Snakes are wonderful creatures.
.

Riley ➡ Please don’t say that. Don’t.
.

Christen ➡ Okay, I won’t. Just relax everything is going to be okay.
.

Just as I was about to calm my nerves, I heard a very loud hissing sound above me and as I looked up, I saw a giant snake staring down on me with it’s green eyes. This giant was so big that even the size anaconda was nothing but a tiny worm compared to it and as if it’s size wasn’t intimidating enough, its appearance was another thing entirely. This snake had 4 eyes and it’s skin produced small regular snakes like skin hair. Seeing this snake paralyzed me instantly, I couldn’t move even if I wanted to. The snake who sensed that I was struck by fear reached down swiftly to swallow me and just when I thought that I was going to die, Christen pushed me out of the way but my fate was sealed.
As the snake crashed hard on the spot I stood on, the ground collapse creating a big dark pit. Before long, I soon came to my senses and realized what had happened, Christen had gotten in the way and now she was nowhere in sight. Despite being alarmed by the thought that Christen was crushed to death, I tried to think positively believing that she was still alive and as I called out her name, the giant snake popped out of the pit and the unexpected happened.

Riley ➡ CHRISTEN!!
.

Dark serpent ➡ So the witch was your wife? I’m afraid she’s dead. Shame I couldn’t taste her sweet flesh. (hisses)
.

Riley ➡ I don’t believe you.
.

Dark serpent ➡ I don’t care what you believe. You will not leave this valley alive and I’ll see to that. Prepare to die.
.

In that moment, the snake roared expanding it’s head like a cobra. As I felt the strong sinister aura coming from the snake, I knew I had no chance against it but just as I was about to run, more giant snakes began to emerge out of nowhere heading towards me. One of the snakes that had reached close to me smacked me hard with it’s tail sending me flying across the valley . Suddenly as I was hurling in the air, one of the snakes jumped and opened it’s mouth wide open. At this range and distance, there wasn’t enough time for me to react and all I could ask myself was ” Is this end? ”
