Truly they were trapped in,side the lab at the ungodly hour of the night. All looked at Vicker for an option since he was the leader.
“There must be a back door. Someone needs to distract them.” he quickly left them in search of another door, but stopped to see others staring at him. “What? You guys should help me search for another exit and you’re looking at me.” he requested.
Sandra followed suit, leaving Benji and Julianne behind. The young reporter looked at Benji with fear and eyes full of tears.
“I’m so scared to die this way. I’ve not even heard from my family if they’re okay. How can someone bring this disease to the city? I don’t even know if we are with the good or bad guys.”
Benji pulled her to himself. “I promise you that nothing will happen to you, not until Ned sees you again.”
The lady looked up at him. “What do you mean by that?”
“It’s..”
“I’ve found an exit!” Sandra’s voice interrupted them. Hastily they met the rest.
“Who will distract them away from our car?” Julianne asked. There was a moment tranquillity among them until Sandra replied saying, “I will.’
“No” Vicker objected. “I will go.”
“I said I will. I insist.”
“Alright.” he accepted as an afterthought. “When you distract them, run towards the gate where we shall be waiting for you with the car.”
Sandra nodded.
“Stay safe.” Julianne hugged her before they departed.
Sandra walked through the darkness of the exit like a rodent through a h0le. She came out to see the hungry vampires from afar. She began to wave her hands, shouting, “Hey, see me here!!”
The speed in which the vampires attacked her got her heart pounding. Therefore she bagan to run towards the gate as instructed, shooting at them in the process. “Vicker, hurry!!” she cried.
First, the car engine kicked off followed by the headlight before the speedily rotation of the back tyres. As they were running towards the gate to meet Sandra, Benji and Julianne, through the window, opened fire on them too. Vicker matched the brake immediately he got to Sandra.
“Get in!’ he urged.
Sandra ran across the car as others wined up their glasses. Before the vampires could get to them, they had sped away through the school gate.
“Yes, we did it!” Sandra exclaimed happily, while Vicker smiled like others at the back seat.

Aminu heard the horn of the car from in,side then rushed outside to open the gate. Sooner did all walk in,side the living room like welcomed travellers. Ned cornered Julianne immediately.
“How are you? Hope you’re fine.”
‘Yes, thanks.” she gazed at him, surprisingly saw his l-ips coming in contact to hers. Steadily, he k-ssed her. Only then did she understand Benji’s statement.
On the same atmosphere, Grace rushed to welcome Vicker but the young man glanced at Sandra and walked away to another direction saying, “Everything we need is here! We shall begin work as soon as possible.”
Grace felt embarrassed.
“As soon as possible? No sleep?” Aminu asked.
Vicker looked at others to see them concurring to Aminu’s question.
“Fine, we shall sleep then begin early tomorrow.” he said.
“There’s food.” Cassandra announced.
“I’ll be at the boys quarter. Everyone should be at alert. Sleep with an eye close and keep the other one open.” he began to walk out to the boys quarter followed by Mark.
Others had no choice but to dine. All circulated the dining table, eating the food silently like the last supper. Mrs Rose refused to eat her food. Suddenly, Grace stood up to the kitchen and came out with two plates of food.
“Where to?” Sandra asked her unabashedly.
“To give the boys at the boys-quarter food.” she replied.
“Let me do that.” Julianne volunteered to avoid problem coz she had a clue of what was going on between the three girls.
Like a statue, Grace stood until the plates left her hands to Julianne’s. All watched her leave the room, while Grace sat down.
Getting to the door of the boys quarter, Julianne listened to Mark and Vicker’s conversation.
Vicker stood at the window, spacing into the dark sky with twinkle stars. On a chair found in the room was Mark, seated with legs crossed.
‘Vicker, are you sure you’ll achieve this? I mean using the current crises to become the governor of the state?”
“Yes, with the cure or vaccine to the disease, I can become anything” he turned from the window. “First, we eliminate the governor by inviting him here, so that we’ll have easy access.”
“What about Alice?”
“She doesn’t bother me. Achieving this goal is my priority.”
Just then, Julianne entered with the plates which she kept on the table. The two men watched her silently until she began to leave. Just at the door, Vicker called her attention. She turned.
“How long were you at the door before coming in?” he seriously asked her.
“I don’t understand the question.” she pretended.
Quietness stretched in,side the room.
“Call Grace for me.” Vicker broke it.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea.” Julianne refused.
Angry, Vicker wanted to confront her, but Mark stood up in between them instantly. He gestured at Julianne to leave which she did without hesitation.
“Let her go, man. I know you love Grace but If you wanna achieve your goal, you have to put those women aside for now.” Mark advised him like a father.

Julianne met Ned and Benji in,side a room where they were freshing up. She stood at the door to see Ned shirtless then admired his hairy chest.
“What brought you, Julie?” Benji asked him.
“I overheard Vicker and his friend.” she swallowed hærd. “They want to kill the governor, use the power of the cure to take his seat.”
The two men looked at each other.
“He’s stupid and greedy. We must not allow that happen.” Ned suggested.
Benji shook his head pitifully for Vicker. He hissed then sat down on the edge of the bed. “Don’t mention this to anybody. I’ll kill him myself.” he concluded.

THE NEXT MORNING.
Grace was in,side a mini lab with Henry, Williams son, on video call, trying to achieve a positive result. Already, Vicker and Mark had come back to the living room to keep watch. Suddenly, a voice come from outside through megaphone.
“This is the Police, Vicker we know you’re in there with your men. The government needs the formula. Bring it out or we attack you!”
Meanwhile, Policemen had surrounding the building through the fence. Everybody in the building steered up fearfully by the voice. Even Grace came out from the mini lab. However, all had taken a position at several windows to retaliate, waiting for Vickers command.

“This is the last warning; come out with the formula!” the voice said again through the megaphone.
Vicker ran upstairs to the balcony where he saw the police and their vehicles. “We already have a cure to the disease brought upon us by Alice! I won’t release it until I see the governor in this house!” his voice was heard by all even at downstairs.
Hearing that, Ned and Benji gestured at each other. Benji ran upstairs with his gun.
“Where the f-ck are you going to!” Mark turned from his window to see Julianne and Ned aiming their guns at him.
“What is going on?” Mrs Rose asked.
Nobody answered her. All heard footsteps from the staircase only to look to see Benji following Vicker from behind at gun point.
“They want to kill the governor and take his seat using the power of the cure. Julie overheard them” Ned finally replied the woman.
Seeing all that, Sandra aimed her gun at Benji. “I’ll shoot you before you kill him.” she said.
“I’ll shoot you too if you do.” Julianne aimed her gun at her.
Only the gatekeeper, Grace, Cassandra and Mrs Rose became dumb without knowing what to do.
“Three of you are making a mistake.” Vicker said.
“No, you are.” Benji challenged. “You’ll walk out there and give the police what they want.”
“Over my dead body.” Vicker swore.
The room remained quiet. Benji open fire on Julianne, while Ned shot him dead instantly. Benji shot Vicker on the head too. Blood splashed, but was shot by Sandra also who dropped her gun surprisingly.
Already, other women had been scre-ming their voice out!
Ned didn’t care anymore, he rushed Julianne on the floor, gushing out blood from her mouth.
“Julie, stay with me, please.”
The young lady kept looking at him until she gave up the ghost. Ned cried in a loud voice.
Grace and Cassandra also cried beside Vicker’s corpes while Aminu folded himself at a corner with hands covering his ears. Sandra just stood motionless, shedding tears too. Truly there was redum at home.
The police barged in at that moment then took control of every other thing. They collected the formula, produced the cure to the disease then arrested Alice who later died in jail.
Days later, Grace was still mourning Vicker when her mother came. She sat with her on the cushion.
“Greed and bad lifestyle killed Vicker. Stop crying my daughter.” She said, patting her back.
