Richærd was gently dragged out of the car, since all this while he just sat there staring at what used to be his source of happiness, his best friend, chat partner. His dad new virtually almost all his secrets save for the crush that he had on the girl in school, he was just too embarrassed to tell him about his feelings.

He stood there as tears blinded his vision, tears throtled down his cheeks. He couldn’t even muster himself to cry out loud, for fear that this was reality. His heart felt so heavy as if a huge rock was placed on it, the inner pain was just gnawing at his heart, the possibility of him never seeing his dad again dawned on him. He was so overwhelmed in agony that he didn’t know when he scre-med out loud.

The people who gathered around rushed up to him to prevent him from harming himself or doing anything stupid. He watched the almost mangled frame of his dad pulled out of the car.

“Why today of all days? Today that was supposed to be a day filled with so much joy, all of a sudden turned bleak and so dark, turned to be a black friday, that would be etched into the deepest part of his heart. Agony nearly made him run mad, but in all this he never muttered out a word. It was just too fast to be reality.

His father was buried and various sympathizers moved en masse to sympathize with the family.

It was already six months after his dad’s death, but whenever Richærd looked at his mom, he felt this heart wrenching pain. She had already became a shadow of her own self. She would sit all day brooding, looking into empty space. Sometimes he would even barge into her while she was weeping and staring at the picture frame of her husband, whenever he caught her in the action, she would immediately pretend that all was fine. But didn’t need a soothsayer to tell him that his mom was really losing it. He could even see a few sprinkle of gray hair, on her hair, something that has never been there, but suddenly appeared out of the blues after his dad’s demise, she had already develepod eye bag and her eyes were always red, a clear testament of constant tears and sleepless nights, spent thinking about her husband.

All this made his heart filled pains and coupled with guilt. This guilt that came from the fact that he believed that he partly was the cause of his father’s death, because if he hadn’t taken him out that particular day he should be resting after a hectic day from work, none of this would have happened. His younger brother had became a lot calmer, unlike his usual unrestrained self, always keeping to himself and doing more of the smiling than talking. Truth be told it was a huge blow. The mental torture itself was unbearable.

His mother and brothers smile, even made him feel they were blaming him, there every actions made him feel they all were looking at a murderer. Though he knew all this was a lie, that it was nothing of the sort, but he couldn’t just help himself from slipping more into the wicked hands of guilty. It was more like he gave, this feeling a welcoming smile into his heart to torment him.

A month later his uncle who was from her mom’s brother visited them, he had just arrived from London and paid his sister’s family a visit.

He really was a successful young man, who was really at the prime and pinnacle of his career as a model and was really making huge waves abroad.

He was really saddened at the turn of event for his older sister and was drawn to tears when he saw the state she was in. She was the opposite of what he last so of her. The witty, all smiling and those ringing laughter of hers were now replaced, with daily brooding.

He later called Richærd and after knowing that he was about to write JAMB, promised to sponsor him through the university. To at least ease the load off his sister and to help her the little way they can.

Richærd though still sad was still very much happy, as he also got a new, sleek Android phone from his uncle, and he really was happy.

Two days later, just like a fiery volcano, with it’s magma nearing for destruction, a devastating news filtered into their family once more. Adding more to the pent up sorrow.

Richærd’s uncle who just visited them two days ago, slept to never wake up. He actually died in his sleep. The cause of his death was practically unknown. But the medical practitioners had already certified him dead.

And this was really the straw that broke the camel’s back. Richærd and his mother’s life plunged.
