FATE OF MIRABEL
Episode 8
Christabel: I don’t understand, what do you mean?
Pius: will you shut up! Why did you look at Clem that way or did you think I didn’t see all your moves huh? Christie do you think I’m a fool or do you love him because his more richer than I am?, then you’ll be more than stupid if you’re having hope that Clem will even look at you twice because he doesn’t care about ladies ok!
Christabel: why are you saying this to me Pius(she starts crying) are you now calling me a flirt? That hurts ok. She cried more, Pius hissed and retired to the room.
Christabel sat down and thought of all Pius said, she couldn’t stop crying because she fell in love with Clement long before she even knew Pius.
7 years ago.
She was sent to the market by her aunt, but she forgot to carry the money for the food stuff. After buying all she wanted, she opened her purse to find it empty. Just then Clem walked in to see the seller already yelling at her and calling her names, he asked what the problem was and when he was told he paid for the goods. Clement wouldn’t have gone to the market in The first place when there are maids in the mansion to do that, but he promised his parents a surprise meal. It was kind of fun to him when he told his parents he can cook more better than the maids of the house and his going to the market to get the foodstuffs himself. His parents refused at first but he insisted.
Since then Christabel traced him and found out he’ll be leaving the country soon, she then lured Pius to herself as the only best friend of Clem so she will get more information about Clem. But unfortunately Pius came to love her so much till the extent of engaging her, at first she wanted declining but she couldn’t risk loosing every link with her love.
Christabel: now I can’t lost it all, I have to accept the fact Clem will never love me and I can’t let my relationsh¡p with Pius be over or else I’ll regret it so much. She got up and met Pius in the room and apologised to him, telling him everything that happened. Pius was at first was shocked and angry that he was only used, but he eventually forgave her and their relationsh¡p had a new turn.
That night Clem thoughts was filled with Clara and he knew his going to see her the next day.
The next morning at Mr Anthony house when the family was having breakfast, Clem told his parents he has employed a worker in the company to harvest fruits. His parents only nodded and they didn’t bother to ask who it was because the position was too low and unimportant.
He hurried his food and left to the company to see Clara. He got there and saw Clara busy collecting fruits into the basket, he smiled and drew nearer.
Clement: hi madam Clara.
Clara: good morning sir, she replied smiling.
Clement: let me help you, he said almost getting the basket from her but she declined and struggled and the basket dropped.
Clara: see what you’ve done now sir.
Clement: that’s because you were stubborn, I’ll pack it then. They both picked the fruits while other workers watched with surprise.
Clara: thank you, you shouldn’t have bothered anyway. She said as Clem esc-rted her to drop the fruits.
Clement: it’s nothing, I’m even longing to do this because I love it.
The relationsh¡p between them Grew stronger and they already knew they were in love with each other.
Nora on the other hand became dead to Clement, she tried all her best to be noticed but Clem never gave her a chance. Few months later, Clement went to the company as usual and noticed Clara was absent, he rushed immediately to her place and met her sick. He wanted taking her to the hospital but she refused, he stayed back with her until her fever subsided. But something happened between them for the first time, though Clara tried to stop it but she couldn’t “after all he deserves it”, she said to herself.
After the 😯, Clem was sad and troubled, he couldn’t believe he did not control his emotions and he promised Clara to stand by her no matter what happens.
Two months later Clara was already pregnant, she became so scared to break the news to Clem but Clem found out about it after he sneaked to visit Clara without his parent knowledge. He was angry why Clara kept the good news from him and something that important.
He decided to show Clara to his parents the next day and break the news to them, so their wedding preparations will be arranged.
Episode 9
Back to the present……
Clement returned home in the evening after the scenario that happened in the morning, he met his parents patiently waiting for him.
Pamela: why did you stay out so long? (she stood up and gave him a hug worried.) Welcome back son, I know you must be hungry.
Clement: I’m not hungry, goodnight, he said attempting to climb the stairs.
Mr Anthony: don’t worry son, we can’t send our future daughter in-law and most especially our unborn grandchild away. We love you son. Clement just stood in shock looking at his parents if they are joking.
Pamela: it’s true son, she’s right here. I’m sorry if we have been hurting you all this while, you should have told us rather than endure.
Clement Joy knew no bounds as he jumped on his mum and gave her a tight hug then did same to his dad smiling broadly. “Mum you don’t know how happy I am right now because of this, as long as I have my family and Clara I’m complete. Thank you very much, where is she?
Pamela: I asked Margaret to take her up, she’ll be sleeping I guess.
Clement: mum(he took her hands) believe me when I say you will love Clara, just get to know her more please.
Pamela: it’s OK son, I trust your choice and your decision. I’ll apologise to her tomorrow for speaking the way I did to her.
Clement: thank you mum, he engaged her in a hug again, then ran upstairs to see Clara.
He met Clara seated on the bed very worried, he smiled and walked in while Clara jumped up and gave him a hug .
Clara: where did you go to, you got me so scared.
Clement: don’t tell me you missed me just this few hours, he said teasing her.
Clara: stop it. I was worried and no one knew where you went to.
Clement: I’m sorry, but I’m here now. so tell me how you missed me, he winked at her and they started laughing.
Clara: naughty boy.
Clement: Clara are you happy?
Clara: I’m just scared.
Clement: I’m sorry the way my mum talked to you but trust me she’s not a bad person. I’ll be always there for you.
Clara: thanks dear.
Clement: alright, I’ll leave you to rest. We’ll meet tomorrow ok.
Clara: aren’t you sleeping here?
Clement: no, I couldn’t hold myself the first time and I’m not gonna let that mistake happen again. You are more than that Clara and that’s how much I love you. Clara just kept looking at him speechless, he k-ssed her on the forehead then left the room.
“Do I really deserve such love? She asked her self and sat on the bed. I wish my parents were alive to see you Clement”She whispered and slept off.
The next morning Clara woke up very early and rushed to the kitchen to find what to do. The maids saw her and they all stopped her from helping them even when she pleaded, She left the kitchen to the sitting room and started dusting. Mrs Anthony saw her and Clara almost fainted when she approached her and she suddenly turned to a stammerer.
Clara: go..go..good
Pamela: you don’t have to do this Clara, we gat maids here to do their job, she said smiling.
Clara swallowed the saliva she didn’t know she was holding then nodded.
“By the way, good morning Clara, she continued. , I want to apologise for what happened yesterday, I don’t want you to be scared of me. I was only trying to protect my son, so can I know you more Clara?
Clara: sorry ma, what part?
Pamela: come sit down and tell me everything, she said and sat on a sofa with her.
Clara narrated her story from how she lost her parents, to the maltreatment of her uncle, how she ran away and how Clement saved her from victor, she was so surprised to see Pamela listening to her attentively to the end.
Pamela: your story is so sad but it doesn’t matter how life treat you bad from the start, what’s important is how life ended with you. I believe you can make it, you about to get married to my son already makes you a success. Welcome to the family Clara, she said and gave her hug. Clement gave out a loud cough that startled them then he burst out laughing.
Pamela: are you eavesdropping now?
Clement: no no no I was passing o then I got interested in the mother and daughter discussion.
Pamela: get away joor, don’t come and confuse us.
Clement: ok ooo I have a daddy oo, he said and left jumping happily.
