Episode 28

Donald lies down on his bed besides Cecilia who is sleeping, he can’t seem to take his eyes off her with a million things running through his head but he’s face clearly says he’s not happy, then he gets up, grabs his phone and tiptoes out of the room to the living room… He throws the phone down and goes for his whisky, he sits down and picks a remote, he puts on the TV and checks the time…it’s still 9pm, something tells him to call Alexia but he’s trying to fight it with more alcohol

Eddy is having a light after party of his own in his room, he is playing some loud music from his phone connected to the speaker and he’s dancing his lungs out

“Caught in the act” Alexia says opening the door slowly

“You got me Mum… Yeah you caught me in the act”

“So sorry for budging in on you like that” he puts the music off

“Don’t worry Mum I’m cool, I actually thought I was in my hostel”

“So this is how you do it there”

“Yeah! It’s the only way to cheer me up so what’s up”

“Can I sit” she asks

“Are you asking that….come on sit” Alexia sits down and looks rather scared

“I know….but I didn’t say I’m getting married I only wanted to know how you’d feel when one day Mummy walks in here with a man and introduces him as her boyfriend”

“Eddy please say something” Eddy wants to laugh but he’s controlling himself

“Calm down Mum”

“Before anything, Liam is my Friend and he has ever played Daddy with me so I know about this, even his plans earlier today”

“Gosh! You’re evil” Alexia hits him Eddy can’t hold his laughter

“Eddy! Son do you realise what this means, it means that your Dad and I…”

It’s early on Monday morning, Donald wakes up to find the side of the bed where Cecilia sleeps empty, she’s gone for her morning routine again, jogging and exercise, he feels hungry and the warms in his stomach make their presence known eating the lining of his stomach, he slept on an empty stomach and only had alcohol as supper…..he gets up and heads to the kitchen but he can’t find anything, he can’t even remember the last time fire was lit in the kitchen, he kicks the door in frustration as he heads back to their room upstairs….he finds his phone ringing and reluctantly walks to pick it, but on getting to where the phone is, his eyes brighten on seeing it’s coming from Alexia, quickly he picks it and composes himself with his best voice

“Hello Alexia good morning”

“Good morning Donald how are you”

“I’m very fine Thanks, how are you and the kids”

“We are fine….Donald….. I’m so sorry for inconveniencing you this early morning…. But I called to find out if you’re busy this morning”

“Actually I just woke up and I’m heading to the office… Apart from that I really don’t have a busy schedule”

“Owkeeeey….Aaah! Can you come by later today”

“Is there something wrong?”

“No no….not at all, I just wanted to talk to you but not like this”

“I’ll be there with you…just give me like thirty minutes”

“OK….I’ll wait” she ends the call and turns to look at Eddy who is seated next to her

“Done” she says

“Good, I better get going, I don’t want him to find me here”

“Sure son, thank you very much”

“I love you”

“Same here” he leaves…….Donald finds himself smiling to himself, for no reason, the call from Alexia just brightened his morning that was already looking like a funeral day, he gets into the shower and takes his time to shower, he comes out and gets out a blue suit but he still feels unsatisfied with his look, he poses in front of the mirror and looks at himself

“Hmmmm….you have a meeting?” Cecilia startles him from behind she wraps her arms around him

“Yeah!” He responds and turns, he k-sses her for head and moves slightly away from her

“How come I don’t know anything about the meeting?” Cecilia asks

“I just received a call….that’s why I’m not sure if I should even wear this suit or something at all”

“Let’s see” she looks at him and nods

“You definitely look good in this, such a great choice of suit”

“Thank you….I better get going”

“My k-ss” he moves and gives her a brief one before walking out… Once the door is closed behind, Cecilia lands on her back on the bed and fl¡ps through her phone and zooms a picture

“Liam….oh Liam! Why are you this hot…I should have you” she k-sses his picture and closes her eyes resting the phone on her heart

Donald keeps checking himself in the mirror in front trying to see how he looks but he’s a little nervous like he’s going on his first date with a girl he asked out, he drives his car and packs outside the gate of his former house… He walks to the gate and knocks, the gateman opens the small gate and looks out, he’s standing there all nervous

“Good morning boss”

“Morning Sam how are you”

“I’m very fine….should I open the big gate”

“Never mind…mind, is my wife in?”

“Yes she’s in” he opens the gate and Donald steps in, he walks to the door and stands there, he takes a deep breath before knocking on the door, Alexia who is dressed in a black tight but long dress is cleaning the house , she puts the bucket down and walks to the door, she opens the door full of smiles

“Hello Donald” she says and Donald is blown away by her……this Alexia in front of him looks different than the Alexia he rejected a few weeks ago

“Come on in” she steps aside and he steps in

“I’m sorry I inconvenienced you, you’re dressed for a meeting I can see”

“It’s OK….I will still reschedule it….please have a seat”

“Thank you” Donald looks around and the house is neat as always, yet she’s cleaning it up…Alexia notices his eyes wondering about

“I’m sorry the house looks a little disorg-nized….but what can I get for you, I have juice and breakfast too” he feels a little embarrassed because when he was living his last days here, her food was the last thing that touched his mouth so he declines her politely but deep down he is dying to eat so Alexia sits somewhere far from where he’s sitting

“I’m glad you came Donald because this is so important to me….it’s about us” his eyes lighten up

“What about us?” He asks

“Just a moment please, she gets up and walks upstairs, Donald in his confusion looks around but he’s more confused, their wedding pictures in the living room are no more, she comes back immediately

” I have something for you” she hands him an envelope and his heart misses a skip

“What’s this?” He asks

“I know I should have called Kelly to meet up with my attorney but the truth is I don’t even have one….and I wanted to hand you this personally…..I don’t want to be selfish Donald, I already signed the papers” Donald’s head stops working for a moment, he feels a slight headache but this new Alexia doesn’t seem to notice, the old Alexia would notice even a change in his eye colour but this one doesn’t even see that he’s not well

“I’m so sorry I took so much time doing this but I’m finally setting you free, I don’t want to carry my yesterday into my new tomorrow because somehow yesterday has a way of ruining today and I’m a perfect example to that…..now I want my tomorrow to have a lot to say, so I’m leaving my yesterday in my past so that my new found happiness tomorrow can have a Chance to last…what do you say?” She asks him and he manages to force a painful smile

“Of course” he nods

“I’m happy you finally did” he says avoiding her eyes

“I wish you all the best with Cecilia and I had some thing’s changed, I don’t need those properties you’re leaving me….I have decided to ask that you change this house to my children’s name…I need to start all over again….I want to build my own EMPIRE with my own dreams and sweat….Donald, thank you for pushing me up to this challenge” Donald still nods and gets up

“I have to go”

“Sure…I’m sorry for wasting your time all this while” she just can’t seem to get rid of the smile in her face, all of a sudden Donald storms out, he walks hastily out of the house, the compound and when he gets to his car outside, he hits the tire in frustration and hurts himself in the process, he openly bursts out, he wants to tear the envelope but his hands are trembling, he finds himself supporting his back on the car and cries even h-rder…..

Liam is in making a late breakfast after dropping his daughter off to school Early morning, it’s Monday and he doesn’t even have so many appointments and so many things to do, he and Alexia have not spoken since Saturday after he and his daughter left her house but he’s not worried because Eddy fed him in on what they talked about and he knows it’s just a matter of time before she gives into her feelings and he can’t wait….he carries the wh0le kettle of hot tea and walks to the living room with it as he devoirs the buns on his way, his mouth is so full but then there is a knock

“Now who could be bold enough to annoy an angry man this Early morning?” He rumbles as he walks to the door with no shirt on looking all strong and energetic, he opens the door and surprise hits his face

“Ale” he says with a mouthful

“Wow! This is how you really are huh” she pushes past him and enters as he cleans the corner of his mouth before he follows her

“I didn’t know you were coming” he says

“That’s because I refused to call either you or your accomplice Eddy” he keeps quiet

“You thought I would not find out huh!”

“Make yourself comfortable… Let me get you a cup” he walks hastily to the kitchen and she can’t help but drool over how s€×y he is, he returns with the cup and he’s now putting on a shirt

“Since when is it allowed for people to keep their shirts in the kitchen… That’s a place that deserves total cleanliness”

“How come I’m not going to argue with you on that?” He smiles saying this and she returns the smile

“A nice house huh!”

“People say that but I don’t think it is”

“Maybe because you have been stuck in it for all this while”

“You’re right because even Glow says that…. She complains that it’s too big”

“She’s right, actually I live in an equally big house but it’s nothing compared to this house but that’s not why I’m here this morning”

“I’m listening”

“I hope you’re not off to work soon”

“Now that you’re here…we are gonna hit up the gym”

“I have my own gym at home where I work out from”

“So what brings you here”

“I was with Donald this morning” he looks up sharply and she bursts out laughing

“I’m sorry it sounded like that in your ears but I’m telling you the truth….” She poses and gets serious

“I’m actually here for two reasons, one, I finally signed the papers”

“No waaaaay!”

“Yes I did….I called Donald up to come and collect his copy but I’m going to hand over the valid one to his lawyer” Liam shakes his head not believing himself

“How do you feel” he asks

“I feel like a very heavy burden has been lifted off my head, I can now start a new chapter in my life and yes, since my own son already sold me off to you, I don’t have a choice but to say yes”

“Like seriously?” He asks nervously and she smiles

“Calm down…. I mean it…though I’m a little scared you’d find me boring, old and ugly pretty soon” he ignores her words but holds her hands as they both gaze into each other’s eyes

“Ale, I would lend you my eyes so you can see how beautiful you’re my Darling…. If being in love means touching the sky, I would lend you my hands to touch the clouds…you have no idea how much I love and missed you in these two days of not talking to you or seeing you…..I was thinking I could lend you my k-sses and just call asking you to give them back so I can have an excuse to see you”
