Vito once again went to his clubhouse to spend some time alone. He was smoking his cigar when Pablo stepped in. They exchanged a long glance at each other for a while.

“Have you reconsidered my request?” Vito asked.

“Yes, I have.”

“And what is my reply this time? Same as usual?” He asked not really surprised if it had to be.

“No, I changed my mind this time.” He said, making himself comfortable on one of the empty seats. “I accept to rule the empire but that will be only on one condition.” He stated.

“Whatever it is, I will grant it.”

“I wish to make Anastasia r-manoff my wife.” He stated the condition.

Vito was quiet for a brief moment. “Anastasia is a payment to her father’s debts.”

“That is why I wish to have her. Besides, it’s all to maintain the family’s legacies, isn’t that what you taught us?”

“You know I don’t mind giving her out to you, but that isn’t the problem. The problem is what will come after. You’re aware Micheal also has feelings for her.”

“I know, but his feelings for her are not so genuine. After all, he tortured her life, she wouldn’t want some one like him for her after all he he did to her. Don’t worry about Micheal, I can handle him. Right now, let’s worry about the empire first.”

Vito was happy that for the first time Pablo seemed interested about the mafia empire and he wished he wouldn’t turn him down after he must have learned the ways of a drug lord.

“The first thing a mafia lord must know is his enemies.” He started. “We don’t have one enemy, they’re many of them. And while we learn our enemies from our friends, we learn of their hideouts.”

“I don’t have an enemy, so how am I supposed to know your own enemy?” He asked.

Vito knew Pablo was going to show up in agreement to his request so he brought every thing he needed to show Pablo for a start.

“Here is the map,” he said, taking it out from the side. “Places with the red cross are secret hideouts of our enemies who are still alive. You don’t have to rush into killing all of them to avoid getting caught, we attack when we find out about their gains or transactions. Or even whatever they are up to.”

Pablo went through the map, studying it gradually. “You can make a map of your own enemy when you become the next mob. Just do me a favor and don’t get caught.”

“Don’t worry about me.”

“I have to. Now, I can die in peace. But I need a promise from you, son, just a last promise.” He requested.

“Any thing, father.”

“Don’t you ever wage a war against your brothers, no matter what happens.”

“What if they try to wage the war first?” Pablo asked.

“Handle them but do not kill them. Remember, they are still your blood. Promise me that.”

“I promise.” He said with hesitation.

“Thanks for accepting my request, son. You definitely don’t know how happy I am that my empire will never fall because I believe in the legacy you will create in my absence.” He admitted.

“I’m only doing this for father’s sake and not for any one else.”

Vito released a soft smile on his face. He nodded.

He further went on explaining some certain things Pablo needs to know, and locations of his cocaine drugs hidden by his father. Apart from Pablo who he just recently told about the cocaine warehouse, no one else has to know about it.

“My father hid it from his friends and brothers. He said only a drug lord is made to know about this warehouse. It contains cocaine, a few of marijuana’s and diamonds which are worth half a billion dollars. You mustn’t tell any one about this, it should be our little secret.” Vito told him.

Pablo stands up to go, but stops at the sound of Vito’s voice. “And. . . you can have my office, it belongs to you now.”

Pablo nods his head at him before leaving the secret chamber to his car. He knows he has a long way to go if he truly has to be the next mob. And with a few days left for his father to live, he must do every thing to achieve his father’s dream.

Anastasia was spreading Vito’s blanket under the sun while Clarabelle stood at a side talking to her. Majority of their conversation was based on Micheal, and Clarabelle didn’t care if he was standing right behind her listening.

“I wish he dies for good. I don’t know why some one like him can have a heartless mind to torture a girl. I mean, who does that? He should go to hell for all I care.”

“I think he’s only frustrated, that’s why he’s been hurting me.”

“Frustrated my ass. If he is really frustrated, then he should have gone out to the club and exercised his frustration on those bitches and not you.”

“At first, I didn’t want to believe he’s this wicked like his father, but now I see he is more heartless than any one. All thanks to you for saving my life, who knows what could have happened to me? I would have bled to death just because of him.”

“And you called that frustration? Who in his rightful sense will pour out his frustration on a girl’s vagina? You’ve gotta know some thing, Ana, Micheal is an asshole.“ She rolled her eyes.

Clarabelle looked away to a different direction and she saw Micheal coming. “Speaking of the devil, he’s coming.”

Anastasia followed her gaze and saw that indeed he was coming towards their direction. “What does he want?” She said inwardly.

Michael stood a few steps away from them with his hands in his side pockets. He was watching Anastasia but she tried not to exchange glances with him.

“I’ll see you later.” Clarabelle said, excusing herself. She took the empty bucket with her, leaving Anastasia alone with him.

As soon as Clarabelle left, Micheal came forward to her side. “Mind for a talk?” He asked.

“What do you want?” She asked, a hint of anger stained in her voice.

“I just wanna talk.”

“Just say what you want to say, besides, I’m kinda busy right now.”

“We can’t just stand and talk, why don’t we take a little walk?”

“Are you gonna talk, or should I leave instead?” She snapped.

He looked around, then smiled. “Fine, I’ll talk.”

“I wanna say I’m sorry for every thing I did to you. I know it’s gonna sound weird to you but, you just have to believe me, I really am sorry for what happened between us.”

Anastasia glared at him from head to toe, she scoffed. “You’re sorry for every thing you did to me? Is that an apology or what? You fu*king damaged my life, you humiliated and ruined my pride all for your selfish pleasure and now you’re telling me that you are sorry?”

“I know what I did was wrong, okay, and I accept every action from you. Just please, forgive me. Give me a chance and I swear, I’m gonna make it up to you.”

She scoffed again. “Are you even listening to yourself? A second chance? I don’t remember giving you a first chance, you had it all the whole time and you wasted it on fu*king the life outta me. You almost killed me! It isn’t once or twice or three times, it almost seemed like a habit to you. And now you want me to forgive you? Just like that? No way.” She refused.

“But you know there is still a chance for me to forgive you. You wanna know what it is? I need my pride back. If you do so, then I have every reason to forgive you.” With that, she left, leaving him standing alone.

She wore a stern face as she walked into the building. Did he just say he is sorry? After every thing he’s done to her, yet, he dared to ask her for an apology?

Clarabelle, on seeing her rush to her. She’s been imagining what their conversation would be, and she never thought of it to be an apology.

“What happened?” She asked, curiously. “Did he hurt you again?”

“No. He came to ask for forgiveness.”

“Ask for what?!” Clarabelle yanked. “Hold on, that dΓ—ckhead came to ask for your forgiveness? He is crazy. What did you tell him?”

“I refuse to accept his apology, not after what he did to me.”

“Exactly.” Clarabelle was burning in anger for Ana’s sake. Why would he seek her forgiveness after the humiliations and pains he has caused to her. “Don’t ever forgive him.” She said angrily. “For no reason, don’t you ever forgive him.”

“I ain’t, even in my weirdest dream.”

“He has a reason for seeking your forgiveness. He didn’t just want you to forgive him, he wanted you to love him.” Clarabelle said not sparing her a glance.

Anastasia chuckled. “I doubt that son of a bitch can ever love.”

“Trust me, he is obsessed with you. He has seen how intimate you are to Pablo that is why he is coming after you. Maybe he has come to realize how special you are, so he wants to get you back to himself.”

“He is stupid to think I will accept him in my heart for any damn reason. The moment he stained my heart was the very first day he tortured me naked. I will never ever forget that day, so he should do me the favor of going to hell.” She cursed emotionlessly.

Meanwhile, Pablo sat in his father’s leather chair with the map placed on the table. He was going through a file which had to do with the last transaction his father made in the last few weeks.

He knew he was risking his life for this. Will he be able to cope with military life with this? He only has a few months left to stay before he returns back to the camp, things are a lot more complicated than he thought.

There came a call on the telephone, he hesitated to pick it up. It was probably one of his father’s men and he didn’t want to answer the call. The phone rang again and this time, he decided to pick up the call.

“Mr Escobar?” Said the voice from the other side.

“Who is this?” He asked in a deep voice.

There was a hesitation from the caller. “This is John D’ Amico.” He replied. “And I assume you’re Vito’s son, aren’t you?”

“Yes, I am.” He replied.

“I want to speak with your father.” John requested.

“What is it you want to discuss with him?” He asked.

“It’s a private conversation between your father and I and not you. Is he around? Give him the phone.”

“Whatever conversation you want to have with my father, you have it with me.”

“Fine. I hope this business works out well with us. Meet me at the amusement park by three, I’ll be waiting for you.” He hangs the call.

Pablo checked on his watch, it was fifteen minutes past two. He stands up, putting on his suit jacket before exiting the office.

“Cornell, Marcos, Al, I need you guys.” Pablo said as soon as he approached the sitting room.

Cornell and Marcos who were busy with the video game stopped at the sound of his voice. Al on the other hand dropped his phone into his pocket. “Is there a problem?” They asked.

“No. I need to meet with some one and I need you guys to follow me.” He said.

“So where is this place?” Marco asked.

“Amusement park. Come on, we have only a few minutes left.”

Pablo had almost left the door when Anastasia called him. He stopped, turning to look at her. “You’re leaving?” She asked.

“Yes, but I’ll be back soon.” He answered.

“Okay.”

He went close to her, stopping before her. “Do you wanna tell me some thing?” She did wanna tell him, but not any more.

“No, I just wanna say good luck.”

He smiled. “Thank you.” He leans to her face, pecking her cheek. “I’ll see you when I return.”

She nodded her head. “I’ll be waiting.”
