CHAPTER 33

Valerie had to blush over and over again at the peck he just gave
She looked at him and caught him staring already, with eyes that are filled with expression she found difficult to understand
They stared like that for almost three minutes before he looked away
She sighed and looked elsewhere too, he started the drive home after that, he dropped her home before leaving
She entered the house and quickly took off her heels, Susan is not at home yet so she went to her room and sat on the bed
She stared at the bracelet on her wrist and even her heartbeat became irregular at only that…
“Why did he peck me?, Is it because I’m pretty?” She thought, rubbing her cheeks
She heard the door opening in the living room
She went out and met Susan just coming in with smiles allover her face…
She hugged him tight
“I’m just so glad that I’m alive to see your sis getting married” she said
“You’ll stay alive till I get married too, you’ll live longer than you expect, mum I love you” she replied
” Love you more baby” Susan replied….

Robin kept smiling when he got to Carolyn’s house
“You’re too happy right?” Carolyn asked, sitting beside him
“Yes grandma, I feel happy that finally dad has officially married mum, but I’m missing them” he replied
” I know you’ll be missing them, but it’s just for a week, they’ll be back on Saturday so just chill and enjoy yourself here till they’ll be back” Carolyn said
” I’ll try” he replied
” What should I tell the maids to prepare for you? ” Carolyn asked
” Maids?, No if I taste their good I might end up firing them all” he replied
Carolyn smiled and stroked his hair
” So what are you gonna eat for dinner?” She asked
“I prefer your cooking than maid foods…. You made something before you travelled last year” he said
” Buttermilk waffles? ” She said
“Yeah, I’ll be managing that till my honey arrives on Saturday” he replied
Carolyn smiled and pecked him before standing up…
“I’ll go make it myself, what do you want to watch?, I’ll tune in to the station for you” she said
” Jim jam” he replied
” Jim jam…” Carolyn said, picking the remote
She tuned in to the station and he smiled
“Grandma you still read horror novels right?” He asked
” I can’t ever stop being a fan of it” she replied and blew him ksses before leaving for the kitchen
“Then she’ll have the book, I just have to search” he thought…

” Thanks for the ride” Sally said when she got down from Leo’s car in front of her house
Her car actually developed fault while she was driving home and luckily he drove past her and reversed to check
He offered to take her home and she gladly accepted, she called the repairer that’ll repair her car and move it home already…
“It’s nothing, just what I should have done” Leo replied, smiling widely…
” Alright then, see you” she said and made to go in
“Sally wait” he said, coming out of his car
She looked back as he walked up to her
“I’m sorry but…. your number, can I have it?’ he said
“Why?” She asked, smiling slightly
“Just to say hi once in a while.. Please” he said
” Fine” she replied and took his phone, she typed her number and gave it back
“Thanks, I’ll call you” he replied as he took it
She eventually went in
He smiled before getting back in his car..

Dwayne found it hærd to sleep a wink, it’s too difficult to do when she’s allover his thoughts
He sat up on his bed and admired the bracelet on his wrist for the uptenth time today
He smiled when he thought of how he didn’t recognize her cos she became very much pretty
“I’m silly” he thought and continued smiling…
“Darien, you better not trespass again… and Whitney, I’m waiting for your next move” he thought…

Honeymoon island***
Philip made sure that no one else is there except them, he booked the wh0le island for the wh0le week
It’s silent but cool and beautiful, you can watch the stars in the sky from any window view in the mansion
He just finished taking his bath and he’s coming out of the bathroom, w-t badly
Melanie took her bath first and is already sitting on the bed in only her towel too, waiting for him and here he is…
She smiled immediately he came out
He combed her hair with his fingers gently, her breathing is still not steady yet, still heavy a bit
“I love you a lot” she said, rubbing his bare chest
“I love you more than you can imagine sweetheart, thanks for being my bride, and thanks for staying….” He said and kssed her hair
” Thanks for being my husband too…” She said, smiling happily…
“You need to eat, our food will be ready by now” he said…
” No , not yet, I still want to stay with you like this ” she replied, hugging him
” Your wish sweetheart” he replied, smiling too….

Next morning**
They woke up in each other’s arms and Kssed deeply before going downstairs to eat breakfast
After breakfast, they went back upstairs to take their baths, dress up and left the mansion to go have fun round the island…
“I never knew this island is as beautiful as this till now” she said when they got to the waters
She’s wearing a bum short and a hoodie while he’s wearing a trouser and same hoodie, they wore hats too and they look adorable a lot
“Yeah, you know we were exhausted from the wedding stress when we were coming, so I guess you have no time to notice” he replied
She dip her leg into the shallow part of the water and scre-med
“It’s so cold!”
He laughed and joined her but she suddenly dipped her hand into the water and scooped it, she poured it all on him..
“Go$h!” He said loudly, smiling as he scooped the water too and made to pour it on her but she ran before he could get to her
“Catch me if you can!, Whoa!” She scre-med and continued running
He smiled and ran after her, he had barely took four steps before catching up with her
He carried her in his arms and her hat almost fell but she held it…
“Silly you” he said and used the opportunity to kss her l-ips
“I won” she said
“Says who?, I caught you” he replied and kssed her again
” Cheating” she said
” Kssing my wife is cheating?” He said
She nodded
” Then I want to cheat over and over again” he said
She covered her l-ips but he tickled her till she let go, he kssed her deeply right there
They later did boat cruise and enjoyed the cool breeze and serenity of the place
Then they played games like fake gun shooting and they did archery too, they proceeded to table tennis and Melanie took the lead in the game
They ate lunch and went for a nap in,side the mansion till the evening when they ate dinner and watched r©mantic movies….
CHAPTER 34
Lighthouse highschool, Tuesday
It’s the exams week and the students has started exams since yesterday
It continues today and they’re just finishing their first paper
Lillian stretched herself and yawned
“Math is a badas I swear” she said
“But you solved all the questions” Valerie replied
” Yeah, but not without stress, I envy you and Dwayne, yesterday when we did biology and ethics, you both are the first to submit, today during the maths, you both submitted first too, I’m sure during chemistry, you both will still be the first ones to submit” Lillian replied
Valerie smiled and Dwayne suddenly winked at her before leaving the class
She knows what it means so she followed him…
She met him at the garden with a book
“Tell me Avogadro’s law, I forgot just a word in it and I don’t want to open my book” he said
” How lazy” she replied
” Not a matter of laziness, I just hate reading” he said
*It states that equal volume of all gases under the same temperature and pressure, contains the same number of molecules” she replied
” I actually forgot molecules” he said
She started laughing
” Mr brilliant” she said
He laughed too
“Stop making jest of me, it happens” he said but she continued laughing
He took her hand and drew her closer to himself, she stopped laughing
“So this is the only way to make you stop” he said, staring at her face
” What? ” She said and in the next seconds, he kssed her forehead
Her heart raced as usual
He eventually hugged her
“I should hug a brilliant girl, so all what I know won’t leave my memory” he said
She hugged him back with smiles
” Grumpy Bear” she said
” Retarded” he replied and they both smiled in each other’s arms..
Honeymoon island**
“You brought this teddy with you?” Philip asked, coming into the living room with two cups of coffee
” Yeah, I feel like he’s here as I’m staring at it” she replied, kssing Robin’s teddy
” That little trouble, he gave that to only you….” He replied as she took a cup from him
” Don’t tell me you’re jealous” she said
” I’m overly, very, very, too jealous” he said and she started laughing
” I knew it” she said, sipping the coffee gently
“What should we watch?” He asked..
“Kssing booth?, Life in a year?, After? Or…
“Let’s watch After, I’ve watched it but I think I’d love to watch it again..the love story of Tessa and Harry” he said as he ins**ted the disk
” I hope it’s interesting ” Melanie said… Settling down to concentrate
It all started with Tessa leaving her mum and highschool boyfriend Noah , she went to college where her life turned around…
She met different set of people but in the midst of them all is Harry, an handsome guy who’s as difficult as he.ll to understand…. But she found herself falling helplessly in love with this guy…
But in the end, after various bonds they shared , making out with her and taking her vrgnity, it all turned out to be a game… Harry made a fool out of her but!, He fell for her along the road…. Can that really be taken?
“Harry did bad” Melanie said
“I know right?, But it seems he has genuinely fall in love with her, don’t you think? ” Philip said
” Even if that’s the case, he should have told her earlier rather than letting his bchy ex tell her instead, the stupid guy even showed the sheets with her vrgnity blood to his friends, I mean who does that? ” Melanie said
Philip smiled and pulled her closer to himself…
“Let’s just watch the part two instead” he replied
“Oh, it still continues? ”
” Yeah, the title is After we collided” he replied
” Let’s watch that at night, we should go have fun now” she said
” What game should we play? ” He asked
“Let’s go skiing” she said
He smiled and they went in to change into thick pullovers and joggers
He carried her on his back till they got to the skiing ground
He placed her down and they took the sticks after putting on the shoes
“Just watch as I do it” he said and put on his cap before skiing down the place, he did it round and she started clapping
“You’re the real deal love!” She scre-med till he got back to her again…
” I want to try it” she said
“You’ll fall” he replied
“Then you’ll carry me” she
replied…
He smiled and helped her with the shoes and sticks
“Careful.. steady” he said as he slowly let her go
She’s not bold enough to straighten her legs on the driving shoes but she tried
“You tried!” He scre-med
“I know!, I’m the best!” She replied and lost control as she looked back, she fell
” Sweetheart!” He said loudly and ran to where she fell on
Her eyes are closed when he got there
He bent over to her and nudged her
*Sweetheart, sweetheart!, Melanie!” He called loudly but she’s not moving..
He got scared a lot that moment
“Sweetheart!, Is this a joke?” He said again, shaking her body
She kept lying down, not moving
He placed his ear on her chest to feel her heartbeat but she’s not breathing
“Melanie please open your eyes!” He scre-med again at the point of tears
But it’s useless cos she’s still not moving
“You know I love you a lot, please open your eyes!, Please!’ he scre-med, holding her cheeks as his tears fell on her forehead
She smiled and released the breath she has been holding
She opened one eye first, leaving the second one closed
“Melanie” Philip said, she opened the second eye and smiled.
“My baby is crying, how cute!” She said, smiling more widely
She wiped his tears
” That was a?’ he asked
” Prank” she replied with a silly smile
“You!” He said, smiling at the naughtiness
” Coward” she said, standing up and taking off the driving shoes
He took off his driving shoes too
She made to run away but she pulled her back and she fell, laughing loud
He lay on her and watched as she continued laughing
“You scared me, I almost lost my heart” he said
” I’m sorry, but at least I got to know you’re a coward” she replied with that silly smile again..
” I’m not a coward, a normal person will get scared” he replied… tracing her brows with his finger
” I love you very very much ” she said
“I love you too much sweetheart

Friday**
Robin came back from school feeling tired,. He ignored the maids telling him to come have his food
He climbed upstairs to his room and dropped his backpack before changing into a simple wear
He’s heading back downstairs when he remembered the book
Grandma Carolyn is not around so this is his chance
He turned back to her room and carefully opened the door
He went in and closed the door slowly
He stood and scanned the big room
“Where could it be?” He thought
He looked at the bedstand, the drawer….
It’s not there when he searched
Then he saw she has a inner dressing room just like his dad
He opened the door and entered
There are about five closets and accessories show glasses with shoe racks and bag hangers
Then, a book rack too
He smiled and got a stool
He stood on it and started searching for the particular book
And even God knows grandma Carolyn loves h©rror novels,there are over three hundred if it arranged neatly on the racks
He rummaged everything in search of it
He suddenly saw it but unfortunately it’s the volume one
He sighed and returned it before resuming his search
Then at the base of the rack, he saw a book, it’s the only one there
He came down from the stool and took the book, he smiled when he saw it’s what he has been looking for
“Why didn’t I notice this before climbing?” He asked himself
He sat on the ground and inhaled hærd before opening the book…
He read as fast as he can and luckily it’s not much
His eyes w¡dened at what he’s reading, just like his dad’s life story but…
“No, dad and mum won’t end up like this right?, The begging might resemble their life story but the end is not theirs….no need to be scared at all” he said and returned it
He climbed the stool and arranged the books he has rummaged
He left the room afterwards but no matter how much he convinces himself that his parents story will never end like that, he’s greatly bothered…

Sally just finished cooking breakfast, she has been managing the company since Philip left for honeymoon so she has to be diligent and punctual
She’s about to start eating when an unknown number called
She picked immediately
“Sally” Leo’s voice said
She smiled and sat, taking a spoon
“Mr Leo Sancho” she replied
” How have you been?, I’ve been busy that’s why I haven’t called” he said
” I understand, I’ve been good, what about you?’ she asked
“I’m good too, you’re coming to the company today right?” He asked
” Sure why?”
” I’ll come and see you” he replied
” Really?, And why is Mr Leo wanting to see Sally?” She replied, stabbing her food with the spoon
” I just feel like seeing you, so expect me, I’ll eat lunch with you ok?” He said
” I…
“Hey, don’t say no please” he said
“Ok..fine” she replied
“Sure, see you!” He said and hung up
She smiled before dropping her phone
“Leo” she said fondly..

Lighthouse highschool*
The exams finished yesterday and the results will be out today, then they’ll go for three weeks holiday before resuming for the second term of their last year
The students are waiting for results to be distributed while chatting …
Then the principal came into the class with some forms
“I’ll be distributing it now to everyone… it’s called ambition form, fill what you dream of becoming in future in the form, the school is ready to help you guys look for the best university that offers the courses pending when you’ll be graduating next term” he said
” Not bad” Valerie said as he started giving out the forms but…
Dwayne got none
“Your dad filled yours for you already” the Principal said
“What!” Dwayne said
” Yeah, he said you’ll study mathematics in school so he filled mathematics in the form on your behalf” the Principal replied
” Mathematics?, I bloody hate mathematics!, I don’t dream to become a mathematician!, I wanna become a brilliant doctor and now this?, No I can’t take this, where is the form he filled?” He said
When the Principal is taking too long in giving him
He grabbed all the forms from him and fish out the form
He wasted no time in tearing it up
“Dwayne!” Principal said in shock
“Listen!, I own my life and it’s not to be lived for me by anyone!, So everyone should stop trying to be me!” He spat and left the class angrily, leaving everyone dumbfounded
Valerie followed him but he’s out of school
Dwayne went straight to his dad’s mansion
He entered without knocking and met him with his stepmom in the living room
“Dwayne stop behaving like a ba$tard, how can you enter without ringing the doorbell” Linda said
” Fk you Linda!, Now Fido, listen and listen clear, I’m not gonna be what you choose, I’ll be what I choose and you need to get that into your skull!” He yelled…
” You just called both of us by our names?, Should I order your arrest?” Fido replied
” Ion care!” Dwayne said
” And what’s so wrong in choosing a course for my son” he said
” Everything is wrong Ba$tard!, Everything!, Cos you’re not me!, Why are you always trying to live my life for me as if I’m dead!”
” You’re my son!”
” I’m not!, Your son cos you don’t treat me as if I am!” He yelled back, almost losing his voice ..
” Dwayne stop acting as if you’re out of your senses, it’s for your own good!” Linda said
” Oh shut up!, My own good?, Who’s deceiving you that you know what’s good if you see one?’ he replied
“What!” Linda said
Fido picked his phone to call the cops
” I’m becoming a medical doctor, not a freaking mathematician, just get that and get out of my life!” He yelled and left the house furiously
” He’s getting on my nerves” Fido said
” calm down” Linda replied

Night**
Valerie got to the archery and started counting the houses
That’s what she must do if she’s ready to know his house cos she won’t be able to sleep if she doesn’t know how he’s faring, his number has been off since he left the school angrily like that even without checking his results..
“Four… five” she counted and took the ten steps to another house
” Six.. seven.. eight.. nine…ten.”
She came face to face with a magnificent mansion
She Inhaled, breathing hærd as a result of the long walk
She rang the doorbell for almost ten times but no one opened the door
She pulled the doorknob and tried opening the door, luckily it opened, it’s not locked
She went in and saw him sitting on the stairs….
“Dwayne” she said, stepping closer
“Don’t come closer Val” he said
She stood on her tracks and stopped moving
” Dwayne sorry about…
” And I told you already to stop saying sorry on behalf of others… Val you need to leave” he said, not looking at her
” I can’t.. you’re not ok .
“I’m ok Val, please just leave, I want to be alone” he replied
Valerie felt hurt by even that cos right now, the only thing she wants to do is stay with him but he’s telling her to go
She stood for some more minutes before turning to go
She walked slowly to the door and Dwayne finally looked up
He realized he needs her most this moment, he just sent away his only companion
His eyes can’t bear to see her leaving
He stood and walked up to her
Immediately Valerie held the doorknob to open the door, she felt arms around her and head on her shoulder
“Please don’t leave… stay Val, stay with me tonight please” he said
Her hand let go of the knob voluntarily
She smiled and kept standing, allowing him to hold her like that
“I want to stay too…. don’t ever tell me to go again” she said
He let her go and turned her to himself
She looked at his face and saw hurt and pains
He’s really going through a lot..
“Just stay…huh?” He said
She nodded and hugged him, he stroked her hair as usual and she car-ssed his back
They stayed like that for minutes before breaking it
